I gave up work at nearly 33 weeks this time around....much harder with a toddler isn't it?

Try and take it easy. How long are you having as mat leave?

HellHathNoFury · 17/06/2009 10:58

Yeah I think I will be 34 weeks (just) when I stop work. It IS harder, but last time I was PG I didn't have a job as I was freelance, so it was MUCH easier!

I am taking 6 months off at this stage, just for financial reasons really, but I am going to play it by ear.

I am very lucky that DH is so good, I honestly couldn't do it without him.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 17/06/2009 11:26

Hope you are ok fury, being pg and working sucks. I stopped work at 34 weeks with dd, it was the perfect time I think. If you look like a whale and feel like dog shit, there is no way you want to have to be friendly and sociable with the tossers that you work with (maybe that was just me) as well as doing work.

Has everyone seen this thread. The BBC think that most people have only read 6 of them. Dp has read 5 (!!) I have read 38. I am actually quite ashamed of myself, I count myself as a big reader and am not even halfway through the list! Must get to the library pronto!

Ria, hope ds2 is ok.

LackaDAISYcal · 17/06/2009 11:36

fury. I hope you feel a bit better soon; hoefully that last few weeks own't be bad if you are off work. Is DS still going to nursery when you are off?

Holly, I saw that thread ages ago....and of course it isn't 100 books is it? The complete works of Shakespeare?..all of the Harry Potters?...The Dark Materials Trilogy?...
I've read about half of them iirc but some I won't read as I just don't care for the subject matter, and the whole list seems a bit random.

Got a delivery this morning from the italian mums and dads company , complete with toys and the same letter you got .

HellHathNoFury · 17/06/2009 11:37

Hey Holly!

Yeah I am ok. TBH I am VERY lucky as they let me work from home most days. I do have to bloody WORK though, slacking is not an option!

I loved your pics on FB btw of the farm, you DS is unrecognisable from when I last saw him!

I did see that thread, I have read quite a few, but some I just didn't fancy! Life is too short to read a book you're not interested in

HellHathNoFury · 17/06/2009 11:40

Hey Daisy I am fine

DS is going to nursery on tues, wed, thurs still, as I am a cripple still. I will have him mondays and fridays though (and weekends, obv).

Will see how I go after the birth, but it will probably change again - but I do want to keep hhim there at least 1 day a week as I go back to work and need to keep a hand in, you know what the waiting lists are like!

LittleMissNorty · 17/06/2009 12:04

That's what we done Fury with nursery - dropped her down to one day a week, but carried on buying our full allowance of childcare vouchers for when I've got 2 to pay for. We've got over £2K in vouchers which will pay for 2 months nursery when I return!! We have 3 days reserved for them both from December!

Nursery days when you are on mat leave are FAB....before the baby is born you can sleep and relax and afterwards, you get the day to yourself and the baby.....and realise how easy it was when you only had one .

Today is a nursery day for me and I've had a leisurely bath, shaved my legs, actually blow-dried & straightened my hair, put some normal clothes on (rather than in/out shower, leave hair to dry like a bale of straw, put trackies and t-shirt on only to be covered in puke!) and going out to meet DH for a pub lunch. Worth £42 of anyones money!! DS plays on playmat, doesn't whinge, sleeps and needs a bottle every 4 hours! Bliss

Rialentless · 17/06/2009 12:06

DS2 has tonsilitis again.

holly, I felt like that about work when I wasn't PG tpp
nap time I think.

Rosie & Jim just arrived in the post

LittleMissNorty · 17/06/2009 12:07

Poor DS2 Ria . Has he got ABs?

Rialentless · 17/06/2009 12:08

norty.

DH gone to York to a recruitment fair. stupid waste of time cos it's far too far for him to travel to work daily.

anyway, I am taking my boys to bed. Hope they sleep til teatime then I won't have to deal with anything.

Rialentless · 17/06/2009 12:11

yup. DG rang Gp and they said they don't do emergency appts anymore, it's done by phone[hm]. so DH went out. I then got a call from surgery at 10.30 to be there for 11. Poor DS2 had to get dressed and charge up the street as my parents were out, only to be met by my Dad at the surgery (they were at the dentist) and dad spirited baggins away with him. Not good at stress.

Poor thing last night though, managed to puke into the bucket and not on himself or anywhere, but he dropped his toy squirrel into the bucket too

LackaDAISYcal · 17/06/2009 12:17

Poor DS Ria ; I hope he feels better soon and that squirrel doesn't have any lingering aroma of sick after he has been washed!

I'm also very of your nursery days Norty. My days would be easy if I only had DS2, although he is showing signs of getting more mobile (he can cover the floor with a combination of rolling and going backwards but hasn't figured out that this is a good thing and just howls cos he can't go forwards) and my life will be 20 times harder when he is crawling!

Right, I'm being whinged at for lunch. back later.

Poor DS2 Ria - hope he's better soon

LittleMissNorty · 17/06/2009 12:37

I am in NO RUSH for DS to be mobile. In fact, my favourite place for him is strapped into his rocking chair, bouncer or bouncy chair

HellHathNoFury · 17/06/2009 13:14

I have been spamming antipodean mates but just in case any of you ladies are interested, I shall spam you too...

