'lo all

Sorry for running in and moaning and leaving before. Work has been manic this week, I'm on call doing all the new referrals for a couple of weeks and is SO full on, and I'm not used to the pace after my lovely year off! At 11 o clock found myself looking at the clock longingly and thinking 'Ooo time for ITNG and a nap now!' but was not to be....

Is all OK though as no breaks mean am building up lots of time I get to take back with Molly, so there is a bright side. She was awake from 2.30-5.30 last night. God knows why - in the end did controlled crying as she was just overtired and needed to sleep. DH and me rowed cos he would leave her to cry it out and I just won't. I do CC as a sop to him really, and am prepared to leave her for 5 mins or so at a time before popping in, quick pat or put her down again if stands up, no talking or anything much, but am just not prepared to let her scream for as long as needed. And I told him that. Is the same old row, we have it every time, but I won't back down. I feel have compromised by doing CC, but he doesn't think that's enough. She doesn't do it often though, and I feel since it is really been bad since started at nursery, once she is more settled and really adjusted it will sort itself out, we just have to ride it out til then. Is hard going though, and I am making silly mistakes at work cos am so tired.

God am so me me me, sorry

Thanks for the chocolate, was virtually yum.

KnitterInTheNW · 28/04/2009 22:36

I'm totally with you re CC Ellie, I can just about cope with 5 mins of crying at a time and just think it would be cruel to leave G to cry himself to sleep. It's not for me. You're right, she needs the reassurance that you're still there with the change in routine with being at nursery, but also needs to know that it's sleep time. Stay consistant and she'll get the message.

KnitterInTheNW · 29/04/2009 07:38

Knobber of a DH put G to bed last night (yes that's a good thing but) 'didn't notice' that the cot side was down. Again. Same thing happened last time too. Don't feel like I can trust him to not 'not notice' next time too. I only found out when I went in to wake G up earlier, luckily he hadn't woken up and stood up, he'd have been over the side. I'm beyond frustrated with him. DH has a post it note with G's bedtime routine on (cos it's that hard to remember teeth, sleeping bag, dummy, story, drink of water, cuddle, bed). Didn't dream I'd have to write on it to make sure the cot side is up... That's just common sense surely?

ScorpiowithabigS · 29/04/2009 08:38

Knitter that sounds really annoying, especially that you have to write it on a post it note!

The boys have D&V - Jamie got it from nursery yesterday, had a runny bum, then Reilly went down about 4 hours after, with a 3am puke in the bed. DH sorted it all out and they are in quarantine in their room

i seriously cannot get this. i have bleached and hot washed loads of stuff, wash my hands all the time. i'm so totally terrified if i get it, it will make me lose the baby. I'm already paranoid enough day to day. Still waiting for scan appointment letter too so i see no end yet.

please help!!

KnitterInTheNW · 29/04/2009 08:51

Yikes Scorpio I don't know what to say. The fact that you're bleaching/hot washing/hand washing will help no end towards you not catching it. And remember that you didn't catch it when Mimi had it, and surely you'd be more likely to with her because of her dependance on you, IYSWIM? Remember too that babies are tough little cookies, I know your sad loss will make you question that but try to think positive thoughts? For us?

If I wasn't at almost the other end of the country I'd be over in a flash to help you with all the icky stuff!

ScorpiowithabigS · 29/04/2009 08:54

thats what i thought about mimi compared tothe boys; plus dh has seen to them not me. Jamie had one bad bum and reilly has sicked once; thats it, so not ongoing or huge risk i suppose but i hate this waiting game.

Would nhs direct think i was weird to ask? no-one seems to know what risk diarrhoea & vomiting may bring to me?

KnitterInTheNW · 29/04/2009 09:03

No, they won't think you're weird at all. In fact I think they'd be glad to be able to put a scared pg lady's mind at rest.

I'd have thought doing all the things you're doing will be more than enough to help. Also, I prescribe lots of TV and xbox for the boys today so you can put your feet up a bit!

ScorpiowithabigS · 29/04/2009 09:03

thankyou

KnitterInTheNW · 29/04/2009 09:04

We're off to tumble tots now, but will log in when we get back to see what NHS direct said.

OMaLittle · 29/04/2009 11:33

CONGRATULATIONS SCORPS!!!!!!! Sorry to have been absent for so long, been wrapped up in Big Life Plans such as where to live when we get back from our campervan adventures! Plus like LB I kill too much time on MN but UNLIKE LB I am thus v. disciplined about staying off it .

Happy birthday to all the LOs I've missed. We had a wonderful birthday season (DD1 3 on 19th, DD2 1 on 21st) and am delighted if a little wistful about my girls growing up.

Scorps, I had food poisoning on holiday (chicken salad YUK) when 12 weeks with DD2 and (obviously) she was fine. Was seriously rank, up puking all night and panicking like crazy (was also less than a week after our high risk scan). Everything will be fine. So excited for (and in awe of!) you.

ScorpiowithabigS · 29/04/2009 11:51

Thanks OMa. you should move to Cornwall and i am lol @ you being in awe if me i think im slightly mad.... but i love it.

Still no appointment letter in the post today. Shall i wait until Friday and then ring them?

