cyteen · 08/05/2009 14:54

It's all go on the thread of late. dizzy I gather you've lost your uncle Many condolences. If it's any (tiny small) consolation, the hummingbird cupcakes I made for friend's wedding turned out perfect and the cream cheese frosting was so good I ended up eating the leftovers out of the box with my fingers

Still no internets till next week, bah, which means I am sitting in a Cafe Nero's having paid for the privilege of webbing. Went to somewhere it was free only to be told their hub was out of action I have been pushing the Sleepless Boy around town all day, and spending money in the process, trying to find a window of opportunity to use the internet while he's akip. Oh well.

Steaknife · 08/05/2009 14:55

Afternoon all, I am at the PILs mning working while they watch DD. Tis a bank holiday here so I assumed DH could watch her, but he said he needed a break

However not too bad here as I have just been presented with chocolate cake and cream. and DDs great aunty just got back from Brazil so she is now the proud owner of some teeny tiny Havianas. Too too cute.

Very productive morning as I cut up the ring sling I had made and that Izzy hates and made a mai tei - yay, and sorry Miamla for not helping build your empire but tis make do and mend chez steaky at the mo.

Steaky LOL at dismantling a rabbit! I have never had rabbit before, always fancied trying it. But DD was horrified at me gutting a fish last week so I'd have to get it pre-chopped etc.

Re 9m sleep issues, Kurt's been quite grizzly and not sleeping so much the last few days. Food seems to help though, deffo needs a whole 7m jar or equivalent for each meal, maybe it's a growth spurt? Anyone else with a huge 9m baby finding the same?

Oops that's interesting being hyper instead of hypo!

Re Bristol meetup, is a restaurant that good an idea? Only aren't we all going to be fighting over highchairs and the babies will be crawling everywhere! Ikea would be good with baby play area but that week is whitsun so it will be chocka.

cyteen · 08/05/2009 15:15

I got a rabbit from the market pre-butchered but still had to get its heart and kidneys out Quite a sweet-tasting meat, very nice and free range of course but lots of bones.

My right boob is leaking Perhaps choosing a window seat at Nero's wasn't such a good idea.

AnnVan · 08/05/2009 15:55

Hello everyone!!!!
Gosh it's ages since I've been on here. Am still computerless sitting in a little internet cafe. Not much to report though.
I'm jobhunting now, and my notice is in with my current employers. I HAVE to learn to drive now. All the good jobs round here require a car to get there.
DP's having some health bother at the mo, he's got high blood pressure and it's making him a bit unwell. I really need to be earning to take some of the money pressure off him. On the positive side though, he's quit smoking now, and hasn't smoked in 4 weeks! He just stopped dead after 9 years smoking.
little man is as lovely as ever. Getting ever more mobile now. He doesn't crawl, but he goes into a kind of pushup position then pulls himself forwards with his arms.
Hope everyone is ok. There's too much for me to even try to catch up!

TwilightSurfer · 08/05/2009 19:14

Ann it's nice to hear from you. Wishing you the best with the job hunt.

Sazzles have fun!!!

Folks Reese is dancing in the kitchen. DD1 is singing and Reese is shaking her booty to the tune. LOL!

to all

hotterpotter · 08/05/2009 19:16

Eh up Ann good to see you! Sorry to hear about your DP hope you can find a better job to take the pressure off him. One where you can MN at work...

Looking forward to your being properly online next week Cyteen, then No1 and I can persuade you and CC to a northener meetup to take away the pain of all this Bristol talk

Buckets DS is 9m today, and still eating like a pig

Steaky to your blase knocking up of a mei tai. Have been making one for a week now, have broken my sewing machine, run out of matching thread, finally finished it today and it's too fecking short, grrr. Stupid bigmama instructions.

Sazzles hope you have a fab time

Miamla hope you've napped today

ALBS hope DS has stopped biting and your nip is getting a chance to heal

hotterpotter · 08/05/2009 19:18

Hey TS

Steaknife · 08/05/2009 19:58

HP there was a fair bit of unpicking on my effort and I started with the largest size that I read about - 22.5 inches by 25 inches and chopped it down a bit.
I think it ended up being 18 by 16 inches - I measured Izzy when she was in her baby bjorn on DH.

