Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MommyHasaHeadache · 05/05/2009 22:06

Hi all! Well I can't beelive the day is finally here - my little lady is one today! We have had a lovely day - pressie opening this morning and much fun had playing with all her new toys! She loves her trike - her little eyes lit up when she saw it and wanted on straight away! We went to the Aquarium this afternoon, which was a hit - she loved looking at all the fish! I'm knackered now! I've just baked some mini cupcakes to take to creche tomorrow - hope the babies like them!

What else? Oh yes, Gigi started walking (with the help of her push along walker) last week and is cruising the furniture now! It's all happening! Still only has fangs - I'm wondering when the next teeth will pop out as it's been a month now since the first 2 appeared!

So are you all giving your babies cow's milk now? Are any of you still on formula, and if so, have you moved to the 1 year one? As Gigi's eating hasn't been great lately, we have decided to keep her on formula for now, so at least we know she is getting all her vits.

Well done to all of you that have lost weight. I am a lost cause. I need help. What are you all doing to lose that unwated weight? I have to, have to, have to give up choc. That is my biggest downfall. I don't really eat big meals, but have put on too much weight for my liking. It has to be the choc. SIGH.

SalLikesCoffee · 05/05/2009 22:30

Oh, I've got no advice re weight loss - mine's going the wrong way. I'm fatter now (well, except for the actual bump itself) than I was 8 months pregnant. I'm considering getting pregnant just to lose some weight.

Sounds like Gigi had a lovely day! I want to see some pics, please.

Peachy · 06/05/2009 08:45

Happy Birthday (belated) Gigi

Soph73 · 06/05/2009 12:24

Happy Belated Birthday Gigi. Sounds like she had a great time. Sam is on part cows milk, part formula but that's mainly because I've still got half a can left of the formula. He only has one bottle now just before he goes to bed.

Sam has learnt to clap He thinks it's absolutely hysterical. 9 times out of 10 he actually misses his hands but we all shout hooray and he just can't stop laughing

KnitterInTheNW · 06/05/2009 12:56

Bless Sam and his clapping, I can picture it now and it's making me smile!

G just has cows milk, has done since he finished bf. I tried him with formula at the time but he refused that too, so didn't think it was worth persevering(sp?) seeing as he was only 3 weeks off being 1 anyway. Still won't drink any (had a few sips this morning when I whizzed some with 1/2 a banana but that's it.)

Soph73 · 06/05/2009 13:25

Knitter

Does anyone have any helpful hints about my friend's screaming 11mnth old during bath time? Haven't spoken to her today to see how it went last night, will try and ask tomorrow.

KnitterInTheNW · 06/05/2009 13:30

Umm, has she tried getting in with him/her? (sorry, I remember you asking but forgot to answer and forgot if a DS or DD!)

Or just not bathing him for a few days, instead doing some naked play with a box of water and some toys that he can play with? Umm, paddling pool? (Don't know how helpful that one is, sorry!)

KnitterInTheNW · 06/05/2009 13:33

Oh no, am torturing myself... We had a load of bananas about to go mushy (we buy asda smartprice ones, a massive bunch for I think £1.09 which is great, but they all go over at the same time!) so I've got banana bread in the oven and it smells DIVINE. I'm going to have to have a wodge (no slices for me, no siree Bob) when it's cooked. Few more minutes... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Soph73 · 06/05/2009 14:28

Knitter - sounds scrummy

Yep, my friend's tried everything. I think she was going to go with not bathing him for a couple of nights. Will suggest the play with water thingy

Peachy · 06/05/2009 18:55

Ah the bath thing, Bas did that. What a pain that was.

Didn't ayth him at all for a week (washed him obviously LOL), and then ran him really shallow- inch maybe two- for a bit afterwards so it bacame like a playtime but no bath panic; gradually got back to normal over I guess a month. Now jhe's totally fine again

EllieG · 06/05/2009 20:26

Hey peachy! Glad all OK with you and yours and DH not feeling too down about job. Molly spits out lumps from time to time, I think she's just a fussy little bugger. Nursery is really helping with her food fussiness though - they don't have the patience I do, and if she won't eat she doesn't get the options - it's really helped.

Yey for Sam my future SIL! Bless him - it's so sweet when they are so pleased with themselves even when they miss their hands

Happy (belated) birthday Gigi!

