Hiya everyone!

Ds says quite a few words although it is generally just copying us after we say them - like bathtime, bedtime, nappy, tasty etc - no-one else would probably know what he was saying though!! By far his favourite is still 'burp pardon me' - hazards of having 2 big brothers - I'm sure the next words will be willy and pooh.

I ran another half marathon yesterday. It was a bit hot for me so the last 4 miles were torture. I did it 4 minutes faster than my last one in May so should be pleased but was only 9 seconds over 2 hours - I would have been soooo chuffed if I'd managed to go under 2 hours - ah well maybe next time but I'm pretty sure I'll be doing no more this year. I'm looking forward to a bit of a rest now - we're off on holiday in 2 weeks.

I know what you mean about the diet Gill - it's lucky I've been doing so much running because I hate to think how much I would weigh by now otherwise.

Ds2 has his school visit on Thursday for starting in august - I can't believe 2 of my boys will be at school! It'll be strange just having ds3 at home during the day - it'll probably be very boring for him!!

How is everyone else?

Bessie123 · 22/06/2009 12:18

I have been wondering about Swotty and her pregnancy, came on here to see if she's had the bubba.

Big congrats, Swotty. It sounds like you had a lovely birth. What great news.

I have also been reading everyone's feeding lists. Very interesting. Dd eats much the same (with the odd recourse to fish fingers and peas or an omelette when I am particularly disorganised). She can sing head, shoulders, knees and toes now (but not with any discernible tune, she's obviously picked up my total lack of musical talent).

Strawberrycornetto - I will be thinking of you, hope all is ok.

Egg - thanks for the info re allergies. I think dd gets tummy ache sometimes, I will be more careful from now on.

swottybetty · 22/06/2009 21:05

hello all. lovely to hear from you bessie. the fishfingers or omelette meal happens every other day here. i started buying those salmon fishfingers so i feel like a good parent for giving dd a variety of types of fish .

all ok here. yesterday was great - had loads of sleep sat night and we took dd to the farm and she had a great time running around with her bucket of food feeding goats and sheep. she is so fearless - i have to do my best not to flinch like a bg woos when the animals eat out my hands. that and not leaping around hysterically at wasps are proving to be two unexpected challenges of parenthood. today i put bob in sling and enlisted my sister to give me a hand taking dd to her music group. we all survived and most importantly bob slept whole time and i did not have to feed in public. did not get much sleep last night tho and ds not happy when put down and dd today has gone mental every time either dh or i leave room (even when the other one is there with her). so today i feel a teeny bit broken.

lol gill - dd is very advanced at talking . she may not have crawled til 10months and only been walking a few weeks, but damnit the girl can talk. this week her new words are coffee and keys. coffee i understand (we spend our life stopping her trying to drink ours), but how keys came to register with her is a mystery.

we too have very recently got into in the night garden. have put dd in front of it before but she lost interest quickly. last couple of days she's loved it. it is great tho isnt it?

rozzy lol at "last four miles were hell" well done at taking 4 min off in the heat. i am soooo looking forward to starting to lose this weight.

we have had an influx of people calling bob robert and it all comes from dh's family. we've told all that bob is only robert on his birth certificate, but we've had two cards and one email from mil's friends/relatives and they've all called him robert . i kind of think you have to put the full name on birth certificate (and robert is a long standing family name on my side) but half of me is tempted to register him as bob. gah. i dont really like the name robert...

alkar - how is your ds? hope you've avoided any big reaction.

sarah - that would really wind me up re work. last thing you need when you're trying to keep things together in the house of ill. how is everyone now?

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 22/06/2009 22:07

Great to hear from you swotty, glad to hear you are doing so well!!!!1

we are all back to normal(well as normal as we can pass for) back to school and work- boohoo!!!!!!

dd is too a great talker, she refuses to be amused by the tv- unless its to turn it off why ds is watching nick junior!!!!!! she rarely plays either, would much rather help we witht he chores or empty my lant pots over her head and the dog!!!!!

must admit she is bloody lovely though, although naughty¬!!!!we have started to sit her on the stairs for 1 min time out as she is getting very naughty!!!!! keeps biting ds for no reason and smaking everyone!!!(she also says SMACK SMACk too) not a clue where it has come from i am guessing it must be ds!!!!! its working and she understands (we have always done it with ds she wuite often sits next to him and says- "alright" (so cute!!!!!!)

anyhow, off for a shower abd bed, spk tomorrow ladies xx

alkar · 23/06/2009 04:44

Been up about 30 mins, DS is really hot. I'm presuming its from his mmr as he's not himself either. Fingers crossed it doesn;t turn into anything more and it doesn't last long?????

rozzyraspberry · 23/06/2009 19:40

Hope your ds is ok Alkar.

Sarah - my ds3 is a handful and can be stroppy at times but the cuteness makes up for it!!! I wouldn't say he was 'naughty' as such - more micheivious (sp??). Ds2 went through a stage of biting poor ds1 - luckily he never bit any other children - he did grow out of it though once we started doing 'time out'.

