Bumper, stop lurking and say hello

Sputnik · 17/06/2009 16:54

I think we have similar reading tastes Holly, I love Hardy too, though sometimes I think why don't you all just have a shag and get over it? But I suppose there would be no story that way. Also I would give that husband of Tess a good slap in the face, what a prick.

Yes why no Pratchett? If you like Handmaid's Tale have you read Woman on the Edge of Time?

Sputnik · 17/06/2009 16:56

I spotted Bumper the other day on a courgette thread
We know you're out there

Sputnik · 17/06/2009 16:57

Start a thread about growing vegetables, she show up I bet

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 17/06/2009 17:01

Fucking Angel he does need a giant slap! Thanks for the book recommendation, it looks good. I'm going to the library tomorrow, so I'll put it on my list.

I like all the end of humanity type books. One of my favourites is The Chrysalids (not on the list either) and I love Children of the Dust.

Why am I on MN and not cooking my children dinner? Bad mother!

HellHathNoFury · 17/06/2009 17:02

I went to cook dinner and the mince that I got out of the freezer was... rank.

So now I am waiting for Pizza Hut delivery.

Found a voucher code for a free side order, plus 7.5% quidco cashback, they might as well pay me to eat

Sputnik · 17/06/2009 17:11

There you go Holly, stay on MN and get a pizza delivery!

I read all the John Wyndhams as a teenager, brilliant, keep meaning to revisit them. The other one looks interesting, it has gone in my shopping basket.

Rialentless · 17/06/2009 17:27

I don't read proper books anymore but I did love Anne

I took the boys for a nap and when I got up the gas had been cut off. Fortunately only because our neighbours could smell gas and because I didn't hear the bang on the door when the man came to check it they had to turn it off as a precaution (tis stupid, even though I know we are up to date with the gas I live in fear of getting it cut off. Bills scare me. Actually money scares me, more so because we have none. The thing at the moment is that DH gets his jobseekers reduced because of the hours he was doing to get that job, so they pay us nothing, and because the hotel haven't paid him either. Can't wait til Friday. Hope we don't have a crisis tomorrow.

Thanks for that info Fury, I passed it on to my parents as they were thinking they wouldn't be going to NZ next year having spent their money upgrading their holiday place here.

DS2 seems a bit better for a sleep and 2 doses of ABs.

Rialentless · 17/06/2009 17:28

Natty, have you tried freecycle for a cot? Mine didn't sell on ebay so I freecycled it. You might even get a really nice person who might deliver for you.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 17/06/2009 17:30

Well done fury, I do love a good pizza, especially when I don't have to cook it!

I think that's my problem sputnik, all my favourite books have been my favourites since I was a teenager. I haven't really expanded my horizons! We really do have the same taste in books though, it's a bit freaky!

My dcs have pasta with sweetcorn and broccoli with strawberries for pudding! I would feel like a good mum again if I wasn't letting them eat it in front of CBeebies! Oh well, I'm having an "I can't be arsed" day today!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 17/06/2009 17:32

That's a bit scary ria. I live in fear of having things cut off, even though I know the bills have been paid. One day I'll be rich, I know it!! Glad ds is feeling better.

Rialentless · 17/06/2009 17:36

whoops, I didn't finish explaining what happened. Our neighbours gas is fine, when I got the man to come and check ours and turn it back on ours is fine too (they had to leave it off because they couldn't get inside to check the pilot light on the fire). Turns out is was the other side neighbours gas BBQ that isn't properly connected!

I don't think we'll ever be rich TBH, but I live in hope

Sputnik · 17/06/2009 17:38

You should read this Holly

Glad your DS is feeling better Ria.

Rialentless · 17/06/2009 17:40

yum, pizza. Our pizza takeaway is closed for holidays (how do they think people manage for TWO WHOLE WEEKS?) should be good for the diet I suppose

Just need 2 special (and easy) meals - for baggins birthday on Friday (chinese if I can afford it) and something for DH and I on Sunday evening. Suppose I should make an effort after 13 years

apparently my children need to eat again (baggins and DS2 only had lunch at 3.30)

Sputnik · 17/06/2009 17:40

Just went to run a bath for DCs and there was a soding gekko in there. I put something in there for it to climb up, I hope it takes the hint.

TheNatty · 17/06/2009 20:16

a gekko in the bath

thanks for freecycle suggestion but our local freecycle is crap as everyone around here is broke and sell everything because they cant afford to just give it away lol

im eating my weight in bread and butter pudding as the loaf i bought 2 days ago goes out of date tomorrow should have double checked the date, bought two as on offer and only checked one of them. DOH!

ive got courgettes in my garden! infact i ate my very first homegrown cucumber and lettece the other day

is everyones LO's in bed now? mine are and listening to a charlie and lola story cd. bless them

Ohforfoxsake · 17/06/2009 21:02

join a freecycle in a posh area. I'm in Richmonds and Kensington & Chelsea. And check out Wandsworth for babystuff. Ain't called Nappy Valley for nowt!

TheNatty · 17/06/2009 21:05

good idea foxy but no transport so cant collect the stuff lol

Ohforfoxsake · 17/06/2009 21:12

I thought you were near Greenwich? That's a very affluent area. Must be some good stuff up for grabs there?

Sputnik · 17/06/2009 21:40

Hiya Foxy

Ohforfoxsake · 17/06/2009 21:42

Hello Sputnik

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 17/06/2009 21:44

Hi fox x

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 17/06/2009 21:46

Did you get the Gecko out of the bath sputnik? I'd have taken a bath with it, I do love a reptile (though not in a sexual way obv).

Sputnik · 17/06/2009 21:46

Where have you been?

Sputnik · 17/06/2009 21:48

I think the geko would probably have drowned. Plus DD would not have been too happy.
I haven't checked but hoping it climbed out. DC's bathtime cancelled
