Hey everyone,
All good here - DP just had an extra couple of days off so been spending time with him.
A is crazy been so cute today coming up with the funniest little things.
Had HV around today to get some ideas on how to deal with little things like her tantrums and sleeping so now we have plans of action to work on.
Simps may help you with tantrums?
1 - If she starts to get naggy about something she can't have distract her,
2 - If it becomes a full on tantrum move away from her (assuming its safe to do so) and allow the tantrum to play out. If she's doing something dangerous move her to a position of safety
3 - As soon as she's stopped praise her and go back to distracting.
4 - While playing with her again explain to her what she did wrong and why you left her etc like "Mummy didn't like that behaviour so she ignored you but this is much better now, thank you" - apparently even though at the mo she doesn't understand what you're saying it's setting up for later when the "naughty step" may work.
As for sleeping we're to try giving her 4 "main" meals a day, breakfast, lunch, dinner and supper. She's suggested to either take the milk away completely or cut it down so she's just having 4oz, then 3 etc. We dont like that idea but we do agree that she shouldn't be falling asleep with a bottle in her mouth. So we're going to try giving her a cup of warm milk with her supper at night and see if that works.
Feeling more capable now even though DP didn't think we should get someone around to "tell us how to raise our child" but I dont care I needed someone to help a little.
LaT - I hope you get the news your looking for soon, I think the not knowing would drive me insane.
Simps - Sorry to hear DS gave you a hard time, He was probably VERY overtired and I'm sure he actually appreciated the sleep.
Madmouse - Sorry to hear Nathan wasn't well but its good to hear that he's doing better. Laringitus sounds horrid - I dont think I've had it and I dont want it.
Hope everyone is doing good and I'll try to keep up a little better
