JKS brilliant catch-up worth of MrsMc (MrsMc where are you!! )

thanks for trying so hard to understand me , the hyper awareness of changes in his health is actually quite problematic, as everything is a problem (sleeping longer/shorter/eating more/less/talking more/less/being velcro/having a spot on his chin) and causes really problematic anxiety. I really struggle to filter it and make sense of what is and is not a problem. To function properly i kind of need Nathan to be the same every day. go figure...

You know what, yesterday afternoon was so traumatic that I forgot to tell the good bit - yesterday morning! . Nathan now has a child development adviser, a special teacher who will keep an eye on his development and help stimulate it. she came to do a detailed assessment yesterday and says she won't be able to come very often...ratatata...as he is fully on track except of course for his motor skills but that we can live with. language, play, self help etc all good.

LuckySalem · 01/04/2009 23:21

Sorry I not been about for a while but DP's shifts all mixed up due to his courses. (Another of which has been cancelled for tomorrow but we won't go into that )

I'm going to try to catch up without rabbiting on too much about what we've been upto.

Madmouse - So soooo sorry about your hospital visit. Am glad that Nathan is fine though. It's good that you are speaking to DH about it and I hope that the counselling comes through for you soon.
Good to hear about Nathan's development and I'm sure that the determined little boy will catch up with his motor skills soon too.

I'm sorry but I just can't remember who said what so try to pick out the bits if you can

Chicken pox?! Oh no, I do hope none of your LO's have got it. I remember having chicken pox and I've still got the scars from the scratching.

Party bags - We did them but only with a piece of cake in. Nothing else. I had a friend that did it (not sure if it was A actually) and she got books for them and everything and although it was lovely it wasn't expected.

Farting - We use farting although my mum tells me off and says that it should be windeys. so

LaT - sorry your brother is in hospital again.

Mixedmama - Please don't worry about what you did to DS and don't think we'd judge. The difference between you and the lady I was talking about was that is was VERY hard slap across the face. I personally don't have a huge problem with a tap on the fabric covered bum but this was nasty looking and the women seemed to have no remorse about it as proven by the next smack across the legs to stop him from crying yeh that'll work.

Speaking of that woman. I had a HV visit on Tues anyway and mentioned it to her and explained I didn't want a huge fuss but was worried that maybe it was out of stress of being preg etc. So they've said that they'll have a word with her HV and see whether she can pay her a visit to check how she is. I've asked it not to be mentioned that it was me and she's said that actually they did notice it and we're discussing it between themselves as to what to do anyway. (although they didn't see the slap, just heard the noise)

Well let's see, Monday I was at my mum's which was nice and calming as I can normally relax the whole day there.
Tuesday we spent the day in tidying the house (DP at a course) and fell asleep watching The West Wing upstairs on the bed. Was sooo cute cos she just came upto me and put her head on my belly and fell asleep. She VERY rarely does that cos 1 - she's not a cuddly baby and 2 - She's a buggar to get to sleep.
Today - We went to TyMawr (the place I didn't think was open) and had a brilliant day. She got to stroke Bunnies, Guinea Pigs, Goats, Pigs, Sheep, Donkeys, Horses, Llamas, Chicken and Turkeys Then we had McD's naughty mummy and all had an afternoon sleep before the football.

Just gotta look for jobs before the jobcentre visit tomorrow so ((hugs)) to all that need it.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 02/04/2009 09:55

Morning ladies,

Our central heating is getting replaced today so am at home with the front door wide open freezing. DC were supposed to go to ILs and stay tonight as the workmen havent bee leaving the other flats till gone 8pm and are coming back tomorrow for electrics and stuff. DS1 got the runs yesterday afternoon and has had it throughout the night and this morning so decided to keep him with me, in hindsight a bad decision since the house is freezing and they have turned off the water and have had to fill up saucepans. Hopefully DH will get a job near home and be able to quickly drop him round MIL. Feel bad but think he will be beter off there.

MM - very pleased about your good news re: Nathan.

JKS - thoroughly enjoyed your mammoth catch up. Weekly meals out sound great we are lucky as we get to spend a fair bit of time alone and as much as we love the kids sometimes it is nice to just be us.