Soph73 · 29/04/2009 12:37

Afternoon.
Poor you Scorpio, hope everyone is feeling better soon. Definitely ring NHS Direct, they won't mind at all and if it helps to put your mind at rest, even better

Hi Oma, pleased you're all doing OK

Ellie - keep your chin up lovey and just keep thinking about all that time with Mol once you've built up all those hours. Hope you get her sleep sorted soon.

My mum goes home tonight What will I do when she's gone. I dropped Sam home after his physio this morning and she'd already swept the living room and was on to the ironing. My house is going to revert back to the skip it usually is

Soph73 · 29/04/2009 16:21

Well, I can't believe that none of you have been around today Do you know I actually had to go off and do some work. I won't be the same y'know

Anyway, I'm off to do some more work and then go home

VictorianSqualor · 29/04/2009 17:26

I've just booked us a holiday

Northing fancy but a few days at Haven starting friday. Haven in.. Cornwall

SalLikesCoffee · 29/04/2009 21:49

Hello everybody!!!

Sorry I've been so quiet. It's the bloody year end, it's killing me. Have been getting home past 9 most nights, dinner then working again. I know this is probably just a "year end" feeling, but THIS ISN'T RIGHT. Will re-evaluate after end May - have major deadlines until then. At the moment, I hate it, and I can't continue this way.

Nicer news: We did end up in Bruges last weekend, and I'm eating the nicest chocolates in the world "as we speak"! Nothing fits anymore, but I don't care!

Less than 2 months, and we're off to Peru. And my two men just for myself.

I've just caught up with everyone's news - this is like getting a letter from home. I'm now marking this thread as "watch", as my not posting meant I lost you off my active convs, so couldn't even have a sneak look at work. [sulk]

Scorpio, I hope the stressful time passes quickly. xxx

LadyBee · 29/04/2009 23:59

much sympathy Sal and Ellie. I find work overload MUCH harder to cope with now, I think because I know that really, in the big scheme of things, it really ISN'T that important. So it's hard to convince myself that I should put any extra in.

Of course, actually in your case Ellie, it IS that important..so at least you know the time away from Mol is worth it to someone else. (Sal, no disrespect meant to importance of Year End )

I have just done an excel spreadsheet and worked out that if I get pregnant the month after we get married, it would be perfect timing for babybee getting those subsidized childcare hours by the time DC2 would be ready to go into childcare too...if only these things could be so predictable

Soooo, I reckon I might take myself off to the GP and get 3 months worth of pill (we both hate condoms) and then get back on the folic acid

ScorpiowithabigS · 30/04/2009 09:39

Sal & Ellie - I cannot imagine what you must go through to hold down these jobs and be parents. Keep going though ladies you are doing excellently.

Ladybee - you broody git. I have a teeny tiny bump

STILL waiting for my hospital appointment. It's been a week now? I know i can get a private appointment just like that.(is not too ££ either - £100)....arrgghhh the willpower! Don't want to go over GP's head iyswim as he is so good and feels like i'm saying his help isnt good enough. Think i will see about todays post and then maybe ring epu? [impatient]

VS - Yay i am soooooooo excited!!!!!!

Soph73 · 30/04/2009 10:02

Scorpio

Sal & Ladybee - I'm with Scorpio, don't know how you manage it.

Guess what ......

CHIP DAY, CHIP DAY, YAY! and tomorrow's a holiday so no school, double YAY and

We're supposed to be going on a picnic tomorrow so please, please keep your fingers crossed for good weather.

ScorpiowithabigS · 30/04/2009 10:08

at sex I'm too scared and also when DH is actually home i'm asleep He has started thai boxing again after his op, you see.

Right, I'm going to try to stay awake tonight.

Soph73 · 30/04/2009 10:52

Op????? What op? Must have missed that one!

You'll be waiting a long time for that announcement Scorpio. DH said last night that there is no chance of that happening ..... although I'm the one in charge of contraception No I wouldn't do that, honestly. We really don't have the money or the space I'll just be a virtual auntie to all you lot when you have your others

ScorpiowithabigS · 30/04/2009 11:35

2 bites got infected and turned into cysts so when he landed in this country he had to go straight to hospital, under GA, to have them cut out.

I am in charge of contraception too lol. We aren't having anymore though, so will use something long term like a coil after this baby.

Soph73 · 30/04/2009 11:53

Oh poor thing.

Have you scheduled a long afternoon nap so that you'll be awake tonight

ScorpiowithabigS · 30/04/2009 12:42

No chance of a nap here Soph, all 3 are home today!

ScorpiowithabigS · 30/04/2009 12:55

I have a scan appointment for 12 May. I will be 8 weeks hopefully that day...God that feels an age away, a whole 12 more days of this! I suppose its not that far away, really, and at least at 8 weeks there will be no 'is it there isnt it' issues.

Please help me until then! It's a week tuesday.

Soph73 · 30/04/2009 13:25

I'm here to hold your hand lovey

My computer is sick so the ICT guy is going to be working on it from 1.30pm so I shall say a provisional bye bye just in case I don't get back. Have good weekends everyone, see you Monday