Singapore Airlines are having a sale until the end of June for flights booked 1 Sept to 9 Dec & 16 Jan to 31 March 2010.

Availability is running out so get in there quick, but the average price is between £300-£400 return for flights to Singapore/NZ/Aus/etc (NZ £360/Aus £400/Singapore £300)

Apparently these are the lowest prices ever, so get in there quick!

Also...book through Quidco and you can get an extra 2% off

TheNatty · 17/06/2009 13:38

poor DS ria

got one of my testing products come today so been stroking that lol!

ok now i am tired! i painted the fence and the last coat on the cot yesterday, done three washes and hung outside, watered the plants and cooked lunch this morning and now i feel really crappy.

i am a little frustrated at how little i can actually do before i start hurting atm

did u miss my hello norty?

HellHathNoFury · 17/06/2009 13:40

Did you get a cot in the end then Natty? Where from?

TheNatty · 17/06/2009 13:49

i dug ellens old broken one out the loft and my dad repaired it and i sanded it down and painted it (i will need replacing as im not sure it will take the weight of a toddler)
it will be for daytime naps anyway for the first 6 months and im sure we will get round to replacing it in the mean time, gives me some time to find one locally on ebay.

it doesnt look to bad actually

HellHathNoFury · 17/06/2009 14:23

Oh good work.

I have seen a lot of cots going for sale on ebay, some are like £5.

TheNatty · 17/06/2009 14:34

yeah me too, we got ellens of ebay when the one she had broke. (i kill cots.. god knows how)
its just a case of waiting for one locally as i have no car and will be carrying it home like i did with ellens lol!!

oh and jobseekers wrote to us, we cant have any money cos with tax credits and child beneift we have too much money coming in

they have lost my maternity grant form as well, so wont be getting that before the baby is born.

just as well we get healthy start vouchers else we wouldnt be eating.

pah another moany post from me

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 17/06/2009 14:49

Poor ds ria, tonsillitis is bloody awful as an adult, it must be really shitty for little ones. Hope he gets better soon.

Some of those books on the list are my faves and I reread about once a month (Harry Potter, Tess, Memoirs of a Geisha etc.), but some of them I feel I should have read, but haven't. Maybe I'll just give them a miss, Dickens esp. makes me want to kill myself! It only takes me 2-3 days to read a book anyway, so I might just give some of them a whirl!

at those prices fury! If only we had a spare grand we'd be straight over to Oz...like now! Alas all our money atm is going towards getting a car that is not a heap of shit!!

Natty, benefits are bollocks. I have had my tax credits reduced because dp is on jobseekers (?). I don't understand. At all. I am also waiting for the healthy start vouchers from last time dp was unemployed. It's like they don't realise that people need money to live!

I am doing batch of testing for Practical Pre-School and have just had a long list of products I am going to be receiving in the next few weeks. I heart testing, it is soooo much fun!

LittleMissNorty · 17/06/2009 14:59

Yes I did miss it Natty . Morning!

E-bay is a great place for cots. My 2nd cot cost £30 from there and I'm currently selling it (£10 so far). I don't mind if it goes for a tenner as long as it goes to a good home and I can get the kids some clothes with the proceeds. Shame you're not closer Natty. Although sounds like you've done fine.

I'm still waiting for my letter from tax credits....some money has gone in my bank but only £30 for 2 DCs, one of whom is under 1 and one adult on mat leave

Just been to boots for some weaning bits and pieces.....he's screaming after 9oz milk, only going 3 hours between feeds, watching me eat intently and waking up at night....my resolve is wearing a little thin....I really want to wait if I can but there is only so much milk I can get into him

TheNatty · 17/06/2009 15:26

norty i had to early wean ellen as she was so hungry all the time, i just did a 9oz bottle, fed her 7oz and make up baby rice with the remaining two.
kept her happy and we stayed with that until she turned 6 months.

Sputnik · 17/06/2009 16:29

I've read maybe 3/4 of those books, the rest don't interest me, eg the Bible, and Anne of Green Gables . Odd list though, I mean why 4 Jane Austen books?

Speaking of ebay, I bought a really nice Oilily dress for DD 2nd hand on the market for 1.75 euros, and I just checked, they're going on ebay for £15-£20! Maybe I should get my act together and sell some stuff.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 17/06/2009 16:46

I've read Anne of Green Gables , only because my mum made me read it, it was pretty shit! I love Jane Austen. I am a very sad romantic at heart . I also love Hardy, not sure why, Tess is THE most depressing book EVER and makes me sob my heart out every time I read it. Poor Tess . The Bible I tried to read once when I was about 16. I thought I ought to. I was going through a understanding people phase. It made me cross and I've not picked it up since! I even find it very difficult to set foot in a church!

Why put all the Harry Potter books into one and no Terry Pratchet books or Clan of the Cavebear??

I am going to read The Handmaid's Tale tonight, I love that book.

I really need to join a book club. I long to talk about books with people!

I have got a load of dd's 2-3 clothes on ebay and they are ending tonight. Some of them are going for more than I paid for them new! Result!