Lily - you have my fullest sympathies with the CP good that H and L have had it tho as at leats you pretty much know that once M is over it it is over.

Will prob be about a lot today as not sure how else to occupy my time... 3 workmn so they are all over the flat.

Gingeme · 02/04/2009 12:44

Lucksalem lol my Mum tells me off for saying fart too she calls it blow offs which I do sometimes too
JKS I put George down for his nap at 11 today so if they started drilling at 12-1 atleast he would have an hour but they havn't today so hes still sleeping Edward is too and he is erm wow he's 2 and a half his birthday was in October.
LaTrucha so sorry to hear about your brother
Lillyloo they do sound like pox spots. They usualy start behind the creases of knees and elbows and sometimes behind the ears then on the torso and if your realy unlucky everywhere else good luck.
re two in nappies. Hopefuly we will have Edward out of them in August but its never ealy bothered me tbh. I agree with JKS though it can be fed up inducing and I admit if DH is home and one is smelly I pretend not to smell it and he is garuanteed to so he changes them .
Well time for lunch. Wow dare I speak to soon but I might even have a read of my book.
Take care ladies xx

Gingeme · 02/04/2009 13:08

P.S. I ve uplaoded some updated pics xx

simpson · 02/04/2009 17:31

Hi all

Lovely weather here

Been out in the garden with Dcs and DD had a great time pulling grass etc...

DS still out there with his little gang of friends....

Madmouse - are we still on for 25th?

JustKeepSwimmingInChocolate · 02/04/2009 17:55

Madmouse - thanks quiet lol at trying to get a baby to be the same every day...if only
And massive YEY re the advisor
Can you read back over your posts at the worst time when all the diagnoses were so pessimistic and compare to the reality today, does that help cheer you up?

Yes MrsMc - come back in, where are you? hope the pg going ok & family not driving you too mad.

Lucky - a really big well done for mentioning it to the HV, good on you!
you know i haven't taken the boys to McDs yet but may do soon to see what they think! sure they'll love the toys with food option
not great for my diet i guess so won't happen for a while, though i starting to relax a little, which i shouldn't, as i'm so near my goal.
looking looking or jumping through hoops looking iykwim?

Mixedm - wish we could use grand-parents more but hey a meal out will be nice i hope. well we have promised to try new (to us) restaurants so they might not always be nice...
hope the central heating men have gone???
and ds1 feeling better over at MILs?

Gingeme - glad they had good naps today more at reading book!
(i often do that re smelly nappies too!)
Great pics - your big boys are so big now! the pirate one is my fave i think

SImps - lovely here too, have started trying to put together a massive climbing frame we were given last year, bits & pieces of it everywhere now
will try and do some more tomorrow sometime....impatient really, should have waited for DH.

well, just baths & bedtime, then i can get ready to go out and meet dh at the restaurant i think as he's going to be a bit late leaving work. hope he isn't too late, don't fancy sitting there on my own for too long...

LuckySalem · 02/04/2009 20:37

I'm really glad I mentioned it tbh as I saw the lady again today and she's looking really tired and down. She caught him a couple of times today but only on the bum so it didn't seem to jump out at me as much (dont know if thats a bad or good thing) but anyway I think she could do with some help and I think thats what the HV's gonna do for her.

Well today we went to babyclub then to jobcentre to sign on followed by some shopping where I had to spend my last pennies (literally) I feel so bloody depressed today. I couldn't even afford nappies for her, What kind of mother can't afford nappies for her child? I had to get her the cheap juice as well as I couldn't afford the high juice. DP is going to buy her some nappies tomorrow (we've only got 4 left) so I spose it's not the end of the world as she's not going to go without but still, I should be able to do it for her.

Anyways - sorry its not very personal today and sorry for the downer.

Lilyloo · 02/04/2009 22:13

Evening all!!

Completely stumped with these spots.
Was thinking hand , foot and mouth but she now has more on her legs ???
Some are blister like , others not ??
Am not sure whether the creases are eczema or not but her nappy area is really sore and covered in spots!

