Soph73 · 13/05/2009 16:22

Hi Peachy, nice to see you

Peachy · 13/05/2009 16:23
SalLikesCoffee · 13/05/2009 19:57

Ellie, hope you're all right. Whatever happens, it's for the child's best, just keep remembering that. I can't imagine how hard it must be on you though.

I'm tired, even though I left the office on time for a change.

Roelof had his MMR today. So far, so good - dh took him, and apparently he didn't even cry after the first, but thought enough is enough after the second! Was distracted again a couple of minutes later apparently, so I think he's fine. Poor little thing, I felt so sorry for him with the two little plasters on his arms when we played in the bath earlier.

Peachy · 14/05/2009 08:43

Aw poor Roelof!

havent taken bas to HV for ages as I know of a child whose Nurse accidentally (!!!) gave him the MMR during a check up when he asnt supposed to have it, I'm officially in hiding LOL

Am pee'd off with MN today; 2 of my MN friends, Amber and Twinset have been pushed into leaving from nastiness, load of crap.

anyway

got to find some voluntary work for September, need some up to date stuff for my SW application. have got old CM booked for two sessions next academic year and full time for bas after school for Harry (she used to have ds3 so can care well for him, has an ASD child herself)- now just nee to get on the course.

Did consider setting up a carers support froup in this village but could only do for a year, is that OK if I make that clear or mean do you think? Otherwise looking at aprenting support with addicts or advice with asylum seekers...... anything for a reference (my homestart branch went under complerely last month so no reference from them as they are not in existence)

Soph73 · 14/05/2009 09:22

Morning all.

Sal - Sam's got his in July along with another injection which is extra and was recommended by the docs at the hospital after he had his pneumonia. Hope R's still OK. DS1 never suffered when he has his, but I know what you mean about feeling sorry for them when you see their little plasters.

Peachy - I'd seen that Amber had left. Had only just started reading her posts but was very that she felt she had to leave. Her posts were always so helpful and insightful. Good luck with getting on your course. Can't advise about the other stuff I'm afraid.

Soph73 · 14/05/2009 12:09

Chips soon. I'm sooooo hungry today!

Peachy · 14/05/2009 13:12

OOh chips

we ahd super noodles

DH was I was

Soph73 · 14/05/2009 13:35

Well they were scrummy ..... we've got some super noodles at home I think I love 'em

EllieG · 15/05/2009 16:06

Hey all - is quiet here today innit?

Was horrid removing baby, am so much more emotional about this stuff than before had Molly, but more insightful I think, being a parent has defo made me better at job all in all, it sharpens up your instincts. I got to this woman's house and she was black and blue and beaten and drugged up and the poor wee man had been awake all night in his cot listening to scumbag man hitting her...and he came away with no fuss, no attachment to her at all. God, was so bloody sad. But right.

Peachy - you sure you want to do social work? Good idea about work experience though - I went to work with asylum seekers in Cardiff for a bit actually and was v interesting - awful, dreadful system, people denied basic human rights IMO - really shocked me. Attitudes of some people working with them also terrible.

Hey sal! Long time no see? And hey soph and scorpio too

OMaLittle · 15/05/2009 18:19

Hey, no time to catch up except one page so

YAY Scorpio!!

Boo Ellie but well done for doing the right thing.

I have a walker! No PFB here, was hanging out washing when I heard DD1 say 'Evie is WALKING!' and indeed she was! (amazing, not much of what DD1 says is true these days, very imaginative child ).

Off on our travels in 2 weeks. EEEEEK!

KnitterInTheNW · 16/05/2009 08:42

Hi Peachy, Soph, Sal, Ellie, OMa.

How horrid Ellie, I really feel for you. I did a night nanny job while I was in London, for a lovely couple who were temporarily looking after their tiny grandaughter. Their daughter and partner were both cocaine addicts, and the baby was born addicted. So after having to be weaned off the drugs at 6 weeks prem she was taken home by the parents. Turns out they were either forgetting to feed her or not feeding her enough () so the grandparents said they'd have her for a certain amount of time while they sorted themselves out. They didn't. The grandparents already had the baby's half brother (same mum) permanently, and they didn't feel that they could do the same for the little girl, who ended up being adopted. It was heartbreaking, but really best all round for the little girl. So, so sad though.

