ChocOrange05 · 01/04/2009 21:59

I was going to ask that - I had horrid heartburn too but my DS doesn't have too much hair - maybe I didn't suffer enough

PMSL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dozymare · 02/04/2009 07:02

morning all

Those are NOT hairbands, they are WIGS. Wigs for babies but funny!

Tiger still showing no signs whatsoever of being ready to wean, have tried her on a few bits and bobs as a taster but she couldn't care less! As I said to choc yesterday(BTW lovely to see you and M again!) both boys were so ready and were in fact on 3 meals a day at this stage (which I think is 22 weeks today? )

However, she did wake at 6am this morning and was really hungry, took 8oz so will see what happens over the next few weeks. I am in no hurry though, as know the mess that is going to follow!

at this rate, she will be a BLW who skips the puree stage out anyway (as I only pureed until DC's were 6 months, then progressed onto mashed and finger foods). Makes me how all kids are so different!

have a lovely day everyone, roll on half term!

tegan · 02/04/2009 07:51

Morning all - After a crap wkend with O going to the bottle and totally rejecting me, we had a great meet with hv and O is now on 5 x 6oz bottles and having a little solids twice a day. A week ago he was wkaing for a huge feed in the night but now he has gone down to waking for a couple of oz and going back down so hopefully he is settling back down and wil be sleeping through again soon. We have noticed that he seems happier and much chattier too which is a bonus.

LadyBuzz · 02/04/2009 08:04

Morning,
Hope everyone who has been feeling poorly is feling a little better today.

Ellielou DH and I stayed at Alton towers a few years ago, we were in the other hotel but ate in Splash landings - It was fab, hope you enjoy it!

Rosa hope you get your outfit sorted.

Jay had his first taste of Carrot yesterday and LOVED it - I think I have a savoury baby! He is so different from DS1 who was also on 3 meals by this stage.

DH came home yesterday, we are going to try and work through things now. I'm sure we will be fine and I am putting this down to a temporary hormone induced loss of sanity! Onwards and upwards from now on in.

ChocOrange05 · 02/04/2009 09:00

Thats brilliant news about you and your DH Ladybuzz!!

OP posts:
LolaBella · 02/04/2009 09:35

lovely news Ladybuzz

We have started weaning too . Only one meal a day and i have to say O loves it. His little legs go in between mouthfuls and he moans when i don't spoon it fast enough or when it is finished. So far we have tried. Sweet potatoe, normal mashed Pot, carrot (his fav so far) and parsnip (which he hated but will try again!)

No real improvements here yet on nighttime wakings. Still 4 times last night but at least he went straight back to sleep.

Had to go for a smear test yesterday. Had been putting it off for a couple of months but made myself go and ouch couldn't believe how painful it was. Doctor said it was prob because i am breastfeeding and things are a bit more dry than usual . I know it is worth it though.

Lovely day here again. I am off to meet the other 7 ladies from my workplace who have had their babies since Sept. There must have been something in the water as there are now 13 confimed babies or pregnancies announced since Sept.

LackaDAISYcal · 02/04/2009 09:49

LadyBuzz, that is fantastic news . I think sometimes it needs us to take a step back before we can see what we really have.

The dating thing sounds good, and DH and I have said we are going to try and make the effort to do some more "us" stuff....bloody difficult with three kids and a demanding BF baby tho!!

Not sure where I'm going with weaning really. Like Dozy's older two, DS1 was on three meals a day by this age, and DD was having breakfast and joining in at the table with some bits of veg and stuff. I really don't want to do the puree thing, so will probably just give bumble some mashed up bits of whatever we are eating. We never use salt in cooking anyway so all the veg we cook will be fine.

I wish I could report that his tea last night made him sleep better, but alas no!!

ruthosaurus · 02/04/2009 09:55

Hi all,

Well done Lola, sympathy for the ouch. The trick is to get the smear done just after having a coil fitted and then it's all a bit relative but I totally know what you mean. Better safe than sorry, eh? Poor Jade.

Weaning - I am mostly dead set against weaning Fin in my "no child of mine is having a dummy, oops how did that get in there?" sort of a way and I keep getting told that he can't deal with food until he is six months old or can sit up unaided but he keeps grabbing my plate and wakes up for a feed at 4am which he hasn't done since 10 weeks. Any advice? Plus DH is one of the many people who keep muttering "get him on baby rice" to me, which isn't helping.

