might be worth getting becca's ears checked out at the docs coolkat, to make sure there isn't any infection there.

bumble wants to be sat on laps so he can push himself up to standing as well; he gets really peed off in his chair these days. He loves watching DD play as well which is nice. I might get a door bouncer; had one with DS1 but didn't bother with DD for some reason. Mind you, I have visions of DD ricocheting him off the door frame if I turn my back for a second

Ceebee74 · 25/02/2009 20:13

Daisy sorry but I did chuckle at your vision of DD playing 'bounce' with Bumble - only because that is exactly what DS1 would do I left him and Sam in the lounge for about a minute this afternoon whilst I made Sam's bottle - to come back to find DS1 pulling Sam around the floor on his playmat. Even more worrying is that Sam seemed to be enjoying it I can just see the delights I am going to face once the Bumbo comes out!!

I also have spare/old/new clothes dotted around - down the side of DS1's bed are some new clothes for him and at the bottom of his bed are new clothes for Sam - plus 2 stuffed carrier bags of baby clothes that a friend lent me. I have a pile of clothes that Sam has outgrown in the spare room waiting to be boxed up and put in the loft. I need the 3-6 month clothes out of the loft asap so there will be at least another 2 crates knocking about once DH brings those down - drives me potty!! I need to live in a mansion I think

Sam also seems unhappy on his back (but then again he is unhappy when he is on my lap/in his bouncy chair etc etc) The only time he is happy these days is if I am holding him upright against my shoulder so he can look over it or in the bath - even DS1 has started calling him 'grumpy pants' now which is a sure sign I have been saying it too much

Anyway got my first baby massage class tomorrow so hopefully some proper 1-2-1 attention may cheer him up.

LadyBuzz · 25/02/2009 20:19

Evening,
I too chuckled at the thought of Daisys DD! Again DS1 would prob do the same. Might have to limit the door bouncer to when he is in nursery.

Well my first solo day has gone OK, boths boys are fed bathed and sound asleep. DS1 didn't even ask for daddy which was good, I was expecting tears at bedtime but they didn't come!
I'm trying to work out if I miss him but I suppose its a little bit too early for that just yet.

Went out for a bar meal with 2 friends tonight and Jay puked quite spectacularly all over himself and me, It was gross I was covered it seemed like he brought up eerything he had eaten all day. Had a nice clean set of clothes for him but not for me!

Coolkat glad Becca is a little better.

Merry hope you are OK, hugs to you.

PinkyMinxy · 25/02/2009 20:26

HI merry- well done at getting the two asleep together!

lol at daisy I have a bit of a puker on my hands today, too. EVery time I picked her up today she puked- except on me, not herself!

Ceebee I remember a lady at swimming with two boys- and the older one used to go around chanting big bum at his baby brother, because he had heard his mum say it!

DH has had his knee mended. He is lying next to me now doing these excercises that look excruciatingly painlful.

PinkyMinxy · 25/02/2009 20:28

Oh and DS used to play 'poing' with DD1 when she was in the door bouncer.

Tinkerisdead · 25/02/2009 20:29

evening everyone, ladybuzz glad you had an okay first day, good to be amongst friends too when your in a difficult transition at home.

pinkglow we start waterbabies on the 7th, im petrified that DD will be submerged at the first session...did you do it or the instructor?

merry my friend has sent me a door bouncer after you suggested it may help. gonna try that tomorrow thank you. My friend visited today and we had to let S walk back and forth between us supporting her to stop her crying, she didnt get bored at all! Fingers crossed this bouncer will release me from constant holding!

even managed to get her in the babasling today too, she was soo sleepy after her jabs, put her in the sling so she could see out the top and she clutched my neck and fell asleep. went off to post a letter like a loon, walking with my arms free sniffing the air greeting strangers. i was liberated!!!

Sorry to everyone with poo'ey sicky babies. im gonna call the surgery and ask for more innoculations tomorrow
they truly gave me a day of respite today!

