Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Emmanj · 27/03/2009 14:32

Afternoon ladies, gosh its hard to keep up with all the posts and names!!
coolkatsounds like Becca is enjoying her foods, im also thinking satrting weaning soon and its nice to read how people are getting on! i need to get a highchair - looking at mamas and pappas one as we have vouchers from hubbys work still to spend - anyone recommend?
Rosa - shame about the baby massage, thats annoying, have you tried netmums for listings of oteh rlocal groups incase tehre is any massage classes in teh mornings?

ChocOrange can you use facebook an dget grandparents to make a page- actually i think u can upload vids on facebook then share the link which tehy can access even if they're not on facebook.

hanaflower im jealous of your cleaner!!! my nicely tastefully decorated lounge is now an emporium of bright plastic and baby toys!! whats teh point of tidying up i think - it gets back to a state within hours!!!

anyway, got the inlaws coming to saty for the weekend, arriving tonight, so better do some housework or will have mothe rin law sneering! theyve only seen DD twice since she was born, and make very little effort as they live 4 hours drive away. anyway, enough moaning, have a good afternoon all!

thanks for the advice about my other 'situation' by the way!! DH says look on the bright side - if i was pg then id get another year off work....tried to explain that being at work would be easier but hey ho, you know men!!!!!!!!

x

Oblomov · 27/03/2009 15:50

Coolkat, Becca has eaten all that already ? And that wasn't a condescending comment, it was a wow, she has an appetite and good for you for being sorted, comment.
Same with ceebee, impressed you are so organised.
Max had a bit of mashed potato last night. His first ever food. I let ds1 give him a spoonfull. spat right out again.
AndI tell you, I do a good mash. The boy has no taste

coolkat · 27/03/2009 16:21

Well we tried parsnip, only 2 cubes but tears when we had finished!!

Back later, visitors arriving. X

londonboots · 27/03/2009 17:13

choc you could also try something like www.megaupload.com which is just a file transfer - they get an email giving a link where they can download the file - benefit being it can be huge (up to 2GB) so will keep the quality and once they download it will play better/faster etc.

big hugs to those having a tough time. M was quite hard work for about 4 weeks - whiny and lots of night waking but has been fantastic this week - still waking at night but not so much and i can now leave him to play on his playmat while i have a shower for example - could never do this before but he now can entertain himself! makes a huge difference and it literally happened overnight. point being, as everyone keeps saying, these stages pass.

and definitely agree getting out every day helps - i realised this yesterday as i stayed at home waiting for a parcel all day which arrived at 6.30pm ()!! I took M to the Picasso exhibition at the National Gallery earlier in the week - he stayed in the pram for the first half but got fidgety so i carried him for the second half - he loved it!! gurgling and cooing and laughing and making friends over my shoulder - i would like to think he is quite the art buff but i think it was the lights and people. so i can recommend galleries as a good place to go on a rainy day.

vbab gorgeous pics of your LOs!

ladybuzz glad to hear you and DH are working on things - hope it works out for the best.

LOL at baby massage-poo stories!

have a great weekend everyone!

MonkeyMargotsSecretStork · 27/03/2009 17:16

OI MONKEYMARGOT. DOZY WASN'T YOUR SECRET STORK. IT WAS ME. KEEP GUESSING!

Glad you like bib tho'.

londonboots · 27/03/2009 17:35

of course, have had other showers in the last 4.5 months -just before DP went to work...

barbs you probably do this already, but i find singing to M gives me another 5 or 10 mins if i really want to get something done - incey wincey spider and the wheels on the bus are particular favourites.

and on the lush dream cream...we have finished our 'trial' and i think we will go back to burt's bees - didn't really help M's dry skin much. unless anyone can suggest something else? has anyone tried the neal's yard stuff?

ok, going now...

Ceebee74 · 27/03/2009 17:44

Londonboots Incy wincy spider and Wheels on the Bus are Sam's faves too - although I try not to do it when DS1 is around as he thinks it is just a cue to grab Sam's hands and start waving them around Sam also loves Wind the bobbin aswell! I actually read him some books today and he really enjoyed that (normally he just listens to Ds1's choice - i.e. Thomas ones!)

Sam has been in a top mood today and I have got SO much done as he has had 2 2-hour naps today (maybe why he is in such a good mood?)

Emmanj · 27/03/2009 18:48

I love it when they have long daytime naps ceebee, you can get so much done....sadly Lois doesnt really do this anymore - prefering to catnap in the afternoons an dthen scream from over tiredess! I have tried getting her to sleep in the daytime but she just wont unless i sit and rock her, or unless we r out in the pram!!