Ahem -

I have a walking baby! Just today - she took 6 steps all be herself. Was at my Dad's house rather than nursery which was nice, and I saw her do it after work when I went to get her. My Dad has her 2 afternoons a week and they are both loving it, it's really nice to see her developing a great relationship with her grandpa, and vice versa. I am pretty sure he is on the autistic spectrum somewhere, and actually it works to her advantage, as when he is with her is completely and totally WITH her - no other distractions and she gets fabulous play and activity with him. And he loves having this little person who is so interested and interesting to him completely to himself. Win-win for both

LadyBee · 06/05/2009 20:53

Gigi's birthday sounds lovely MHAH, it's a lovely time isn't it!
And congratulations to Sam and Molly, fabulous talented babies both
Time with grandpa sounds fab, Ellie, we had a video call this morning with my parents, and B was so funny - batting at the screen, talking back at them, completely mesmerized by seeing people move and talk to him on the laptop.
I have a roast chicken in the oven...it smells soooo good...just a few more minutes!

EllieG · 07/05/2009 09:37

I could eat roast chicken now...it that weird at 9.30?

Soph73 · 07/05/2009 09:40

Morning all.

Thanks for that peachy, I'll let her know.

Ellie - way to go Molly. It's fab that your Dad gets to spend time with her and vice versa. It's the one thing we (and our parents) really do miss living so far away. With Tom it's nothing just to slot back in to being with them but with Sam they sort of have to introduce themselves to him again slowly as he doesn't remember seeing them However, that's the decision we made and even though we've been through so much this year I still wouldn't want to move back to England.

Oh and ..... CHIP DAY - hooray .... but with fish Fortunately I have some turkey in the fridge in the staffroom so will just nuke that - scrum!!

Soph73 · 07/05/2009 09:41

Ellie - not weird at all IMO, but then I like cold pizza or cold chinese for breakfast so probably not the best person to comment

VictorianSqualor · 07/05/2009 09:47

Hey all.
Haven't had time to read all the posts but clever walking babies!!!

Had a fab holiday but it seems there is something wrong with the panda
Pretty much every day for the last 8 weeks, with the exception of about a week in total, he has been vomiting.
Realised yesterday that it seems to coincide with the time he started cutting out his breastfeeds so am off to the docs again today to see if they have any ideas. Thread here if anyone has any suggestions. Will try and catch up with everyone later

rutyfruty · 07/05/2009 10:00

Hello all, happy birthday to the one year old babies, my dd turns one next week! Sorry to hear about your ds VS, will have a look at your thread.
DD been a nightmare on solids but just now starting to get the hang of it, insists on feeding herself so cleaning yoghurt off the ceiling every day. Standing but very small for age, has dropped down the centiles, and no walking yet except when I'm hoovering and she cruises around holding onto it!

Soph73 · 07/05/2009 10:08

Hi ruty and Happy Birthday to your LO for next week as I'm bound to forget

VS - sorry to hear about Panda, hope you get it sorted asap.

rutyfruty · 07/05/2009 10:35

doh! I meant this week. Thanks soph.

Soph73 · 07/05/2009 11:04

ruty - pleased it's not just me with a memory like a seive then

rutyfruty · 07/05/2009 12:08

LOL. My poor dd.

ScorpiowithabigS · 07/05/2009 12:53

Hello

My postman has it in for me; I'm sure. I really do think he waits for me to go out (i mean just pop out for 10 mins to get J from nursery) to deliver my parcels. I think he likes filling out the pick-up form and posting that instead.

Am waiting for ebay things

Mimi & Jamie had their photo one at nursery today; Jamie holding onto Mimi. Will post a picture when it comes in a few weeks.

Feel like i have been stuck in the house for weeeeeks.

Is weekend soon, yay. Hoping to go to Carvery just DH & I on sunday....if i stay awake!

Soph73 · 07/05/2009 13:24

LOL Scorpio. Our postman has taken to putting our mail under the mat instead of in the actual huge f-off post box nailed to the wall We actually thought our best friends had forgotten DH's and Sam's birthdays because there were no cards. But no, postie had put them under the mat!!!!!!

Please post that picture on here as well - can't wait to see it.

Soph73 · 07/05/2009 13:26

Was feeling very smug with myself today as I'm wearing my size 14 trousers that I bought 3 years ago and have never been able to wear ...... am now sitting here, after stuffing my face with meatballs and chips with said trousers unbuttoned and unzipped. Please keep your fingers crossed that none of our little buggers fantastic students want me to stand up and get something for them Might put them off coming in here again though, me flashing tomorrow's washing at them
