LaTrucha · 26/02/2009 20:51

Sorry - I thought I'd caught up but I missed some, esp poor little Edward. I hope you get some sleep he's ok tonight.

Simpson - I know that feeling!

I'm glad it's not just me about the presents. She will notice, especially when she gets to school age.

Though I haven't made it up with DH he has promised to make sure all goes well in the future. Apparently, he had told them not to send presents. For him and I, I don't mind, but Sabela??????????????????

madmouse · 26/02/2009 20:56

oh poor edward and martha. tell her to get better on time Lily

LaT do try to patch things up with dh, long distance festering is not good

LaTrucha · 26/02/2009 21:02

I've been hanging around online hoping for an email bu tno joy. Have sent one to him but the library he is working in at the moment is closed now, so I guess it'll be tomorrow. I think it will be ok though.

Lilyloo · 26/02/2009 21:02

LaT sorry things are not good but agree with MM its prob easire to fester as he isnt around.

Gingeme hope Edward better soon too

MM i know hope she better by tom i really do. If it was one of the others i could leave them with dp but cant really come to meetup without M !

OP posts:
simpson · 26/02/2009 21:49

Lilyloo - hope M ok by sat

My mum always says a temp is a good thing as the body is fighting the infection...

LaT - am sure things with DH will be fine. I know what you mean about the present thing though. DH's family drive me up the wall the way they blatantly favour DS. Grrr. At least DD not old enough to understand and they are far away enough to explain it when she does iyswim...

Gingeme · 26/02/2009 22:00

Thankyou for your get well wishes. I shall pass them on to him
Right off to bed. Hope its a quiet one.
Night all xx

JustKeepSwimming · 27/02/2009 08:38

How was everyone's night?

mine was good finally!

asleep before 10, woken at 5.58 (near enough to 6 for a smiley face)
i know i woke at least once in the night but refused to look at the clock.
was starting to enter zombie state, hopefully will get more sleep over the weekend too.

sorry missed out lots, may try and catch up properly later...

Fragolina · 27/02/2009 09:17

Morning all,

How are Edward and Martha doing today?

I am also feeling really broody In spite of recalling in technicolour detail just how exhausting it can be in the first few weeks. Reminds me, how's your friend LaT? I think I will definitely try and take advantage of the full year's mat leave the next time.

Dh is now muttering about one child being enough, and he wanted six before we had T!! I've told him he has no choice, he'd convinced me to have loads of children, and now its tough, he'll have to live with it [grin}. In reality, I know I would def like another one, then we'll see....don't know if I can picture having more than 4 though.

Anyone apart from Lucky trying for another baby? I can't remember now. I had to have an MMR vaccine last week, as when I was pg they noticed I had no rubella antibodies, and then no-one ever followed that up, except I happened to remember when thinking about another lo. So now we have to wait a min of 4 months before trying.

LaT - so funny your DH told his family not to buy presents! I too am in the same boat re DH has never bought anything for T (except food ), and in fact asks me what she should wear when he's supposed to dress her - not rocket science, is it?! Although, he is terribly spoiled as I do all his clothes/toiletries shopping for him.....otherwise he would buy himself those teatowel shirts you mentioned mixedmama!! Also I can sypathise with his shopping phobia as his mum used to drag him around the shops as a child, and this is the woman who I went to the supermarket to get a 'couple of thing' with and was in there for THREE hours. When we eventually got to the till, she had forgotten something and had to go back for it!

Simpson and LaT - the whinging is even worse than the clinging I think. Sometimes I carry T around until I forget she is not an extension of my body, but I cannot ignore that high pitched siren like wailing.

Lilyloo - how is DS doing? Have not got more suggestions, but looks like you got lots of ideas from your thread.

Filly - five days child free - whooo hooo! And JKS, am soooo jealous of your planned trip to Bermuda.

have sent T off to cm this morning, and I'll be going to the dr's about this never ending cold/throat thing, hoping for yet more antibiotics. One of the other children at the CMs is off with chicken pox, and a set of twins are off because of nits. Have I told you that nits are my phobia? Never seen them, never had them, but sooo freaked out by them. DD's hair has been smeared with almond oil (I heard they don't like oily hair), and its tied in bunches (someone mentioned something about braided hair not being attractive to nits, but T's hair too short, so that's the closest option). Am I paranoid or what? Although yesterday she was giving the twins loads of cheek to cheek cuddles. eeek. I know its very common and no big deal, but I'm just funny about it!