Im finding she had become very clingy to me all of a sudden, and gets upset when im not around. it took me by surprise really as she always used to go to anyone, im hoping this is a normal stage - what do others find?

Gallery idea sounds cool londonboots, nice to have somewhere different to go during the day.

Just put Lois to bed very tightly swaddled (which she used to hate) but im hoping it will stop her wakig herself up from flinging around the cot!

In laws arriving in 3 hours - time to have a quick tidy up!

Has anyone on here got a Jumperoo? what do you think of them? friends got one and Lois loves it but it seems alot of money to spend?

juanitad · 27/03/2009 19:04

Emmanj I think there are a few of us on here with jumperoos - I would definitely recommend it. P is now at the stage where he wants to stand up all the time so he is well happy when I put him in the jumperoo. If he's in the right mood, he'll happily bounce around for 20-30 mins, which means I can get stuff done - like make and eat some lunch!! Lunch was a bit haphazard before I got the jumperoo, but now I actually sit and eat at the table!!

Daisy, stay and play was quiet today, probably cos of the new booking system. I reckon it might actually put people off going. If you want to get booked on for next week or 17th (it's not open 10th), give them a ring - I think there were still some places left. I am also going to the Alwoodley stay and play on Wed, so will let you know what that's like.

Has anyone else's LO got very grubby ears? I'm always staring down them when I'm feeding him and they are filthy!! I know you're not supposed to use cotton buds down the earhole bit, so anyone got any good suggestions?

LackaDAISYcal · 27/03/2009 19:27

bumble loves horsey horsey. He was feeding today and we had ceebeebies on for DD. the song was on Mr Tumble and he pulled off (painfully) so he could crane his neck round to see the telly

LackaDAISYcal · 27/03/2009 19:36

hi juanita. I might join you at Alwoodley on Wednesday. I was going to just turn up this morning pleading ignorance (they have my details, you'd think they would inform people if they haven't seen them) but by the time I got DD organised it was too late. Were any pf the childminders there? I'm going to go and see the organiser next week and express my annoyance that the childminders use the stay and play when they have two groups of their own on a Mon and Tues. If they bring three kids with them, that's two mums who miss out, and the children's centres were set up for children and their carers, not to provide cheap entertainment for and support what is essentially a commercial enterprise.

Ooooops ranty. I have a wee bee in my bonnet about it

emmanj, it sounds like your DH is OK about another baby. At least it gets your family over and done with really quickly, and two that close in age are bound to be really good playmates....but fingers crossed for you, whatever way you want it to fall!!

Emmanj · 27/03/2009 19:50

Thanks Daisy, DH is cool about it and says not to think about it until period comes/not comes! he is v laid back and i wish i could be like him sometimes, im such a stresser!
Im not sure how i feel about it tbh, but will just wait and see.

I totally know what u mean about the childminders at the childrens centres, have teh same prob round here where i live. I was nodding in agreement to your rant!

DD hasnt stirred since i swaddled her at 6.45pm, fingers crossed for a good night!

londonboots · 27/03/2009 19:56

emmanj another jumperoo fan here - M loves it! DP made him a little platform though as he can't reach the floor yet (out of foam and cardboard from the box). he only lasted a few minutes the first few times - a bit too much stimulation I think - and very unsure on his feet. But as juanitad's LO, will now happily go for 20-30 mins and just loves it. will post some pics on my profile.

Emmanj · 27/03/2009 20:08

thanks londonboots will look for the jumperoo pics, i think im convinced....got my eye on a few on e bay!

Thank god its nearly the weekend!

MonkeyMargot · 27/03/2009 20:10

emmanJ sorry forgot to say Hi-De-Hi to you yesterday - are you going to do a preg. test? I couldn't possibly wait til period comes! Please do a test - we need to know!!

Lacks I am planning on taking laptop to France, and we have a wireless network v.close to our holiday home (by the pool!) so will certainly endeavour to play scrabble every day. I asked my DH if he wanted to take the scrabble board with us to France, but he just isn't interested . Only cause I'll thrash him though
CriCri hope you have fab time in the Smoke with your ex-colleagues. Lucky you!

To my SecretStork - whoever you are - i loved the bib and finger food book! I feel like a rude fool now, as I thanked Dozy in person at London meet-up....hmm. I'm confused. Who could it be?? Please reveal yourself!

