Hi girls, thought I would start a new thread as DD2 is one on Thursday .

Can you believe a whole year has passed already?

HM LOL at your little independent DS...I know what you mean. DD2 is v cute but also getting v independent. I do a mix of spoon feeding and finger feeding (I know not BLW as such). She is thankfully a very clean eater like her sister...it must be genetic!
I know people will slate me for this, but I really couldn't cope with all that mess. My days are demanding enough!

Joking aside, the latest version of Christopher Green's 'Toddler Taming' is brilliant.

Big news in the lucky household...DD2 took 3 steps on her own today!!! So she may well be proper walking before her birthday (you've got 2 days DD2....no pressure!)

Still no sign of chicken pox.....

HM not sure what kind of boat you have, but we went on our friends when we were in france and DD2 loved it - we didnt have a life vest for her, but we just let her crawl round when it was stopped, and when it was moving we strapped her into her totseat (which by the way are fantastic and I wish I had discovered it sooner!) and she had a great time! Hve fun! x

fuzzypeach · 28/06/2009 09:44

when I said Im not sure what kind of boat you have, I then meant to say we went on our friends speed boat... as in I dont know if you have a rowing boat, canoo (sp??!) speed boat or yacht not that it makes any difference to anything, but hey im not with it this morning, so ignore me!

luckymummy74 · 28/06/2009 20:39

Phew! Just cyled 25 miles.....for fun! Had a ride around the lovely country roads that are 5 mins from where I live, ended up getting lost and nearly ended up in Luton....my first clue being a rather low and therefore large aeroplane not very far above my head . Mananged to navigate my way home eventually!

FP nice to hear from you. Denny lost the weight by not really dieting as such, she loves her food (don't we all!) but she exercises nearly everyday. It is well beyond me how she finds not only the time but also the energy to do this, she has 3 kids! So that's it, 1-2 hour sessions at the gym 4 times a week and home DVDs the other nights I think.

I have managed to go from 11 stone 2 lbs which I was at Easter, to ........> 11 stone 1 lb...ha ha ha!!! one bloody lb in weeks. It's not that I'm not trying, I seem to get to 11 stone 2lbs and just get stuck! I am feeling very motivated by the upcoming hen weekend and then the wedding. You've done really well so far, keep going!

Also FP I am right with ya sista on the whole DD1 being a nightmare.....cor blimey she is driving me crackers! Lots of naughty step and toys being taken away etc, no treats. I too am looking forward to Sept!!!!

HM hope the boat was fun......you live in a totally different world to me!!!!! I'm sure Haribo loved it . You take care too on that big slippy boat, oh pregnant one!

We got a massive paddling pool in Asda for £10 (reduced from £20) and it's fab! We all spent the afternoon in it and had a lovely day!

LM wow thats fantastic, well done you! Think that would kill me!
To be honest in the past the only times I have successfully lost weight is when I have been to the gym a lot each week. I am aiming to go 4-5 times a week at the moment, but its hard fitting it round DHs shifts and not really got anyone to help out - managed 4 times this week, and did Davina this morning for the first time in ages - was absolutely dripping with sweat at the end though (lovely image for you!!) I hae gone from 14st 9lbs after having DD2 down to 11st at the moment (although I was 10st 13lbs 4 weeks ago, then put 9lbs on on hols )

DD1 been driving me crazy again today, this time being totally selfish towards DD2, things like DD2 was enjoying climbing into a kid sized chair we have whilst I was doing davina, and DD1 was getting jealous, so the was getting things to lure DD2 out of the chair, then jumping in it the minute she had got out, then saying "but she got out of it, I didnt lift her out!!" just sneaky little mean things like that, been tearing my hair out!!! Actually now I have read that back that sounds like i am being petty, but I know what I mean!!

fuzzypeach · 28/06/2009 21:03

ps paddling pool today? lucky you, its been "peeling it down" here (DD1s expression after hearing me say peeing it down to Dh on the phone, oops!!)

