Evening Ladies -

We're all pretty quiet on here ATM . I like it when we're too chatty!

Had a shocker of a night last night. Sabela woke up at 1am and something must have told her it was daytime as she thought it was time to get up. She didn't go back to sleep until 5.30 and then only slept in naps until 8. DH and I were in bits buthtankfully ILs stepped in and gave us a couple of hours. At 4am she started pointing to the window when she realised it was dark outside. HMMMMMmmmmm. I~ asked her twice if she wanted to go to sleep, and she nodded yes, but she couldn;t go, so I think teeth had a big part to play. I don't hold out much hope for tonight.

Lily - I think you probably could but I'm not sure.

Gingeme - picture sounds lovely. How's your Dad bearing up?

Simpson - How did the rest of the day go with DD?

JKS - well done on the weight loss. I wonde rif I will ever be down that way agian!

Madmouse - did you find the Brith trauma Support people helpful?

Sabela now weighing in at 19lb 8. How does this measure up to others? ANd if anyone's got a minute, where does this put her on the chart? Lost the red book, if you remember. Seems pretty heavy to me!

LuckySalem · 19/03/2009 20:18

LaT - Aaliyah was 19lb 9 at the last weigh in last week. It put her half way between the 25th and the one below it.

Yes I stuck my neck out, was being a bit silly but was annoyed. Its ok, I'm over it and WILL hide threads like that from now on! lol

AngeChica · 19/03/2009 20:21

hello everyone.

interesting convo re surrogacy... a DBF of mine is actively involved ATM having been through cancer a few years ago. It is actually pretty rare in UK - there are only a couple of hundred successful a year. maybe there are more informal ones within families I don't know.

Al not quite out of 12-18 months yet but there seems to be some crazy variations between clothes sizes out there.

having an early night too, even tho DS sleeping reasonably am having a few insomniacal nights lately.

LuckySalem · 19/03/2009 20:23

I had good news today from catalogue saying that I had £25 in cashback that I hadn't used and if I used it before a certain date they'd also give me 10% off.
So I thought I'd buy some nice underwear to go on holiday with but all the underwear is on these skinny models so I just know that when they get here they'll look terrible Don't' know whether to chance buying some thongs/boy type sexy briefs or just get some more GRANNY KNICKERS..

lol

LuckySalem · 19/03/2009 20:24

Oh ange cross post - I'm having mad insomniac at the mo too, Haven't been to sleep before 1am for the past 3 nights. It's wierd.

AngeChica · 19/03/2009 20:26

LaT what a night can you get infant paracetamol with sedative out there I wonder? I remember farmacias being fantastically old fashioned and the Spnaish really being into medicine in powder form for some reason!

Real difference in DS has been having a bsy day outdoors and running around, he gets more desperate for his bed than I've ever seen him! If Sabela is on the move soon you may see a difference.

AngeChica · 19/03/2009 20:28

Ooh Lucky a different patten here I am v tired after work so no difficulty getting to bed early but tend to wake 3-4am and never really get back to sleep.

simpson · 19/03/2009 21:28

Hiya all

Sold DD's activity station!! So deffo room for George's walker!!

DD was much better this afternoon but has lots of teeth coming through poor love...

LaT - got M weighed 3 weeks ago and she was 19lbs 10. I would get her weighed again tomorrow (mainly because they have clay etc for DS TBH) but its my turn for lie in

Lilyloo - DD has one nap a day from 2pm ish till 3ish so for her to have 2 naps like today is big

Guess she is gearing herself up for creche tomorrow

MY RL friend today said "M loves her mummy" as I couldn't even leave front room to get water without meltdown...

Madmouse - how are you today??

Ange - was chatting my a friend today and we were at the price of footie tickets. The game last wk at Reading was £26 Saw Des Santos BTW - very good Have you heard Lee going to scum??

Gingeme · 19/03/2009 21:36

Hi ladies just a quick one from me. Sending this from du phone as the hard drive has broke on of so won't be on for few days. Photo session was brill the boys had great fun. Can't wait to view them. That will be next Friday.
Hope your all well. Take care all fxf

LuckySalem · 19/03/2009 21:47

Just quickly.

Aaliyah has woke up again screaming taking her into our room for the night as I think it may be her teeth.

Goodnight all.

Lilyloo · 19/03/2009 21:55

Lucky good luck M just woke up screaming here too (off to bed matchsticks propping eyelids open!!!)

