Barbs, we went through a phase of 2 weeks of co-sleeping. I slept on my side with the duvet between my legs so it wouldn't ride up over DS and he lay next to me in grobag like you are doing. It certainly helped me get more sleep and it was only for a couple weeks. Hopefully you won't need to do it for long either but while you do try not to feel guilty about it.

LackaDAISYcal · 26/03/2009 21:00

barbs, I have bumble on top of the duvet and me under it, and I make sure my arm is around the top of his head so he can't work up towards the pillow. I was worried about rolling over in my sleep and catapulting him off the bed but it hasn't happened so far!! He should go back in the sidecar cot, but I usually fall back asleep while he is still feeding.

enjoy the new car obs.

baby massage will be good for you barbs, as it's something you can practise at home to get W more settled.

LackaDAISYcal · 26/03/2009 21:02

and I'm glad minirosa has nothing seriously wrong with her. Fingers crossed she gains weight this week and is back to normal (same for your boob) soon.

Just a thought rosa, oversupply can cause problems with green poo and cause milk blisters? Maybe try some block feeding?

Dozymare · 26/03/2009 21:12

blimey daisy what a day....I avoid Ikea at all costs with the kids.........you are a saint for that!

I am also loving the minirosa farts!! She must be a soul sista to my tiger who also pumps them out like a good 'un!!!

obs glad you haven't got PND. You definately sound a lot better today, more upbeat

For all of you feeling down, please keep speaking, please talk to a professional if you think it will help. I don't know anything really about PND but keep reminding yourselves, this will pass

Have a lovely evening, I am off to bed!

Emmanj · 26/03/2009 21:37

Hi all, im so sorry to hi-jack this thread but didnt know where else to post?! i was originally in this group during pregnancy but have only just re-found the joys of mums net!!
anyway, lets get to the point - me and DP had sex for first time sice DD was born 4 months ago, and in the heat of the moment we werent 'careful' of you know what i mean....anyway, im now totally paranoid that baby number 2 could have been conceived, which would be v stressful as ive only just recovered form the whole pregnacy/birth from November. im driving myself mad with worry now. i tried ot work out if i would have ovulated, we did the deed on approx day 10 of cycle...but ive now read u can be super fertile post birth - what have i done?????????!!!!

dozy I do have one bipi bib, courtesy of secret stork (I know it was you!!) Plum actually sported it today and looked jolly cute too! I'm going to buy a bunch of them. Look fab!

Barbs you are feeling how all of us have felt at some point. You should definitely get out and do something enjoyable every day if you can, which in the big smoke is always poss. But chatting to other peeps in same boat certainly helps make you realise, we all have the same probs.

LOL at minirosa farts.
At baby massage last week, the HV was explaining how to gently unwork their bowels by pressing on tummies etc. Plum decides now is a good time to let rip and does a massive poop everywhere. Nice!

rutho welcome back and hope you're feeling better.

Lacks what a day. I hate IKEA with a vengeance. Apart from the hotdogs

Saw TheYoungVictoria today at baby cinema - - surprisingly good.

P.S. Plum slept through again last night - hoorah! Will she make it 3 in a row?

Pps. The cake is yum - Delia's Winter Collection. I'm a big Delia fan. Always works!

LackaDAISYcal · 26/03/2009 21:47

Hi emmandj . not hijacking at all and welcome back to the November fold.

Oh, you poor thing. I have been there, done that had the worry and am now wiping up the sick . But....you don't want to hear that

Try not to panic. Are you BFing? Have you had a period yet? I always know when I'm OVing as it all gets a bit mucousy down below. DH and I did a similar thing and I OV'd three days later. Is it too late to have the MAP? Or I think the coil can be used as emergency contraception as well.

Emmanj · 26/03/2009 21:55

Thanks Daisy, i will try nto to panic - yes its too late for the MOP. Im not breast feeding. I used to know when i was ovulating as like u say, its a bit mucusy, but to be honest it seems like its always like that since giving birth?!
Thanks for the advice! I will just have ot wait and see i suppose!!!!
Your post made me laugh....mopping up the sick!!?!

vbab78 · 26/03/2009 22:27

Hi ladies. Quick post as been out for meal with mum and sis AND WINE! hick, hick. Only kidding but just exhausted and not used to having ME time especially away from home. Alyssa been more shouty and smiley than her usual which is a lot. But been vomiting cottage cheese type stuff LOADS all day but does seem happy enough. Had good day with DS which included him painting and going to the local park and messing around on swings and so on while Alyssa was asleep. Glad to notice ruth back on. Will TRY to catch up tomorrow in between getting stuff ready for us going to Whitby for the night, all kids stuff for mum's, meadowhall, electrician coming to sort NO EARTH in kitchen and gardener to sort our massive weed garden. PHEW. Night, night.

barbareebaa · 27/03/2009 07:08

Good morning
To the co-sleeping ladies -
W went down in his cot 'til about 10.30 then we co-slept but I have questions...

