Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
chipmonkey · 15/04/2009 22:06

Sorry tent thread

LadyBee · 15/04/2009 22:28

VS, how would the early mornings work though? Would you be able to choose different days each week to fit in with DHs schedule or is it the same three days each week?
More money for fewer hours is good, and so is shorter travel time.

Oddness from your PIL, I guess it never stops being both surprising and annoying. They just don't seem to really pay any attention to real details - so strange to buy a trike meant for so much older child.
I just don't know what to make of it

LadyBee · 15/04/2009 22:45

oh completely forgot to say "Happy Birthday" Alex and Knitter!!

Knitter, you should sit DP down tomorrow and say "I'm telling you this one time only, I always want a birthday cake on my birthday, I would prefer it to be made by you without reminders, but if you need to you can buy me one if it is luxury, very chocolatey and I get to eat the last piece. I will give you ideas for presents if you ask me, I would like it if you arranged a dinner out or a birthday tea or SOMETHING, I don't think it's fair that I organise my own birthday as well as everyone else's. Please remember this for as long as we are together".

SalLikesCoffee · 16/04/2009 00:19

Hello everybody! Just a quick "hi", then I'll collapse in bed. This bloody year end is going to kill me... (Sorry for being so rude - I promise I'll be nicer once I get more than 3hrs sleep per night again. )

Happy birthday, Knitter (and A again, VS!)

Scorpio, hope all is ok with dh. Thinking of you. xxx

EllieG · 16/04/2009 08:59

Mornin' all. Molly still unsettled, cried so much last night and at nursery this morning. Am going to takeher back to doc tomorrow as I have a throat infection and think she might be same.

socprio - how is Mimi's lump today? And your DH?

VS - I'd go with care home job. You'll get plenty teaching experience on placement.
And I'd be fuming at PIL too - can you take it back and swap it for a more age appropriate trike? Say to them that is too big and you'd love him to be able to use their present straight away?

sal - have a nice cup of tea

ladybee and chipmonkey and everyone else - hello

ScorpiowithabigS · 16/04/2009 09:17

Yes LadyBee - lump visible nd kind of protruding when she cries, not visible when she doesn't cry.

Clinic open next week; might just take her there. and poke her to make her cry or something

DH is ok, should be home just after lunch time.

He better be able

Peachy · 16/04/2009 11:01

Hello all
CM have replied on thread

Wellall quiet ehre, went to a farm yesterday (very brave but its all fenced in so no escaping sons LOL)........ still not decided about today, need to get to Newport for ds3's new uniform but scared of city plus boys minus dh. Might wait until tomorrow when dh about.

Dh 's redundancy news held off by two weeks as Union have pointed out not enough legal notice; Dh glad of extra 2 weeks but also a bit sad that the wait ahs been drawn out, also we'll get news when we're away so that'll be nice. Not. From what we hear its all complicated: Dh'splace has part won back the contract they lost and it is unrunnable with the staff they would keep but shareholders refusing to stall redundancies as usual cost crap; tehy're feeling vindictive after unions requesting legals are uphhels (feckers). DH isnt in the union which may work in his favour (only becuase all union reps have mysteriosuly been sacked over the years...).

Anyway we know what a mess up HR is (becuase of a mumsnetter who used to work there and used to CAT me gossip before she walked) so it is just wait and see.

LadyBee · 16/04/2009 11:35

Hi Scorpio, that sounds like it could possibly be an umbilical hernia - you should definitely take her to GP and poke her . Disclaimer: I'm working on a children's medical book at the moment but that doesn't make me an expert . From what I can see, if it is a hernia it will probably be fine by itself and not need treatment but does need to be checked out.

Gah for you & DH Peachy. I HATE stuff like this..all the waiting and pissy-ness and general shite attitudes, you'd think the people making the decisions had never known anyone in the position of being made redundant. Personally I think everyone who wants to be a manager must be made to go through it at least once.

ScorpiowithabigS · 16/04/2009 11:37

oh poo LadyBee. i saw it again this morning, again when crying at nappy time. GP then?

LadyBee · 16/04/2009 12:29

Yes I think would be best - but not urgent unless it's there all the time and she seems in pain

EllieG · 16/04/2009 13:52

Sounds a bugger about your DH peachy - horrid all the waiting around too. Work politics is so crappy sometimes isn't it?

Peachy · 16/04/2009 14:17

Ah yes, what amde me feel worse though is being told on a MN thread that my family deserved to be put in a workhouse if he lost his job - came V V close to flouncing that day!

chipmonkey · 16/04/2009 14:43

What??????
Oh, was that one of ye olde threades from the 1800's?

Peachy · 16/04/2009 14:52

Nope, a thread about a woman who diharassed her neighbours and was being amde homeless; it changed into a slaughter the benefits claimants theyre all the same type thread.

LadyBee · 16/04/2009 23:09

oh dear Peachy, you do seem to come up against some priceless MNetters. Or there do seem to be a few unthinking people on here at the moment.

