We're all just as when you're our age you'll be the fab, glam, young mother at your teenagers' speech days!

I have had night sweats this time... didn't with dd- maybe because I didn't get any sleep with her

Thankfully we didn't need a double- dd walks now. We have a Hauck infinity which I love but it is a bit too big, for the car and the house! ds is v comfy in it though!

heron22 · 12/03/2009 09:43

hi Dog, congrats on your wedding!!

heron22 · 12/03/2009 09:44

tinkislittlemissshopping · 12/03/2009 12:45

miss j - the older generation were brought up differently i guess and it was probably a no no then. they didnt have to say it to you though why couldnt they have moved away from you instead of telling you to move honestly

tinkislittlemissshopping · 12/03/2009 12:47

tinkislittlemissshopping · 12/03/2009 12:48

having a quiet day today just popped out with dds and had a look in homebase, brantano and next

hkz · 12/03/2009 13:05

I feel old today, I have a hangover from drinking about 3 glasses of red wine and my body actually aches! Had the best birthday ever, had an amazing meal at a fab french restaurant and then.... DP asked me to marry him! So am over the moon and all loved up, hungover and happy today...all the talk of rings and weddings on here yesterday must have been an omen!

Dog- Am suffering form the night sweats too, but not every night and can't work out what triggers them. They are really random and horrible! Also I have the sports phi and teds and to be honest it's a pita, its heavy, hard to get up and down steps and not that great to steer. I've ended up sing the good 'ol maclaren and a sling most of the time so far.

DS had another night of waking every two hours or so for a feed, am exhausted now! He seems really windy and uncomfortable at night, so am trying massaging... I need some sleep.[tired, hungover, large bags under eyes emoticon]

Spink · 12/03/2009 13:21

Woohoo hkz congratulations! and dog very exciting too!! we have two lovely brides-to-be hurrah! god I love weddings. I hope you keep us all up to date with all the minutae of planning... I can then live vicariously through you
I got married 3 years ago, got pg with ds on honeymoon, so getting wed was a HUGE turning point in my life!!
Talking of turning points, we put our flat (back) on the market yesterday. blimey trying to keep it tidy for viewings will be a challenge. I'm trying to convince dh we should have a cleaner for a couple of hours a week until it sells, just so at least it won't smell.. how much does a cleaner cost, anyhow?

moosemama · 12/03/2009 13:25

Thanks Tink saw those costumes online, they are sold out online but did think I might have to despatch DH to the local (not so local at all really) Asda to see if they have any left tonight. Feeling far too poorly to start stitching bandages on tshirts.

Fortunately DD1 just wants to wear his clothes backwards all day, so thats an easy one.

Would have helped if they'd given us more notice - flippin school!

DD did her second 7 hour sleeping stint last night. Unfortunately I was up for several hours in the middle of the night as I couldn't breathe and had all sorts of other nasty coldy symptoms including my skin stinging all over.

rrrayray · 12/03/2009 13:26

missJ sorry to hear about BF incident. Have to say although i have had a few looks, nobody has ever dared to say anything. Well done you for standing up for yourslef... although i think i would have (shame on me) lost my rag rather more! You sound like you remained very calm. The thing i find bizare about those with problems with it is that would they prefer a Screaming baby? at least you can LOOK elsewhere if it REALLY offends you, you can't CLOSE your ears! Silly people.

Heron As long as he is having wet nappies as per usual, i wouldn't really worry as long as he is eating something( i know easier said than done!)

HKZ CONGRATULATIONS Mrs to be! I assume you said yes??? Fantastic!! I'm just planning our wedding (We have been engaged since Christmas day 2007) its so exciting! Booked Harpist and photographer today!

Dog... i think i might win on the Youngest Mummy of the thread. i am 22!! Although 23 in April!! I too don't feel like a exceptionally Young mother, i have always had an head older for my years, and am very fourtunate to be in the financial situation that when i finished university in the summer we had the choice of me establishing my career, or putting it on hold while we start our little family! As you can guess, family won! Probarly a good thing too, my Degree is in real estate, and property isn't really the market to be looking for a job in right now!!

rrrayray · 12/03/2009 13:31

spink OH did the nicest thing a few week before i gave birth and said he wanted to relieve the stress of keeping the house clean when Esme is little. So sweet. i still clean, and tidy lots (i swear i'm addicted) but we have a cleaner for 2 hours a week who cleans the kitchen and all the bathrooms. So at least they are clean. She costs £7.50 an hour- its a national company called Time for you.

Moose Sorry your feeling so rough, i've had a stinking cold and a constant head ache. but the stinging sounds horrid! Get well soon! xx

Spink · 12/03/2009 13:39

ooh ray, yay, we have 3 brides to be!! (anyone else?) have you got a dress yet?

missj I thought you responded really well to the oldies, you were polite but stuck to your guns, I would've just gone red and muttered obscenities under my breath... rubbish

Spink · 12/03/2009 13:40

thanks ray sounds reasonable.. I might look them up on the internet and leave it on for dh to see!

rrrayray · 12/03/2009 13:49

spink I know, MissJ should be VERY proud of herself, i get the feeling most of us would have made a right Scene and total tits of ourselves telling them where to get off! :-) I shall keep you in mind miss j if anyone says anything to me - hopefully i'll keep Calm!!!

