Hi girls, thought I would start a new thread as DD2 is one on Thursday .

Can you believe a whole year has passed already?

HM LOL at your little independent DS...I know what you mean. DD2 is v cute but also getting v independent. I do a mix of spoon feeding and finger feeding (I know not BLW as such). She is thankfully a very clean eater like her sister...it must be genetic!
I know people will slate me for this, but I really couldn't cope with all that mess. My days are demanding enough!

Joking aside, the latest version of Christopher Green's 'Toddler Taming' is brilliant.

Big news in the lucky household...DD2 took 3 steps on her own today!!! So she may well be proper walking before her birthday (you've got 2 days DD2....no pressure!)

Still no sign of chicken pox.....

Happy Birthday Mitchell's DS2!

HM you must be cream crakcered running round all day after DS as well as being pregnant !! how are you feelings? have you thought of a name yet?

Just been to get some photos done of DD2 by the photographer who did our wedding (and also some lovely ones of DD1 when she had just turned 1) she also took some of the girls together, she got some lovely shots and I cant wait to go back next week and see them!

monkeysmama · 12/05/2009 16:17

Afternoon ladies

HM I read your post with a wry smile. I had a little cry this afternoon because I am so tired of running round after dd. Her new favourite games are emptying the neatly folded clothes in her bedroom draws / my handbag / her change bag / anything she can find and the other is putting things in the toilet. I couldn't find my blusher brush anywhere this morning until I went for a pee.... She is also whining a hell of a lot which I do not cope well with. Suddenly she's arching her back to not get in her pram, screaming and whining.... She has 4 teeth coming through so I hope that's why.... I too can't imagine coping with this and being pregnant!

We had dd's 1st party at dp's parents at the weekend with 3 sets of friends with 2 kids each, and dp's sister and her 2 boys. Most things that could have gone wrong did - dp's sister's kid was violently sick about 15 minutes before our friends arrived, it wasn't sunny, everyone was c.2 hrs late (it's a long drive from London), dd fell asleep just as they arrived. But we had fun and she loved having all the other kids around. She got a little slide that was her cousins' and a cool paddling pool/ball thingy from dp's parents. She adores the slide.

We have party 2 on Saturday and party 3 on Sunday! Party 3 is just with my mum and will be fine but party 2 will see c70 of us having fun in the cloudly weather in our local park . Thursday is her actual birthday but not sure what we're doing yet.

Few questions for those of you with only one LO - how do you deal with sharing? How do your LOs deal with other kids? Dd gets very, very excited and wants to hig and kiss other kids. At our dancing class she keeps chasing the others round the play mats and grabbing hair, their clothes, what they're holding etc (she'll share what she has too) and the other mums look at me very funny.

And one for those of you still bf-ing. How long do you plan to continue? I am happy to keep going for a while but thinking about when to stop.... Dd has probably 5 milk feeds a day - one first thing, one at morning nap time, one after lunch, one at afternoon nap and one at bedtime (then a bottle of ebm at night when she wakes up) She has a cup with water and sometimes loves it but other days doesn't want any really & will never ask for it (she tells me when she is hungry or wants "boo boo" now!)

HM - hardly ever come down that way but would love to meet in London sometime soon. Not this week as it is dd's birthday mad week but let me know when else suits you. Flick too and anyone else who fancies a London trip?

Best be off - dd's asleep and I need to do a million things before she wakes up.

MM

Morning, news of my job hunt, have to write a CV, but not done one for 10years eek!

But went on a course last night and the practice I want to work at was there. So I introduced myself/reminded the principle who I was, quite daring for me! And got some insider info from the associate dentist who's leaving. There was one job advertised there but it went to someone proactive sending out his CV months ago. I had been thinking it is the way to get the job I want, but writing the CV has been holding me back/stopping me from getting off my arse. Anyway off for coffee this afternoon with the girl that's leaving, and she's going to let me look at the other dentist's CV. I'm ready for some bashing of confidence as she said he sounds like a right spod. But hopefully by the end of today I will be able to put a CV in the post!

In fact I had to miss my 'Take control of your life' course this week (to take DS2 for his ultrasound) and my goal last week was to do a CV. Also going to miss it next week cos we're going away visiting and celebrating the 1st birthday with the in laws.

Ultrasound yesterday was quite positive, DR thought balls are just a bit high, I think she said at the edge of ok. So fingers crossed no GA, just got to wait for ref back to paeds now....

