Here we go ladies, thanks for giving me the honour of starting us off again!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LackaDAISYcal · 01/04/2009 20:30

DD had rice cakes long before seven months iirc. I felt that as she was happily eating huge chunks of veg and bread by that time, a melt in the fist rice cake was no problem.

Ceebee74 · 01/04/2009 20:32

Daisy you can't argue with the lad can you? He obviously knows what he wants!!

Coolkat sorry you are feeling like sh*t - I echo Hana's suggestion of really bland food (dry toast to start maybe?)

Chocolategal Sam also gets like that when I take him into work - I think it is the constant passing around etc - too much stimulation for them.

emmanj was going to ask how the feeding was going now but clearly from your post, not very well Maybe she is in pain or overtired tonight.

All well here - Sam is pretty much draining a 9oz bottle every feed now so not sure how much longer I can hold off weaning - seems ok at the mo but I would be very very surprised if I make it to 26 weeks like I planned as that is still 7 weeks away!

Right am going to do all my jobs now so I can sit and watch the Apprentice whilst painting my toenails for the first time since Sam was born (will be novel to actually be able to reach them )

PinkyMinxy · 01/04/2009 20:40

Hi all

lol bumble and the puree! Aren't children just fab at this sort of thing! But sounds like he's ready for dinners.

coolkat hope you are feeling better.

DS found his easter egg today he has been asking for a thomas egg since they put the bigest display of them IN THE WORLD all along the checkout line at our local supermarket GRRRR. I had bought him a way cool Ben10 one witha torch, so I was reluctant to buy him another, but when I went today they were down to the last few so I relented. And he found it.

I am still making him wait til Easter Sunday, though! He has been asking every morning if it's easter sunday yet for about three weeks! bless him.

I just hope he appreciates that I have gone all this time with chocolate in the house that I have manged not to eat!

MonkeyMargot · 01/04/2009 20:44

Lacks funny little bumble going for the mash. And who can blame him? Doesn't mean you can't still BLW, surely?
Question for you - I am intending to BLW, but am concerned it will mean Plum will be attached to my breasts for a longer period (as I've read that it takes a little longer for them to adjust to "real" food as opposed to mushy stuff), and that I may have to have DH deliver her back to work every lunchtime when I return in July, just to feed her...

coolkat and lacks you're both feeling poopie. No time for looking after yourself when you're a mum...

ceebee I so want to paint my toenails!! I've been meaning to do them since Plum arrived, and despite having "prepped" them several times (with a farriers file...) I've never managed it so far.
Surprised you're not watching the England match! Crouch just scored and did a ridiculous robot dance.

Another weaning question. Plum was gaining weight at a massive rate, normally 10-12ounces a week. However, in past 2/3 weeks, her weight gain has slowed right down. This week was only 1 ounce. Yet bizarrely has coincided with her best sleeping ever (2 x proper sleep throughs). So my question, is she getting enough from my milk still, given she is sleeping well?

Ceebee74 · 01/04/2009 20:48

Am still here!!

Pinky lol at DS finding the Thomas easter egg - DS1 seems to find stuff that I have hidden wherever I put it! His easter eggs are on top of the fridge where he can't reach (and if it makes you feel better, I have ended up buying him 2 Thomas eggs as I couldn't resist )

Monkey I really wanted to watch the footy but I would rather watch the Apprentice and as DH is away with the laptop I can't surf/MN and watch telly so am getting in my surfing now before the Apprentice starts iyswim. (I wonder if Crouch's dance was in relation to the Comic Relief sketch with Gavin??)

As for weaning, when I spoke to the HV last week about Sam's weight, she said it is quite normal for their weight to tail off once they get past 4 months as they start to get more mobile - I guess more wriggling, kicking and rolling over (although obviously not Sam as his back is firmly attached to the floor at all times )

Rosa · 01/04/2009 20:51

Just a quick post as the Gps have arrived from the Uk - We took the dds to meet them and dd1 was so excited it was lovely as she saw planes and boats and then her beloved Grandma - She does love her Grandad as well but she was like glue to my mum - lovely.
I still don't have anything to wear for teh christening and I am hoping to try bewteen feeds after lunch tom but some shops here close in the afternoon here so I will go back to the shops that I was looking at last week in the hope they have something new !
Had a quick skim - LOl at Bumble Minirosa had a finger or apple puree and she is still atteh lapping sucking stage and not ready plus she sits at the table and is not interested.
Easter Eggs - DD wants every one she sees - I want her to have a Lindt Bunny as she can share it with her mum !! Might not be on as muchj in next few days so happy days to you all and thanks for you messages of moral support over clothes !

MonkeyMargot · 01/04/2009 20:52

ceebee ahh - that makes sense re. weight gain tailing off. Thanks for the reassurance.
Crouchie - of course! he did the old "rope pull" manoeuvre! Brilliant!!