Haribosmummy · 28/06/2009 21:16

Oops! Sorry for the multiple posts earlier! [bush] I think I'll blame the fact DS was on my lap!!!

LM - 25 miles Hope your legs aren't too achy tomorrow!!!

FP - Hopefully you will have some nice weather tomorrow. LOL at Peeling down though!! It poured down here yesterday evening (we had a terrible thunder storm too!) but it's been gorgeous today!

We had a lovely time on the boat - even though DS did try a rather unique method of disembarking!! (FP - I saw the pictures of your trip on the speedboat - ours in NOTHING like that plus you can only go 5 knotts on the river!) but it was good fun nonetheless. I will put some photos on FB soon.

We won't really see DSD1 now till the end of the summer - she is on holiday from Friday... She's going to aboout 4 different places with different friends and then back to us at the end of the summer. Can't believe she is SOOOO grown up!!!

Can't believe it's only 4 weeks before our new arrival will be here. It's seems really weird to consider that there will be another little one to consider. We have a nanny sorted now, so that's a relief and we have cleaners and an ironing service sorted too, so I will have help, but I just can't get my head around there being 2 babies!

Hope everyone is well...

Mitchell - Hope you are well!
Flick - Will mail you about Thursday
Macaco - Hope you are looking forward to the new venture!
Mocat - Do you finish for summer holidays soon?
MM - How are you keeping?
Hello to everyone else Sho, Baiyu (Your photos on FB are so lovely.. ), GW

Night! HM x

monkeysmama · 28/06/2009 22:22

Hey girls

Dp is still away so having another evening in on my own - spent most of it surfing the net buying things on his credit card , eating a takeaway, working my way through a bottle of red wine (well 2 glasses) and am now indulging in CSI re runs!

Had a nice weekend if a hot one. You're lucky you're not in London HM - it is swelteringly hot here - I was awake for hours last night wondering whether to undo the window (I get scaredy cat when dp is away) & after an hour of thinking I got up to undo the window only to find the decorators we had in a few weeks back had painted them shut!

Our conservatory leaked last night too! Dd was really frightened of the thunder - so was trying to be calm and deal with that when I realised I wasn't going crazy hearing things but water was indeed gushing into the house. Oh joy! I felt quite good later on having found some of my old self. I looked after everything until I met dp but am not allowed (well, not not allowed but whatever) to put a picture up (I make messy holes in the walls apparently)

Am I the only one who feels really guilty at losing my temper with dd? I try so hard but sometimes I just shout "stop it" and she looks at me all confused and I feel awful. Tell me I'm not scarring her for life!

Right - better concentrate on CSI (not that the plot is ever that thick)

Night girls

MM

thefortbuilder · 29/06/2009 09:51

MM aren't you pretty close to me? we had no thunder and pretty much no rain last night! I could kill for some rain for the garden.

baiyu · 29/06/2009 10:04

Hello!
Finally have internet in new home, woo!
Moonwalk went really well, thank you soooo much to all of you who sponsored me, very very generous and kind of you What lovely friends.

macaco don't worry you haven't missed anything, no bun in the oven just yet! I really want to be pregnant again soon though so as soon as we're married I want to start TTC. (for the vain I want to be thin and drink at my wedding reasons not any ring on my finger hang ups!) I really want another, the only thing I'll be sad to lose is my newly aquired waist hides! Must be the BFing and maybe my genes, I've never been this thin in my life.

HM Thanks for admiring my photos, can't really take the credit, DP is semi-proffessional. His website is here

monkeysmama your holiday sounds bliss

LM and fuzzy sorry your older DDs are being challenging! We have this all to come...

DS is doing brilliantly, just about walking few tiny steps at a time. Blethers away and causes so much havoc. Sleep seemed to be improving (after finding DP in a broken knackered heap semi hysterical on the floor I decided it was time for Toddler taming!) but i think DS is getting a bit immune to the methods and fussing and crying a lot. We do have some ore teeth coming through I think so not worying too much.