LaTrucha · 27/02/2009 10:22

~How are MArtha and Edward today? Hope you had good nights and smiley babies this morning.

Glad you finally had a good one JKS. We did here too.

Fragolina - does T have a lot of hair? I was told that most younger children don't have enough hair in order to be attractive to nits. Are you scared of other creepy crawlies? We had a cat in the house once and I was so paranoid about fleas. They bit me but not her. REdheads have very thin skin, so we are more attractive to bitey things. I never thought I'd be happy about that!

Well - all patched up here. DH is a big old burly bloke but he is a very sensitive flower too. He thought I hated his parents! WE get on very well, btw and exchange endearments frequently - with my PILs that is. And DH!

I'm going to say it now before my burning envy overcomes me.... HAve a nice time tomorrow. Please may I have some photos?

simpson · 27/02/2009 12:23

Hi all

Hope the poorly babies are feeling better today...

Have to post and run as have got to drop DS at pre school then got my positive thinking workshop..

Bit nervous about leaving Molly in the creche TBH. I know she will be fine and it will do her good but she has had no nap yet and almost totally refused her lunch. Grrr

madmouse · 27/02/2009 12:29

simpson relax, the thing with our pesky little tots is that she will be total sunshine for the creche workers then grump at you again

madmouse · 27/02/2009 13:27

Right does everybody know what they are doing tomorrow?

Lily please tell me M is on the mend

I will be at pp for about 11 and park up
I will then be at the station for 11.28
Simpson and MM you will probably come in on platform 3, just take the lift across to the concours I will loiter somewhere near WH Smith (conveniently the only shop on the station )

Shall we all meet outside purple planet unless it is very wet?

Then lets see how we go after a play session. we can pay again, go to the transport museum or to something like McDonald/pizza hut

getting really excited now

JustKeepSwimming · 27/02/2009 13:56

Tomorrow, right.
I know, i think!
I'm driving, will park at PP, see what time it is, text Madm and maybe join here if i'm early enough for walk to station. Otherwise see you outside PP.

Lucky - how are you & A getting there, driving too?

Roll call for 28th:
JKS +1 (driving)
Lucky +1
A +1
Madmouse +1 (driving)
Simpson +1 (train)
Lily + 3 (driving)
Mixedmama +1 (train)

= 7 + 9

Possibles:

Gingeme · 27/02/2009 13:56

Afternoon ladies. Edward had a good night but still hasn't kept anything down. DH took him so the GP this morning and was told to give him very diluted fruit juice with a genrous pinch of salt in it. 5ml every 20 mins or so. If this stays down to give him half a digestive later. So far so good
of your meet up tommorrow. Hope all those traveling with lo's get on ok
Fragolina I hope your throat is on the mend real soon. It seems to have gone on too long now
So glad things are healed between you and DH.
Took George to playgroup today. He walked around nearly the whole 2 hours. He did very well zonked out as soon as we got home.
Well I think thats about it for now.
Have a great time tommorrow. Lots of photos please?
xxx

simpson · 27/02/2009 16:27

Hi all

Excited about tomorrow

DD was ok (ish) in creche although I did hear her a few times but then she zonked out for an hour so must have been knackered, bless her!!

Just waved DS off with my mum and bro's girlfriend and I didn't even have to cook him tea as my mum got here early and will do it at hers

Lilyloo - How is M?

Lilyloo · 27/02/2009 16:29

Please send your get well vibes here
I am not sure she is going to be better for tom and also worried if she passes it on to your lo's ?
She had fitful night , raging fever so wasnt really sleeping. Nearly took her to a and e this morning at 3 am after she vomited all over our bed.
Stripped her down and gave her cool flannel and stayed awake with her as scared tbh.
Her breathing was really laboured and her whole little body was on fire.
We managed to nod off with her lay on my chest at about 5.30 am this morning

Thankfully the fever has subsided now and she hasn't been sick since 3 am.
I think the worse is passing she is in bed now and has just wanted to sleep understandably.

Thing is even if she is brighter tom i would hate for her to pass anything on to your lo's but really want to come

What do you all think ?

