Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Soph73 · 07/05/2009 13:28

Was feeling very smug with myself today as I'm wearing my size 14 trousers that I bought 3 years ago and have never been able to wear ...... am now sitting here, after stuffing my face with meatballs and chips with said trousers unbuttoned and unzipped. Please keep your fingers crossed that none of our little buggers fantastic students want me to stand up and get something for them Might put them off coming in here again though, me flashing tomorrow's washing at them

Soph73 · 07/05/2009 13:28

Sorry, stupid computer is acting up again

LadyBee · 07/05/2009 21:16

oh well done Soph.
MHAH, you were asking about losing weight - I've been on a constant battle to lose weight as whenever I've seen a Dr about the PCOS they always say 'lose weight'. The only thing that I've ever used successfully is this website. By logging and tracking what I was eating I was able to be absolutely sure whether I was eating too many calories or not - the fact that it worked was the biggest motivator to stay on it. You log your food and any exercise - it works out the calories you need to eat to either stay the same weight, or lose at a particular rate. It doesn't matter whether you still want to eat chocolate, just so long as you log it, and compensate in some other way. I think that was what worked for me, I never denied myself anything, just knew that I had to eat less for some other meal.
Anyway, I'm back doing it now and have lost weight every week so far.

KnitterInTheNW · 07/05/2009 23:12

Ok, lovely ladies... could you please cast your eyes over this ?

It's not the final version, and not sure how to phrase about the first aid cert. My old one expired in Nvember I've just discovered, and booked onto the next one which is at the end of June. So do I put in it that I'll have a cert by July, or just say that I'm available from July so as not to admit I don't have first aid at the moment?
Also, I forgot to put in that I'd ideally like 3 days a week. How and where should I put that in?

DH has done something clever to it to make it a PDF file and the link should ask you to download it.

So, would you consider employing me if you were handed one of these flyers at a baby music class? I'd like feedback please, good or bad. Thankyou!

(Will go and read posts now...)

KnitterInTheNW · 07/05/2009 23:24

YAY for Mol walking, well done little lady! (and have words with George please, he's much more interested in playing with wheels than trying to walk. And doing impressions too - fish is opening & shutting his mouth noisily. Butterfly is flapping his arms and new one today - crab is sort of one-hand clapping but with both hands at the same time iyswim. Very cute, but he'll only do them for me! Poor DH stands there going 'what does a fish do? What does a crab do?' for ages and G just looks at him blankly. I ask him once and he grins and performs. Little tinker!)

Undone trousers are always a sign of good chips Soph! Did you manage to speak to your friend about her DS at bath time?

VS, poor Panda. Hope the doc can help to shad some light on what it is.

Hi Ruty!

Right, off to bed. Night all.

EllieG · 08/05/2009 09:45

Hey all!

Tried to look at your thing knitter but work 'puter wouldn't let me. I will look at home later.

Hope panda is OK today VS. Meant to ask - is the job still going well?

Hey ruty!

Will catch up properly later is busy busy here, so glad is friday

KnitterInTheNW · 08/05/2009 09:50

I just emailed the document to you, to both the addresses I have for you Ellie. Not sure if you still use both, or even if you can pick them up at work.

ScorpiowithabigS · 08/05/2009 10:09

I really like it Knitter. If i was to employ a Nanny i would want to know she did school pick-ups, for ds1 and ds2 in September. I love the pic of you two!

I am so hungry and am dreaming of chips. Good job we have a chippy 1 minute walk away lunch here i come!

Getting a bit worried though; MS a bit less but then i never get it much anyway and have never actually been sick in any of my pgs. I have sore boobs though and am very tired very easily. Please tell me it will be ok on tuesday. I get so panicky everytime i go to the toilet, thinking 'please no blood please no'. I know after my scan and seeing healthy bean i wont worry anymore. not long.....just so worried, i just want this baby I'm 7+3 today.

MommyHasaHeadache · 08/05/2009 10:59

That's a great ad Knitter. I would hire you if you lived closer. And I would love it that you bought George with you so he and Gigi could play together.