Lucky, hey, she won't go without nappies don't be so hard on yourself!!
The best juice is free from the tap

OP posts:
JustKeepSwimmingInChocolate · 03/04/2009 09:19

Lucky - sounds like that mum is having a tough time hope the HVs can help.
Don't beat yourself up about the money things. i always have to ask DH for money for things or he gives me cash before i ask now as he knows i hate asking!
But just think of the incredibly valuable job you are doing every day with A

Lily - more spots? why do you think it's not CP?

Nice dinner with DH, was an 'eat as much as you like' buffet thing which we weren't expecting. they had everything from pizza/pasta/garlic bread/chips & curry/naan bread/samosas & prawn crackers/thai curry/egg fried rice &&&&&& more!
i was quite good though, don't want to undo all my good work! though i had 2 large glasses of wine so head hurt a bit this morning

Will have to write a long list of all restaurants from the yellow pages and tick them off with a date and whether we would go again and do a slow tour of them all
Won't be next thurs though as going to my parents in devon for the bank holiday weekend. (seemed a good idea months ago )!

right, hoping to try the bike to go to playgroup if the boys will share the trailer without arguing....

simpson · 03/04/2009 11:46

Hi all

Have not got my class today as the woman running it said people are having child care problems as DS's school closes at 2 today and course runs till 3 so they have cancelled it

So instead we (me, DH & DCs) are going into town to do some shopping and will treat DS to a Macdonalds

DD's dietician has just rung after me leaving a message over a week ago She says to ry and cut down on her fruit/veg intake and up the carbs...

Will try it and see how we get on. Sorry TMI but the poo was so bad this morning it went through clothes to the highchair!!

Gingeme - saw the pics...look great. Can't beleive how big your boys are

JKS - am very on your meal out. Well done on not undoing all the hard work re diet!!

Lilyloo - Are you taking M to doc's? Maybe a mild dose of CP?

LaT - how are you hun? ((hugs))

Lucky - well done on saying something. Deffo the best thing to do now HV can see if she needs help etc...

Madmouse - you ok??

Mixed mama - hope DS1 a bit better today? Is heating on?

mixedmamameansbusiness · 03/04/2009 13:05

Afternoon,

Lucky - we have had very severe money probs recently and only now am i seeing a clearing and feeling better. You have my full sympathies I have been the mother standing in the shop wondering how to buy things. I feel your pain really I do.

In the money convo and asking DH for money, I am wondering as a RL friend and I were talking and DH and I just have a joint account and joint (empty) savings so I never really have to ask him for any money IYSWIM altho sometimes obv we clear things with each other to make sure there isnt anything coming out the other isnt aware of, but unless the bank account is dry and he has doen a cash job and i need some money for lunch we just do it like this. DF has separate accounts and they are not allowed to look at each others bank statements and hide OD etc from each other and have specific bills they are each responsible for and have to lend each other money when necessary. It works for them but just wondered how everyone else works it as I just assumed everyone had joint accounts since i know my parents did and DH never suggested anything else.

The workmen finished at 9pm last night... but they cleaned up and everything. There was one very attractive one actually which passed the time ;-)

DS1 seems to be getting over it and is at least managing to get to the toilet but still some poo each time.

Just had an annoying convo with DH. I keep our gym cards and he now wants to go to gym so he moaned that I had them (he can pick it up easily). Then he just called again to ask where the water bottles are... in the kitchen, he says not. Where is his sweat towel in the bedroom. I tidied up and cant remember now he has snapped i must not touch his stuff and put the phone down. Honestly juts buy a bottle of water and take a different towel.

Hey to everyone, hugs to all that need them.

mixedmamameansbusiness · 03/04/2009 13:07

Oh and just noticed we need a new thread.

Housemum · 03/04/2009 13:39

MM - we have joint accounts like you - at one point (not for very long) I earned more than DH, then he earned more than me, now I don't work at all - but everything still goes in same pot and i keep tabs on the accounts in my notebook (which he knows he can look at whenever he wants) - if I know we have some big payments coming up (car insurance, that kind of thing) I make sure he knows that it's a tight month. For birthdays etc we just take a bit extra cash out for a couple of weeks before, or else buy just before the birthday on a credit card so the bill doesn't come in until afterwards. Only money that doesn't go into joint account is the child benefit, that goes into my account and I use it to pay for swimming/dancing/ballet etc so it doesn't get swallowed up in daily bills and it doesn't feel quite so when I get the £300 dance bill each term!

