sorry about the spellings.

Sorry - gret news sponge I am really thrilled for you.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 27/02/2009 15:31

The sheep are coming in this week, 3 are already in pens with their babies, so it will be more posts of how hard I am trying to outstare a sheep and not succeeding

systemsaddict · 27/02/2009 15:51

Our sheep came in yesterday too Five, slightly different kind though.

(one of my colleagues' leaving do)

pureeandpearls · 27/02/2009 16:17

Great sheep

spongebrainbigpants · 27/02/2009 16:50

Thanks guys, have had a really quiet day here today cos dh has been working from home so has done all the running around after Alex. Plus Alex has had an hour's sleep this morning and another 90 mins this pm!

libra, I'm seriously impressed at your one-armed typing!

SA, great sheep - 5 you need to post pics too!

P&P, thanks for the codes. Did you get anything useful at the Baby Show?

pleasechange · 27/02/2009 16:59

neenz enjoy your reunion

systems really hope the bf difficulties get sorted soon, that sounds like such hard work. Hopefully like you say it's the ulcer causing a temporary problem

sponge that's such great news

*pp& v cute video!

libra - ouch, you poor thing

Alexander is another one fairly miserable at the minute, teeth again I'm assuming. He cried a lot last night and I'm exhausted today

poppy meant to say - got the Ergo and I love it, so comfy compared to the mei tei I've got. Haven't managed to 'load' him into the back carry on my own yet, but did it with DH's help and it was really comfy. Bizarrely A seems to love the sleep hood when he's really cranky - hence DH wandering around the house several evenings this week when A was miserable, it got him straight off to sleep!

poppy34 · 27/02/2009 17:08

allnewthat great news re the ergo - have been using it loads and it realy is great

puree thanks for codes (sadly too late for bumpto3 order I've just done) - and love the video.

libra hope arm easing -I'm not surprised you didn't go in.

deb how were all the

rolf hope thea cheered up for check or anyway (I'm guessign I won't be getting a check as edie turned 8 months yesterday and heard nothing and know that tehya re short of hv... our area is massively overstretched on all baby/child type things so not a surprise).

sa I hope things are better on feeding -the ulcer thing sounds like it could be issue as its weird that this has just started now.

neenz hope you enjoy teh reunion. and when you're looking at tents to be sure to find one that has room for the PIL....

colds bit better here (Thanks for all tip) but we've passed on the swimming for this weekend (now have to wait til end of april).

DebInAustria · 27/02/2009 19:52

Poppy - I'm intrigued - "How were all the????"

SA - Hope the ulcer heals quickly - I found the source of Ethan's feeding problems - ear infection!

Ethan had 8 month check today - good timing as he was absolutely full of cold so got him checked out -ear infection and swollen glands diagnosed. Can I talk percentiles or is it not allowed? He's on the 97th for length - 76 cms but 50th for his weight whereas before he was about 90th. I know compared to some babies on here off the charts completely it's not too worrying but it's a big dip for him. Dr wants to have him weighed every month. Those of you feeding purees , how much is your lo eating now? Either amount of cubes or jars? thanks

whinegums · 27/02/2009 20:43

Like the sheep talk!

Sponge, I can get B to nap as long as I like in the afternoon if I go to bed with him. Even if he doesn't seem particularly sleepy, if we snuggle down together he goes off almost instantly. We go after lunch for about an hour and a half and it is BLISS! Even if I don't want to sleep, I can read my book in peace. And it is lovely to have him all cuddly and snoozy next to me.

Allnew, hope tomorrow is a better day.

Neenz, fingers crossed the reunion was worth going for.

Deb, I don't know if we'll get 8 month check - haven't heard anything from the HV or doc - but I think B is back on 75th centile for weight, which is where he started.

He is eating approx 2-3 tblsp of porridge mixed with milk, half a slice of buttered toast and dilute fresh oj for breakfast, approx 100 - 120g of pureed savoury (protein, carb and veg), 2-3 tblsp yogurt/fruit puree/rice pudding for lunch, and the same for tea, but sometimes more carb and less protein at tea time. I give him finger foods too - Organix veg stick things, biscotti, pitta, veg, fruit, cheese, etc, but most of it ends up on the floor. He has milk first thing, late morning, mid afternoon and bedtime, as well as 2 feeds in the night. HTH. He seems quite long (a lot of 6-12 month stuff is getting on the tight side); he isn't a super chubby baby, but he does have nice chunky thighs! Might try and measure him tomorrow if I can get him straightened out long enough.

Colds are improving a bit here too I'm pleased to say.

Essie (and anyone else who is Welsh) - happy St David's Day for tomorrow - thought I'd get in early!

DebInAustria · 27/02/2009 21:08

Thanks Whinegums - that's really helpful, Ethan doesn't eat that much. Do you make your own rice pudding?

whinegums · 27/02/2009 21:32

Deb, also meant to say, he doesn't always eat all of it - but most of it definitely!

I bought Rachel's organic baby rice puddings, and then realised I could make my own much more cheaply. I use pudding rice, a little unsalted butter and full cream milk, and make it sort of like a risotto - stirring and adding milk over the heat until the rice is cooked and it's the right consistency. I finish it with a bit of maple syrup or fruit puree - the Rachel's ones have egg and sugar in them (no butter), but I don't put egg in grown up rice pud - does anyone else??