We've had a fairly uneventful few days. Left a pile of flyers with Tumble Tots and Caterpillar music teachers to hand out. Asked at the local soft play/pottery painting place if I can put one up there, they said yes so I'll drop one off next week.

Been making mini muffins this week too. First attempt was blueberry ones. ended up with 48 mini muffin cases with exploded blueberries in the bottom with a perfectlittle dome of cake on top of each one . Last night's attempt was banana choc ones. Look loads better! Have ordered a big muffin tray, next attempt is going to be breakfast muffins to practise for future possible early morning train journeys to London (). Am fairly sure that G will eat 'cake' even with too many exciting things going on, and they're full of oats and fruit and wholemeal flour, so quite healthy as far as muffins go!

G and I are off to have lunch at pizza express later with some of the other NCT mums. I can't stop thinking about garlic doughballs. Yum!

ScorpiowithabigS · 16/05/2009 13:43

Knitter i think i would like breakfast muffin recipe please

I have just come here to boast, really I'm going here with my friend and cannot wait, 2 nights, and a maternity treatment booked! So cannot wait.

VictorianSqualor · 16/05/2009 15:19

Hey everyone.
Just posting to get this back on my threads I'm on, I'm soooooooooooooooooo busy this last week what with working extra hours, doing essays, decorating bedrooms etc etc that I haven't had time to catch up on all the posts, so hi and bye

OP posts:
SalLikesCoffee · 16/05/2009 17:44

Peachy, I'd have been livid (well, I assume you too, hence the hiding! )if R had anything against my will! What a cheek and potentially dangerous!!! I really hope she made an official complaint. Uhm, not that I can speak, I never got around to sending the letter of complaint I promised myself I'll send to the hospital after the paed told R to "shut up".

Don't know if it was your good vibes, Soph, but except for that first night, R doesn't seem to be affected at all by the MMR. I'm still keeping an eye out (apparently can become fevery up to 9 days), but even his cold seems to have gone away!

Ellie, how heart breaking, but well done to you. It's so sad that not all children can experience unconditional love and respect as "defaults" for at least the first couple of years. Such an unfair start in life. I know it's one of these things that I can never say and even feel guilty thinking, but I do sometimes wonder why some people bother having children if they don't really want them. Maybe I just don't understand, and I do realise things aren't always black and white.

Well, nicer things...

Scorpio! Looks amazing, have a brilliant time!!! Wish I were you!

Hello too Knitter, VS and Oma.

Sorry for the long post btw - this is what work forces me to do, I'm all geared up to chat to make up for the week!

Hehehe, you should see Roelof: He's walking around the place, and I gave him a carrot to chew on earlier. He's now covered in what looks like roughly grated carrot - as is the sitting room floor!

KnitterInTheNW · 16/05/2009 17:59

Scorpio, I haven't tried them yet. This is the one I fancy trying though. Am very very very of spa. Might not talk to you again now!

Lol at Roelof covering everything in grated carrot!

I've just been into town (on my own!) to try to get a pair of jeans that actually fit. I'm still in maternity ones with a belt holding them up. I bought a pair from matalan a little while ago but they're too big now. I'm still having to wear them through lack of having anything that fits and looks nice... Nothing fit. Am officially fed up. 20s are way too big, 18s are just that bit too snug no not be obscene. Anyone know of anywhere that makes size 19 jeans?

Did buy a dress though. Sodding thing's a maternity one but it actually fits my huge norks in and covers tummy, doesn't look maternityish I think. Tis a wraparound one so can just make it wrap round a bit more!

SalLikesCoffee · 16/05/2009 18:27

Ah Knitter, I too love the wonders of wrap dresses! Always feels comfortable, looks good... What's not to like?!