LM any news on poor LD and his ball situation?

Rain not too bad for us at the mo, hope you're all staying dry!

Quote from Billy Connelly in my course notes 'there's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothes', made me smile at 6am this morning whilst DS2 latched on. I think I'm looking forward to stopping next weeks

fuzzypeach · 14/05/2009 18:17

Good luck with the CV Niknak - its always something I dread having to update mine - plus I always end up doing DH's as well as he is not very good at stuff like that (well Im not either, but still a bit better than him!) Glad to hear the ultrasound went well x

Mitchell81 · 14/05/2009 20:17

Niknak Good luck with your CV and job hunting. Glad to hear you had positive news at DS scan.

MM DS2 hasn't started throwing things in toilet but DS1 threw my mobile in twice (2 different phones) you would have thought I learn't my lesson the 1st time.

monkeysmama · 14/05/2009 20:58

So this time last year I was in labour & about 3hours away from meeting my darling Stella. Had a lovely day. She's in bed, just about to open a very special bottle of vintage champagne someone bought us when dd was born & we've saved and waiting from our Japanese meal to arrive. Feeling very odd! Dp loved his presents-a photo book of our first year & a massive collage to go with it!

I'm gonna go enjoy the champagne & remembering last year & the brilliant first year with dd.

Mm

fuzzypeach · 14/05/2009 21:00

Aw, enjoy MM I know what you mean aout feeling odd, I was the same! Hope she has a lovely birthday tomorrow! x

Haribosmummy · 15/05/2009 10:42

Niknak - GOod luck with the CV writing. I had mine professionally done in 2004 (was a T&C when I left the company I was working for) so i you want a gander at it, just shout.

MM - Hope you really enjoy Stella's birthday (and that bottle of vintage champage!!! Am !)

I'm feeling seriously grim today... think I have a little tumy bug and am also feeling super stressed - I've had my parents here all week and they just drive me mad... My mum just seems to spend her day trying to press buttons (she spends most of her time trying to get me to leave Harry with her, but when I do, she just tells him off, tells him to shut up and fusses over the bloody dog.. I mean, I love my dog too... But he is their only grandchild. They left today and didn't even leave him a birthday card!!! )

Harry and I were supposed to be going to have our photos taken tomorrow, but I've just postponed it, because Harry has a cold and I am feeling grim and that's NOT how I want to remember his first birthday.

ah, well, best go - my house is a disaster zone and Harry is requiring attention!!

HM x

Haribosmummy · 15/05/2009 11:21

Harry's photobook has just arrived!! It's just GORGEOUS!!! It's from Photobox and wasn't expensive at all... The quality is superb and I'm really pleased with it.

I know, at this point, it's more for me than for him.. .but one day I hope he'll be able to look back on it and look at all the cool and fun things we did together.

fuzzypeach · 15/05/2009 13:19

glad you are pleased with your photobook - I had one done for my Grandad's birthday last week of "his girls" photos from when he first met my gran to me being little, and then DD1 and DD2 being born etc. I got it from bootsphoto.com and I was so pleased with it, but not as pleased as my Grandad, he absolutely loved it!!

Im off work sick with a throat & ear infection, and Dd2 has got a viral infection and really bad eczema at the moment, so we are a sorry pair!

Niknak21 · 15/05/2009 19:59

Sorry to hear about yout illnesses FP and HM. I had a total non sleep last night. I was doing my CV at 3am!

CV done. Hooray! I did a quite basic one, with a waffly please give me the job covering letter. The DSs and I struggled down to the practice in the hope that I could give it to the principle dentist. The receptionist did wind me up, she kept saying she would put it on the practice manger's desk for her to look at when she gets back from holiday next week. The envelope had FAO the DENTIST, not his practice manager! The covering letter was written with him in mind reading it 1st. I have never met the practice manager...and I did specifically ask if he was in the practice so I could 'put it in his hand'. And she still said she would put it on the practice manager's desk. I hate it when people won't do what you specifically ask them to do. Must admit my people tolerance in general is v poor when this sleep deprived .

The other good news is DH doesn't have to go to work until a week on Monday. There are some benefits to being your own boss, you choose your annual leave and noone can say you can't have it.

Can't believe this time next week I'll be saying DS1's age in years not months . Happy birthday to Haribo for tomorrow, and think HM you'll have another 1st birthday to celebrate next year, not many of us can look forward to that!

fuzzypeach · 18/05/2009 20:59

Where is everyone? You must all be busy celebrating birthdays! Happy birthday to all the babies who are celebrating this week!

