chocolategal · 27/03/2009 20:57

ceebee you should see my house! I dont have room for the jumperoo really either, everything is kind of just crammed in!! We are thinking of converting the garage into a dining room then using the dining room as playroom! Ridiculous really when DS is only 4 months old!!

New pics on profile including the jumperoo if you wanted to see it emmanJ

chocolategal · 27/03/2009 21:01

Thank you barbs they are in his memory box :O

The husbands in my version grump grump grump! LOL
DS favourite is old macdonalds farm though!

Ceebee74 · 27/03/2009 21:03

Chocolategal aww he looks so cute! We have the same playgym aswell Wait till they get older - our lounge is full of jigsaw boxes, train sets, toddler chair, other toys and so on - poor Sam doesn't get a look in!!

Barbs lol at the husbands going trump trump trump - I love that, I might do that. I am not inventive enough to veer off the tried and tested verses.

chocolategal · 27/03/2009 21:06

ceebee we have a rude version of "heads, shoulders, knees and toes that includes willies and bums!!

LackaDAISYcal · 27/03/2009 21:09

I couldn't possibly say who it was MerryM, she might not want to be outed

Just think, it won't be long until we are doing secret birthday bear!!!

and on that i had to tell my nearly 7 yo DS that there was no such thing as the birthday bear, and that it was just something I made up.....as he was about to go charging to his mates and tell them that he was asking the birthday bear for whatever the must have toy is this year . the poor thing would never have lived it down!!

LackaDAISYcal · 27/03/2009 21:15

when i do "row your boat" with DD we have a polar bear in there, and the final verse is

dock dock dock your boat
time to go to bed
If you see a teddy bear
rest your sleepy head.

MerryMarigold · 27/03/2009 21:21

awwwwww...I like that last verse lacks, very sweet.

so are you saying my SS wasn't you?! Am confused. Or that it was you! Frazzled mind. PLEASE. I won't sleep otherwise and I will be horrible to my kids all day.

Ooooh, can't wait for birthday bear! You have the best ideas.

barbareebaa · 27/03/2009 21:25

lol at 'willies and bums'

I love your birthday bear daisy - he may have to visit our house too in November - that is if you can spare him? Love your verse to row your boat too! W likes rowing along to that one on my knee!

Does anyone remember

seesaw
marjorie door
Johnny will have a new master
he will work but a penny a day
because he won't go any faster

Found myself singing this to W the other day - just appeared in my head - my mum must have sung it to me but I never really noticed the words before - odd!

barbareebaa · 27/03/2009 21:26

ooh merry - ta for email - am going to mail the lady about the massage - thanks

MerryMarigold · 27/03/2009 21:32

cool barbs, hope we can do it. i have asked a friend to come and help me so she can have a baby and so can i. she loves babies - she's young and she doesn't have any! Yeah, we sing seesaw everytime we go on a seesaw. amazing you remembered it all so well out of the blue!

we make up a lot of songs in our house all the time to well known tunes. am proud of ds1 who made up a song about going home the other day to the tune of 'swing low sweet chariot'. bless. now to try and get him into st. pauls as a chorister!

MerryMarigold · 27/03/2009 21:34

A good one for potty training is "Poo poo, sing to my poo." (to the tune of 'Lou, lou sing to my lou'. We also sing "Old MacPoo Poo had a farm"! So childish. I love it.

Emmanj · 27/03/2009 21:46

Love the potty training songs!!

chocolategal - pics r lovely, jumperoo looks fab, and loving the cute Bumbo pic!

Have decided not to do a test yet, am gunna wait for period. I know, i know...how can i bear the suspense....i dont know myself. Good advice daisy, think DH and I need to discuss it serously like you guys did, as at the moment he seems to find it rather funny...almost as if he's 'scored another goal at football' iykwim! lets see how funny he finds it if i get a BFP!!! i promise i will keep you all posted but wont know anything for at least 10 days.

right, off to watch Americal Idol on Sky plus, (yes i am very sad!)

x

LackaDAISYcal · 27/03/2009 21:48

we sing that one as well barbs...
and for the scottish contingent; ally bally bee and one that my dad used to sing to my DS1 and us when we were all babies;

"you can come and see the baby anytime you care to call
he's sitting with his mammy on his long white shawl
he looks so cute and spanky, like a dumpling in a hanky
and they're going to call him.....

My favourite for getting mine off to sleep though is Paul Simon's St Judy's Comet. He wrote it for his own son and it's just lovely.

MerryMarigold · 27/03/2009 21:57

Just looked up st. judy's comet. it's so lovely...made me quite emotional. unlike me. maybe it's the glass of wine. or that my boy is jude. i wish i could find the tune, can't find it to hear it..maybe will just go and splash out on album right now.

chocolategal · 27/03/2009 22:01

merry i just looked it up on youtube, i agree its lovely and very touching.
Thank you daisy

LackaDAISYcal · 27/03/2009 22:02

It's on his greatest hits album that's called Negotiations and Love Songs.

sheena easton singing it here but the Paul Simon version is sooo much better.

LackaDAISYcal · 27/03/2009 22:09

MP3 download from amazon

MerryMarigold · 27/03/2009 22:10

yeah, i've got the sheena easton at the mo from youtube. and some version by kenny loggins [WHO?] is also on youtube. thanks. think i need to invest in some paul simon as my simon and garfunkel is getting a bit tired despite having the entire collection apart from concert in central park!

MerryMarigold · 27/03/2009 22:12

can you play mp3 files on windows media player?

LackaDAISYcal · 27/03/2009 22:21

ermm...that would be a technical question, can't help sorry!!

kenny loggins was around in the early-mid 80's. Sang the title theme from "footloose"

LackaDAISYcal · 27/03/2009 22:22

I can ahem "lend" you a my copy if you like

MerryMarigold · 27/03/2009 22:25

PinkyMinxy · 27/03/2009 23:13

Hello everyone. Glad you had a good bday, Hana.

Poor Merry M, I knew who my secret stork was, otherwise I'd be going mad with curiosity, too.

Mimi is very smiley. she is so beautiful.

She did poop three vests today, though. I had her is sposies because we were out for the day. Big mistake!

Hope evryone has a good weekend.

LadyBuzz · 28/03/2009 09:14

Morning all,
Hope everyone is well.
Hi emmanj good luck with everything!

I sent mine to Obs

Jay loves to be sung too, Barbs we doo see saw too.

His favourite is Agadoo with dancing - DS1s influence not mine

Well DH and I are off on our 'date' today and going for a couple of drinks tonight. I'm quite looking forward to it!

Hope everyone has a fab weekend

ruthosaurus · 28/03/2009 09:25

Morning all,

Hope you are all well. I have a nappy song for you that I made up:

We like changing nappies
Nappies are okay
We like changing nappies
We do it every day
Some of them are wetties
And some of them have poo
But the nappies that we like the best
Are the ones we put on you!

We also sing Hush Little Baby to Finbo but it has very little effect apart from making him cross. But we like it and can now sing it in close harmony.

Apart from that, we make new words up to old songs:

You know my boy Finlay cries
He doesn't do it every time
It's just the cold air and surprise
Yeah yeah but he's drop dead gorgeous (Republica)

Fin much better this week - we have got himn into a routine and he has also worked out how to roll onto his side, which may have been what was making him so grumpy and sleepless - it's like he's resolved an issue and can now sleep peacefully instead of worrying about it.

What's everyone up to today? I am dithering between fun day out and sorting the house in a boring way.