I have not had Nathan weighed for a while, but he won't be much more than 16-17 lb if that. susie Sabela is bigger than I thought. You happier now? Simpson also thought she had a tiny baby until she saw Nathan. Ah well he is just like Lucky said when she saw him: miniature lol.

Nathan is finally better and very cheerful. Not eating as much as he was before he started to mess with bugs three weeks ago, but that was extreme. He is enjoying what he eats and that seems more important.

Not sure about work tomorrow. have had swollen lymph glands all week and my throat feels a bit tight. It could be a good idea not to run around for a day. See how i feel 6.30 am.

Housemum · 19/03/2009 22:29

LaT - 19lb 8 is pretty light - same as Amelie, around 9th centile I think - most of the other babies at this age I know are 22 - 24lbs. But that's nothing to warry about - Amelie has the appetite of a sparrow but she's walking around and doing the things she should do, so I'm not bothered, even though my other two were pounds heavier and they were both lighter birthweight babies! The forward facing car seat we have is for 20lbs+ so she's still in the one that clips on the pushchair!!

Lucky - Amelie has woken in the night a few times recently, almost certain it's the teeth - she did it again last night and one of the canines is just about breaking the gum.

Simpson - we have some green plastic forks that came free with Mother & Baby mag - so I can sometimes please Amelie with one of those and she can't do too much damage!!

Glad to hear a few of you have LOs under 20lb, I was beginning to feel the odd one out in toddler group with all these 9 month olds bigger than Amelie!

simpson · 19/03/2009 22:45

Madmouse - if I were you I would take the day off (then get the weekend too) just to make sure....

Housemum - M managed her tea with no fork this evening but have discovered she prefers pasta shells to spaghetti guess it is easier to pick up

Still waiting for pics BTW!!

JustKeepSwimming · 20/03/2009 06:48

Morning
i woke at 4.30, wtf is that about???
then T at 4.45.
i did put him back in bed and he stayed there for about 10ish mins, then came into bed with me and started telling me all about it being Diego's birthday
tv on by 5.45!!
H slept fine, though i heard him coughing lots, and i feel quite tickly-throated too so think a new cough is coming

H waking so best go, back later to catch up properly...

JustKeepSwimming · 20/03/2009 07:01

Lucky - bonus money=buy something fun
Hope A slept ok?

Lily - you & M too?

Ange - i'm more like you, go to sleep at night OK, then wake throughout the night or far too early like today
and i'm sooo tired that really i should crash out for 12 hours!

LaT - think H is till around the 21/22lbs mark - haven't had him officially weighed since his birthday. he's growing out of clothes though so definitely getting bigger! he is skinny compared to T though.

Simps - hope you had/are having a nice lie-in. my turn tomorrow, can't wait! Oh and H was stropping at tea yesterday until i gave him a spoon! idn't manage to use it to eat though.

G - sorry to hear about pc! glad the photos went well.

Madm - so glad to hear N is feeling better i have the same as you, sore throat/cough/phlegm (yuk!) and swollen glands which are really sore. i would have a day off if i could

Housemum - hope A's teeth come through soon and she goes back to good sleep.

Right, time for breakfast....

LaTrucha · 20/03/2009 14:40

Madmouse - I would definitely stay at home,. if I were you (but you've already made your mind up anyway!)

Thanks for responding about weight. If she's on the ninth that's on the porky side for her so I'm quite happy. She's gone up and down between the 0.4 and the ninth since birth.

Lucky - how was your night in the end?

Lily - You can't go wrong with that colour scheme really. It's roughly the same as ours, though I'm sure much nicer as we haven't done much. I'm trying to accessorise in blue, but it's not easy! Especially, I want blue curtains but they have to be exactly the right colour... I have had many goes!

Ange - I've had periods of light sleeping too. It's so annoying. I think it's due to sleep deprivation though. Your body gets used to it.

JKS - I think it's called chronic sleep deprivation

Housemum - I know how you feel about the small baby!

Simpson - sympathies over teeth. How's DS today?

Sorry to be the queen of gloom but we've had yet more bad news here. They've found cancerous cells on the outside of my Dad's pancreas. It must be early stages as he's had every investigation known to man regularly over the last few years, but we won't knwo more for a few weeks. He's going to come out of hospital, recover from the operation for a bit and then start chemo.

I thikn I may well go home. Just need to be somewhere familiar and comforting really.

Thia morning Sabela came into bed with me at 6.30 (which is already pretty good going, although she'd woken twice in the night). Shehad a feed and I though she was waking up properly so I switched the light on. She squiggled and squirmed away from it and then went back to sleep until 7.30! Mega!