Pinkglow · 25/02/2009 20:41

drswife the instructor did it, but it was right at the end of the lesson and prior to that we had to dribble water down our babies head about 4 times. To begin with Henry was a bit shocked but by the 4th time he was completely unfazed by the water on his face.

The instructor put him under for about 3 seconds and swam him towards me and then I picked him up and immediately distraced him (they showed us how to do this) so apart from the initial shock on his face he was fine. Only one baby there made a little fuss but she also forgot about it 30secs later. Other than that the lesson was taking them through the water and getting them used to it, bobbing them along etc. Oh and halfway through the lesson the instructor took each baby for about 30secs so she could see how each baby was reacting to it all.

Hope that answers your question and then some

Tinkerisdead · 25/02/2009 20:48

oh thats really reassuring thankyou. my friend is on her 4th term, she told me they get dunked first time. S has bath in water with me and i purposely pour water over her head and shes fine. oh i feel much more relaxed now, thanks.

MerryMarigold · 25/02/2009 20:54

day ended a bit better. i managed to cook yummy sweet and sour pork. food always cheers me up .

i found a door bouncer on gumtree, which is quite cool as it has a frame round it so baby can't hit door frame (not that they would on their own, but may do with enthusiastic siblings as daisy says!!).

my babies got their jections on friday...we'll see how it goes. am a bad mum. they haven't had any jabs yet and i haven't had them weighed for 6 weeks. oops. today was clinic day and i really couldn't face it.

off to have a bath. not managed to bath for 2 days - yuck!

Hi all. Just home from Js Baptism, in Rosyth.
All went well, though my brother (we had a joint bapstism, his DD is 5 months) took it to a much larger level than I had wanted, it was actually quite pleasant.
I just stood back, made invites, cakes and beer tokens (unused in the end), and let him and my parents get on with it. On my way to it, I felt that I was nothing more than another guest as opposed to actually involved. But it really was good in the end and I am glad I kept my misgivings to myself (well, sort of DH, mum and sis got some gurns)

But now I am on for a favour from someone.
Do any of you live near a big Boots?
My brothers GF had a fantastic toy for her DD and I sooooo want one for J
I have looked in Dunfermline, Aberdeen and Inverness but can't find it. grr
It is a triangular rattle type thing that, when you give it a wee shake, the three bulbous corners light up. It is just fab!
Sort of mint green. Boots seem to have a wee range in that colour cos I saw other things like it, but not the actual one I want
Do you think any of you might have a look for me, pos when you meet up in Bluewater (is that what that big place in Essex is called) I woudl obviously send you the mney (paypal if you like) including any postage you need to pay.

I know it is dead cheeky of me cos I am so rarely on here these days but I woudl really appreciate it

ladybuzz have you and your DH seperated for the moment?
I just couldn't keep up last week, well realy for the past few weeks, but I am sorry to hear that that is what it has come to, but maybe it will all work out for you in the end.
I have been having a tough time with my DH at times recently. Threatening to leave didn't work as well as I hoped and, before we went south, I really considered doing it. He is just so unreasonable and angry at times. He won't listen and I feel I am struggling to cope. But this last weekend away has actually been really good and he even said, today in the car, that he does need to do something about his anger.
I only hope that being aware that he has issues, he might be able to think before he shouts, well not really shouts, he just gets so cross and aggressive in his tone. It doesn't seem like much but it can be hard to handle. And I truly hate it when he goes at DD for the slightest thing.
But, being catholic, my parents just say 'well, you must work at a marriage. Talk to him'
But how can you talk when he gets aggressive and defensive if you try to bring up any short comings or mistakes? (that sounds worse and more one sided than I mean, but DH wants the 'puter, so I am rushing now)
ho hum

J is fabby and getting smilier and smilier everyday though

barbareebaa · 25/02/2009 22:43

hi!
I did read posts about an hour ago but have forgotten everything
LB welldone for getting through the first day x
MM glad you had a good tea

re: puking - got a cleavage full just as I was about to put W in pram to go shopping. Took me so long to get to that point I just wiped it with my scarf and set off.