What position do you lie in in relation to your baby? I am doing something wrong as have lower back pain - think from 'hovering' at a strange angle, not at all relaxed. Do you use pillows? Do they ned to be flatish?

We slept really well but need to tweak! Lovely to wake up to a cheeky face

Good luck emmanj

Feeling at monkeym life but in a nice way - wow! Cinema, cake, AND a sleeping baby Fabulous!

Pinkglow · 27/03/2009 08:06

hanaflower totally agree about the getting out everyday. I really try to make sure I do this otherwise I find the day drags and Henry gets grumpy.

barbareebaa I found co-sleeping really painful on my hips. I loved waking up with him these but I would have loved to have turned over like I normally do and for this reason I was quite glad he took to his cot. I would get him to sleep with my hand on him and my face pressed up to his then when he fell asleep I would try to move away (this is asuming I woulndt have fallen asleep myself) I cant give any advise on co-sleeping though as I ditn read any of the advice at the time I did it (but it was only for 2 weeks)

cricri · 27/03/2009 08:49

Morning all, hope you all had quiet nights
Barbs Lots of advice on co-sleeping arrangements under the sleeping topic. I think you'll end up finding a position that feels relatively comfortable for you after a few nights. I have E on the outside edge of the bed and lie on my side with my arm above her head to stop her moving up towards the pillows, as Daisy described. But I often have a sore shoulder as a result. I also end up with sore hips and back which is due to lying in one position for the entire night. I don't think there's a solution to that unfortunately. E also ends up pushing me right across the bed during the night so she's lying almost across the mattress A useful tip I gleaned from one of the co-sleeping threads was to tuck a tightly rolled-up blanket under the fitted sheet at the edge of the bed to stop baby from rolling out. It makes a little ridge and there's no way they can get under it. My mind is at rest now when I get up before her to have a shower in the mornings. Even if she were to roll then she wouldn't fall out of the bed.
Hope you all have a good day - I'm escaping to London for a few hours to meet up with some former colleagues who are being made redundant and are having leaving drinks today. Will be nice to catch up with them and have a few hours on my own

Oblomov · 27/03/2009 10:20

Morning All. Dh came home from work in his lunchtime and did some ironing and hovering, in order to help me. Sweetie. So house clean, and curry made, and it is only 10 o'clock. Just got back from gym, looking at lists of classes, deciding which one to do.
By the way, my car is not brand new, just new to me. Have already cleaned it, filled it with parking money and sweeties = essentials
Sympathy to emmaj. Yes, we have done that.
Lucky cricri going for drinkies, did someone say rutho was on her way round with the drinks trolley - ha ha. Love idea, of rutho dressed up as air stewardess, serving all us ladies who are struggling, with a stiff drink. Funny image

aargh...just did a long post and then lost it!!

brief resume...

lol at obs DH. when I said have you thought of a cleaner, I didn't quite mean your DH in a fluffy apron

no problems on positions when co-sleeping as bumble and I still have bed to ourselves so can spread ourselves out, but I'm beginning to think my DH has gone off me!

another disturbed night

bumble in 6-9mo clothes

this morning, he was scared of me with my hair wrapped in a towel, first refusing to look at me, and then howling at me . He has also started crying when I leave the room. I thought he was a bit young for that, but no.

DD refusing all nappies and pants this morning so i let her run around half naked; she then weed on the carpet and then brought me a nappy.

coolkat · 27/03/2009 12:27

Morning ladies

Been reading but forgot who said what so here goes..!!!

Ruth nice to see you, your a bit slow with the old drinks trolley, mines a glass bottle of Rose please.

Barbs sorry to hear of your sleep and general wnating to be held troubles, don't have any good advice that hasn't been said - sorry. It will pass though.

Monkey, wow France for 2 months, that's some packing and preparing you will have to do! Make sure you look us all up again when you return. X

Lacks, wow you sure do a lot in a day, I have started going to a few groups now but the trouble is the weeks are flying by as by the time the morning goes its soon the school run time again

Hana, how is the Bee, have you used it much? How I would love a cleaner but can not afford it.

