Hiya Gill hope you and Malc are well (and your DP of course!).

My two are not real talkers either. DD is way ahead of DS2 but neither really say much that it recognisable. DS2 only says "daaa daaa" all the time. it changes slightly to "du du" when he sees ducks or "doh doh" when he sees a dog. He occasionally says "mama" when he is desperate for me to notice him and he can't reach me to climb on my lap/kiss me/cling to me. He can say a few other sounds but never bothers with them.

DD uses lots of different sounds and says the beginning sound for a fair few things "maaaaa" when she wants milk etc, and can say "nana" and "laa laa" but really nothing spectacular!

DS1 only said "daaaadeeeeeeee" until he was bout two so am not worried!

DD is walking everywhere now. She looks hilarous as she is so small.

Got an appt through for DS2s allergy testing which is next month.

Rozzy fantastically well done on your half marathon! Bet your boys are proud of you.
lljkk your DS4s rituals sound almost funny except I can imagine they get very annoying! My DD has a bedtime one now and she likes to spend some time looking at the photos on the door (family pics), then she likes to lie down and eat her blankie before yelling for her teletubbies book. If you give her the teletubbies book before she yells for it she gets cross...... Then she pretends to read the book (saying "laa laa" over and over) and then she puts the book to one side and resumes blankie eating, and I am free to leave the room. It is cute as it is very quick but if she tries to do any mealtime ones I will not be happy!

AStrawb lots of luck for your DSs tests. Fingers crossed it is "just" asthma. How is his weight now?

Sarah how is Harry with his tonsillitis now?

Oooh and I am very excited as we have finally booked a HOLIDAY. Just to Center Parcs again, not daring to get on a plane just yet, but we loved it last time. Not going until September but something to look forward to. Yay!

Helloooo Betty! So much good luck for the impending birth. Really feel for you with all the illnesses. You'll find the first few weeks with a newborn easy compared to how you are feeling now! How is little Terry doing in there? Is he keeping you up at night with his kicking?

Ooops forgot to say I at Harry telling everyone you were expecting No 3 Sarah! Esp that he is going to be called George!

Bugger while I was typing that DS2 tipped an entire mug of coffee over himself and floor. Thankfully it was only lukewarm (I like lots of milk) but I am normally soooo careful about cups being within reach. My house stinks of coffee now. Lucky DTs are having a bath this morning.

Hi guys, hope all well. Just a quickie to say hi to swotty - I had a search on your recent posts and see you're stressing about the (home)birth - PLEASE try not to, I know it's hard but if a clean house is essential for a homebirth I would not have had 4 of them, believe me! I am a terrible housewife (not quite Kim & Aggie but piles of junk, dust everywhere) and it doesn't matter, just chuck a cheap duvet down wherever you end up giving birth and it'll cover any dirt anyway! IF you're feeling run down try Floradix or Spatone, they can make a difference really quickly. One of my homebirths (in fact the one where the midwife didn't arrive) my iron levels were about 8, so I felt pretty run down beforehand, but when you give birth your body just takes over and gets on with it.

Try and concentrate on only reading nice birth stories too, like 2 of mine which are on the homebirth site! And just think about the gorgeous snuggly baby you're going to have soon and how jealous some of us will be!

Can't look back through thread to see who's said what but I remember Rozzy did a half marathon (?) well done you!!

And someone wanted to move to NZ/Aus? That's what we're doing at the end of the year, which is a lot of hassle but will be a positive thing for the whole family, hopefully.

I would type more but DS4 has removed many of the keys from my laptop so it's slow going

take care everyone x

Hi there, Egg found me on another thread and asked why I'd toodled off... 'Twas just that RL got a bit overwhelming, had my op to repair my shredded bits early in the year and lost track of the thread and had no time to catch up.
But here I am - if I may rejoin?

Jackbaby is 15 months old (duh, like everyone else's babies ), has a mouthful of teeth, started walking around New Year's (and started running a week later - gah!). He's still a little milk monster so we occasionally have to sort of "teeth vs nipple" (aaaaahhhhh!!!). He talks lots... wish I knew what he's saying . I don't think I have any new pics posted - will do that later... but there are a few older ones on my profile.

Gotta go get showered (does anyone else just take their l.o. in the bathroom or the actual shower with them to keep them out of trouble?, but will pop in later.

Thanks Egg!!!

have to sort out "teeth vs nipple"... I need more coffee... it's still morning here and I've had only one cup because Dh drank most of the pot before he went to work!