Those muffins looks nice, might try it when I'm not this lazy. (Clearly my cooking spree has passed. )

SalLikesCoffee · 16/05/2009 18:30

Ooh, get this: One of the guys in my team got champagne and fancy chocs for his birthday from someone at the office, and apparently doesn't like "posh" stuff. So he gave it to me. Not that I'm posh, mind you, but would never say "no thank you" to chocs or champagne!

KnitterInTheNW · 16/05/2009 19:16

Very nice Sal!

Muffin baking is easy. Normally just mix all the wet stuff together, and all the dry stuff, then mix the two together! No faffing with creaming butter & sugar blah blah blah...

KnitterInTheNW · 17/05/2009 15:17

Ugh... Am shattered. G threw up about a squilion times last night, had to put the washing machine on at 3am because we'd run out of sheets! Threw his brekkie up, and then again in the bath after. Went back to bed for 4 hours. Ate a mini veggie cracker and half a cup of water, threw up again. Has had most of a cup of water since and is back in bed again, poor little love. Really really hope it's just a 24 hour thing! SDH gone out to do the grocery shopping, have asked him to get some dioralyte while he's out.

SalLikesCoffee · 17/05/2009 17:51

Oh nooooooo, Knitter!!! Poor, poor you and G. Any better now or rough night ahead?

R threw up in the car this afternoon (just as we reached Bluewater, sigh). I think it was just too much milk/wind, because he's now fine. The car smells, I'll attempt another cleaning session after my, uhm, dinner: KFC.

KnitterInTheNW · 17/05/2009 19:06

Hi Sal!

He's perked up a bit now, had a couple of marmite ricecakes when we woke him up at 5 and has just had a 7 month plum pot and a bit of banana. No re-show yet! We've had a couple of rancid nappies too. (Hope you read this after you eat your KFC, not during!) He's getting a bit sorry for himself gain now though so PJs are on and back to bed soon I think.

Nothing worse than a milky pukey car is there!

(G suddenly got v tired when I was typing that bit and now he's back in bed again!)

Peachy · 17/05/2009 19:14

Knitter she didnt need to coplain as she was one of the tiny minority whose children suffer a bad reaction to immunicasations and end up severely disabled - not ASD(She's on MN so wont say more).

Poor sick babies. Bas is ill also, another virusey thing to bring him down after last one a fortnight ago (that was a bacterial eye infection). Poor souuls but we also find amrmite rice cakes a big fro sicky babies, always go down well LOL

EllieG · 17/05/2009 21:51

Hey all -

my sympathies peachy and knitter, mine is sicky too this weekend, I had a 24hour bug on thurs, which Molly promptly caught on fri and we had sick all night, then tired cranky baby all weekend. She slept in bed with me in the end on fri as was the only thing that stopped her crying poor mite, whilst DH was banished to the sofa. Once she stopped crying it was actually rather lovely having a good old snuggle up with her in bed just us two (not that would tell DH that). She is so cuddly lately, I don't know if is nursery or her getting older but she keeps rushing up to me for great big cuddles and they make me feel like

Oh dear, she's crying.....no sleep for me tonight....(again)

KnitterInTheNW · 17/05/2009 22:58

Oh no Ellie, not you too!

Have to say, we've done quite well on the sick front, this is the first time G has actually been sick, apart from possets when he was tiny. I'm very grateful for that!

I love having G in bed with me Ellie. Doesn't happen very often, but there's something just snuggling up in bed, definately. I would have brought him in with us last night, but really couldn't face changing all the covers on a double bed if/when he was sick again. He did sleep on me for a while on the chair in his room, it's an ikea poang one so when I'm sat in it I'm reclining quite a lot anyway. Was lovely, even if G did stink!

So far so good tonight, G is still asleep and no more puking episodes.

EllieG · 18/05/2009 09:21

I got a bit of sleep! Hurray! She only woke up at 10 and 3 and then not too much.

Do you think my baby will EVER sleep through? Every time I think she is getting there and sleeping consistently she gets a bug or something and it all goes wrong again. And she's 1 now and I want some sleep!