I would add before the line "Interested and want to know more", "I am available from July and for 3 days a week", or something like that. Wouldn't admit to the 1st aid thing - it's not necessary.

Scorpio - sending you some positive vibes. I am sure your little bean is doing just fine in his comfy little home!

Mmmmm chips....

VS - hope Panda is okay today.

We are supposed to be having Gigi's birthday party tomorrow, but she has picked up a virus and the weather is shitty!! Not sure what to do. The dr said as long as her temp is down, she is not infectious, but still, she will be snotty most probably. I don't know - maybe I should cancel and have it next weekend instead.

ScorpiowithabigS · 08/05/2009 13:12

what size is a 27 inch waist?

Have my Isabella Oliver jeans here and they are hanging off me. They are from ebay so can't return them, thought they would fit . Good job i will bulk out later! They are so nice, wish i had some smaller ones could wear them sooner!

MommyHasaHeadache · 08/05/2009 14:31

It's size 8 you skinny little thing!

KnitterInTheNW · 08/05/2009 14:32

According to this it's a size 10. (AKA only 3" bigger than one of my thighs)

Thankyou for nice comments about ad, and I've added in what you suggested, MHAH. I've also changed my rates from being very competitive with a nursery, to being comparable. Is that right?
I think I'd be tempted to have Gigi's party next weekend, for no other reason than if she's poorly she won't enjoy it as much.

Soph73 · 08/05/2009 14:33

Sam tried to crawl at Nursery yesterday - bless him, bummer that I missed it though. What I'm pleased I missed was him getting into his nappy just after he's pooed and smearing all over himself and the toys he was playing with

Knitter - great flyer, wouldn't you like to move here, weather is fab at the moment Spoke to my friend and she can bath him if he's standing up. I think it's just a control thing and the fact that he wants to be off doing something else, cheeky monster

Scorpio - I think that's a size 8, but I could be wrong. Tuesday will be fine sweetie, I'll be thinking of you. I know it's a worrying time for you but just try & relax. Did you get chips from the chippy??

MHaH - aahhh, poor Gigi, hope she feels better soon. I'd probably cancel until next weekend tbh as it won't be very nice for her if she can't enjoy herself.

Where's Denny, I can't remember when she said she's coming over here and I need to know where she's staying! DENNY, WHERE ARE YOU?

KnitterInTheNW · 08/05/2009 15:00

lol at poo incident and HOOORRRAAAYYYYY and well done little man Sam!

I wouldn't last 5 minutes in a country that has sun, I burn in 5 minutes, G and I share a bottle of factor 50. Brilliant to hear that someone would want me, anyway!

If Denny doesn't appear soon, remind me and I'll text her for you. Or would you like me to do it now?

Soph73 · 08/05/2009 15:24

Knitter - I have plenty of factor 50 as that's what the boys use If you could text Denny that would be great, although I don't want her to think I'm some crazed stalker Obviously I'm off in a mo and won't be back till Monday but I don't think she's coming until the 20 something but would love to arrange something with her if I could.

Like I said I'm off in a mo so have great weekends everyone. See you Monday. I'm off to enjoy the sun

Soph xxxx

KnitterInTheNW · 08/05/2009 15:30

Have sent her a message.

Actually I will come and move to near you, and leave knobber DH at home. Idiot left the cot side down again a couple of nights ago. Grrr. Surely that's just a basic safety thing?

VictorianSqualor · 08/05/2009 16:11

Knitter, I would include something about continuous one-to-one care between you and the child, purely because it's one of the things I see helps the children where I work, and something that is not always possible.

Have you had a look at the prices of nurseries near by so you know the difference between that and what you'd charge, only speaking for my nursery but I know we are more expensive than Cheltenham Ladies College (around £30-35k per year to put a child in with us full-time)

Apart from that, looks good, I'll try and have a think about what I don't like about the care we provide that you wouldn't do but I think that's the main issues.

Yes, Ellie, still enjoying the job, hating at least half the neglectful uncaring rude ignorant parents but love the children.