Hiya ladies, big apologies for not speaking for so long. Have been really busy with work and often too tired to do anything in evenings! DS is huuuuuge and lovely! He says all sorts of things but generally it's guess work as to what they mean. he gets by on leading you to things, frantic pointing and if all else fails, screaming loudly He does say 'cat' and has been for months but that's the only consistent thing. He says something once and then wont do it again (the other day he ran up to dh, pointed and said clearly 'daddy' but hasn't done it since). He sometimes ssays things that sound like words (dayey for daisy, my mums dog and gadad for grandad) but I'm not sure if we just think he's saying things - if you see what I mean! he's not really changed much on that score for ages. He' very boisterous and apart from normal coughs and colds seems (touchwood) over the really bad infections he had before. Hope all well, Swooty must be nearly due now? Is anyone else pg again? anyyway, off to get a cuppa with dh he's going into hosp tomorrow for some tests (Tummy probs), i think he wants some company. Will try to post more often again.

No time for a proper post as have to pick ds2 up from nursery shortly but wanted to pop on and say hi to slacker, swotty, ginger and jacksmama - lovely to hear from you all again!!!

Egg/sarah - yeah to holidays!! I booked ours when I went back to work because I needed something to look forward to - we're going on 6th July to a cottage in Lancashire (Ribby Hall) and am very excited!

Good luck with the birth swotty - I agree with slacker concentrate on positive birth stories. I've had 3 straight forward births (in fact no 3 was such a good experience that I'd love to do it again but think 4 lo's could tip me over the edge!!). My 2nd birth was definitely easier than the first - mainly I think because I knew what I was getting at the end. Obviously I knew I was having a baby first time round but I didn't realise how fantastic having a baby would be. Take care of yourselfxxx

Better go now.

Good luck Swotty! I hope you have an early, quick and happy birth! And you'll be back to "normal" albeit with twice the number of children!

Hello Egg - long time! I love the sound of DD's bedtime routine.

Alkar and Sarah - very impressed and amused by the words and sounds. After a long plateau I think Malc starting to make more progress - for ages we've had "ba"- bath, "bu" - bubbles, "ba" - ball, "bwu" - bread - you get the idea. Also the word duck is now used for all birds, water, and a variation "dac" for cats. Dogs and most four legged animals are "ummf ummf"
Strawberry - very impressed with "makkapakka".That seems a long way off (especially given that it doesn't begin with b) although the nursery insisted he said "ee-i, ee-i o" the other day .

We'e just back from a great two weeks in Scoland - a week fairly wet in Glasgow and then over to Fife on the east coast and fantastic (if cold) weather - spent every day on a beach letting Malc run free or playing with his bucket and spade. Was so great having so much space as he will head off into the distance wherever you go and I'm always having to fetch him back from the edge of the park.

His personality is developing so much and while he's more and more funny and cheeky with us he's getting much more reserved and quiet when we're out. It's a bit but think that he firstly just loves exploring and wondering off on his own (so never stays to play with the other toddlers) and also takes him a long time to get used to new people and places. It's so strange as he's like a different person. I'm getting loads and loads of cuddles at the moment though and he's got very good at kisses (although does like to grab my head and sometimes bite which is not so good!)

Here he is being a little (ok, very) odd

He cut four teeth (inc two molars) first week of our holiday it was BAD.

Anyone else having trouble with bath-time? Malc decided he doesn't really like it at all will only tolerate if he stays standing up and doesn't have to be washed. Tricky.

Hello everyone I haven't mentioned! Am going to try and stick some holiday pics on now.

Hello all. Sorry I joined and then appeared to have left again but it has been a crazy few weeks at work but school holidays are upon us so now i get to play .

Gill79 I am having terrible trouble with bath time. DD has always loved her bath but has now obviously decided that she prefers the scruffy and smelly baby look. Shabby chic and all that. As soon as she gets in she stands up and attempts to get out. As for hair washing...well at least i get a good wash while doing it.

I have also discovered that, since birth, DD has mastered the art of disguise. She had cunningly convinced me that she was the perfect baby. Slept through at 8 weeks, never wakes up during the night (even when teething) ate everything i put in front of her (even cauliflower and i don't even like that!) and was generally adorable. Fast forward to 16 months and she is still adorable, funny and beautiful but is also wilful, stroppy and a bully! DS, bless him, is 5 and DD spends half her time slapping him, pulling his hair etc. He is so sweet natured with her but am sure one of these days he will turn round and slap her back. I even picked her up from the childminders yesterday and was told she had scratched the other two toddlers and marked their faces. I was mortified! As I said, this one should really find a career as an undercover spy!