Choc sadly Plum didn't make it 3 in a row - but I'll forgive her anyhow. She woke for a 2:30am feed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for tonight. I feel she just isn't eating enough at the moment though, she's far too interested in other stuff now. Nosy parker.
Went to Gymboree today - was sceptical beforehand, but Plum and I both thoroughly enjoyed it. She was pooped after and slept like a ...baby!
Obs glad your DH is helping out - good on him. My DH has started cooking about 3 times a week. I love it. Don't know why I didn't let him before!
My Dad stayed over last night - he now stays at least once mid-week as he has a new job based in London and he lives in Midlands. So it's super cool as my Dad gets to see his favourite grandaughter, and DH cooks so as to impress my Dad, so i get a rest! Result all round.
hana glad u enjoyed Young Vic too. Did you spot Princess Eugenie?

Hope everyone has a good night - and a great weekend. Going to watch the boat race on Sunday with the Plum. Try and fix her up with some nice Oxbridge rower. x

LackaDAISYcal · 27/03/2009 20:20

shall we have a secret stork outing?

I know who sent mine and have thanked her already, the blanket goes to bed with him every night and the scorpio vest is in my keepsake drawer . I sent mine to toolly, who we haven't seen on here for ages.

LackaDAISYcal · 27/03/2009 20:25

emmandj, when we were in the same situation I started testing from seven days after I ovulated and got a very very faint BFP on day 10 and another on day 11 and 12 and 13. By day 14 we had decided it was a definate thing.. One thing I will say though; by the time I got the BF DH and I had talked it every way up and so it wasn't a shock when it came and I think we would have been disappointed if it had been negative, especially as i'd spent a small fortune on tests!!

Now wasn't someone just talking about small age gaps and how statistically one of us would be making an announcement soonish?

MerryMarigold · 27/03/2009 20:35

hmmmm...monkeym, I fixed myself up with an ex-Oxford rower. Big mistake.

juanitad · 27/03/2009 20:39

lacks, don't think any of the childminders were there - there are 2 ladies that I know are childminders and they weren't there anyway. 2 of the ladies from baby corner had been to Alwoodley last Weds and said it's nowhere near as good as Carr Manor, but they are supposed to be getting more toys soon and will be creating a baby corner as well (there isn't one now). Still, getting out of the house is the main thing! I didn't go anywhere yesterday and both P and I were significantly more grumpy than normal so I have decided I need to do something every day otherwise I'll drive myself mad!!

chocolategal · 27/03/2009 20:44

evening ladies :0

Have had a busy day here, went for lunch with my Dad then walk around local garden centre then had friends over in afternoon.

My DS has gone from having 3 naps a day and one of them was always 2hours ish to only having 2 or 3 20-30 minute ones! I hope this means that he will be more tired at night and no more 4.30am starts to the day.

I also have a jumperoo i think DS is still a bit little for it but he does show lots of interest for the short spells he manages in it.

Hi emmanJ goodluck for the result you want re pg testing! eeeek!!

ceebee already knows i was her SS! If mine wants to 'out' herself please do. I got a very cute little PJ set. When we received our pressies in Oct i thought it looked huge! Now looking at them it looks teeny tiny, our babies are growing so quickly! Anyway thankyou to my SS!

MerryMarigold · 27/03/2009 20:45

lacks. I need to know my secret stork for my sanity. I always thought it was you or cricri. Coming down on cricri after something she mentioned the other day!

I mentioned at New Year about who would get pregnant this year. Quite a few wanted to...

MonkeyMargot · 27/03/2009 20:45

Ok - I was yorky's SS but haven't seen her here for ages!

Ceebee74 · 27/03/2009 20:46

Daisy glad Bumble likes the blanket

It was me talking about the likelihood that one of us would get pg soon (not me obviously ) - Emmanj I really hope you get the result you want (whatever that is). If it helps, part of me wishes we had had Sam 12 months earlier when DS1 would have been 15 months - I think it would have been much easier to manage than the 2.4 year age gap we have now.

The Jumperoo sounds fab but we have absolutely no room for anything like that - I guess that is the difference between a PFB and a SNC

MM ooh enjoy the boat race - rowers do have the best bodies

MerryMarigold · 27/03/2009 20:47

OK, Daisy, were you my SS. If not, it was def cricri.

barbareebaa · 27/03/2009 20:56

hello!
Chocgal I was your secret stork - so glad you liked the pjs

Drswife was mine - she outed herself a while ago - where is she these days?

Hope vbab is enjoying her well earned rest in Whitby - me and dh used to take our van and camp near there - I do miss it so.

I sing 'wheels on the bus' too - do you make up verses? I have husbands that trump trump trump Doesn't always do the trick - wonder what the neighbours think of the slightly hysterical woman next door singing about flatulating fathers...
