Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
EllieG · 27/03/2009 11:28

VS - that's sad, I'm sorry. How's your DP holding up?

Hey everyone - been busy last few days doing nursery induction and being miserable

Is going OK, though she doesn't cry when I leave, when it comes to them giving milk or food she refuses it and goes 'WAAAAAA! WANT MUMMY TO GIVE IT TO ME!!!!' last time I picked her up she had just had a big cry as was hungry but wouldn't take her milk from someone else and she was doing these shuddering sobs that nearly broke my heart..... Came crawling up to me and sat down on my lap and wouldn't let me go anywhere

I know she'll get used to it but is crappy. Am trying to cut out milk in bottle in the day to make things easier, and just have a morning and evening bottle which we can have all cuddled up at home so she gets the mummy snuggly time, but she's not liking the new routine too much.

Will catch up on thread in a mo - I hear her a'hollerin' from her cot.....

EllieG · 27/03/2009 11:40

Right, caught up.

Lovely photos of G's party knitter! He's a proper little lad isn't he? Also - V V cool cake - did you make it?

I am crap with finger foods I hate Mol getting all messy (mostly cos am lazy and hate all the cleaning up) I must do better though or all she will be able to eat is breadsticks at her own party poor wee mite....

Nice dress scorpio

Cows milk - I am just going to give (slightly fat reduced we are advised here, cos Jersey milk is so creamy it's too much for their tummies - the fat reduced version we have here is the same as your rotten english excuse for milk )

Forgot to say - Mol had her 9-12 month check yesterday and she is a giant! They weighed her and she was 24 pounds, which was between the 95-98 centile () and I asked them to measure her to see if in proportion and her height is nearly 80cm which puts her over the 99th centile!

Must be all that good milk I guess! We breed 'em bigger over here obviously.

EllieG · 27/03/2009 11:40

And I am not going to ask where soph is cos nobody asked where I was [sulks]

ScorpiowithabigS · 27/03/2009 12:48

VS - hope you're all ok

Ellie - where were you???

Flats with shoes yes cos i am a giant. And i look like a boy today

Yes as long as they are eating well just milk is fine.

Sal - protein in lots of things, dairy things as well as meat, eggs, beans, tofu, pulses.

Have never given any ofmine extra vits - ahhhh so thats why they have rickets then

DH goes in less than 48 hours now. I am NOT looking forward to being celibate nun, oh no.

Peachy · 27/03/2009 12:56

Oh VS brain not working I missed that at forst

a nd hope you're all coping

SalLikesCoffee · 27/03/2009 19:51

Ah damn VS, so sorry to hear you're having such a sad time.

Thanks for the milk tips, guys. As R's one week off of 12 months, I reconed I'd try cows milk (well, it was half cows, half formula) last night. He vomited it all out.

I'm not sure why, as he's ok on full lactose milk now - has been for about two weeks. And he loves yoghurt, cheese etc.

Peachy, for goats milk - do you use the powdered tins? Just nosy, but wondered.

Scorpio, you make me laugh with your worries about no sex. Where the hell do you get the energy from, is what I want to know!!!

Ellie, hang in there. She's happy, which is the most important thing! Your milk plan sounds good though, then your morning and evening cuddles would be extra special.

I'm knackered, can't tell you how glad I am it's weekend!

SalLikesCoffee · 27/03/2009 22:55

hey, where are everyone?

SalLikesCoffee · 27/03/2009 23:44

Ok then, if you want to be like that, I'm going to bed! [sulks] [remembers normal people sleep now] [misses everybody]

that's my emoticons for the week

ps: where is soph?

Peachy · 28/03/2009 09:04

Sal- not the goats milk in tins; for somereason that'snot approved. Every supermarket sells it in their normal milk section. Well worth a go. It does have lactose but different form of casein so mroe digestible.

You can also buy lactofree milk now- I would suggest if you fancy giving R a trial start off with the Goats (because I like things fiddled about with as little as poss) and if that doesn't owrk trying the lactofree milks, also in supermarkets but not quite so widely available.

Funnily enough there was a Mum at school chatting yesterday (also ahs 4 boys) who said she was worried as her 8.5 month old has eczma, she's just started him on cows milk but didn't know of the link- her oldest is on goats for a different reason, is going to give it a shot (just on cereal etc, BF the rest of the time)

SalLikesCoffee · 28/03/2009 10:26

Thank you, Peachy. Ok, I'll try that. We're due a grocery shop anyway, so will see what I can find. I can vaguely remember seeing some last time we bought milk though, so should be fine.

EllieG · 28/03/2009 11:42

Hey all! Not much going on here so just popping in to say happy morning to everyone

'laters x

SalLikesCoffee · 28/03/2009 12:01

'lo Ellie! Bye, Ellie!

I need to book our summer holiday today, as I have to have something to look forward to - feeling a bit, I don't know, grey at the moment. Don't know where to go though. Have been thinking Lithuania, but not completely convinced and can't decide.

Think it's because I'm still sulking that we can do Peru now (bloody stupid dh's work, urgh), and I was SO excited about that.

EllieG · 28/03/2009 12:08

Have not gone just yet - DH has given me his credit card and am doing a bit of internet shopping (for the baby - but is almost as good as spending money on self!)

Lithuania supposed to be luverly innit? We're going to a cottage in France again - is only an hour and a half away from door to door so is dead easy with the little ones

SalLikesCoffee · 28/03/2009 12:37

Ooh nice, spending on baby almost better than on self though, no guilt as it's not for you!

