I wish she would just bloomin' well come over now, she has been talking about coming over since DD was born!! [anger]

Lilyloo · 03/03/2009 20:46

yeah luckily it passed after a couple minor things but still another £100

Well done on ds. Did she mean in general he doesn't talk to staff or kids or in a 1-1 ?

Was wondering what you were on about there for a minute mm actualy we thought Georges jabs were today but they are next Tuesday.
Lillyloo so sorry for your pants day and you certainly aren't eing unreasonable for being at DH.Where have you been in Tenerife?
Hello again Barristermum.Glad you are well Mooncups rule
Simpson George holds onto a spoon while hes eating but shows no interest in feeding himself with it yet. Though hes realy good at finger feeding and the sloppier the food the better ofcourse

LaTrucha · 03/03/2009 20:51

Hi all

Gingeme - they do sell Huggies for definite in Spain - it should be the same in Teneriffe. There's a brand called Dodot which occupies the same kind of space in the market as Pampers and I have wondered if they are the same. I use the supermarket brand though (Carrefour) ad they are cheap. The other brands are about twice the price they are in the UK (and you can say that about EVERYTHING for kids in Spain so bring bibs, suncream, toys, Calpol, clothing - don't think for a moment 'oh, I'm sure I'll find something lovely there' when you leave because if you do find something lovely, you won't be able to afford it!)

Barristermum - now there's a hole in DH's attitude that you could drive a whole van of Pampers through! Go forth and procreate!

Lilyloo- sorry you had a rubbish day. No idea about the blotches. My wild guesses would be a) she's pinching or scratching herself b) (although I thnk this is much less likely) an allergic reaction. and no YANBU!

MM - How are you and DH now? Is he still behaving in his withdrawn way? I hope not. I hope he gives you a good cuddle.

Thanks guys. You have strengthened my resolve on the shoe front. Definitely no supermarket shoes and no shoes until she is walking. This is exactly what I thought but wanted to check I was not being precious and had got the advice right. Sabela has only very seldom donned a baby bootee (and then those don't stay on for long)!

News on the Spanish pram, which she still hates. She hates it so much that she is determined to lie in it in the most uncomfortable position possible, with her bum half off the end of the seat and then kicks and kicks until the pretty white cushion gets caught on the top of the wheels and covered in mud. Especial today as it was raining and I worked out what she was doing!

I think I am raising a little resistance fighter!

simpson · 03/03/2009 20:52

Gingeme - am going to have to get over my fear of mess I think although she does seem to prefer "solid" food iyswim ie cooked chicken or potato over anything too mushy (refused point blank to eat avocado today!!)

Ok dates I can do in March to pick up walker are 10th, 11th or 23rd...

Otherwise can leave it till April

simpson · 03/03/2009 20:53

Sorry 11th, 12th or 23rd

Lilyloo · 03/03/2009 20:55

We stayed at Candelaria in an apartment.
We had evening out in Los Cristianos and to the Lora park which was fab for a day out.
We also had a really good night out at a jousting thing in San Miguel.

Candelaria was lovely very quaint and had lots of history etc
Los Cristaianos was a lot more commercial and had the typical brit bars etc Las Americas is much the same.

LaT - sorry couldn't help LOLing at sabela

She is determined not to be Spanishified

madmouse · 03/03/2009 20:56

LaT dh and I much better thanks. I am just not quite myself still so whereas he has always had his moods i have always dragged him through them by the ears but i am not really coping with them now. But we are doing ok now.

Loving Sabela's actions, sorry, but did you really think she would take that lying down . Even I know here better than that. Just start a new trend the Spanish ladies will see sense eventually!

Lilyloo · 03/03/2009 20:57

I thinking it must be a reaction but it has been happening on and off all day
Def not scratching herself they coming up on her face , armsetc about size of tangerine.
She does have really sensitive skin still..

OP posts:
simpson · 03/03/2009 20:58

LaT - forgot to say on the shoe front that DS even now (3) only wears clarks/start rite shoes that have been fitted properly etc...

