Quick hello wave will try to catch up soon

loobyt · 05/06/2009 22:22

Hey ladies! I was a memeber of your group a while back but only ever have time to read now. Good to see what your little ones are eating, very interesting. Any one have chocolate issues with grandparents?

Good luck swooty! xx

elliepac · 06/06/2009 07:31

Morning all! Havent' had a time to read the whole thread but hi to everyone.

loobyt we have real issues with one grandparent and chocolate. DD toddles into grandma's house and heads straight to the fridge where she stands until grandma (mil) gives her chocolate it has happened that much . I could try , and I have done, to discourage it (she sees quite a lot of grandma as she only lives around the corner)but have given up. A little piece of chocolate every now and then won't kill her and it would really upset mil if i asked her to stop. Anything for a quiet life!

Swotty, we had MMR a week or so ago and DD didn't seem to react at all, she never has done to any of the others. Fast forward 10 days and she has temperature, whingy etc. I, like you, didn't realise she had a second jab at the same time. As soon as she realised that she was going to be stabbed again, she started squirming, screaming and because she's such a strong little monkey I nearly dropped her on the floor!! The evil looks she gave that poor nurse lol!

Have any of your DC's shown any interest in potty training. You may think I am insane. I hadn't even considered it and wasn't going to for a good while yet (DS was a nightmare, didn't manage it fully until he was past 3!). However, yesterday, while at my mum's while playing (I wasn't there but Mum, BIl and DSIS all swear blind she did it), DD went over got the changing mat, put it on the floor, sat on it, patted her bum several times, lay down, took her shoes off as if to say change me. Mum then did and found a fresh, warm wee in her nappy (TMI if you reading this early morning sorry!). I was amazed that she sould be able to do this at this age. SHe then did it again later on last night with me (the point at which i had to ring my mum and apologise for calling her a liar! lol). Do you think it was just a freak occurence?

Anyway, better go and feed the children

Good luck swotty. Hope it all goes well.

Hello everyone, just letting you know we have returned from our holiday very tanned and quite relaxed,

The weather in cornwall has been fantastic- we really could not have asked for better, (the only time we had any rain was yesterday coming back up the m5!!!!)

we are off out for lunch today to celebrate my mums 50th birthday- (ds told her she is over the hill now!!!!(DH got into big trouble for telling him that too- luckily my mother can take a bit of a joke!!!!lol)

good luck swotty, sending you very big labour vibes, !!!!!!lol hope you get the homebirth you want, xxx

eating habits, DD is a very good eater, she will eat anything you put in front of her, DS was like this too but recently getting a little more fussy- they both eat any fruit and veg too - ds does not like peppers or onion though

as for rice- DD loves rice so i will do a sweet and sour(loves it) sometimes i will just do a chicken breast and some rice with peas and sweetcorn in for her as she really loves rice!!!!!!

do u have a slow cooker anyone? a friend of mine at work cooked a cowboy casserole in hers- diced stewing beed- diced potatoes, tin of tomatoes and a tin of BBQ baked beans- leave it on all day and its yummy!!!
i was going to fo it before our holiday byt we ran out of time!!!!!! will def give it a go though, xxx

anyway off to do some more washing(yuk)

spk soon, looking forward to hearing of your new arrival swotty, xxx

V of hols in cormwall Ds has also occasionally started to show awareness of wee and poo! He took his pooey nappy off the other day and sometimes pees in the bidet (it was already here before anyone sniggers! ) when we get him ready for the bath. I was wondering about getting potty out lust so he know whatit is. wasn't goint to attempt to start yet but might if he's interested.

Gill79 · 07/06/2009 22:35

Hello everyone - wrote a long post last night but lost it .

So - where was I?

Swotty - more good luck coming your way.

Egg - very impressed with your cooking, especially without tomatoes!

Elliepac - also very impressed with your DD's activities. I think you should definitely capitalise on this and start whatever people do when potty-training (can someone tell me what you are supposed to do?) Think Malcolm just's figured out that wee comes out of his willy. He points at it in surprise He also makes an attempt to say poo but then he's trying to copy loads of words at the moment.

DP is currently sporting a black eye. He was lying on his back in the lounge with his eyes shut. Malcolm had his little wooden hammer....... Eek. It was very BAD.

Well tomorrow is a very exciting day.... I will be 30!!!! We had a barbeque party yesterday which was really nice - despite me being seriously hungover from night out on Friday and despite rain threatening. Malc cut his lip open towards the end but still had a great time showing off to everyone and took control of the music and danced away by himself on the sunlounger.

Sarah - sounds like your holiday was great -
it's so good when you're lucky with the weather isn't it?

swottybetty · 07/06/2009 23:38

happy birthday for tomo gill. hope you have a lovely day. i hate losing posts, used to happen to me a lot but my internet connection seems to be a bit sturdier at the moment.

elliepac i do feel sorry for the nurses having to inject babies . cause we were there not too long ago for the hip/hep she kind of half remembered and was crying before we even started. actually, we have had a bit of a localised reaction to one of the jabs - red and swollen around the injection site. not sure if its the mmr or the other one. the nurse said that kids with eczema sometimes flare up so am trying not to worry. anyone else have this?

i am tempted to keep a potty in the bathroom. two nights in a row dd poo'd in the bath. she does say poo just before she does it, but the once when we got her out and dangled her poor dripping self over the loo she got a bit of a shock. however second time last week when she poo'd in bath (and i was doing bath on my own both times), i fished her out and didnt put a nappy on as i tried to fish out of the bath and lo! she poo'd on the floor. so maybe a potty not a bad idea, as ginger says not to "train' as such just to ... erm.... potentially limit the time spent cleaning sh*t up

sarah glad you had a lovely holiday. might try that casserole recipe - dont have a slow cooker but will give a go just in big stew pot. ty for your labour vibes. i have decided not to moan about going overdue again. i figure if nothing else it will be character building

whats wrong with a bidet ginger?? i'd love one but they dont come as fixtures in boarding school accomadation .

waves to loobyt - very nice to hear from you. my mum would stuff dd full of chocolate all day long while my mil thinks that giving a pre-schooler any kind of processed sugar should be a matter for social services. i dont mind choc so much as e numbers and sweets. we were at a bbq the other day and this (i should say very nice) woman i had never met before, preg with her first, took a shine to dd and had her on her lap chain feeding her skips crisps. dd could not believe her luck!

missnatalie · 07/06/2009 23:52

Hi, just a quick hello from me. Am surrounded by puddles of sick and snotty tissues . Yes, Henley is poorly AGAIN! Aaarrgghh.