We are still having sleep problems here - DD2 is just refusing to go to sleep until about 10pm each night, so I am spending 3 hours in her room tryin to get her to sleep as she screams the house down if I leave the room and gets so upset, i dont know what to do! And I feel like I am neglecting DD1 when DH is working nights and she has to wait for me to put her to bed

Haribosmummy · 19/05/2009 13:00

FP - I'm here!!! Just not got anything to say!!!

Harry used to stay up very late when he was a bit younger, but I find the more we do during the day (and limiting nap times) means he's ready for bed by 7pm and often asleep before 8 - but 8:30 at the latest.

Alternatively (though I have to say, I would struggle to do this!) you could let her cry while you are putting DD1 to bed.

Harry is also a bit of a bugger for wanting me to stay in the room until he's asleep and my mum tried to 'cry' it out of him - he kept wailing for 45 mintues at which point I couldn't stand it anymore and cuddled him till he fell asleep... I hate the idea of him being upset as he falls asleep. I know that's probably more my issue than his, but I do!

HM x

fuzzypeach · 19/05/2009 17:42

Yeah I have just left her to cry while I put L to bed, and also ended up bringing her in to hold while I do DD1's story etc but I feel bad about doing that, and also leaving her to cry! We had our last parenting class today and i spoke to the HV about the sleep probs at the end of the session and she said she runs a sleep clinic and suggested that I "potter" around the room as she thought it was to do with seperation anxiety, and keep popping out the room and saying "im just doing this..." and going back quickly the first time then leave it longer each time so she realises Im not going forever. Going to try that tonight and also put her to bed later and see what happens!!
Did DS have a nice birthday? x

Haribosmummy · 19/05/2009 20:28

Mitchell - DS is having his 1 year immunisations tomorrow too!!

Mitchell81 · 19/05/2009 20:33

thefortbuilder · 19/05/2009 21:30

hey everyone - HM I am waiting for your size booties to come back into stock at the moment.

email me with order from your friend - what wouldn't work on the website???

how is everyone else? 1st birthday here is a distant memory! We are working on ds1's 3rd birthday party.

not much else to say here except i have some small tomatoes starting to grow on my tomato plants so very happy about that!

shonnomanom · 19/05/2009 23:35

Hi
We'r still waiting on birthday time here (30th), really need to start gettin organised for it.

DD is now freely walking , we took her to Clarks last week to get her shoes, we held off gettin her shoes until we felt she was ready to walk outdoors. I am loving walking outside with her, she keeps stopping to touch flowers and pick up stones oh and to shout 'hey' every few steps Its amazing to watch her explore this whole new world that was always around her but looks totally different when your not being carried or in the pram iykwim

Hope everyone is well and enjoying birthday season
Sho x

thefortbuilder · 21/05/2009 18:20

so it's been a progress day today!

we have another tooth (after weeks of trying to get it through!)
sam can now do the stairs in about a minute, quietly so no one knows what he's up to
and he stood on his own for a couple of seconds this morning - accidentally of course!

Haribosmummy · 23/05/2009 09:06

Hi all!

Hope you are all enjoying the long weekend and the sunshine!!

No news here.. DS is being a little poppet and I'm looking larger and larger by the day!

Hope everyone is well.

HM x

macaco · 23/05/2009 10:47

Hi everyone,

Glad to hear you're well HM, not long to go now. have you thought of any names yet?

We're off to a first communion today so once DS sleepy head wakes from his nap we'll be off. It's first communion season here in Spain, we've got another one in 2 weeks!

Must run, hope everyone is well.

monkeysmama · 23/05/2009 21:27

Hi girls

When I started writing this I was sat in the fading sun on the balcony outside our gym waiting for dp to come out with dd but have since come home, put dd to bed & am now waiting for my sashimi to arrive! We've been having our bathroom done since Sunday-I would not advise having major building work start the day after a birthday party for almost 60 adults & kids. It was also the first time I've had a proper drink & I was a bit....um..sick Oh-food's here. More later. MM x

Haribosmummy · 24/05/2009 08:02

MM GLad you had a good time anyway!!!!

Hope everyone enjoys the sunshine today. DS and I are just off to walk Ddog

fuzzypeach · 24/05/2009 23:22