Found Will sideways in cot again this morning. How is this happening? He shows no tendancy for exploration during the day.

Dh and I discussed next baby today - only just beginning to entertain the idea of having another one! Would like to start trying in september - anyone else planning yet?

barbareebaa · 25/02/2009 22:51

sorry x-post twinkling

barbareebaa · 25/02/2009 23:19

Twinkling Glad you had a lovely baptism day I don't live near a big boots but will have a look in the local one just incase!

LackaDAISYcal · 26/02/2009 00:10

hey twinkling, good to hear from you

rosyth, quite pleasant....surely not (I'm fae Kirkcaldy originally so I can't talk really )

I'm glad you enjoyed the day though. Would be my idea of heaven; someone else doing all the organisation

I have to go back to town on Saturday so I'll have a look in Boots for you. I had a look on their website but couldn't see anything like your description.

I had some good advice about broaching difficult things and avoiding confrontation. Instead of saying "you always....." use language like "I feel...." etc. Turns it round so it's less accusatory. It definately works on my DH

bless him, he is off for his operation tomorrow

eeeewwww on the cleavage barbs.

and at thinking ahead to the next one. no chance here as per my previous post

Dozymare · 26/02/2009 06:28

morning all - up with DS1.....he woke us at 5:50am, fully dressed, and IN HIS SCHOOL UNIFORM He absolutely loves school and is always excited to go back and takes him a while to adjust after the holidays, he is always that excited! Anyway, left DH and the other 2 snoring and we are now dsownstairs. I can't remember liking school this much as a child!

You know we were speaking of personalities the other day, does anyone's child remind them so much of themselves? DS1 is totally my character and it is sometimes shocking to see that. Especially the bad bits, he has no patience and a short fuse as well, I sometimes wonder if I strop like a 5 year old without realising!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MErry DS2 was potty trained just before christmas. He is still having the odd "accident". although, I say that, it is definitely an attention thing with him, as he knows how to ask for wee/poo and when he does chose to have an "ACCIDENT" IT is always when I am busy with Tiger. I have gone past the whole explaining thing, and now ignore, just change his clothes and get on with it. Seems to be working as not had an accident for a few weeks now. Could your DS1 be picking his moments???? (FWIW, I don't think DS2 is deliberately setting out to do it, but I do think he thinks to himself, "ah, I need a poo and oh look, Mummy is feeding Tiger, I know I'll poo myself" sort of thing! However, since ignoring and not giving any attention about the accidents it is working!

Gosh, rather long rant on poo there sorry!

Lacks when you go for your gall op, will you be able to take the bumble with you??? How long will you be in for?

Twinkling Christening sounds lovely and I am very impressed that you and buzz sorted them out so quickly. I am just starting to think about tiger's now, and want it in the summer so we can do it outside. We are starting to think about Godparents now (although one of my oldest, dearest friends is going to be the Godmother as we vowed once drunk and sentimental that when we had girls the other would be godmother!) But in all seriousness, she is an amazing person with a strong faith and will do our tiger proud!

Looking forward to the London ladies lunch tomorrow, choc I may drive to your house and follow you in the car, if that is ok???

obs Until last week I had lost 1stone and 1lb since 6th January. However, after Valentines weekend, I managed to put 3 pounds back on so my goal for this week (weigh in tomorrow) is to get back to that stone. Looks as if I am heading that way though, so happy days! ceebee is also doing really well and we are a good support for each other. She won't mind me saying but she has lost over a stone as well Also, 2 other MN'ers who are lovely and we keep each other motivated/in check.