Great to hear from you swotty - sounds like things are going pretty well - I hope your good days outweigh the bad. I was like you with the feeding with my first 2 - wouldn't even bf in front of my in-laws. Was easier with number 3 though especially once he was a bit older and I had got the hang of it. Have you posted your birth story yet - its nice to hear of nice experiences.

Has been really hot here again today - ds3 was up at 4.20am with the daylight and baby birds chirping away. So tonight there's a combination of thick blankets and towels pinned to his curtains until I can get a more permanent solution!! Anyone else having similar problems?

gingermumi · 24/06/2009 12:47

Hope Ds is ok alkar.

Rozzy ds is up at the crack of dawn every day! 5am today, don't think it has anything to do with how light it is (i read somewhere that they an internal clock set at 'their time'and darkening the room or keeping them up late wont make any difference). We have blackout curtains and have kept ds up and neither work! Not sure what the answer is.

Ds is quite rough in his games but not too naughty (yet) though he does have his moments and knows when he isn't supposed to do something. This morning when I took him to my mums he stood in front of her glass cabinet shaking his head and laughing because she had left the key in it and he wanted to take it but knew he shouldn't!

He still says the same words (cat mostly) and the catch all 'Da' for anyone he's calling to. He is very good at making it clear what he wwants though. He seems to have stopped sayingt soem things like daisy (mums dog) but I'm working on the fact that he's a boy and they do often develop their language skills later.

Anyway, supposed to be working! Hope all ok

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 24/06/2009 15:06

i have today been to the school where ds will start full time in sept- we had a parent meeting to discuss the changes- and what happens in sept etc all very exciting but still sad my littler boy is all grown up!!!!lol

his teacher is called miss Hopes, she is new to the school and will start sept!!!!!!

DS went into the big classroom today for the first time and had a great time!!!!!!lol

swottybetty · 24/06/2009 21:59

how was ds today alkar? posts at funny times in the morning are always worrying. i hope his temp went down and you got some sleep.

ginger - dont say that about blackouts not making ant difference we have just bought some portable ones called baa baa blackouts off the internet. dd wakes 5am-ish at the moment and can only be persuaded to go back to sleep half the time.

should go to sleep myself - how do you guys with more than two kids cope?????????? EGG if you check in how on earth were you not institionalised in the first few weeks of having the twins???

rozzy... at feeding in front of inlaws i am much more repressed than that.

rozzyraspberry · 25/06/2009 20:08

Hi all.

Sarah - we had our pre school visit with ds2 today - he was so excited and it all went fine. I'm a bit more laid back about it all this year having gone through it all with ds1 last year. I'm looking forward to not having the nursery pick up at lunchtime so I'll have full days to do more with ds3 on my days off.

Swotty/Ginger - putting the blankets and towels over ds3 window seems to be doing the trick so far. He's still waking up just after 4 but has gone back to sleep the last couple of mornings. In fact this morning when I picked him up for a cuddle just after 4 he made it quite clear he just wanted to go back into his bed which is a first!!

Ds1's class are doing a circus performance tomorrow - ds is an acrobat. Can't wait - they did their dress rehearsal in front of the rest of the school today and apparently they were all very impressed.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 27/06/2009 12:29

Congrats Swotty.
Has Missnat posted since Henley was hospitalised? I hope he's okay.

No words here yet from LO. Am feeling positively inadequate!!

strawberrycornetto · 28/06/2009 18:46

Hey all. Been horribly busy so no time to MN. Am just sticking this in now so I can hopeuflly do a proper update when DCs are in bed.

Swotty, glad you and Bob are doing well

strawberrycornetto · 28/06/2009 22:30

Hi again.

My news is that DS is still waiting for his repeat sweat test, which we have on Thursday. In the meantime, he had another chest infection the week before last and then another allergic reaction to antibiotics. DH was also away all week and so it was really tough. Last week, I had just the worst possible week at work, I worked more than 70 hours. I didn't see either DC hardly at all and felt really miserable. DD was ill last week and today it turns out she has a bad case of tonsillitis. So all pretty rubbish in our house, to be honest. That's why I haven't posted, nothing really worth sharing

Can't really answer everyone's posts properly, but just to say, we swear by blackouts. We have travel ones (ie I bought some black out lining and pin it up when we are away) and it does make a difference. ALso, DS tends to wake up at 5.30 ish and if I ignore him for 5 minutes, he goes back to sleep.

Anyway, hope you are all well. I have missed you.

ImSallyIHaventAClue · 28/06/2009 22:52

Hello all.
Just popped in quickly to say congrats Swotty.
And hello to everyone else, Sarah, Gill, Srawberry, rozzy, ljkk, Bessie, Alkar, Egg et al.
DS walking and talking well but OMG the boy WILL NOT EAT. Well, he will eat biscuits very happily, but won't eat proper food. arrrgggghhh swore I was not gonna be a biscuit mum but too late already.