No, haven't got dress yet, going to go dress shopping with my mum when she breaks up from school in the summer (Shes a teacher) and hopefully figure will be as i want it by then!! That said, i'm already 99.9% sure what dress i want, provided it suits me.

Brielle Wedding Dress

So far i have booked/sorted;

Venue Harpist (Prior and during ceremony & During drinks/Canapes on the lawn)
PhotographerMobile Creche ( There will be 3 children under 3, so i wanted to have childcare. We're having a mini ball pit and other things in one corner of the marquee. I want Esme to have the BEST day, but i didnt want either set of grandparents to have to look after her all day & not enjoy their children getting married! )

It so exciting!!! We are trying to decide on a honeymoon destination. We are going to go for one week (my parents will have Esme) as there is NO way i'll be able to leave her for longer than that.

Oh, i forgot to say, our wedding is NEXT june as i didn't want to put any pressure on myself to loose bubba weight for this summer. That said, i'm back in pre preg jeans (allbeit a bit of a squeeze) without any exercise- Thats breastfeeding for you. Didn't believe it until it happened. Although i'm over a stone heavier than usual, but think that may well be mostly boobs!!

missjackson · 12/03/2009 13:53

Hkz how lovely, did he get down on one knee? I love proposal stories!

Thanks for support re the anti-BF oldies yesterday - I was still fuming in the middle of the night!

Re: cleaners - I was really worried about doing without my cleaner when I moved up from London, but OH has proved to be surprisingly good (we didn't live together before we got married - just circumstances, not some old-fashioned belief - that's obvious though as I was 32 weeks pg when we got married!). OH does the bathroom really quickly when he has a bath, does all the hoovering with Nye in a sling, and I do the rest when I get a moment and find it weirdly therapeutic!

ray and dog you do sound a whole lot more grown-up and mature than I did ten years ago! The funny thing is, when people meet me they always assume I am much younger than I am, which I know should be really nice, and of course it is - but also I sometimes feel like they are not taking me as seriously as they would if they knew I was older... if you know what I mean. It was often a problem at work when people would assume I was a lot more junior than I was, and I took to making an off-hand remark about how old I was, just so they would get the picture!

Would love to be a young Mum though!

Seem to have rambled on....

MM hope you are feeling better
night sweats I get them too sometimes - have to sleep with the window open!

LenniEd · 12/03/2009 16:00

Wow Ray that is an absolutely stunning dress! With your great figure I don't think you could fail to suit it either.

I'd like a cleaner too Spink - would like my kitchen/bathrooms done each week really thoroughly. Would be lovely. Not sure they are easy to come by round here though - so many elderly people in big old houses that they are in hot demand. Although if it's £7.50 an hour down south then perhaps it might not be as expensive as I thought.

Also getting night sweats occasionally... was getting them every night for a long time after the birth. Find sleeping with no socks on helps and a warm drink plus plenty of water before bed and sipping my way through another pint during the night.

Had mine and DS's 6wk checks today (at 9 weeks ) and all ok except my joints are inflammed (I have arthritis) so got to see my rheumatologist and DS has an umbilical hernia, but apparently they are very common and probably will go without any treatment. GP wanted me to have a mirena coil or implant - left it open for now but think I might go with the implant, don't fancy having a coil fitted. DS now 13lb 12oz bless him, he's a guzzler!

tinkislittlemissshopping · 12/03/2009 17:35

wow congrats hkz that is great news restaurant sounds lovely 2

rray that dress is stunning

mm - good luck with getting an outfit sorry to hear that you r feeling poorly

lenni - i had implant fitted on monday. it is abit uncomfortable when they fit it then had to have a bandage on after for 24hrs it was very tite so couldnt move my arm much to do things. just have a plaster on it now which has to stay on for five days only have to have it on till tom
it is meant to be one of the most reliable methods it lasts for 3 years.

moosemama · 12/03/2009 17:55

Congratulations hkz. ray beautiful dress.

DS2 came out of school today and announced he is going to wear his pyjamas tomorrow "like all my friends"! I'd just arranged for my stepdad to drop into Asda on his way home from London tonight and see if they had any Mr Bump costumes left! Ah well, at least the stress is off me now.

hkz · 12/03/2009 18:05

Spink-Good luck with the flat selling. Would love a cleaner, we used to have one, but have cut back while I am on maternity leave, the going rate in London seems to be £8 p.h. DP is doing a pretty sterling job of hovering and mopping whilst I am being completely lazy and just blitzing the bathroom every now and then.

ray- Gorgeous dress ray!

Haven't even thought about where or when yet. But looking forward to a bit of dress shopping!

MissJ- It was pretty romantic. We had finished our meal and were just on the coffee when DS started looking a bit nervous. He got out a little box and then started rambling completely and in amoungst the rambling asked me to marry him. He was rambling so much that he had to double check that he'd just asked me. I said yes straight away and we both had tears streaming down our cheeks, which is very unlike DP.

Moose- Hope you feel better. Hope the costume hunting goes well. Mr.Bump is my favourite!

hkz · 12/03/2009 18:08

Elkie- Yep, it was the Hackney City farm, just off bethnal green road. Its pretty small but has a very good cafe and does great fry ups. Where is the Kentish Town one? I might give that a go at some point as we are on the silverlink line so Kentish town is easy to get to.