This time last year I was hitting the wall and pleading with the MW check me as I was absolutely sure I was over 5cm and wanted to get in the pool. I was 6cm by the time the pool was filled and went from there to 8 in about an hour. Unfortunately I said the words I will always regret "I feel a bit faint", the MW hit the alarm bell, told me I had to get out my pool of bliss, and from then on it all went downhill...epidural, on my back, lack of progress, syntocin, contractions progressively less 'organised' , pain down back but no hints from MW that perhaps letting epidural wear off a bit and shifting position might help...finally...c-section and beautiful (big) boy born at 3:27pm the next afternoon.

I did feel a bit faint, but mostly what I felt was a bit panicked, because I was starting to get the urge to bear down and didn't know what to do and stupid MW wasn't any help and didn't seem to recognise that I was starting to grunt and what that might be. Oh well...I did heal quickly and had my lovely parents around to help out.

This is the reason I can't leave mumsnet I need your support for the next time around. Now...got to go set up a little boy's trike

EllieG · 17/04/2009 09:38

Happy birthdays to -

paranoidmumy's DS
lorisparkle's DS
And

BABYBEE!!!!

Have a lovely day all x

peachy at stupid thread. Oh my bloody god some people make me so cross. FFS you work and you look after your kids well and that's what benefits are bloody for, to help out when stuff like this happens! It must be nice for those who have never had to feel uncertain or worry about anything...grrr

Right. Off to do some work now. Molly bit better this morning and didn't cry when left her at nursery, which was nice. Even managed a smile for her keyworker. And she is getting lots of attention from me as when I pick her up and get home I don't do anything but play with her and cuddle until her bedtime, so I think she is still feeling loved enough! Have decided housework and dinner for the other's can wait. And DH has pulled his finger out a bit and done some jobs too.

TheShipsCat · 17/04/2009 09:43

happy birthday babybee

dd1 has become obsessed with Dolly Parton. If I have to listen to Jolene or Nine to Five one more time...which of course, I will. All bloody weekend.

Scorpio - is DH home now?

TheShipsCat · 17/04/2009 10:39

anyone?

VictorianSqualor · 17/04/2009 11:46

Happy Birthday BabyBee

I've decided not to take the care home job. I just went along and had a look around and tbh I don't ever want to go back. In comparison a lively, happy, clean nursery versus an old folks home where they all seem sad, and it's really quiet and dull and doesn't smell too pretty, sorry if it makes me insensitive but I'd take the nursery anyday. So am looking forward to starting at the nursery on Monday and squeezing in as many hugs with little babies as possible

OP posts:
TheShipsCat · 17/04/2009 12:00

I have to say that the nursery sounds like a much nicer place to be. Cuddling babies that you can give back before night time is perfect!

EllieG · 17/04/2009 12:01

Good plan then! I can completely see you point actually, thinking about it. I used to work at an old folks home, and a nursery would be waaaaay more fun.

Are you excited?

ScorpiowithabigS · 17/04/2009 13:03

Yes DH is home now and seems ok, but gets very tired very easily. I have refused his many offerings to look at the wound. Poor boy. So lovely having him home though, really is.

Did i tell you i have been teasing him about having 5 dc? And do you know, he doesn't say no

VS you sound happy with oyur choice and thats all that matters.

Soph - i demand to know how you are and laso its 7 weeks and 2 days until i am in Gran Canaria!! We are hiring a car too so wherever you are i can come and see you, if you want?

Got Mimi her birthday presents today; its tomorrow!! And, i have a walking baby

TheShipsCat · 17/04/2009 13:11

Congratulations Mimi!

MommyHasaHeadache · 17/04/2009 14:30

Happy Birthday BabyBee!!!

I'm glad you decided not to go away Ladybee - we chicks have to stick together!

The closer I'm getting to Gigi's 1st birthday, the more emotional I'm getting. I can't beelive my little baby is almost a year old. Everyone tells you how quickly the time goes, and at the time I just thought 'yeah, yeah', but now I know - it really does. We have sort of made up ours minds that there will be no No.2, and tbh, I know its for the best, but I MISS MISS MISS my tiny little baby. Don't know if I am making much sense!

Just dropped Gigi off at nursery - she is still sobbing at drop off. I hate it. I feel awful for the whole time she is there. They tell me that she is fine once there, but really it is just so heart wrenching leaving her crying her eyes out.

Scorpio - so what exactly was wrnog with your DH? Is okay now? Was this some bug he picked up in Thailand?

TSC - I certainly wouldn't want my neighbour's kid who wasn't even a friend of my DC hanging around my home! Especially with a river in my garden! Why don't you just ask him why he's at yours the whole time?

VS - when you originally told us about the care job, I thought to myself - stick to the babies! Did Panda have a lovely birthday?

MommyHasaHeadache · 17/04/2009 14:30

Oh and YAY for Mimi!!! You go girl!