Very jealous of all this nice weather the rest of the country is having, Edinburgh has been in deep haar/mist for about 4 days. Very low visibility and quite cold. Thinking about going to Glasgow after DS's nap as I could do with a change of scene and some sun!

Have a great day everyone

Niknak21 · 30/06/2009 15:23

Afternoon all,

Hope all is well. We've just got back from a Week in Italy, not enough sun for some people, although I thought it was ok. No real dramas, but not enough sleep with LOs waking each other at about 5 most mornings. DS2 is still in the habit and we're knackered. Still no unaided walking, I don't think he's realised it is possible to balance without holding someone's hand.

Well done LM for mammouth bike ride. Did go to do a class this morning, but forgot my shoes, so had a cup of tea instead and read the paper . Tesco was a lot more bearable after a sit down though.

Have fun x

shonnomanom · 02/07/2009 08:06

hey ladies

just on for a wee quick rant before i go to work...

took dd to the hv because she has barely eaten in over a week due to having a really bad flu not swine although it was never even mentioned, anyways we were talkin about dds walkin as i had commented on her fallin alot. the hv(locum) was angry that dd had been on her feet since 5months, granted she wasnt goin solo until 2months ago. claiming it wasnt very good for her!
then she went on to tell me that it was ok to start given dd formula again while she is unwell. apparently, dd should have been off formula when she turned 1!! am i not right in thinkin that babes shouldnt be gettin cow milk until they are one...

anyways rant over
hope everyone is well
need to get dd up and dressed so we can go to work

loving this sunshine, im starting to get a tan, which is very uncommon for me, i usually just burn, regardless of spf factor

sho x

Haribosmummy · 02/07/2009 19:26

Sho - You have my total sympathy!! There doesn't appear to be any common training given to HVs - they ALL spout something different!

The last one I saw was pleased DS didn't want to walk (he can, just doesn't want to) as 'crawling is instrumental in brain development and children who miss the crawling phase have problems' - WTF? What utter tosh!!!!

I've also been told to get DS off formula and to stop giving him a bottle as 'his teeth will go funny' - well DSD1 had a bottle till the age of 6 and she has perfect teeth!!

AFAIK, there is actually no problem with cows milk under 1 (but over around 8MO) it's just a case of iron intake (but that also came from a HV, so might be total tosh too!) FWIW, Haribo still LOVES his milk and in this hot weather, I'm more than happy to provide that for him rather than fight a huge battle to get him to take water (though I do dilute the milk quite a bit now to make sure he's taking plenty of fluids)

Anyway... I had my 35week scan today - all good. Got a 4D picture of her and she is the POP of Haribo. She is breech, so the sonographer was able to get a really good face shot! Still can't believe I'll have another baby in 4 weeks ... She is 5lbs 9ozs now, so I guess will be around 7-8lbs when she's born. i will have to think of a new name!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine! It's been gorgeous here, but I have to go to 'work' tomorrow morning (teacher training placement.. It's only 3 hours though, so I should cope!!)

TTFN,

HM x

thefortbuilder · 02/07/2009 22:39

HM so glad it all went really well today!

shona - HVs talk a load of old bollocks sooooo much of the time.

I don't know what you've been told but lo's can have formula till they're 2 and follow on milk till they're 3 if you want to. and WHO uidelines advise that breastmilk can be all they need till they're 1 in any case so they don't even need cows milk till after then anyway. and have a look on the anit cows milk websites - they're pretty informative. both my ds's have had bouts on soya milk for intolerance and neither of them drink much milk n ow but they both have a good amount of yoghurt cheese and proper butter as well as calxium absorbing things (ie if you have a cup of broccoli it has as much absorbable calcium as half a pint of milk).

we haven't seen a HV for a very long time as personally i don't trust them.