Well, panda.... His childminder and one of her charges are both ill today with a sickness bug, yet the Doc told me yesterday eh thinks it's reflux with a food intolerance of some kind, so goodness knows. Here I am putting him on a wheat free diet in the hope he'll stop being sick, but if it's just a residual bug then he's gonna stop anyway, and I'll be convinced it was the wheat...

OP posts:
KnitterInTheNW · 08/05/2009 18:28

=======================]]]=]]=Nurseries are between £32 and £38 a day (the friend who helped me make the ad's DS goes to a nursery so she looked around quite a few fairly recently, and that's where I got those prices from). I'm hoping to be asking for £42 per day, that's £40 for me and the rest would be the employers tax and NI. Worked that out on nannytax tax calculator.

Blimey at very expesive nursery!

KnitterInTheNW · 08/05/2009 18:30

hehe, G found his way to the laptop just as I pressed post message. The first bit is from him!

VictorianSqualor · 08/05/2009 18:50

£2 and £38 per day
I called a couple before I found Panda's childminder and they ranged from £65-£84!

OP posts:
KnitterInTheNW · 08/05/2009 18:59

everything's that bit cheaper oop north!

SuzeMcG · 08/05/2009 19:47

Hi to you all, I thought I'd pop in again.

Scorpio, congratulations and I am sure all will be fine.

Happy birthday to Gigi and hope she recovers for her party.

Knitter, I had a look at your flyer, I wish you lived near me!

VS, glad you are enjoying your new job. I can't believe the cost of the nursery.I have Emilia down to start at a nursery nearby as I may be going back to work soon. I am interviewing at the same company I contracted at before E was born. It is £51 per day, which apparently is a good deal around here (SW London).

I am nervous about putting E into nursery but I am sure she will love it. I have to get the job first, of course! Has your little lady settled into nursery now, Ellie?

Well done to Sam on the crawling. E has only been crawling properly the last month or so. She is delighted with herself!

Have a good weekend, all.

Denny185 · 08/05/2009 21:47

Knitter, thanks for the text, great add BTW, I wouldnt admit to the lack of certificate just say available from July. Meet up in June sounds great will try and look at at calender over the weekend, been busy getting holiday clothes ready. Speaking of which...

Soph you crazy stalker woman we fly over on Wednesday, yeah. We are staying in a little resort called Bahia Feliz, do you know it, is it anywhere near you? Did you fancy meeting next weekend? Email me on corinna dot dennison at hotmail dot co dot uk and we can swop phone numbers.

V busy at work this week trying to tie up loose ends and get all paper work done and then been coming home and washing ironing all holiday stuff. Have to go into town tomorrow and get last bits and currency. Shall be glad when we get in the taxi to go.

The bathing thing - Ethan did that at about 18 months, didnt bath him at all for a week then washed him standing in the kitchen sink until he started sitting down again then got in bath with him for a while. Took a couple of months but did pass.

VS - hope panda feeling better soon.

SalLikesCoffee · 08/05/2009 21:54

Hey all.

Knitter, love your flier. It's great - if I were close to you and looking, I'd beg bribe ask you very nicely to take Roelof!

On rates - nurseries around here are so full, and incredibly expensive. Ours cost £65 per day (R goes one day a week, with the others with his nanny here). We were on the waiting list for a year, and could only get one day! It worked out for the best, as he loves his nanny, but I did worry when I still planned to do nursery only. It's crazy. I think one of the nurseries near Canary Wharf charges £80 per day!

MHAH, poor Gigi. How is she feeling now? I think tomorrow's supposed to be a little better, but guess if she doesn't feel well she won't enjoy it as much.

And Panda, VS? You take this a lot better than I would, I tend to panic if he's ill for so long sometimes!

Hmm, news here... Well, Roelof discovered walking, and is laughing is dimply little bum off every time he does so, as we're so excited about it! It's very funny.

If the weather's good tomorrow, we might go to France. If not, probably just around the flat most of the time.

Denny185 · 08/05/2009 22:02

Evening Sal.

If the weathers good we might go to France??