Ceebee74 · 01/04/2009 20:54

As for the ricecake, I can't remember when DS1 had one but I remember my friend giving her DD2 one just before christmas and her DD2 would have been 7 months old (and my friend is VERY careful and would not give her DD's anything that they shouldn't have - so much so that she actually sat her DD on her lap and held the ricecake for her and fed it to her - both me and DH were a bit - too much like hard work to me )

Rosa really hope you can find something to wear - best of luck on Sunday and hope the christening is lovely and happy

Emmanj · 01/04/2009 20:57

ceebee - despite the blip tonight (which was caused by over tiredness and being passed and faffed around by various annoying family members who decide to turn up and visit at 5pm (which is usually DD's witching hour) teh feeding is actually going much better. switched to 4 hourly instaed of 3 on your suggestion and its made the world of difference. i think i was trying to cram food in her beofre when she just didnt wnat it yet!!! how simple, yet i just didnt see it!! and also porb her gums too at the mo.

chocolatgal, just checked my e mail and nothing from you as far as i can see? did u mean my hotmail account? not sure where it is linked to here?

LackaDAISYcal · 01/04/2009 20:57

Monkey, their weight can slow down a bit, but that seems a bit of a drastic drop; Make sure that they were using the same scales as before, and have done the conversion from kilos to pounds and ozs correctly. some BF babies can drop down the centiles as well, which in itself isn't anything to worry about.

I wouldn't worry about it too much as a one off blip, but would keep an eye on it. And remember, there are more calories in BM than in a bit of apple puree as well (my butter and full-fat-milk laden mash on the other hand....)

LackaDAISYcal · 01/04/2009 21:00

And good luck Rosa on your shopping; I hope you get something and that the christening goes well

football.....what is this thing of which you speak????

MerryMarigold · 01/04/2009 21:02

ceebee, lol at the rice cake!

eastereggs, not bought any yet. [if anyone wants to buy me one, i'd like one with treats on the INSIDE ]... ds1 thinks every easter egg is a 'kinder egg' even a card one he decorated at playschool, "look at the kinder egg i made mummy!" oh dear, i have created a child of marketing.

MonkeyMargot · 01/04/2009 21:03

lacks hmm. I watched them with my hawk-eye as they weighed her, and I also weighed her at home. She was climbing the percentiles, and is still on 98th, so she clearly has some padding to fall back on. Don't worry - I'm not desperate to start weaning.

chocolategal · 01/04/2009 21:03

EmmanJ i apologise! it isnt you i have emailed!!! DOH!!!

MonkeyMargot · 01/04/2009 21:06

lacks DH loves footie. I can take or leave. But when England are playing, I like to get a butcher's of Gerrard...yum yum. And in the past, Mr.Beckham.

LackaDAISYcal · 01/04/2009 21:06

98th centile ....she's not going to starve then

There's a bit on kellymom about catch down growth and loads of threads on here if you search for it.

Emmanj · 01/04/2009 21:18

Yes Beckham....in the past and now...infact, anytime monkey !!!

LackaDAISYcal · 01/04/2009 21:19

My DH hates football and all things sporty other than winter sports, climbing and fishing. He's a good un

PinkyMinxy · 01/04/2009 21:30

lol monkey 98th centile. I reckon Mimi's somewhere like that she is very royl poly bless her, and fits some of her 9-12 months clothes with ease.

I am feeling that peer pressure thing now. I may try herr with some food at the weekend, but I don't really think she's ready.

Neither DH or I 'do' footie. thank goodness.

ROsa hope the christening goes well, and I hope you setle on soemthign lovely to wear!

hana I bet it feels strange going for job interviews.

Emmanj · 01/04/2009 21:35

marigold - not testing until i see whether i come on, due 9th April so not long to wait now! its really stressing me out but DH has told me to 'get over myself' and stop worrying about it until we know we've got something to worry about!...(easier said than done!)
i do appreciate eveyones support on here, you guys are the only ones around me who i truly feel know exactly what im worrying about and my concerns!!! I am the 1st out of all my mates to have a baby and noone quite understands, and i dont feel that close to any of my NCT.antenatel friends to be discussing my sex life and drunken episodes, and i think my mum would freak out if i shared this little gem with her too!

Tinkerisdead · 01/04/2009 21:36

sorry i havent been able to get on here as DH moaning we not spending time together post baby and been out each day with Soph. Sorry its rude to just crash in with me me me but if daisy is around

can you check out me weight gain and going to the GP post on BF topic. Its follow on from my prob before DD has only gained 2oz in 5 weeks and HV will be contacting GP. Scared the wits out of me.

ChocOrange05 · 01/04/2009 21:38

Beckham then, now and anytime - as I just told DH, he's the only man I would leave DH for!! I LOVE BECKHAM!!!!!!!!!

ChocOrange05 · 01/04/2009 21:48

Daisy how old is Bumble?

I have been thinking about weaning M - he's usually a really happy baby but recently he's been getting quite upset and frustrated at feeding. That along with really erratic nights - he doesn't wake too much but he's stopped sleeping through and is very hungry when he does wake. He is also a really sicky baby and the HV said paedeatricians recommend early weaning for reflux. I am a bit confused by it all - I was thinking about letting M decide if he's ready by offering him some food and seeing what he does - surely he's the best judge? He is 20 weeks (he was 10 days late if that makes a difference?)

Merry I love your DS's reference to kinder eggs. IIRC you are one of those terrible mothers who buys fruit shoots aren't you?

Monkey have you seen the popular active convo's today - there is one of BF chubsters - made me think of Plum, I am still so impressed how she is getting all that from your mega-boobs!

OP posts:
ChocOrange05 · 01/04/2009 21:52

BTW - Monkey just realised how rude my last post was - sounded like I was calling Plum a chubster, I wasn't, just referring to the active convo's title, but I think it came across that way...

Sorry!!!!!!!!
