Where is vid on FB??

Going to have to brave the spoon thing I think...she has tried to grab it off me a few times so will see how she gets on!!

LuckySalem · 02/03/2009 22:39

Yeh its on FB.

Just let her go for it but prepare for some mess although most of A's mess was on the table and her face.
She started off by holding the spoon and picking the things she'd just scooped up off it!! lol

simpson · 02/03/2009 22:41

Just seen vid - tis sooo cute!!

DD has shepherds pie tomorrow for tea so guess I had better prepare for mess

LuckySalem · 02/03/2009 22:43

I dont have too much of a prob with the mess but if I know i'm going to make her something messy I always put the hot water on first then just take her straight up (hence the nakedness) take her nappy off and dump her in the water!! LMAO

simpson · 02/03/2009 22:50

That is a good idea

Breakfast she is still fine (so far) to be spoon fed as she is so hungry

Lunch is normally finger food now anyway: stemed veg, toast, sausage, roast chicken etc

Just tea the problem as it used to me home made ie shepherds/fish pie, fish fingers, baked beans etc...so I guess I can feed her near naked then bath LOL!!

LuckySalem · 02/03/2009 22:53

I think its the batter you'll have to watch as I'm sure most batters have milk in them.

simpson · 02/03/2009 22:56

I think you are right...

Have found certain brands of fish finger ok and others not

So will check nuggets..Does A eat them ok with no teeth??

LuckySalem · 02/03/2009 22:57

A has had steak with no teeth!!! LMAO

JustKeepSwimming · 03/03/2009 06:31

Madmouse - hope you find out what's going on with that bloke

Simps - good luck with the spoon. H loves holding one but nowhere near being ablt to eat with it yet, T was the same. Maybe yet another thing boys are slower at?

Slightly better night, i only woke once for no reason. H was up from 4.30 coughing on and off until 5ish.
I went in at 5 and sorted T out to as his bedding was all over the floor
he then slept till 6 yey!!!

May just have to disturb him at random times....though we have actually tried that before and it didn't work.

Pre-school, sing & sign & cleaners day here.

madmouse · 03/03/2009 08:35

Morning JKS 6am is a isn't it?

Nathan's eyes are better this morning. we had a nightmare getting the drops in at 11 but his eyes were open when I came in although the right one is still swollen. He objected a lot less to the drops this morning, obviously less sore . Very grateful to my experienced cm for advising to see doc last night.

He did chuck up his rather greedily eaten porridge with a glug of ice cold milk, but he is eating some more now

Have decided I want his jabs postponed for a week. off to call docs.

JustKeepSwimming · 03/03/2009 08:40

Yes it is Madm, but so happy about it we drew a big on the chart!
He had his 'grandma sweetie'/chocolate button for breakfast dessert, just the one. hope it makes an impact for tomorrow (& beyond).

I would agree about N's jabs tbh. sounds like he's fighting the eye infection nicely, don't need to give him more to deal with just yet. a normal sniffle i wouldn't worry.
You sound like you are v lucky with your docs

mixedmamameansbusiness · 03/03/2009 10:52

just quickly... i am here for weight loss and the ladies are very good with ideas etc

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/713375-Reserving-my-place-for-January-1st-Pa rt-2-Spring-into

waves manically and promises to come back properly later

madmouse · 03/03/2009 11:53

Bloke at work has resurfaced. His child was discharged on sunday but with open access back to the ward if he got worse again. He told my colleague that he felt unable to tell us he could not come in . Not sure what to do with this one. My colleague says disciplinary. I think i will get HR to decide.

LuckySalem · 03/03/2009 12:16

Well if its true then glad that the child is ok but bit strange that he didn't think he could tell you he wasn't coming in.

simpson · 03/03/2009 12:31

Madmouse - I agree tis a bit odd...Let HR decide.

Off to toddler group in a mo Molly currently stuffing her faced with boiled new potatoes so just need to wait for her to finish....

Got DS's first parents evening later today

Gingeme - Haven't forgotten about walker, will try and look at some dates this evening, if that is ok...

LaTrucha · 03/03/2009 12:39

Madmouse. Oh! And can I say, if you're going to run, make sure PLEASE that you have proper running shoes. I have permanently damaged my knees by running without them.

I seem to have given up worrying about my weight ATM. I haven't any free time to exercise anyway.

RE feeding. Sabela knows what to do with a spoon but it doesn't always happen. It's often waved around etc. I'm shy of doing it here as it is not the done thing in Spain but I do a bit. At home I'd probably sit back and watch her paint the walls, at least sometimes.

On the note of differing advice here and there. Isn't the advice there for babes to start walking without shoes? Here, people keep telling me that she won't start to walk until she has shoes. TBH I don't think she will, because of the slippery floors, but I don't want to do any harm to her feet either. What do you think?

Also, they seem to thnk shoes from a supermarket without measuring are fine. Am I being too touchy to seriously draw the line at this?

LuckySalem · 03/03/2009 12:45

LaT - I'd never do with supermarket unmeasured shoes for solid walking shoes (the little sockie type pullons no problems but not proper shoes)
DD walks better (hehe - she walks) without shoes so is upto you.

JustKeepSwimming · 03/03/2009 13:46

Thanks Mixedm - will pop over and have a look

Madm - glad he has reappeared. definitely let anyone else deal with it, lol!

Simps - parents evening, cute!

