Bucket I got DD some soft startrite ones as the daisyroots got very soggy in the garden and then she traipsed mud through the house! If you are after daisyroots - gap do them but not sure how much. BORN do them and they are often ethically traded.

Miamla · 16/06/2009 16:17

i got a pair from Adams and DS seems to be getting on well with them

CaptainCaveman · 16/06/2009 19:00

miamla your mum might just be right. I had to do this with ds1 - and it worked a treat! First night of refusing to feed him he screamed for an hour. SEcond night he cried for 40 mins, third night he whimpered for about 5 mins, fourth night - woke up but went straight back to sleep. In the morning he guzzled 8oz of milk from a bottle (with a spout rather than a teat). It was hard work but certainly worth it. I think I will have to do the same with Oliver. I don't feed him now before daylight, but am aiming for his first birthday to stop bfing, and just go straight onto cows milk.

Hello ladies! All good here. Am thinking of jacking deferring uni for a year. Too much to do and not enough time to do it!!

TwilightSurfer · 16/06/2009 19:50

no shoes here yet. i'm not really interested in them until it gets cold again. maybe septemberish.

HP on the sling topic how are you wearing your lo?? for those with moby's are any of you wearing your child on your back? i've been using my moby once or twice a week using the front/hip hold but really want to try a back tie.

i am going to try the water bottle trick tonight. maybe in a sippy cup....not sure. reese loved her water sippy cup today at the pool. she didn't want to give it back. might be time to move to sippy cup use full-time.

almost upset dd1 today. just as we were leaving my friend called an cancelled our pool playdate (their pool). dd1 almost cried. so i took her to our pool (not the greatest) with reese in tow and we had an excellent time. thankfully we scored a spot in the shade. so i parked reese (strapped in the stroller) and went back and forth between her and dd1 in the pool. YES sazzles i did get in the pool. the water was nice. if reese had fallen asleep i would have spent the whole time in the pool with dd1. i think i could do it again with ease.....got my SYSTEM down.

so to recap...tennis then pool then PIZZA. dd1 shouted in the truck "NOW THIS IS WHAT I CALL FUN MOM!" don't worry the joyous mood was short lived. she found her whiney self just moments later.

Hi cc

no shoes here yet either, although I am sure dd had quite a lot by this age
ts your day sounds wonderful. I wish I could do that swimming set up.
re back carry, I tried with my moby, but I have the moby d (one with the shiny oriental fabric section) and its just too slippy, I couldnt keep it over him while I tied it. iykwim. That is why I ordered the 'miamla tei' i love it.
I can now got ds on back very well, although have to use public toilets when Im out as still need to look in a mirror. I am still tempted by the storchenweige though
dh does not understand my pram and sling obsession. I now have 4 slings and 4 pushchairs, did have 5,but sold a pram today.
yes I am aware I am very sad!!!

Miamla · 16/06/2009 20:07

well i've had two cameras up my bum this afternoon, how's your day been?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 16/06/2009 20:08

Speaking of prams I have been to shitecare again today to try out the Jane powertwin. I tried one in another shitecare store and when I had both dcs in and tried to push, the muppet shop assistant said oh yes its got a flat tyre.
This time i have only myself to blame as i never checked the tyres before putting them both in....yes this had flats too. so still not sure what its like to push gggggrrrrrr

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 16/06/2009 20:09

ah miamla poor you, you are not having good times atm are you??
how are you feeling, did you manage to get someone to watch ds??

Poor you miamla, hope you're not feeling too uncomfortable? Any results or do you have to wait for those?

No shoes here either. WE went mad with ds1 and he had 'cruising' shoes which got scuffed to buggery well used. Not sure I'll bother with O until he's really found his feet.

Daddy was doing bedtime routine last night whilst I was out hockey-ing. He confessed when I got in that O had had a 'little mishap'. Whilst dh's back was turned he managed to crawl to the edge of the bed and fell off....straight onto the heel of daddy's shoe! He got a nosebleed from it too. Apparently ds1 was giggling and saying "oooh daddy, you're in trouble, just wait til I tell mummy!" . All fine now, just a little bruise

hotterpotter · 16/06/2009 20:53

Tried to do a back carry with the moby but I couldn't get DS to lie still long enough to tie it. With the Mei Tai I can even do it without a mirror now we start with him on my shoulders, it's pretty easy. TS you can get them from Target apparently

Better go and get my stuff ready, I don't wanna go Someone send me a million pounds please...