Wigs for babies - erm, wtf? It's as bad as those baby high heels...

Hang on, no, I'm wrong. Nothing is as bad as them (apart from famine, war etc, obviously).

LackaDAISYcal · 02/04/2009 10:04

Lola my smear hurt reallllllly badly as well. Results normal though which I'm relieved at as I've had abnormal results in the past and hadn't had one done for five or six (can't quite remember) years

DD has been up since 6am

LackaDAISYcal · 02/04/2009 10:09

rutho....if you think he's not ready yet, then just wait....and quote NHS and WHO at whoever is trying to get you to feed him babyrice.

I'm quite scared abot feeding bumble real food if I'm honest, as there are days when I forget that I've not eaten or DD hasn't eaten (thankfully she is good at asking now ). I'm safe with milk!

Oh, and I weighed myself this morning.....I am a stone lighter than I was on my birthday at the beg of Feb, and the lightest I've been since before DD was born. Hell of a way to diet though

Ceebee74 · 02/04/2009 10:12

Morning ladies - and what a beautiful one it is good job I painted my toenails last night as I think my sandals may get an airing today!!

LB am so happy for you and your DH I bet the boys are really happy aswell!

Rutho I am with you on the 'not before 26 weeks' for weaning but I honestly don't think Sam is going to make it that far!

But, having said that, is being able to sit up unaided a pre-requisite as he can't do that yet - he kind of just slumps in his highchair looking a bit disgruntled and definitely doesn't have the co-ordination yet to reach anything off the tray

Smear tests - I am another one who hasn't had one for years - I kept putting it off or finding excuses. Needless to say, thanks to Jade, I have one booked for the beginning of May (the earliest they could fit me in - methinks there are a lot of ladies like me) Not looking forward to it though!

As for the children being different - mine seems to be the opposite way round to all of yours. DS1 was never fussed about milk or food really - he was definitely not having full bottles at 4 months like Sam is (I don't think DS1 ever got up to full bottles actually) and when I started weaning him at 6 months, he was a 'take it or leave it' kind of boy - nothing changed there then!! I am hoping Sam is going to be like lola has descirbed O in that he wants more, eats it with enthusiasm etc - must be lovely to feed a child like that

LolaBella · 02/04/2009 10:17

Yah for 1 stone weight loss daisy thats fab

Rutho tell you dh that weaning has made no difference whatsoever to O's sleeping and he has not cut out any breastfeeds either. I give him his tea of sweet potatoe etc at 5pm and is usually followed by a bit of pear/apple/banana etc plus a breastfeed. He then has another breastfeed after a bath at 7pm before bed and still wakes 3-6 times a night for a feed. They are not short feeds either a good 20 mins each time last night so he must be hungry.

Not a lot of calories in a bit of mashed carrot/potatoe/baby rice.

I would def do whats right for you guys and don't feel under pressure

coolkat · 02/04/2009 10:22

Glad everyone else is starting to talk about weaning, thought I was an outcast!!

Don't feel as sick but still got upset tummy I am so tired, DH left me in bed with Becca as we both fell asleep after 6.45 feed and I woke at 9!! Missed the school run and everything, must have needed it!

Good to see you Rutho and Drswife . x

londonboots · 02/04/2009 10:37

ladybuzz congrats and good luck for you and DH working it out/working on it!

ooh, this weaning stuff is hard! (actually, this mum stuff is hard!) i don't think M is ready - doesn't seem particularly interested in food...but maybe he is and I just need to offer him something...hmmmm. he certainly seems to be doing ok on just breastmilk so i think i will aim for the magic 6 months.

for dozy and choc (as you've made your shopping passion clear!) and anyone else who has any thoughts.. we're off to the US in a couple of weeks (DP going for work - me tagging along to shop!) - what should I buy in the US for M that is cheaper or that you can't get here? I've noticed the skip hop stuff is MUCH cheaper in the US so I'm assuming there's probably a bunch of baby products that are the same. Old Navy is one of my faves and I'm going to stock up on clothing but have nothing else on my list as yet...