Lithuania... I annoy myself majorly by this indecisiveness! I think it's supposed to be brilliant, and it's also one of the most affordable European countries, which is always a bonus. Also, the things I like (nature, history, culture) is all covered, so I don't know why I don't just book it. Oh, and you can have a brilliant facial in a decent spa for £20 for heaven's sake!!! at self. I think it's because I (not so) secretly want some excitement in my life,so keep thinking Iran / Syria / Pakistan (enter random close-to-wart-torn-country-as-you-please). For what it's worth, I am aware of the fact that I should grow up.

Cottage in France, and so close - that's brilliant! I've only done that once (Dec), and loved it. Would most definitely do it again (and this is coming from someone that doesn't like going to the same country twice as I want to see the world before I die). Hoping to live till 378 of age, as slipping up a bit on the travelling thing...

You're so lucky with the distance. That's the one thing that was a little difficult in Dec - took us about 7 hours to get there. Still worth it though. Where are you going? Might not even stalk you.

ScorpiowithabigS · 28/03/2009 16:05

Hello everyone

Holiday this year for us will be Malta i think, i fancy it anyway and DH is game.

DH goes tomorrow

Went thai boxing again last night i LOVE LOVE LOVE it and will try to go more when DH is away.

SalLikesCoffee · 28/03/2009 16:51

Hey Scorpio! Have pain following your ache-updates on Fb, hehe. It's so great that you're enjoying this so much. Do you feel better generally lately? Obviously won't be overnight, but I was a little worried about you last time. You're such a brilliant person, I hate thinking you might be feeling down.

You should prob warn dh, he'll come back from his trip and you'll be all muscles-and-kicks hehe.

Have you been to Malta before? A colleague of mine goes every year, and is crazy about it.

ScorpiowithabigS · 28/03/2009 17:05

Miles better lately, yes. More confident, happy, excited about stuff. Fabby . but dont think i'll ever beat DH up, no, not even if i trained day and night

no have never been to Malta, it looks nice, people say its nice.

Me & my friend are going on holiday in June too, we are going to go to the travel agent and see what last minute things they have.

ScorpiowithabigS · 28/03/2009 17:12

ooooooooh there are birthdays today, people

Happy Birthday to Pablo & Matteo

Peachy · 28/03/2009 17:43

at Malta; years ago I used t teach the bistory of St JohN Ambuance, loads of which is Malta based so have always wanted to go there but not managed it.

(Me? With my kids on a plane? are you NUTS? pmsl )

We've got a long weekend rugby trip to Cornwall start of May, End May camping in Pembrokeshire, and camping in the New Forest in the summer hols.

All thankfully things we can afford even if dh loses his job but we shall just cut back on spending there. lucky really, friends lost job last week and have had to cancel everything. Camping makes things afforable.

Have been practising ABs's birthday cake, making him a bunny cake (Wiltons do a 3d bunny tin- not arty me LOL, easy route). Seems easy enough. Spent a bit on making nice party bags too but I enjoy doing those, seeds and old fashined stuff like jumping beans in recycled bags decorated by ds1: tellme, am I turning into a sad old Mn type? Will I be making a wnaky basket next?

SalLikesCoffee · 28/03/2009 18:16

Peachy, every time I read camping reviews or see some lovely isolated places, I think of you! In my heart I'd like to take a tent and sleep in the middle of nowhere, but dh laughs hysterically every time I say we should do it. He thinks I'm too much of a whoos (and secretly I'm not 100% convinced he's wrong ) Still, I'm going to try it this summer - I love the idea of being "outside" when you take one step.

Feel sorry for your friends, it's rubbish having to cancel something. Can't they do something alternative that, except for transport perhaps, doesn't cost much? Maybe use a friend's house when they're on holiday themselves or something? Hope they're ok.

ScorpiowithabigS · 28/03/2009 18:23

I could never ever do camping. Am far too much of a girl.

Peachy yes you will deffo be making wnaky baskets

We are going to Paignton Zoo for Mimi's bday and i am ordering getting a cake for Mimi, a very pink one i expect. 3 Weeks today she is 1!!!!!!

DH is going tomorrow. we are off out for a meal in about an hour. Then not watching telly all night

SalLikesCoffee · 28/03/2009 18:40

Scorpio!!!

ScorpiowithabigS · 28/03/2009 18:44

DH has had his hair done today and looks very sexy

LadyBee · 28/03/2009 19:03

Hi everyone -
gah, my skin is driving me crazy. I've had a sort of redness down the centre of it, sides of mouth and then a patch on my right temple since B was born. It flared up badly when I tried out some No.7 face stuff on the recommendation of a friend, and also when I went to NZ because of flights & stress, and it's bad again now. I'm so sick of it. I'm thinking of stopping BFing completely now that we're getting to 1 year, and am hoping that it might make a difference...

sorry to launch straight into that, it just makes me feel so crap sometimes.

Scorpio, enjoy your last night with DH for while

VS, very sorry to hear about the loss of DP's grandad. Has the funeral been held?

v. of all this talk of holidays, I'm desperate to go away for a weekend but know we have to not so we can do big long trip later in the year...I know not everyone can go away at all, and shouldn't be complaining I just get a hankering for a change of scene every 3 months or so and it's upon me now.

as is baby hunger. OMG I am broody. It's just constantly there a quiet little voice saying, '...and I want a(nother) baby..' in my head. It's ridiculous. I need something else to concentrate on ..oh..hang on...like a wedding maybe

Peachy · 28/03/2009 19:26

Sal i'm a wuss too but iyts worth it- book up though, as camping is trendy all sites book early now. For a first timer so cheap you can run home if you hate it, try the forest holiday sites.