Oh and dp bloody car has gone again he is going to look at getting new one tom and scrap his , despite spending all that money on it.

Gingeme poor Edward hope he manages to stop vomiting soon.Watch out for the fever if its this bug. Another mner on her with similair thing last night too

madmouse · 27/02/2009 16:43

Lily tough call, I could do without Nathan having another bout of something as he is finally nice and chubby now, but if M does not go round kissing everybody we should be fine I think?

I really want you to come

Can you ring NHS direct for advice on this one?

simpson · 27/02/2009 16:57

Lilyloo - I would have thought it would be ok as long as Martha doesn't kiss anyone too...

Have your other Dcs had it I can't remember?? If they haven't then maybe not as contagious as you think??

Lilyloo · 27/02/2009 16:59

No neither of them have had it so hopeful its not too contagious...

OP posts:
simpson · 27/02/2009 17:03

I would have thought it would be ok then Hopefully M will have a good sleep tonight too and be nice and perky

Well My aunts, uncle & dad were supposed to be here at 3.45 and still no sign

They want to see the baby but she will be in bed in an hour....

My dad's time keeping is always bad TBH and drives me up the wall but I will look like the bad person if DD is in bed when they show as neither of my aunts have met Molly yet...

I refuse to ring and find out where he is, I always do it and maybe he has to learn some responsibility for his actions ie being late. Although aged 60 this yr might be a bit late for that

LaTrucha · 27/02/2009 18:46

Simpson - this happened to me recently when the monsters came to visit. They were due at 11 and turned up - no phone call - at 1.30 to a sleeping baby that they had waited a year to see. They had an hour with her in the end. Oh, and by the way they were the ones who bought the cough and cold with them. The little one has a fever BEFORE they started out.

Enjoy your meet up tomorrow.

Who is not going? Who will I have to talk to tomorrow? DH is not coming home, I think. Disappointed but it's for the best (for various boring logistical family reasons not becasue we're still cross with one another).

Fragolina · 27/02/2009 19:10

Lilyloo, poor martha, hope she has a good night. I agre that if your other dcs don't have th ebug yet, its prob not too contagious.

LaT - I'll be here tomorrow! Sorry guys, not coming to the meet up. Went to GP today, thinking he would say 'take some paracetamol, you'll be fine', which is what usually happens, BUT what he did say was 'you're really run down, your immune system is compromised, what's been going on?'. Was a bit of a wake up call really, and he said that I need lots of rest. , we'll see how that goes. He was ready to sign me off work (I refused, because it would mean I just come back to more work piled up).

Ooh, off to put up my feet and enjoy a nice big glass of red.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 27/02/2009 19:35

Frag - go back and get signed off... i hear you about more work piling up but the doc told you to rest so do it... i find docs rarely do things like these days.

Lily- fingers crossed M is better for tomorrow. I doubt the others will catch anything so as long as you are happy I dont mind if she is a little not right.

Cant wait for tomorrow... just wondering how i am going to keep E amused on the train ride. He is in mobilee stage and will just want to crawl up the aisle me thinks.

DH has annoyed me this evening, he has been giving up smoking this week and doing well, but was in a foul mood this evening and really being horrible to DS1, snapping when there was no reason for snapping and stuff. I am trying to be calm about it as I read all the NHS gumpf that said we would get mood swings.

Has anyone seen those CHange4life adverts on TV, I filled in the survey and have recieved an action plan for us all to eat better and get more active. It came with a deck of cards that all have different ideas on them to help you incorporate the changes, really good, think i might let DS1 pick one card each day and then we can follow the advice.

simpson · 27/02/2009 19:42

Mixedmama - I am worried about train ride too...Hoping to keep stuffing DD with food to keep her quiet

Well visitors just left. They arrived as soon as DD's bum hit the mattress at 6pm typical!!

My dad got DD up again she she was most pleased to have a captive audience downstairs!!

She went back to bed at 7ish...

Lilyloo · 27/02/2009 19:47

Thanks all
i think nursery usually say 24 hours after the vomiting should be ok so hopefully ...
She had some grapes for her tea and they have stayed down.
Even managed smile in the bath.
Right have checked through my instructions MM thanks very simple for ds.
I think its going to take me 2.5 hours so hoping to leave at 9 ish.
What time will you all be there from station ?