Gill - where were you in Fife? I live in Cupar near St Andrews.

No problems with bath time here - but Andrew goes in the bath with his 2 big brothers so it's good fun for him.

I think its normal for kids of this age to play on their own. As they get older it turns into 'parallel play' where they're playing beside each other doing similar things but aren't actually fully interacting. Eventually properly interacting. My ds1 was a slow developer in this and only started properly interacting with other kids when he was about 4. Ds2 is completely different on the other hand and is much more sociable.

Quite a nice day here today - better go and get some tidying done whilst ds1 and ds2 are at school/nursery and ds3 is having a snooze.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Hello all. Loads of posts this week so I can't really keep up.

Thanks for the wishes about DS's tests. I'm still kind of frantic, and kind of lonely cause I can't really share even with DH how worried I am because he's taking the male osterich approach, which I understand (wish I could do it too). We are going on holiday on Sunday for two weeks so we couldn't arrange the tests until 10 June. Am keeping everything crossed for good news. Sometimes I am convinced it will be bad news, other times I cannot believe my perfect little man could be seriously ill.

On a cheerier note, we are off to France for 2 weeks with friends on Sunday. I am ridiculoulsy excited, I haven't had a two week holiday since I was about 17 (i.e. since my parents stopped paying!).

Egg, DS is still very small. He's not 20 pounds yet. He's not quite walking but will look equally silly when he does. My friends' 9 and 10 month old babies are overtaking him now!

Swotty, I'm really glad to hear from you. Sorry you are struggling, but just think how wonderful it will be when your little one arrives. Am very jealous. Have put our baby plans on hold for now

I'm sure the sweat test will be ok strawberry, you haven't mentioned a family history of cf so I guess its unlikely. Just make sure they collect enough sweat then you wonn't have to go through it all again.

Good luck swotty. Very jealous of your home birth, I'm convinced I wouldn't've needed a cs if I'd had my way and had DS at home.

On the nigth shift again tonight, no-one else would do it again. Its always like this in the Summer months.

Taking DS to get his feet measured tomorrow, I think they've grown so his flashing trainers will be too small soon !

Hi to everyone else, hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend.

Quick hello to everyone. Hope you are all getting lots of nice weather this weekend.

Hello to swotty lots of love and luck coming your way.

Hello to strawb as well. DD is still only 18lbs and she is a couple of months older so he is not too weeny. We met a gorgeous lad at the swings yesterday who was a bit weenier than DD and he was 20 months. He was small but so perfect and very very handsome! Fingers crossed your DS is the same and just naturally a petite lad. DD looks hilarous walking and DS1 does a great impression of her (sorry have a feeling I told you all that already but not sure!).

Alkar sorry you are stuck on the night shift again! My DS1 has had various flashing shoes (currently flashing sandals!) but DS2 is yet to get any. Didn't see any in his size (he is still a 4 and DD still a 2!).

Big wave to Gill and Ginger good to see you back on the thread chatting away.

Sorry was planning to type more but DS1 was calling out upstairs (he wanted a wee).

Elliepac glad we didn't scare you off! I guessed from your post that you are a teacher and then checked your profile, I think there are a couple of others on here as well (gingermumi is one, and swotty is married to one, and am sure there is another, is it omy or princessllama?).

My lot still love baths and DTs are gutted in the evenings often as I run my bath to have after they go to bed and they are jumping around in the bathroom in excitement thinking it is for them and then wail in disappointment when I put them to bed. Even DS1 still loves a bath. Sadly they don't get bathed often enough! All three got done tonight though as they were filthy from the garden and the swings.

Am finding swings veeeeery hard at the mo. Both DTs are impossible to watch at same time even on same piece of play equipment. One will fall off one edge and the other will be stepping off the other side and falling on their face. Urgh. Let's hope they learn fast!

Rozzy I agree with what you say about "friends" at this age. I remember watching DS1 at nursery when he was a little bit older and feeling sad if I saw him on his own, and they kept assuring me that they don't actually have real friends at such a young age and it is often not until the age of 3 that they make real friends. Sure enough it has only really been this year that DS1 has been really playing with the same friends over and over at nursery and talking about them (non stop!). DS2 likes to go up to girls at the swings though and smile sweetly before pushing them over or trying to open mouth kiss them .

Ginger hope DH was ok at the hospital. How are your stunning DDs? Hope all is well with you. We must plan another summer meet up soon.

Better go and get some food ready. Having to tape Britain's Got Talent tonight as it is so long (1.5hrs) DH refuses to watch it. He has agreed we can watch tomorrow and fast forward through all the ads!
