I'm home and DD is alive and well having being left home with daddy and MTV. He did send me a piccie of her eating a bojela box . She is now only just in bed having had a late nap with DH whilst I got dressed. I was only at the pub for the Children's Centre parents forum but I got to dress up and look like an adult without food/sick/cat hair/poo.

It's very quiet on here these tonight.

HP pleased yhou are feeling better.

Hi TS, Dizzy and Sibh

dizzydixies · 20/05/2009 22:20

sorry, I sound like a right petulant child

oopsacoconut · 20/05/2009 22:24

Feel free Dizzy - some familymembers people just don't realise they can say 'no thanks Dizzy, we can afford our own new stuff.'

hotterpotter · 20/05/2009 22:25

Ah Dizzy you are such a kind girl . I would be peeved too I must say, especially as from what you say they could easily afford to buy stuff themselves. Couldn't you compromise and give them some things but hide the best-selling/most expensive stuff, pretend it's knackered then sell it all in a few months? I have definitely bought stuff for my DC that I really shouldn't have, on the basis that I could sell it on after and get some money back shame it's all bloody knackered now

Am really going now, those early nights just slip away don't they.

thank you Sazz, will be thinking about you tomorrow, I know it will be hard but hopefully having Emma there will help lift your spirits and see you through it. I wish I was closer to help - you should have given me more notice

Sibh · 20/05/2009 22:33

It feels cosy again in here now that there's a gang.

Dizzy - you are more than entitled to feel unhappy because they have been thoughtless and a leetle bit greedy. Not nice imho.

Remember they won't have itemised your closet and you can be generous without subsidising them.

You can offer them what you are happy to give.
I have handed some stuff on to friends and some to family. I have ebayed other bits and hold on to some memory clothes (there are things I can't bear to part with for DS and DD1 because they remind me of certain stages). I sniff these occasionally like some mad loon.

Oops - should I add bonjela packets to my BLW snacks list?

Hotter - sleep well on your princess bed tonight and good luck with the driving lesson. (The paint was all over the table and on the sleeve that stuck out of her painting jacket. She had studiously filled the cup bits of an egg box I had given her. Fecking disastrous to dispose of...

TS - can you rustle up a small party for the gang here tomorrow too? How has DD1 been coping with the holidays today? DS only has until the end of June and the end of term can't come soon enough as he is truly shattered.

Sibh its absolutely nothing personal or cherished but things like the baby swing/bouncer/carrier/cot top changer/steriliser/moses basket & stand which I could have made some money out of - I don't think that DH is going to change his mind on DC4 so I was as well chucking them in the local pages or on ebay to try to get something back

I hate feeling like I'm not bringing any money into the house and seeing as I'm the one that buys all the stuff if I can at least ebay some of it I could get something back

right, need to get over it family is family I suppose

Sibh · 20/05/2009 22:45

I cross-posted lots there.

I see what you mean Dizzy. I often feel like that here about money and buying things for the DC.

Sazzles- so sorry you have to go through tomorrow, but it sounds like the whole thing has been planned in the right spirit. That poor man, having to plan that for his daughter ...

Isn't it in the rules that Dad's mind children at major gatherings? If DH dissents, send him here and we'll sort it.

Sazzles, I will most willingly save you a drink. And everyone else for that matter. Have a lovely time at the celebration. Those are more appropriate in my mind. I want one of those too. Ya'll remember that okay....for many many many years down the road of course.

Sibh, dd1 is liking the lack of early morning movement. She's slept in every day so far. I'm trying to look a few things to keep us busy other than her tennis camp but my laziness has gotten the better of me. Oh well.

Dizzy, NONE of my family offered things. We purchased all of dd1's things. Then gave them all away to close friends and a battered women's shelter. With Reese we purchase all new things again and have offered them to dh's cousin...well really to dh's aunt who will be keeping said cousin's baby a lot I'm sure. His uncle is a minister and they live pleasantly but frugally. They've always been good to us so I felt in only proper to give our things to them. Hopefully they will have a second grandchild on the way very very soon too.

hotterpotter · 21/05/2009 08:27

Morning all

Think there was a pea under my mattress perhaps I should try a hammock next...

Sazzles I hope today is not too grim.

Can't decide whether it's going to chuck it down today, it keeps coming over dark then brightening up again. I really need to plant my runner beans today [slack alice]

oopsacoconut · 21/05/2009 08:32

Morning HP

No brekkie here the milk was sour!

SAZZLES thinking of you today.

Nothing much going on today - yet another blood test as they lost my last ones

DD having stayed up until 10 with DH failed to sleep at all last night awake every 40 mins just for the hell of it but we are okay and not too bad - when she goes for her nap I will go too.

Is everyone who is coming tomorrow still on? Weather is supposed to be cloudy but dry and about 17

Miamla · 21/05/2009 08:45

morning all, thought i was first on til i refreshed! tis very quiet!

ts you made me feel really quite emotional when i read your thing about us remembering how you want to be remembered. I really hope that we are all in touch still when we're old ladies. Hey, how lovely would it be when we're on here (or elsewhere!), chatting about our grandchildren

crazy busy day yday.. doc appts went well. she tried to squeeze everything into the first appt She's such a lovely doc despite being half my age
She's given me ref numbers etc to chase re piles, i've got a blood test sorted for friday, she went through knee results and confirmed that things aren't right internally so referral is being done for that. She suggested i might consider buying a house next door to the hospital for the amount of time i'm going to be spending there! So basically i'm getting a camera up my bum, a camera in my knee and another camera in my fanjo. Hey, does all that make me a movie star?

but the good stuff from yesterday was lovely too. saw a couple of friends for lunch , and then went into town so see a few other friends for drinks. DS coped admirably with it all and slept for 4 consecutive hours last night!! he was in our bed but still, four hours!!!

Miamla · 21/05/2009 08:52

how bad would it be to eat a slice of chocolate birthday cake for breakfast? some seems to have been inadvertently left here

Miamla · 21/05/2009 09:01

dizz don't blame you for being annoyed with yourself and them. Could some of it be syphoned off for ebay? or, the alternative is to be out right with your brother. tell him the truth, money's tight, you could do with selling some of the bits so does he really need all of it?

sazz hope today is as bright and cheery as your friend would like it to be

oops sorry to hear you had a bad night last night, make sure you do get a nap this morning. i'll be chooing you off here if you mention DD's asleep and you're on here

hotpot you've reminded me about my hammock! DP gave it to me as a pressie years ago but i've never put it up. we haven't got suitable trees or anything here so need to construct something, anyone got any ideas? it would ideally be something non-permanent but i'm willing to try anything! and hotpot, once its up, you're welcome to test it for "sleepability"

miamla hope the choccie cake brekkie was good!

Funny that - I had lunch with a couple of friends yesterday too. Small world . Anything good to eat at your lunch? .

nb - miamla made some savoury flapjacks and cheese/broccoli muffins for the babies. yum yum yum.

So far this morn I have: put dinner in slow cooker, done the school run, dusted upstairs, tidied dd's room, sorted some laundry, taken sheets off our bed and put them in the wash.

Ds chattered for ages beofee going off to sleep. How mean will it be to wake him up after an hour of sleep so we can go to NCT coffee morn? I'll make sure he has the chance for a good up to 2 hour nap this afternoon.

dizzydixies · 21/05/2009 11:13

caught up and now late for DD2 so back later