HM when are you up here next that we can meet up???

shonnomanom · 03/07/2009 21:00

ou would think that hv would all be preaching the same stuff but clearly not. I always remember when I was pregnant everyone telling me to tell the hv what she wanted to hear. Makes life easier eh.

Poor wee dd has heyfever Oddly enough she's fine when we'r at home, but it flares up when we go to the village where I work and my mum lives. Thank goodness for Piriton!

DP has just been told he has ANOTHER hernia. This will be is 3rd! Should hopefully have his op late August.

Hope everyone has a good weekend
My mum is taking dd overnight so we can go see Transformers2 at the Glasgow Imax

monkeysmama · 05/07/2009 22:06

Hey girls

It is getting really quiet on here!

I am home alone again - dp's gone to the Madonna concert with a friend because we couldn't get a baby sitter . We bought 4 tickets and kind of forgot we had them until last night which was too late to Ebay them etc & there were not touts at the venue so 2 of them went un used. At £90 a throw I am not too happy.

We went for a nice meal on Friday evening then to a friend's yesterday overnight with 3 other couples and their kids. Our friend has just finished renovating a beautiful house in West London and invited us all over for a bbq and drink. It was nice but I was exhausted this morning and dd had a bit of a moany day which didn't help.

It's really muggy again in this part of London.

Dd's having an immunisation tomorrow - the final one of the 3 they're supposed to have which I think she should've had months ago . Have all your LOs had the MMR now?

Hope everyone's okay. HM how're you feeling? Not too tired I hope. When I'm having a very tired moment I often think of you and wonder how you're coping being heavily pg at the same time. Hope everyone else is well and happy.

Going to get back to CSI!

luckymummy74 · 05/07/2009 22:45

Evening all. MM gutted about the Madonna tickets? I bet you could have got rid of them on MN??

Been on another bike ride, bit more tame, just 15 miles tonight. Got a pair of trousers I want to wear on my sister's hen weekend which is only 2 weeks away now! Got to lose a couple more lbs if I can.

sho don't listen to those bloody HV's, they are useless a lot of the time. Go with your instinct.

HM are you getting excited? I was telling DH about your impending DD and I said 'imagine having DD2 now, and then another newborn in a few weeks....' He just did that 'sharp intake of breath between pursed lips!!!' I'm not a big fan of the first 6 months to a year. DD2 is just adorable now and eveyday I want to eat her she is so delicious!!!

It's my wedding anniversary tomorrow. 7 years. I have arranged for my sis to babysit and I am taking DH out for dinner, as a suprise!

Have a good week all of you!

just v quickly as checking in - if you ever need to get rid of tickets it's always worth putting them on as a facebook status update - i got rid of the PSB ones that way.

and i have a head cold.... ds1 has been suffering for a few days, sam is getting it and i can't stop sneezing and have a streaming nose (sorry if TMI!) at least no temp and shivers so we know it's not pig flu

Haribosmummy · 08/07/2009 12:40

Just marking for later.

Hope everyone is well.

Mitchell81 · 08/07/2009 13:20

Hello everyone hope you and your little ones are all well.

DS2 still not walking unaided he has got till the end of the month to be the same age as when DS1 started. So I am not worried.
His understanding is gettig better everyday, they grow up so quickly.

Going away to my parents holiday house this weekend and going to see how it will be with the boys sharing a room with us (well this time just me as DH is working). Hoping it makes no differnce to DS2 and he carries on sleeping well, but he is such a light sleeper.