Can anyone explain why Sabela is obssessed with chewing baby wipes? She won't chew anything else. Believe me I've tried. Wet muslins, toys etc etc. She's unstoppable with the baby wipes!

LaTrucha · 20/03/2009 14:44

Sorry -

Gingeme - GLad the pics went well. But nooooooo get the computer fixed quickly!

Lilyloo · 20/03/2009 14:48

Oh LaT poor you you really have had more than your fiar share of bad news.

What does dh think about coming home ? You sound really unsettled!

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 20/03/2009 14:51

He thinks it's ok. I just don't want to have to think about where someone else wants the towels put and where to put Sabela's toys.

I want to leave them on the floor as usual!

simpson · 20/03/2009 16:00

LaT - so sorry to hear about your dad

Hope you get to come home soon if that is what you want...

DS been soooo much better since he doesn't play outside after school although he is today as all the kids are having ice pops out there together But at least he can sleep later tomorrow.

DD still teething badly poor love and had total melt down when left at the creche today but was asleep 10mins later for the whole session, 2hrs She only normally sleeps for 30mins a day so it must have been the calpol...

Madmouse - how are you today?

madmouse · 20/03/2009 16:29

Susie, Nathan will drop everything and I mean everything for the chance of chewing a wet wipe . No chance it is not allowed in this house. I am relaxed about him eating church notice sheets cos ink these days is not so bad, but all the parabens in babywipes brrrr .

Sorry about your dad hun

Simpson poor Molly waited too long teething now gets it all at once give her a hug from me.

I have stayed home today. unusually for me I have not felt guilty about it (I am a travel agent in guilt trips, I do actually feel guilty when I am ill from work). It was like my whole body was shouting stop and I have felt really peaceful today like I have not felt in ages, despite spending quite a bit of time writing down things from Nathan's early days in the hope of getting it straight in my head. Just back from a walk in the sunshine with dh (Nathan is at cm and it is one of the benefits of having a vicar hubby, away all evenings but unexpected time during the day).

Yesterday was a nightmare with my friend who had baby by c-section on Monday texting that baby had gone to scbu with gut/bowel problems. I went completely to pieces and dh needed to come home from meeting . we did go to see her later and things seemed to improve. Luckily little man picked up quickly and may come home tomorrow.

LuckySalem · 20/03/2009 16:31

LaT - So sorry to hear about your dad I also hope you get to come home soon.

Well A had an OKish night sleep last night, got her back to sleep again about 11:30 then just as I was falling asleep I got toothache She was up again at 5am then back asleep at 6am and again toothache. Wonder i its sympathy pains. I honestly thought last night oh maybe one has cut through but no! Nothing new!! If she's in this much pain now and they haven't even cut what's she gonna be like when they do cut?

A likes chewing wet wipes too, I wonder if its the chemicals they're after?

simpson · 20/03/2009 18:28

Lucky - I could see white under DD's gums for a good 3 wks before one cut and the other 3 still aren't through!!

But DS total opposite. Got his first tooth and 14mths with no fuss then all the others starting appearing very quickly and there was little/no whinging from him at all!!

Both DCs are in bed already

Big plan tomorrow is to have picnic in the garden if weather nice....

JustKeepSwimming · 20/03/2009 19:54

Evening

LaT - so sad about your dad - though it does sound positive that they've caught it early. You just don't need anymore bad news/stress
(doesn't compare but when my mum was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer then my cat died and i just felt that i'd had enough bad news, then dh got made redundant and we had to come back to the UK (we were living abroad), it turned me into a mess for a while)
Hope you can sort out returning and DH is ok with it all.
i couldn't relax and live easily in anyone's elses house, and esp not with DCs.

CSD I'm going to call it

I don't know what it is about wipes either!

Simpson - hope ds is ok with a lie-in tomorrow, nice that he can have a fun time with the neighbours and he's taken it ok not playing with them during the week?
hope dd gets on with those teeth!

Madmouse - glad you stayed at home today, slightly too!
hope your friend's baby is ok?

Lucky - tell A to get on with those teeth!!! hope you get an ok night tonight.

Well we had a nice afternoon with friends round, the toddlers all play nicely together (most of the time!) and we get to chat (esp as H sleeps most of the day away).
Then DH came home, yey, and did tea & bath & bedtime! i just went up to kiss goodnight.
Dh off out to a meeting so i've had fish finger sandwiches (thanks to an earlier thread on MN!), having a glass of wine and planning another early night.
