Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
KnitterInTheNW · 18/05/2009 09:34

Hooray for (some) sleep! It's such a shame that your DH doesn't share what you think of CC Ellie, at least then you could have the odd night off and catch up. Or does he anyway? I'm guessing he must sometimes at least, if you're leaving him to it at the end of August! I can book my train tickets in a couple of weeks, it's definately going to be Sat 22nd isn't it?

G woke twice last night for his dummy, and DH actually went and did one of those! Miracles DO happen occasionally...

Little man woke just before 7 and was all shaky, which I put down to not having eaten much at all yesterday. I got a cereal box out and he just burst into tears, he couldn't wait for me to open it so he had a fruit pouch which didn't even touch the sides and half a chopped up banana before he'd even let me pour cereal into a bowl! At least he stopped shaking after he'd eaten. He was awake for just over an hour before he couldn't cope any more and went back to bed just after 8!

ScorpiowithabigS · 18/05/2009 09:58

for all your poorly babies. DH has awful man flu, you know

EllieG · 18/05/2009 10:36

Oh bless him, glad little G is on the mend. Mol still not eating - wouldn't touch her breakfast. She is drinking plenty though so am not worried. It has taken a few days for my appetite to come back too, so can't blame her for not being hungry.

Poor scorpio's DH and his man flu. Amazing how is much, much worse when they get it isn't it?

Soph73 · 18/05/2009 12:03

Morning all.

Sorry to hear about all your sicky babies - hope they all get better soon. Scorpio - god there's nothing worse than a man with man-flu, don't envy you there. Hope he gets better really soon.

Met Denny and her brood on Saturday. It was really nice to meet a real-life MNer We had lunch and then gate-crashed their hotel so DS1 could use the pool DS1 finally relented and spoke to her eldest daughter ... he's not big on girls (long may that last!!) but was OK once he realised he could go swimming LOL.

KnitterInTheNW · 18/05/2009 13:52

Lol Soph! Am surprised that Denny's DD1 let him get a word in edgeways anyway! It's great to actually meet who you've been chatting to, isn't it?

Soph73 · 18/05/2009 14:00

LOL Knitter - yes, she is rather chatty isn't she

Have just had a phone call from the Nursery to say Sam's got a fever (38.2) and is crying. Apparently he's eaten his yoghurt, hasn't puked or anything. So I've asked them to take his clothes off as it gets really hot in the baby room. Also he's teething & it's lunchtime and he probably wants a sleep. I appreciate that they have to call as soon as anything is untoward, but they do seem to overreact. Fingers crossed though it is just teeth & tiredness!

KnitterInTheNW · 18/05/2009 14:13

Poor Sam too! Goodness, what is it with them all at the moment? Bet your insticts are right and he just needs a sleep. G gets v upset and grumpy if he's too hot, even without a temp.

Soph73 · 18/05/2009 14:38

I hope so Knitter. I know that Sam's going to get more illnesses than other babies but I still want to scream "this is so unfair, leave him alone." Hey ho

EllieG · 18/05/2009 15:06

Poor Sam, hope he's OK. But it's not too high is it, so hopefully if they strip him off and let him have a nap he'll be fine.

VictorianSqualor · 18/05/2009 15:48

Soph, we have to call a parent if the child has a temperature, purely because of the risk of febrile fits(not sure what it's like at Sam's nursery) but will normally say to a parent whose child is otherwise well that they have a temperature and do they mind if we give calpol, which is normally enough to see them through til mum or dad finish work.

So although it may be annoying they're probably forced to do it by the powers that be iyswim and making no judgement on it themselves at all.

However, I got a phone call today from the school on the number clearly marked 'for emergencies - mum's work' to tell me that Bobby's invoice will be in his book bag this afternoon...

Soph73 · 18/05/2009 16:00

Ellie - well, I haven't heard from them so he must have had his lunch and fallen asleep. Like I say they are prone to panic here and as soon as babies temperature jumps by a couple of points it's automatically a fever They don't seem to take into account that he isn't a Spanish baby so does actually get hot when the weather warms up

Soph73 · 18/05/2009 16:03

X-post VS. Yes, I can understand that, we do the same with the children here. But, you know what it's like, you go into panic mode as soon as the phone goes ... well, you're probably more level-headed than I am LOL at invoice in book bag

VictorianSqualor · 18/05/2009 16:26

level-headed? moi?
Hahaha, no. I was all a quiver when I got the call earlier

OP posts:
Soph73 · 18/05/2009 16:38

Oh good, at least it's not me then I get myself into such a state that any Spanish I do know completely leaves my baby-addled brain and I have to ask the school secretary to speak to them for me .... useless me

VictorianSqualor · 18/05/2009 17:08

Lol, I stand there happily in front of anyone from work and call parents all calm and collected telling them their child has a temp or is poorly etc then I get a call about invoices and hide away in the sleep room to take it alone

ScorpiowithabigS · 18/05/2009 18:37

Do any of oyu have a Stokke mini-cot kit you would sell me? Beech? Can't find one to buy alone anywhere and i'm not having 2 cots. Hoping Mimi will have a toddler bed before Xmas, at say 18 months and i could use mini-cot for Dexter dc4.

KnitterInTheNW · 18/05/2009 19:06