LaT - i may be wrong but i think the advice is to let everybody walk without shoes really as it's better for posture. shoes are more for keeping feet warm/dry/etc. Definitely only go with proper measured shoes to start with. baby's bones are so delicate their feet can be misshapen by bad shoes (supposedly anyway, not sure if this ever happens but i daren't risk it).
If she's happy with bare feet, go with that. she can feel the floor better that way and learn properly.
When we put shoes on Tom first his walking went backwards a bit as he couldn't 'feel' his feet for a bit.

so, get shoes or not, don't worry. but get decent shoes when you do get them, IMO.

H sleeping, T having some chill out time with the tv before we tackle some baking...

mixedmamameansbusiness · 03/03/2009 16:12

DS1 has just gone up to the big nursery class and they dont have naps anymore and he has just fallen asleep...

Met up with another MNetter today for a walk in the park, lovely to meet another one of us.

Ginge - glad everyone seems better and fab news on booking the holiday.

Lucky - yesterday A said she joint MN and asked how to find us (was chatting on FB) but she hasnt posted has she found us? Well done A on the walking.

Had so much to say in response to everyone now my brain has gone to jelly and cant remember.

Gingeme · 03/03/2009 19:29

Evening ladies.
Just a quicky
Booked our holiday today. Went with Thompsons in the end and it was a whole £700 cheaper than the rest
LaTrucha I'm not sure if nappies are the same in Spain as they are in Tenerife but do they saeel Pampers/Huggies etc if not what should I look for?
Thats ok Simpson let me know when
Right sorry for a short post.
see you all later. xx

barristermum · 03/03/2009 19:58

Hi all,

Trying really hard to keep in touch properly. Agree with JKS on shoes - John Lewis made Cerys walk for them and then properly measured her as until she's fully walking and her feet are properly down they say it's best for her to still have flexible but more structured than baby shoes and if they don't fit right they can damage feet. Ithink Cerys finds it easier to grip the slippery wood floors with her shoes on but she's happy on carpet or less slippy floor with or without.

JKS - was that the mooncup thread? I LOVE my mooncup - only had it 3 cycles but it's transformative. I leak at night cos am so heavy at start I overflow, but just wear a towel as well as it's only a bit. Did you see someone 'd at "barristermum" - felt hurt and mystified by that...

Can't believe 3 people preggers again. Feel shocked and also a bit jealous. DH not sure he wants more - me sure I do. Having said that, he's not so sure he's doing anything to stop it iykwim

Ginge - glad to see you online too and missed you all. We're going away next week to v family-friendly and v posh hotel in last minute deal and v excited at prospect.

Madmouse - sad about your row - you sound the sort who finds things like that v v hard so glad all well again now.

Toodle pip

Lilyloo · 03/03/2009 20:13

Great news on hol Gingeme i like Tenerife!

MM bit odd about that man , agree to leave it to HR! Sorry to hear of your row glad it's sorted.
Poor N having conjunctivitis i will say keep an eye on yourself me and dp both tend to get it after dc's.

Simps hope ds parents eve goes well and the spoon thing takes a while to come together and i have yet to find a bib that covers everything

MM ooh lucky you going to the park today it has been pouring down here all day and windy!

JKS how did the baking go ?

LaT i have got some shoes for dd but a little bit bigger than she is now. She doesn't really like them anyway. But agree the 'soft' pre walker shoes from Clarks are quite good.

Bmum what was the about ??

Hope not missed anyone ?

Had awful day today.
M had rubbish night the car still not ready. DP dropped dc off but left me with no bus fare so i had to walk the 45 min to pick dd up at lunch. It has been pouring and gales here all day.
Hoped the car would be ready at lunch arrive at garage.
No
So after waiting 25 min to speak to garage owner decide to take girls for lunch at asda as they were crying , wet cold and hungry.
Walk the 10min to asda and we have no money in the bank
We paid cheque in last week but it still not cleared.
Follows a really cross call to dp , who couldn't pick me up as he had apt at work Given he had my car , left me no money and i was sorting out his car that he had forgotten to MOT i was furious
So i wait in asda whilst he goes and puts money in the bank.
Manage to feed girls and then waste an hour in asda and buy some brollies for dc before collecting ds from school.
Luckily the car was ready when i went back to garage.
So all in all pants day and am mad with dp that he just doesn't think about things
AIBU ????

Oh and M keeps coming up in red blotches which last ten mins and then go ?? Any ideas been happening all day and she suppose to go for MMR tom ???

Lily, my dh would have red ears after that one, so no i do not think you are unreasonable at all. You deserve a hug.

Hiya Barristermum. Yes, what is the for you are a barrister and a mum right!

So cute Cerys walking. Hope you can persuade dh to give you another one.

Ginge well done for jabs.

LaT I would take the rules about shoes very seriously. A minor 'adjustment' of the position of the foot by a wrong shoe can cause problems all the way up to the spine. Children are naturally beautifully aligned and it is worth preserving as long as possible.

Nathan is not allowed shoes. Well he is not walking anyway, but he will be having special ones when he is a bit bigger.

madmouse · 03/03/2009 20:27

Where's my head!! Ginge well done for holiday not jabs

simpson · 03/03/2009 20:44

Hi all

Gingeme - very at holiday!!

Well Molly totally refused to feed herself with spoon and got so worked up I had to abandon and give her something else for tea

She had boiled egg

Going to lay off the spoon feeding for a while other than her porridge and see what happens. Going to limit what I can feed her even more though!!

DS's parents evening went really well His teacher said he is advanced in everything which is excellent considering he is the youngest in class

Only thing she said is he doesn't speak up in class unless asked a question...

Lilyloo - Did car pass MOT?? I would have been at DP too...