It is school holidays here already so all the activities stop. So I am trying to keep them all entertained.

monkeysmama · 08/07/2009 15:06

Hey girls

just checking in while dd has a quick nap before we head out to meet dp at the bank to finally set up a joint bank account so I don't have to ask for scraps of cash everyday

have been a bit down past few days. I have lots of sisters & until about 5 years ago was very close to them all. Me & the sister down from me were incredibly tight growing up & into our early 20s but have seen each other about 10 times over the past few years even though we live in London & both see our other sisters frequently. Anyway, she's pg & due soon & I kept all dd's stuff for her. I made a spreadsheet with all the things Ihad, anote about them & web links so she could see them & then added pages of other things she might need &my advice (breast pumps etc) So she said she wanted everything I had to give which works out about £2 grands worth!!!! Anyway we'd been discussing when I could take it over & I was quite exited thinking motherhood might makes us closer again. Then yesterday I spoke to our dad who said something about her baby shower on Saturday (he one just gone) I knew he must be confused until I texted one of my other sistrs &yes, she had a baby shower with 30 close mates & my other sisters on Saturday. shouldn't matter but I couldn't stop crying yesterday. Dp doesn't want her to have any of the stuff now but she's due this week & I'd promised babygrows etc so can't leave her without. She's loaded though so it isn't about the money. Just a bit hurt!

Anyway, will cheer up with a trip to the bank!

MM

Mitchell81 · 08/07/2009 15:36

Monkeysmama That is horrible, I would also be upset that I hadn't been invited.

Haribosmummy · 08/07/2009 20:21

Oh, MM, I can see why you would be so upset... Did you have a falling out about something??? It does seem like an odd thing to do, especially with her expecting you to give her your stuff (OK, I understand you offered, but still!) - Why would your other sisters not mention it?

FWIW, My DH would be thinking EXACTLY the same as your DP. I can see that you would still want to give it to her, but I think she should perhaps be making more of an effort to pick it up!

MItchell - Hope you have a nice time today. Lovely to talk to you on FB recently... You always sound so calm and in control unlike me!

I've been on the ropes here for a few days - Haribo hasn't been well at all. Horrid high temperature, shivers and very cranky. Thankfully, he is back to his cheery self now

LM - How are you? You made me laugh with your DH making that face bout a new born... I don't think we are ready for it either, to be honest, and DH will be back at work by the time the baby is here (in Germany!!!! so atleast he will get a good night's sleep!)

Flick - I'm def. going to be in London on 13th July if you are free.. MM - you too, if you are free and fancy a coffee / lunch? The buggy is on it's way to you now - should be with you tomorrow. I'll mail you the tracking number, though it's with ParcelFarce so I doubt they will be able to give you a delivery time!!!

Well, best get on... I have lots of housework to do (haven't done anything but the basics since Thursday!! )

HM xx

thefortbuilder · 09/07/2009 13:30

MM jjust quickly i would not give her the stuff. if it's not a question of the mone yshe can order stuff online and it will come before the baby is due. i think what you ahve gone through is really horrible

monkeysmama · 09/07/2009 13:48

I really appreciate your kind words. I feel much better today & have decided to forget it. I'd ordered all the things for labour for her as a little pressie-Bendy straws, arnica, ware spray. Someone did it for me & I loved it. All the stuff arrived yesterday & I wrapped it up but I'll drop it at my mum's. She may as well have it but my desire to see her's waned though she texted last night to ask me over tomorrow. Anyway, enough.

Thank you again for being nice to me -cheered me up.

MM x

Haribosmummy · 10/07/2009 19:31

Hey MM - Hope you are feeling OK about things now! I think it's lovely that you've gone ahead and got her the things you'd planned too - and I am sure it'll make you feel better in the long run too. Can you ask her why you didn't get an invite? might help clear the air a bit, IYSWIM, if you told her you felt upset and left out.

Hope you got your bank account sorted too!

Well, I have news here: I have been officially accepted onto Brunel Uni's teacher training programme starting in September I'm super chuffed about it. I'm only doing the part time flexible course which will take two years to complete but will mean I'm ready to go back to work in a child friendly environment in 2011 when haribo goes to nursery!

Hope everyone else is OK!

Baiyu - Are you still doing the Usbourne Books? Do you do any of those 'touchy feely ones' - haribo has a Usbourne 'trucks' book which he just adores and I'd like to get him some more but can't find any... I suppose they are quite like the 'that's not my...' books but he def. prefers the trucks one!!