It seems abit wide at the bottom but maybe that is cos we are used to the bb where her legs just dangle down rather than sitting astride me.

But for all your trials you are getting a new sewing machine. Mine is 19 years old, it was the choice between driving lessons of a machine for my 17th.
I failed my test twice when I finally learnt to drive and in total it cost me about 2k rekon I might have broken even on my clothes savings over nearly 20 years.

Wotcha Annvann nice to see you and you TS

How's everyone feeling this Friday evening - nice plans of le weekend?

Steaknife · 08/05/2009 20:51

What's up NO1?

OP posts:
no1putsbabyinthecorner · 08/05/2009 21:03

I dont believe it I just wrote a huge post and bloody lost it aaghhhh.
Probably best as I rambled on a bit.
sibh thankyou you had me welling up again.
In short this time then its probably been brewing all week. Dh has been on nights every night, including overtime tonight.
ds has cried and cried all week,, I have not been able to put him down for a second or even leave the room without him sobbing. DD is still lashing out at him and I am finding it so hard and draining telling her off and making her say sorry almost all day every day.

All this combined with being in the house trying to keep quiet while dh sleeps.
I normally go out so he can sleep, but we decided it was unfair and he would wear his earplugs. Monday was rough as dh came downstairs to see what was going on.(ds constantly crying and dd is just loud in general) So dh shattered this week. so am i
I tried to get both dcs in bed today as they were so tired,as both of them up most of last night.I was flitting from room to room trying to keep them quiet as dh was in next room.
This made it worse as ds was that overtired he didnt want holiding so leaving him to cry a little sometimes works. dd took nappy off and smeared shit all over her bed(accidently)
then dh got up to see why ds was screaming.
I lost it and went out with the dog and left him to it.
I must have looked a loon walking round field sobbing.

Came back to dd and ds happily playing and watching tv but soon as ds saw me he started wailing again.
Sorry for that it wasnt any shorter than the one I lost was it
I know I am not the only tired one on this thread so I am so sorry for going on.
Am also utterly exhausted telling dd off all the time for hitting out at ds, so draining and frustrating. I have to get her to say sorry nearly everyday all day. I tried naughty step and she hits him and just runs to the step herself.
hardly suprising though as he is always in my arms and she must feel so jealous.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 08/05/2009 21:06

Sorry repeated myself a bit.
I must be premenstrual also.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 08/05/2009 21:08

Also ds refusing all bf and ff, most of this week.
Tongiht he had very small bf but my supply id dwindling so he got frustrated at the none existant slow letdown. So did him a botttle of formula and he had 6oz,then half hour later had another 2oz. then just been up to hom and he has refused bf and had another 3oz.

Steaknife · 08/05/2009 21:19

No1 sounds like your day would try the patience of a saint. No wonder you are feeling done in. It sounds like you have your hands full and then the extra worry of having to try to manage noise levels for DH's sleep.

I've no words of wisdom but I do have a nice glass of chilled white wine I can slosh over to you.

OP posts:
pertelote · 08/05/2009 21:27

Oh No1 that does sound like a horrible week. Does the weekend mean that it is over or are there more days of DH on nights to get through? I can't imagine how stressful it must be trying to keep two kids quiet all day while he sleeps, especially when it's cold and wet. If it's any consolation DD also cries whenever I leave the room at the moment and I know lots of people here have had feeding probs - it's never one thing at a time, is it?! Hope you have a lovely sleep-filled night tonight and better days from here on.

Ann lovely to see you! Good luck with the job hunt.

ALBS ouch ouch. I have a bitey girl here so know that sore feeling well...

Miamla · 08/05/2009 21:35

no1 you poor thing. i have no words of wisdom but just wanted you to know that there's someone else here listening

Miamla · 08/05/2009 21:38

no1 would it help if you knew I'd been doing some sewing today?