Will come back on tomorrow for a proper catch up

missnatalie · 07/06/2009 23:53

Good luck swotty xx

alkar · 08/06/2009 09:45

Happy birthday Gill

Poor henley, whats wrong with him?

rozzyraspberry · 08/06/2009 10:22

Happy birthday Gill - hope you have a great day!

Potty training - my other 2 were 2.5 before we attempted it and I would have to say ds3 is definitely no-where near ready for that. I feel for you Egg - pooh in the pants is not pleasant but I'm sure it's just a phase with your ds1 - fingers crossed.

Hope Henleys better soon.

Better go Andrew keeps adding symbols to my post.

Take care

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 08/06/2009 15:49

Hello all. we've got a potty here but DS likes to keep his poos a secret and gives no signals at all, he prefers to use the potty as a kind of wheel-less skate board!

Missnatalie, hope your DS is feeling better soon.

Hope you had a lovely birthday Gill, lucky you to still have the bbq weather!

Glad to hear that some others are having the grandparent/chocolate issues

I am currently struggling with lunch ideas. Have been eating lots of bread, cheese and fruit but want to get away from bread and I'm wanting to pack in lots of hidden veg. Have tried pasta with cheesey veg sauce but that ended up on the floor, took me ages to prepare it too, still the dogs enjoyed it!

We are off for our first ever visit to the zoo today so better get a move on.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 09/06/2009 09:04

have a fab time at the zoo looby!!!!

Hi to evryone else

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 10/06/2009 13:37

Hello Ginger, how are you???

OP posts:
strawberrycornetto · 10/06/2009 20:15

Hello everyone. I'm back from holiday, we had a great time. It was so lovely to spend two weeks with DH, DD and DS, I'd had such a rough couple of months before so it was really lovely. DS is now walking, dead on 15 months so just 2 weeks behind his big sister. He's still not that confident but its so cool to see him tottering around

DS had his CF test and other blood tests done today at Great Ormond Street. It seems that the sweat test didn't collect enough sweat, so not sure what happens now, think it will be repeated. It was really frustrating because they did it in a cold room and then wondered why he didn't really sweat . The blood tests were pretty traumatic, they took 4 attempts to get blood while my poor little man was screaming Glad that one's over. That said, Great Ormond Street was quite traumatic in itself. So many poor LOs who are clearly very very sick. DS looked a bundle of health in comparison which I found reassuring. I am really sure that we aren't going to get bad news.

How's everyone else? I've tried to catch up but its tough to read so much and reply. I've missed you all!

missnatalie · 10/06/2009 21:44

Have been trying to post on here for a few days but it wouldnt let me for some reason .
Anyway just a quick update. Have been at the hospital all day with Henely as he's been really ill since Fri-Sat and has got loads worse. Took him to out of ours doc on Sunday who said Viral infection. Own GP tues who said the same. Saw nurse today who said take him straight to hospital. Since Sat his temp has been between 39 - 40.1 and hes not been eating or drinking. At the hospital they said its a viral infection with Buccal Ulceration of the mouth, tongue, throat and possibly face. Although there not 100% sure that the rash on face isnt measles. Have to monitor him and if he gets worse or the rash spreads then i need to take him straight back to the ward. They've given me 24hr access.

Am absolutly shattered so going to bed now. Night all xxx

strawberrycornetto · 10/06/2009 21:49

Nat, poor you. I really sympathise. I hope Henley feels better soon and that you get some sleep.

Gill79 · 10/06/2009 21:52

Hello Strawberry - glad you had a great time. Bad luck test not done properly - how frustrating.

Had a fairly boring day at work on my birthday but had a lovely evening of chicken fajhitas, wine, chocolates and Peep Show on 4OD .

MissNat asked me on FB to update you as she's having some technical issues. Henley's been in hospital today with "buccal ulceration" on his face and mouth and throat No I don't really know what it is despite some googling but sounds like MissNat's been having another nightmare as he's been really poorly. He's out of hospital but still quite bad apparently.

Hi everyone else. Swotty - are you lurking? Or are you off having DC2? I hope so! xxxx

Gill79 · 10/06/2009 21:53

DOH!!!!!

missnatalie · 10/06/2009 22:49

Thanks for updating everyone gill. Its let me post tonight but only on certain threads. Maybe my access has been restricted for being so crap

Cant get to sleep. Henely has woke up again crying and gagging for a drink but he cant swallow again. Have dripped juice into his mouth through a syringe but hes still not happy. I think we'll be back at the the hospital tomorrow, if not later tonight

gingermumi · 11/06/2009 10:53

Oh misnat, know how you feel, have had some rough times with toby too. Take care and don't let hosp fob you off!

Hi to evryone else

alkar · 11/06/2009 19:46

How are you missnat? Its horrible when they're in hospital. When DS has had his high temps they've gone within a couple of days so hopefully Henleys a bit cooler now. I used to love hot summers but since DSs fitting I hate them!!!