LackaDAISYcal · 02/04/2009 10:37

I'm glad you are feeling a little better coolkat; try and rest as much as you can. You and Becca should have a duvet day

and well done your DH for letting you lie in

Honeymoonmummy · 02/04/2009 11:02

Chocorange re reflux, have you tried infant gaviscon? If not I would try that before early weaning, you need a docs prescription for it. My DD has reflux, it's been quite bad and she saw a paed at approx 10 weeks, she's on gaviscon + 2 other drugs and they said if she didn't gain weight it may be a solution to wean from 4 months. Apart from one week she has gained weight though.

Apparently going on solids sometimes just means they're vomiting solids rather than milk. Another option is to try going dairy-free for a minimum 2 weeks to see if that helps as reflux babies are said to do better without cows milk protein and it certainly seems to be helping my DD. She's 5 months now and I'm hoping to stick as close to 6 months as possible before weaning

Emmanj · 02/04/2009 11:05

hi all,

a stone daisy!! thats fab, im desperatley trying to fit back into my clothes as it depresses me having nothing to wear but its coming off sooooooo slowly!

londonboots US sounds fab! not sure whats cheaper there but will be nice to have look for bits that u cant get here.

im really interested in follwing the weaning advice - im not ready yet as DD is a bit younger tgan yours, as even though i was due on 19th nov, i ended up being 2 weeks late, and had a mammoth hideous 3 day induction. DD was 9lb 9oz though, and has always eaten like a horse...(excpet for recent blip with bottles but seem to be back on track now after your help on here).

om going away on a hen weekend 2mw, mum has DD for the weekend - is it wrong to look forward to sleeping more than partying!!

Ceebee74 · 02/04/2009 11:43

If anyone is interested I have put a recent photo of Sam on my profile so you can all see just how severe his hair loss has been My hairy baby is now bald (and yes, I did have terrible heartburn!)

LackaDAISYcal · 02/04/2009 11:49

My what a difference in him Ceebee . Still gorgeous though .

bumbles has all gone too and the suff that's growing in is a strawberry blond colour (that ole ginger gene again). I'll get some new photos up soon.

Where his hair has all rubbed off at the back he has a big purple mark. People keep asking if it's a birth mark, but it definately wasn't there at birth and has only appeared recently. I think it's just pressure from lying on it...any ideas?

ChocOrange05 · 02/04/2009 12:08

honeymoonmummy he was on gaviscon but it made him really constipated so we stopped using it. The downside is he is ALWAYS sick but he is gaining weight so its not a major problem - just need extra clothes!

He slept through last night 11-6.45 so if he does this I won't be rushing to wean him - I am keen to wait the 26 weeks so lets hope last night wasn't a blip!

londonboots not sure what is cheap in the US but my dad lives over there and bought M a load of Gymboree clothes for him which are really nice - lovely material and really cute. Might be worth a visit!!

Congrats on losing a stone Daisy that's ace - maybe not the nicest way to do so though. I think it was Obs talking about comfort eating before, I am the opposite, when I am stressed I can't eat (hence losing all my baby weight in about a month) - best diet I ever had was a break up one - hmmm good marriage with DH versus size 10 body??

Rosa · 02/04/2009 13:22

QUick post as all asleep in my house ( ddx2) gps and dh !!!
I have something to wear on sat HURRAH ! I left minirosa with dh and a bit of ebm topped up with formula and set off with mum and we have something- I could do with shoes as well but not pushing my luck
Londonboots my tips for US - but it depends where you are going .
Oshkosh generally is cheaper as is Gap. PLus all the lables like Ralph Lauren/ Hilfiger etc etc
I hit Target - just complete bargains all round- good cheap playwear and the stuff I had from there is still going strong ! Then there is a chain that does all the labels at rocket bottom prices it has large blue lettering outside and if the name comes to me I will let you know. When I was pg with dd1 no kidding I filled a 20kg suitcase with clothes for the first 12 mths - plus some bedding !
Daisy minirosa has like a purple strawberry on her baldpatch and the paed said its normal !

juanitad · 02/04/2009 13:57

wow ceebee, can't believe how different he looks!! P still has hardly any hair, DH is worrying needlessly! We could always get him some of those baby bangs!!