The only shoes I bought in his size of the shelf are wellie boots and open toed sandals...

simpson · 03/03/2009 21:01

Lilyloo - any new soap or washing powder been used lately?? DS was all blotchy with washing powder, we can only use persil non bio...

Does it get worse when she has been exerting herself??

Madmouse - I feel for you with DH, have been there myself as you know...if you want to talk you know where I am

simpson · 03/03/2009 21:02

Lilyloo - forgot to say M can now take Piriton so if its still there tomorrow might be worth getting some....

Lilyloo · 03/03/2009 21:05

Weird really
she had some on her arm and face this am when she woke up.
Then have come and gone throughout the day seemed quite bad in the bath tonight.

We have piriton for when her eczema is bad.

The washing powder , yes just changed to Persil non bio from Bold!
Prob would be wearing them cloths now as changed at weekend...

OP posts:
simpson · 03/03/2009 21:09

TBH think that might be the culprit then

DS used to react just the same although he was a bit older...His rash used to look really alarming all over face, body etc...

GP also said heat/sweat makes rash worse...so it can come and go in day depending on what child is doing iyswim.

If you have piriton in the house, I would give her some...if the rash goes within 20mins then its definately an allergic reaction (this is what GP told me)

Lilyloo · 03/03/2009 21:33

never knew that about piriton Simps thanks will give her some tom.
Does that mean i need to change back and abandon my huuuge box of washing powder

OP posts:
simpson · 03/03/2009 21:43

Probably will have to switch back

But you could always wash M's separately with different powder and with DS it took a couple of washes before his rash went away. I lost count of how many times his bedding, PJs etc were washed....

GP said it (rash) isn't instantly gone when you switch back iyswim...M may react again in a couple of days as it stays in her system or something especially when they get hot...

LuckySalem · 03/03/2009 21:47

Aaliyah has been walking all over the place today, I keep welling up i'm such a soppy cow!! lol.

Hope your all ok - went to babyclub today and she showed off. I think we'll go next week then have to stop as she's getting too big for it now (she was meant to stop at 12ms anyway)

simpson · 03/03/2009 21:52

Awww Lucky - end of an era

I remember being quite tearful at the first thing DS was too old for

LuckySalem · 03/03/2009 21:54

It does make me feel sad cos its a nice quiet one and the Thursday (language & play grp) and friday (toddlers grp) are sooo loud and busy!

simpson · 03/03/2009 21:57

DD has always been the youngest at toddler group and today a baby of 11mths joined, so she is not the baby anymore!!

TBH DD won't leave my side anyway. I used to go to the same group with DS and at DD's age he would be over the other side of the room, Molly just wants to sit on my feet

LuckySalem · 03/03/2009 22:03

See at home she wont leave my feet (although today she's been better - perhaps cos she can walk I'm not sure) but at babyclub she's across the room playing with the wendy house (still trying to find a cheap one for her)

JustKeepSwimming · 03/03/2009 22:03

um, didn't quite get round to baking

actually i asked ds1 and he said he wanted to, but then changed his mind so we just chilled in front of the tv instead.
oh well he had a hard morning at pre-school...

barristermum - i have NO idea what that was about, really weird, waited for the person to come back and explain...all i can think is they meant it for someone else?

lily - on your behalf about your day, your naughty dp!!!

um, dh home earlier than usual so he can get up with Ds1 in the morning.
i started coughing this evening at orchestra so not expecting a great night all round....

right, off to bed in a mo, speak tomorrow

JustKeepSwimming · 03/03/2009 22:05

btw, Henry would just to thank his peers on here for giving him ideas about refusing spoonfuls of food from mummy and learning he can insist on holding the spoon himself.
thanks guys

simpson · 03/03/2009 22:06

JKS - T sounds like Joshua

We made cakes at half term and he lost interest very quickly so ended up making them by myself

Lucky - Do you want material one or plastic one for garden??