Ladybuzz glad you are finding your own way and nice to see you are dating DH again. Sometimes we don't know what we have got until its gone

Obs, wow your DH sounds like a diamond. My DH has a list of jobs and all he has managed to do this week is put 3 boxes in the loft, would not mind but he has been here for 3 days, he is back at work tomorrow.

Vbab have a nice night away. X

Those bibi's look fab.

I know we all do things a little different and hope I can share this with you without being judged too heavily. As I said I tried Becca with Baby rice last week, just two ice cubes of breast milk mixed with the powder, well she loved it, swallowed fine and cried when it was gone. Our nights also improved as we had been having some shockers. This week I prepared Sweet Potato, carrot, Broccili, Parsnip. I tried her on 2 cubes of sweet potato one day and 2 cubes of carrot another and she loved it! We are trying parsnip today. So I suppose we are starting weaning! She is still being BF every 3 hours though in the day

Me and DH finally came to an agreement on god parents, it was getting messy!

As with regards to the talk about PND, I had it very bad with DD1 but also think I was depressed before I had her. Sometimes I think us Ladies try and do too much and we should not put so much pressure on ourselves. [happy]

ChocOrange05 · 27/03/2009 12:38

Hello all

Daisy is this the next "phase" we've got to look forward to?? Just when I thought the baby stage would be over with soon and everything would be easy - I'm still the eternal optimist!!

emmanj welcome back - good luck with the accident however you want it to pan out. DH gets paranoid I'm PG all the time - he told me before M was born: "we can have one accident (M) but NOT two" - hear hear!! Oh, and welcome back ruth - we've missed your funny posts!!

Monkey v jealous of Plum sleeping - did she make it 3 in a row? I have decided my little man just wants to be Mr Inconsistent - we sometimes get 11-7 (we still do feed at 10pm) and othertimes he wants a feed at 2/3/4/5am. So on the nights he does sleep till 7 I wake up at 6 thinking oh my god is he ok - typical!!!

I am not allowed to buy anything else - my eBay rating has gone up from 60 pre-M to 104. I am loving my new nappy selection though - I highly recommend reusables as its yet another cute thing to buy.

M and I have both had colds the last few days but I think we are getting better - he is still a happy boy just v snotty - and he doesn't appreciate me sticking my fingers in to yank the bogeys out, but its so satisfying!!

Ceebee74 · 27/03/2009 12:57

Rutho I will have a large dry white wine please

Coolkat wow, Becca sounds like she has got some appetite on her - I may be talking out of my backside here but I believe that some babies just 'get' solids and others (like DS1) do not! I have so far pureed and frozen some leftover apples and I am going to go and do some carrots in a mo - not that I intend to wean Sam for another 8 weeks but I like to be prepared

daisy lol at bumble not liking you with your towel wrapped round your head - Sam looks at me very quizzically when I do that! I clearly remember DS1, probably at about 3 months, screaming when I came back from the hairdressers with straight hair

Hi to everyone else - I wish the wind would die down as it is lovely and sunny but so cold with that wind!

Just been to Sainsburys to do the weekly shop - probably my least favourite task in the whole world but at least Sam didn't cry at all whilst we were there - phew!

Rosa · 27/03/2009 13:21

MInes a large Guiness ( good for the milk ???)
Minirosa did 10.30 - 7 am so I am dream feeding at 10 ish from now on ...Something positive comes out of having a milk blister then !! dd1 decided to do a mini throw up at 5 am and then the rest at 7 so I was up at 5 anyway. It seems like a bug as 4 were off at nursery today with the same thing.
I ordered some of those bandana bibs from e bay as they post over here...Daisy you should get commission
I called to go and do baby massage and they do the class in the afternoon so I can't go as I can only do mornings so am a bit miffed.I so want to do something .
Daisy I read about the green poo but hers was really liquid and she was squitting every hour at times.I have been trying to EBM again in the mornings and not getting hardly any and also checking that after each feed boob is empty - it is so I am just shoving her on in the hope that I produce enough. Have to weigh her next week.

ChocOrange05 · 27/03/2009 13:51

Does anyone know of a website where you can upload videos but only let certain people see them? I want to send the grandparents a video of M. Thanks!

OP posts:
LackaDAISYcal · 27/03/2009 14:31

Rosa, expressing isn't a guide of how much you are producing, so don't be too despondent if you can't express much, and just remember, the more you feed the more you will produce.

I missed the bit about Monkey disappearing to France for two months. Am very , and what about scrabble . Will you still be able to get online???