CaptainCaveman · 16/06/2009 20:58

Where you going hotpot? Not back to work? It's not all bad - I actually enjoy the freedom being back now!

CaptainCaveman · 16/06/2009 21:00

has anyone else not yet opened their child trust fund account? I'm so frigging lazy!!! Voucher expires in September so I'd better pull my finger out!

poppysocks · 16/06/2009 21:19

and hp. Will be thinking of you tomorrow. Hope DS gives you a good night tonight. I must admit that like cc, I too am rather enjoying being back. Definitely feeling the benefit of waiting longer to return this time and DD2 has settled at nursery much faster than DD1 did.

VG. Poor you, poor E. What a fright. Hope your interview went ok. Scary that so many our our LOs are having these mishaps, but all part of growing up I guess....

Hope you get swift answers miamla to offset today's unpleasantness. How are you today dizzy? I too am having horrific periods. Have also, for the first time ever, been spotting loads between periods. Grrr.

No shoes here buckets. Actually tried to get something to keep her socks on but discovered that she's off the bottom of the scale - not even a size 1.5 , so we'd better hope she doesn't actually walk any time soon . Anyway, thought they were supposed to be bare foot as much as pos at this stage for foot development?

Sorry to miss out lots but hello and waves to all.

alittlebitshy · 16/06/2009 21:29

yes poppy little soft bones are best left bare aren;t they?

cc we've not done our trust fund yet either . dh being an ex-accountant too . Dh keeps saying he will do it (will do same as we did for dd) - must chase him.

hotter good luck for tomorow. Hope it turns out you enjoy the freedom as cc says.

sazzles yay for the mooncup, that is exactly how my purchase came about. Just ended up seeing it with tampax in hand and then deciding to buy it.
on my 3rd time of using and it does get easier.

poor steaky

cyteen · 16/06/2009 21:44

hotter here, have a joint gin. I found the anticipation so much worse than the actual going back, as is often the case in life. Joe's back in nursery tomorrow after having last week off so I know he will cry and make his heartbreak face at me which won't be fun, but on the other hand I am actually looking forward to doing some work, god help me, not to mention going out at lunchtime and looking for a nice present for DP's first Father's Day.

You will be fine and the time will fly past

Miamla not much I can say to that, apart from sympathies. Did you get a good view of the video screen?

TS that does indeed sound like a barrel of fun Certainly better than my trip to the launderette this morning, although that wasn't even too bad tbh. DS was thoroughly entertained by all the clothes going round and we now have sufficient clean stuff to see us through the next few days.

No shoes here either since DS is nowhere near walking He is going backwards at speed though and today we played a good game of peekaboo under the sofa Think he might have just learned to bumshuffle though - he loves bouncing up and down on his bum and this evening at bathtime he suddenly started inching across the floor like a yogic flyer with this insane look of happiness on his face. Was pure LOL

cyteen · 16/06/2009 21:44

Oh, back carries - I am desperate to try one of these but a bit anxious about trying to hoist DS up in the Moby by myself, especially now that he weighs 23lb-something.

TwilightSurfer · 16/06/2009 21:50

Well I've totally surprised myself and straightened most of the house, bathed both girls and it's not yet 5pm. No ideas about dinner though but oh well.

Off to youtube to see how the moby back carry is suppose to tie.

Best strengthening wishes from me too, Hotter - I know the first few days won't be much fun but you will get through them. Make it through to your first coffee break, then lunchtime, tea break and the day's over! (Clockwatcher, me?!)

VG so glad E's ok and you've had a good day. M has had so many tumbles, nothing serious yet but every time I tell myself that one day it will be - and after what we went through earlier this year how can I not wrap her in cotton wool for ever?! But I don't

Ann good luck with jobhunting and LOL at S chin-dipping...

Miamla hope the appt wasn't too grim and they can fix you up nicely!

Re shoes, I was also of the bare is best school but DD does want to cruise everywhere now... our splintery old floorboards are bad enough but east london playgrounds? Ouch... Socks are too slippery and won't stay on anyway. Do they keep shoes on? Aren't they just slip-on at this size?