Meant to ask you, how is Ethan's sleep now?

josey · 27/02/2009 22:07

5gomad thank you, Im a bit of a stubborn cow and at the moment im not interested in carers we are trying to carry on our life at present as though Olivia had not had any difficulties, the ability to do this might change as she gots older, but I believe that my children and Olivia will have better lives and be stronger if I work hard to do this.

Amberec sorry for making you cry it really wasnt my intention, I just wanted to share with you all as you have been so supportive of us and im so proud. That is her pysio and OT im just taking the video.

AH thank you for a lovely morning, I forgot to say on our way home we reached Westhill and Olivia started being sick so much for what I said lol!!

Sponge I forgot to say thats fab news thats amazing.

Rolf · 27/02/2009 22:19

Josey I love the video of Olivia, and I can't believe how much her hair has grown. It's like a toddler's hair!

Thea's check went fine. Thanks for asking Poppy. She's more cheerful despite DD1 hitting her on the cheek with a wooden block! She was weighed for the first time since August and is on the 25th centile for weight and 9th for head circumference. She was 75th for weight at birth, but my other children were all similar. The HV suggested bringing her in to be weighed in about 6 weeks - I'll see how her eating is going and how she is generally.

I'm not bothered about the head thing. DD1 had her head measured every couple of weeks and it's a measurement that it's very difficult to do accurately.

She doesn't eat very much. I can tell from her nappies that something is going down, but not an awful lot. She generally picks up the bowl, tips the food out and chews the bowl . Maybe I need to work on that ...

Some of the year 6 children at my boys' school have just got their entrance exam results (for private schools here). The majority go to the local RC comprehensive and this is the first year I've been aware of it being exam season. I think DH and I need to get our heads out of the sand on this one!

josey · 27/02/2009 22:37

Rolf Fk the HV as long as she is on a centile she is as she should be!
Oli is about 25% off the 0.4 for head circ so thats an obvious ok there is something wrong but hey we knew that anyway.

Ta re the hair I actually trimmed it again tonight 3rd cut now, I keep just leveling it out and she has a lovely little bob now, Im affraid she will never outdo her mother on the hair stakes(I looked like a certain character that Carol Thatcher was blasted for mentioning a few months back)

systemsaddict · 27/02/2009 22:42

perhaps Caitlin is living up to her Catholic heritage and has given up breastfeeding for Lent .....

sorry just feeling silly this eve. She is still not feeding but has gradually got more comfortable today having my boobs near her. Fingers crossed for tomorrow! Deb glad Ethan's ear infection got picked up, much better to know what is going on. My son was born on 91st centile and gradually worked his way down to 50th, where he stayed. Hv was never worried, said as long as he was still growing she wasn't concerned.

Essie3 · 27/02/2009 22:48

Evening, wasn't going to post except I saw the sheep, systems and I'm dead jealous! I'm from a sheep farming family and I always get sad because since my grandfather died I haven't had a pet lamb.
Whinegums thanks, but isn't it Sunday?? Anyhow, bad news on the rugby...

OP posts:
systemsaddict · 27/02/2009 22:53

Essie apparently for what it cost we could have bought her 10 real sheep! Some whip-round eh - she was a very popular colleague!!

josey · 27/02/2009 22:54

Just realised for some stupid reason I missed loads of posts!

Debs glad the ear infect got picked up, and nooooooo dont talk percentiles lol. oli was 91h 91w and 75h with born now 70 for height, 45 for weight and non existant for head her head is still only 40cms and most of that if F**Kn hair lol

Essie Happy st davids day when it comes

DebInAustria · 27/02/2009 23:03

Whinegums - rice pudding sounds delicious, do you freeze it?

Ethan has been sleeping slightly better until this cold then it all went to pot again. He's still not sleeping through like he once did. In a weeks time we've got no guests so we're going to move the boys out to a guest bedroom , and try the dreaded CC. I'm hoping it will work as quickly as it has done for people on here.

Josey, I thought it was you singing on the video

SA - how are you doing? I've just been expressing to relieve the engorgement, I'm so sore. Hasn't helped that today I managed to fall over on our road in the snow and landed flat on my front - ouch!

Rolf - The thought of secondary school is very scary, don't blame you for the head in the sand !

DebInAustria · 27/02/2009 23:05

thanks Josey

charming Essie - not going to post and only lured by sheep talk

josey · 27/02/2009 23:07

Gosh no there are no windows smashing lol!

The lady signing with the balck jumper is the Ocupational Therapist, the other is the Physio and the girl on the sofa is a trainee OT who is doing her disitation and presentaion of Oli, which she choose to do and im quite proud of.( I think you hear me wittering about the turtle[blush

josey · 27/02/2009 23:10

Embarrasing addmition. I still have milk from time to time and I STILL try and see if Oli will latch on occassion, she likes to have a sniff but thats it. I supprised 9months on there is anything there.

libralady · 27/02/2009 23:33

Yes St David's Day is Sunday.

I'm gutted by the result tonight, although the better team won on the night. May have been a different matter if my cousin was playing. Stupid idiot is injured at the moment.

Josey love the videos

spongebrainbigpants · 28/02/2009 09:04

Morning all, quick post to say Happy St David's Day for tomorrow and sorry about the rugby result for the Welsh contingent!

No smug comments from me cos I couldn't honestly give a stuff about rugby - now if it was footie that would be a different story!

Libra, didn't know your cousin was a rugby player - how exciting! My dh has high hopes for A in the rugby stakes (he certainly has the build!) but I've said he can only play if he's wrapped head to toe in bubble wrap - do you think they'll allow that?!

Right, off to the out laws.

Hi to everyone else .
