Sorry you're having difficulties with DS, Daisy. Sounds a tough one. It sounds like a word with the parents, if you think they are approachable, might have to be the way to go. Otherwise, are there any other friendships you could gently encourage and hope that DS sees the less pleasant side of this boys nature in contrast to nicer behaviour (and then hope that his judgement about which is better matches yours )? I was just thinking at the weekend about how my parents must have felt as I was growing up. In particular I was thinking about an old boyfriend (we drove past where he used to live), and with hindsight I can see how undesirable he was and how Mum & Dad must have worried. But all they ever said about him was to ask me to promise not to go home with him - he lived in a hostel and I guess there may have been a whole world they didn't want my eyes opened to at that stage. Of course, if they HAD gone against him I would have wanted to see him all the more, but as it was I worked out how untrustworthy he was within a few weeks and dumped him

LittleMissNorty · 02/06/2009 08:50

Well done to Ria's DH.....good news

Daisy that little friend of DS1's sounds like a right little shit.....is he the same one that done your greenhouse? Oh I don't envy you with that conversation with his parents, but it sounds like its got to be done. Why can't they stay babies forever....

Is 8.30am really a suitable time for Boogie Beebies? Sends me fucking mad....what possesses them to put the same episode on every morning for a week - right during breakfast time??!!

Ohforfoxsake · 02/06/2009 11:09

I went to Chessington yesterday Fury. It was a fab day, kids behaved beautifully and we had a lovely time.

But the most bizarre thing! Whilst I was waiting for DP and DD on the dodgems I was standing next to a family and was thinking "aaahhh, what a beautiful little girl dozing on her mummy's shoulder". Then the penny dropped.

IT WAS NATTY!

Natty If you are lurking - did I freak you out? Sorry if I did!

Ohforfoxsake · 02/06/2009 11:11

Congrats to DH Ria!

Daisy, I wouldn't be encouraging that friendship. Am dead against children being exposed to adult games/movies etc. Agree with Ria about the nightmare excuse.

Ohforfoxsake · 02/06/2009 11:12

And happy birth day Norty!

LackaDAISYcal · 02/06/2009 11:34

lol foxy, I see what you did there (I was just thinking it isn't Norty's brithday.....)

Happy Birthday to DD Norty

Lol at you bumping into Natty foxy....tis a small world this internetty one!

HellHathNoFury · 02/06/2009 14:44

What have you got Daisy? We have a P&T and DH has forbidden the purchase of anything new, but I am nosey and like buying things

Foxy I CANNOT believe you saw Natty!
What a small world!

HellHathNoFury · 02/06/2009 14:45

Had diabetes tests today. Feel like a hungry pincushion. Will get the news tomorrow.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 02/06/2009 14:50

Hope you're OK Fury

HellHathNoFury · 02/06/2009 15:00

I am sure I am, it's all routine hey!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 02/06/2009 15:56

am waiting for the duty doctor to call as jemlet's temperature keeps going up. She's at 39.5 now And I presume has had nosebleed as blood all over her cheek and cot sheet

HellHathNoFury · 02/06/2009 16:25

oh dear Jammy that's not good

do keep us posted and fingers crossed all is ok

LackaDAISYcal · 02/06/2009 16:56

poor jamlet I hope she is OK.

Fingers crossed for your diabetes test results fury...

I have a Jane Powertwin, a snip at £250 delivered! and two Graco duosports, £60 each plus postage. One is BNIB as the silly company sent me a second one when I asked for a raincover! I found the Jane really smooth, but a bit weird to push but I don't think I had the tyre pressure set up right as it liked to pull to the right. TBH, your DS is probably too tall for the Jane.....DD filled it at only 18 months and she is dinky in comparison!

It is sooooooo hot and sticky here it's bordering on unpleasant. The thermometer was reading 86 on our driveway earlier!

I have been trying to get DD some 3/4 length leggings with lace at the bottom and can't find any anywhere (except in white )....Next had them but they are all sold out. You'd think standard stuff like that would stay in stock longer than five minutes. I tried to order stuff from the summer catalogue the same week it arrived and stuff was sold out already...grr.

We've seen the doc who can't find anything wrong. But temp still up so we are to monitor this evening and go back if still up in the morning.

LittleMissNorty · 02/06/2009 17:15

Thanks for all the birthday messages . She's had a lovely day and got lots of pressies (except from MIL ....god only knows where they are all going to go....I thought she had the entire ITNG stuff.....but it would appear not ....a play tent would you believe!

Poor Jamlet....hope she is OK Jammy....I hate fevers

Right, need to get DD dinner! Later x

LackaDAISYcal · 02/06/2009 19:28

have u missed me/ noticed me missing??

Rialentless · 02/06/2009 20:50

happy birthday to the LOs

busy day here, been to Leeds for DHs swab - was looking out for daisy of course. thanks for the info about the gold mine of charity shops near Roundhay daisy I have more than supported St Gemma's hospice today, we went to noth of those parades of shops near the hospital, Whetherby and then another hospice shop in Boston Spa (on the way to MILs) I have spent a small fortune, but got some Betula-birkenstocks for £2.99 -they are SO comfy, and will be my hot-weather crocs

Got DH sorted to stay over at MILs Friday night too and FIL will take him to hospital, so I won't have to drive the kids to Leeds at 5am on Saturday, or ask DF to do it.

hope furys results and jamlet are ok.

small world at Chessington hey.

HellHathNoFury · 02/06/2009 21:04

I'm bored.

But I discovered Waitrose Chicken today. I was perusing the shelves at Westfield and noticed a best of a bird going for £3.50 reduced, so I made it mine and roasted it lathered in butter and seasoning.

It was lush. DH loves me even more now. DS is still eating adult size meals but I have discovered I was wrong, and that my understanding that he was huge is mistaken.

It seems that Sainsburys clothes are made for teeny children as he wears size 3-4 there but 2-3 everywhere else.

TheNatty · 02/06/2009 21:09

im bored too fury.

whatcha doing?

Ohforfoxsake · 02/06/2009 21:50

BOO! Natty!

Did I getcha again?

TheNatty · 02/06/2009 21:59

gosh!

hello foxy

Sputnik · 02/06/2009 22:20

That's funny about you bumping into each other!

I just spent 1 1/2 hours putting DS to bed too, I think I'd better cut down his nap. He has marathon 3 hour naps in the afternoon if he's at home, it's lovely, but I think they'll have to go.

Clothes sizing is funny. I took DS for a check the other day and he is officially the size of a 3 year old, but some of his clothes are 3-4, some 2-3.

We got a massively reduced indoor slide in ikea the other day, so all set for his party on saturday now (DH will be away for his actual birthday). I am really pleased as he is so desperate to slide he slides down me, or the sofa.

LackaDAISYcal · 02/06/2009 22:21

aha, see what you mean fury....DD wears 2-3 in sainsbos, but is still in 18-24 months eslewhere.

Natty...can I confess I didn't miss you, but I haven't been on much over the weekend. lol at you going to the Zoo and meeting an urban fox
