hana, glad you got a good interview outfit. what kind of job is it? sorry, i missed it all if you spoke about it before. hope you recover from your busy day before Fri.

I am off to try and get ds1 into another school. He has been going to taster sessions at his new school and I asked my Mum to go and check it out but she was not v impressed. The other school is closer, but I never put his name down as the other was supposed to be better and I thought since he was down at the other one there was no point.

dh is working at Royal Bank of Scotland at the moment, hence his nervousness at the demonstrations today. I don't think it'll be that bad - we don't live in France!

twinkling, your dd is gorgeous. lovely eyes

coolkat, oh no poor you. not what you need on top of the other health stuff...

LackaDAISYcal · 01/04/2009 10:30

Morning all.

I had a whole six hours (undisturbed by baby) sleep last night, although I woke up feeling hot/cold/sweaty/sore several times. Still feel better for it today. I went to bed at 10, bumble slept till nearly 1, I fed him and then DH took him downstairs and he slept in his pram till 6.30. so a better night in terms of his feeds. We're going to do it again tonight. I'm pretty sure the fact I'm right next to him smelling of yummy milk is making him wake up. He needs to go in the nursery but too scared he'll wake DD or vice versa.

I'm feeling better today thankfully, the aching isn't so bad and my wound is looking less angry so the ABs are working their magic already.

sorry you're still poorly coolkat, sounds like a nasty bug.

pmsl at wizards sleeve ellie

rosa, I hope you can find something lovely to wear for Saturday.

twinkling your DD is gorgeous....you need to get a photo of DS up there as well though.

coolkat · 01/04/2009 10:38

Advice:

Not been eating, had a crumpet, made me ill again. Do I continue to BF Becca? Surely she is not getting anything good and more likely to catch a bug. DH is concerned. Feel so sick and the other end to . . .

sorry for me post . .

LackaDAISYcal · 01/04/2009 10:49

coolkat.....becca will still get all she needs from you. you need to be on the verge of starvation before the nutrients in your milk are affected.

Also, you will be passing antibodies to this bug to her in your milk, so she may not get it at all, and if she does it won't be as severe.

here

It's horrible though having to muster up the strength to BF when sick

coolkat · 01/04/2009 10:56

Cheers daisy. X

She is more whingy not going to give her food today, perhaps just baby rice. Wish someone would come take her for an hour! No such luck. DH just gone to work....

chocolategal · 01/04/2009 11:13

Morning everyone,
Glad you are feeling a little better daisy
Sorry you are still not feeling good coolkat.

Agree beautiful DD twinkling.

We were up 3 times last night instead of usual twice so a little more tired than usual. Going up to work at lunchtime though as it is one of the girls in my team last day before she starts her maty leave. Looking forward to seeing everyone but it is making me realise that I have to go back eventually and my baby bubble isn't forever

MerryMarigold · 01/04/2009 13:13

lacks, glad you are feeling a bit better, love. how's ds1 today?

obs - well there is a fine line between really enjoying your food and it giving you loads of pleasure (me all the time) and comfort eating (not happy, let me eat half a loaf of bread and peanut butter).
I think I have crossed over the fine line!

coolkat, it is really hard to bf when you are not eating. I tried expressing both boobs when I had bad flu and ended up having to lie on the floor for 30mins as I got so faint. If you can try and eat a little something while you feed her - marmite on toast? rich tea biscuit? plain bread?

MerryMarigold · 01/04/2009 13:15

ps. did you see the mumsnet april fool about joining netmums? i fell for it totally!

ChocOrange05 · 01/04/2009 13:28

I didn't see it merry but I LOVE april fools. My rubbish attempt this year was to tell DH it was 9am when it was really 6.30am - he was about to jump out of bed when I said gotcha. My favourite one ever was my neighbours kids superglued a £1 coin to the pavement in front of our houses and sat there all day watching everyone who walked by think "ohh, a pound" and then try and pick it up - worked a treat!!

ChocOrange05 · 01/04/2009 13:36

coolkat I would second what merry says about the eating - I always feel really faint if I don't eat whilst BF (I think baby takes all the goodness and leaves you with nothing - very clever creatures we have made!) - biscuits dunked in tea are good. Do you think you could stomach that? Alternatively nuts are good snacks? Hope you feel better soon!

one word

puree

well not quite puree but bumble had some mashed potato tonight....FROM A SPOON!! After all my BLW intentions . Tried him with a teeny bit of mash tonight and he nearly bit my hand off and was squealing when the spoon came close then trying to stuff it in his mouth ...and NONE of it came back......not one sloppy saliva mixed bit. I guess he has lost the tongue thrust reflex!! On the flipside, he did get a bite of brocolli and swallowed that too before throwing the floret on the floor.

Emmanj · 01/04/2009 19:54

Evening all,

Hugs to the still poorly peeps.
chocolategal - how was work? i liked visiting mine when i went in, made them all broody though!

whats with all the daisy?!

DD has been silent in cot since 6.30pm after a v stressful 2 hours of screaming. might have a well earned glass or two of vino!

LackaDAISYcal · 01/04/2009 19:59

look at my post two below yours emmanj.

you probably missed it (lucky you ), but I have been banging on enthusiatically talking about Baby Led Weaning for weeks now....hence all the s

chocolategal · 01/04/2009 20:06

daisy! hehe, doesnt that show that hes ready for it though?

merrym, glad your DH is home, it all looked a bit scary on the news to me!

Emmanj, have just emailed you
Work was fine, it was nice seeing everyone although i think all the attention and the ridiculous heat in the ward was a bit too much for DS, he was unusually whiney! Wasnt making anybody broody by that i dont think!
Enjoy your wine!!

LackaDAISYcal · 01/04/2009 20:19

I only saw a bit of the news...was it to do with the demonstration MM?

MerryMarigold · 01/04/2009 20:24

hee hee daisy. all our babies and their mash! but well done for the brocolli floret. i was surprised to discover that baby rice cakes are not suitable before 7mths! I'm sure that's the first finger food my ds1 had, but he prob was 7mths. baby wiss had a mouthful of yoghurt today, loved it of course (who doesn't like yoghurt). still trying to hold off till 22nd April when they will be 6mths (minus 3 weeks if you're going to be strict that they were born 3wks early). I may get desperate enough to count 26 weeks!

emmanj - when is the test, when, when?

chocolategal, ha ha to ridiculous heat in ward! so true of hospitals...

MerryMarigold · 01/04/2009 20:26

yes lacks. his current project is at Royal Bank of Scotland which was prime target next to the Bank of England. They could see them coming and so everyone left the building. all a bit OTT, but he got home at 4pm so I was happy!

Emmanj · 01/04/2009 20:27

ah sorry Daisy, wrote the post, got distracted then went back to it, hence missed your explanation of ! get it now!!

will check e mail chocolategal in a sec.