Would do more personals but have only read last post so will try ot remember later - DD3 starting to stir and I need to shove a load of washing in! (Stupid little jobs like that are a pain as I can't carry DD3 and the washing downstairs, and don't trust her alone either upstairs or down - she can find trouble anywhere!)

Housemum · 03/04/2009 13:44

Ooh, just spotted the easter bunnies

Gingeme · 03/04/2009 15:07

Afternoon ladies
Yummy JKS and well done for not going over board. Youve got more willpower than me.
Lilly deffo sounds like the pox's they won't look like blisters till they are fully out iyswim? They usualy take about 10 days all told . I guess mixedmamma is the best person to ask though.
Good luck with that Simpson. Just hope it doesn't go the other way and make her constipated
Yes they are big lads aren't they? Though I was reading about a programme on next week called Englands tallest children or something like that. Hope mine don't grow to be 6' and more
Had a lovely morning at playgroup. George was velcro baby for most of it though . He woke last night at 2am for a bottle which he hasn't done in ages.
Well thats about it from me.
Have a good weekend all xxx

simpson · 03/04/2009 16:02

On the bank account front me and DH have totally separate a/cs and always have. We don't even have a joint savings a/c

When I was working DH used to pay mortgage & all bills and I paid DS's nursery fees & council tax.

Lucky - I feel your pain, things are quite tight here ATM. Especially as DD needs to many nappies and vests etc....

Quick question forthose with older DCs: Housemum, Lilyloo, Gingme....

When do I try and get DS dry at night??

Do I wait till nappies are dry in the morning or just go for it???

As I think he may wee in them out of laziness iyswim.....

madmouse · 03/04/2009 16:33

Simpson deffo still on for 25th!

DH and I have had a joint bank account from when we first started cohabiting. Some of our savings and investments are in separate names but that is for tax reasons etc.

Am very upset. Just got an email from the organisation that regulates mine. I have not completed all my CPD (Continuing Professional Development) hours for this year. They expect you to continue your training while on maternity leave. Oh yes, of course, and especially with a special needs baby I presume as if I do not already have flippin enough on my plate I now need to make up the lost training hours, in the evening when Nathan is asleep, the only time I get to myself. If I do not do so by the end of June they reseve the right to stop me practising

simpson · 03/04/2009 16:56

Madmouse - am going to check with my mum on Sunday as if she is going to Oxford that day to see my Grandmother I will just get a lift with her otherwise will come by coach

Sorry to hear of having to make up hours, not suprised you are and

Can you not appeal?? Grrr on your be half....

LuckySalem · 03/04/2009 17:29

Madmouse - That sucks! Can you appeal it?

Mixedmama - We have seperate accounts just cos it's easier. we never got around to sorting out a joint account. All the bills come out of DP's account cos he earns and I'm meant to pay for food and anything extra so I paid for the holiday clothes and didn't realised I wouldn't have enough for the normal shopping. DP has said he doesn't mind at all but he's abit short so we've forgone takeaways etc this month.

Sorry can't remember what else I was gonna say now.

Oh new thread title - TANTRUMS TANTRUMS galore!! lol

simpson · 03/04/2009 17:33

Lucky - thats how we do things now...

I pay for food and things for me & Dcs and DH pays mortgage, bills and clothes for himself etc....

New thread title deffo needs to have the word tantrum in it somewhere lol!!

Going to funfair tomorrow afternoon. DS is beside himself with excitement!!

LuckySalem · 03/04/2009 17:34

That's what I was going to say.

The lady who the HV's are meant to be "helping" have apparently been arond all the mums asking if they saw what happened as it's soemthing that needs to be "dealt" with. Feel guilty as shit now.

simpson · 03/04/2009 17:42

Lucky - think how guilty you would feel if you had done nothing and something happened iyswim...

Do you think HV will help her though??

LuckySalem · 03/04/2009 17:45

Simps - I dont know. It sounds as though they're building a case against her rather than to help her. IYKWIM

simpson · 03/04/2009 17:46

Hopefully they are just building case to help her

Doesn't sound like it though

But you shouldn't feel guilty as they already knew about her...maybe there are things on her file that you don't know about....