Bessie123 · 29/06/2009 08:50

Sally - we have the same problem when dd is not feeling great, she only wants biscuits. If we give in, we usually give her organix sugar free ones. Have you tried giving your ds smoothies? Dd loves them and will always drink them. You can get Ella's kitchen ones that are mess free.

alkar · 29/06/2009 17:39

Hi all. Not posted in ages. DS had a rough couple of days last week but we kept giving him paracet / brufen and his temp stayed under control. I'm glad we had it done then as it was much cooler last week than it is now.

DS has just come up to me I think he wants me to play outside with him so I'd better go. Thanks for all your support xx

miniandme · 29/06/2009 20:56

Gingermumi i had to laugh at your description of ds standing in front of the cabinet laughing and knowing hes not to touch it its so sweet eh ,DT jack does that too he is much better at not touching than Abby she just wades right in!! Tonight drawing all over dh flat screen tv with a drumstick!!
Am at those of you having lovely weather-up here in scotland ours is still negligable as summer ! We have good news ..... we have got a bigger house woohoo !! Moving in about the end of july to a much larger house with 4 bedrooms and built on garage,we're currently in a 3 bed !
Both the twins have the cold which is dreadful as they are both sooo clingy, jack at docs in the morning about possible asthma, another ailment to add to the list !!
Hope everyone is well and enjoys the weather while its here !!

swottybetty · 29/06/2009 21:35

hello all. god tis hot. our blackouts have got us to 6am-ish quite a bit but no later. she's still taking so long too go down in the evenings. how much does everyones' dcs sleep at the moment? dd goes down between seven and half past but is rarely asleep before eight - sometimes nine. wakes 6am. so i would say 10 hours at night and a two hour nap in day.

seventy hours of work strawb? bejeez that is too much even for full timer who doesnt also look after two little ones. hope all goes well on thurs and sorry both your dc have been so poorly.

sally - dh does the sainsburys shop and always takes dd with him. when they get to the aisle wth the baby biscuits, she apparently starts leaning out of the trolley and pleading for "bisk plis"

god we are frazzled here. ds a lovely little thing but he really hates not being cuddled. luckily he is put downable in the wee-est of hours so we are getting some kip - but the rest of the time he is strapped to one or other of us. dh found out how to get him to settle on his own in the day today. alas it was by lying him on his front. he then went off and googled SIDS and told me we wont be doing it again.

dd is still fairly disinterested in ds. she likes to lurch in to give him eskimo kisses and she wont let a nappy change happen without her involvement, but thats about it. if you announce he needs a change, she'll get up and make her way to the bathroom saying poo-y over and over. she attempts to wipe him down and will start doing comedy sniffing if it's a poo. he wee'd all over me the other day she laughed so hard. it really made me smile that toilet humour and slapstick are not learnt.

alkar · 30/06/2009 08:46

swotty, my mum said I was like that with my sister when she was born.

We start bathing DS at about 7 -7.30 then he'l go to bed 8ish sometimes he'll fall asleep straight away and others he chatters to himself for ages. He tends to sleep until 8 unless I have to get him up any earlier. He has a nap at 11.30 for an hour or so although it was 3 hours yesterday

rozzyraspberry · 30/06/2009 15:29

So lovely to log on and see so many messages!

Swotty - ds3 goes down at 7 and sleeps until around 6.15/6.30 now we have the blackouts up. He doesn't sleep for anymore than around 1.5 hours during the day. I usually get my shopping delivered but went to asda today with ds3 - never again - he just kept reaching into the trolley for things - all my cereal boxes were opened and he bit a chunk out of the cat food box. He also kept pointing and screeching whenever he saw any food that he recognised and wanted. Back to delivery for me especially as I will also have ds1 and ds2 for the next 7 weeks as schools break off for summer holidays on Thursday. I have an easy day today though as ds1 is at the circus with school and I don't have to pick him up until 6.15!!

Strawberry at 70 hour week - you must be exhausted especially with dc ill and dh away. Hope you get ds sweat test done soon.

We're off on holiday next Monday - can't wait - especially since I'm off work for 3 weeks.

Hope everyone is well and all dc are well too.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 01/07/2009 12:20

Egg · 01/07/2009 12:44

Hello all lovely to read so much news. Esp nice to hear you are getting on well Swotty and Bob is a lovely lad (of course!).

Just wanted to add my to Strawb's 70hr week. That's hideous. I sincerely hope you are being paid for your overtime.

Not much time (as usual) now but didn't want to lose touch with everyone. DD just did the equivalent of 3 poos in one (mushy) go and I didn't notice quickly enough, I am having to walk round the room looking for splats of poo where it came out the sides. Sadly our carpet is poo coloured anyway (well kind of beigeish bleurgh colour) so they are hard to spot.

Off to London on Friday with DS1 (just the two of us) to see The Wiggles LIVE on Saturday. Woooohooooooooooooooo.