Has anyone else signed up to do the London 10,000 in May? I shall be running for Alzeheimers Society (very close to my heart) and may look you lot up for sponsorship as need to raise over £200. Training has started, does anyone else fancy doing it with me - I can send links if you do!!!

Hugs to those that need them merry pinky buzz in particular. I think the 3 of you are AMAZING as you are all going through tough times at the moment so very well done.

Dozymare · 26/02/2009 06:29

PS Tiger chucked up on me spectacularily as wel yesterday!!!! All down my back/shoulder...nice!

Oblomov · 26/02/2009 08:06

Another sleep through 8pm-7am last night. Before that we had been having one feed at about 3am for the last week.
Laughing at Barbs and her cleveage. Wipe and off we go. Love it.
Well done Ceebee and Dozy for your weight loss. A stone is very impressive. Dozy, we may put that stone back on with our posh nosh lunch !
Twinkling impressed that you and Buzz have already sorted christenings. We went to church on sunday and talked to father about Max. Like Dozy will have it this summer. Have to go to classes, like we did with ds1. I am not catholic, but we wanted ds1 to go to the best school in the area. Dh's family are big catholic.I like going to church, but think that is becasue I only go occasionally.
Merrym shall I skype you ? we have only just got skpe and ds1 LOVES it. He wants to skype daddy at work, all the time. But daddy actually has work to do, and ds1 doesn't understand why he can't skype dadddy every 2 minutes !! Anyopne else got skype ?

LadyBuzz · 26/02/2009 08:07

Dozy please can you link to the weightloss thread again, I kind of fell off a little bit but I too am around the first stone mark. Got to 13lbs then put 1 back on (too much buffet at the christening so I am hoping to hit that first stone this week!

I will sponsor you for your 10k but won't be joining you .

twinkling sorry to hear you are having problems too, hope you manage to work it out, I will also have a look in boots for you when i'm in town.
DH and I have seperated to give each other space for a while.

LOL at Barbs wiping and going

Jay had a an unsettled night last night, woke at 12:30, I had to change him as he had pooed, he was then playing and chatting for 2 hours. Seems OK his morning though!

AFingerofFudge · 26/02/2009 08:26

Hi all
quick post before school- thinking of LB , Merry DrsW and Pinky and anyone else having it rough at the mo. I think so many of you are a great support for each other, and it's nice to think that when we are feeling weepy, or not knowing what to do in any situation, we can post on here, (the best thread on MN in my opinion) and get some support.

Have just about kept up with reading posts last couple of days. With hindsight yesterday realized that M had been going through a growth spurt sunday and Monday. He wasn't really grumpy, but was fussy with boob or bottle, and only had catnaps during the day both days which is unlike him, and therefore feeding more. Anyway, yesterday he slept properly, fed properly, and was more smiley.

gtg, have to make it to school at least once this week before the bell goes !!

Ceebee74 · 26/02/2009 08:45

Morning all

Lol at the puking stories - it is delightful isn't it? It seems bad enough when it is just milk but it is SO much worse when they start eating real food!

LB glad the first day went ok and it sounds like your friends are rallying round you aswell You are doing really well with your weight loss considering what you are going through....I think I would have turned to food for comfort tbh.

Twinkling the christening sounds lovely - never got round to having DS1 christened (much to MIL's disgust - she is an avid churchgoer!) so unlikely Sam will be christened either. I would quite like them to be christened but am far too lazy to do anything about it

Barbs wow, thinking about your second already - what would the gap be (if you got pg straight away) - 20 months? Part of me wishes we had started TTC a year earlier than we did - then the age gap would have been about 15/16 months and I think, more manageable. Definitely no more for me - DH going for the snip too in a few months!

Dozy your DS1 sounds so cute - up and ready at 5.50! You definitely want to encourage his love of school - no doubt it will wear off once he is a teenager and wants to stay in bed

Daisy good luck to your DH today - will you let me know how he goes on/how much pain etc so I can tell my DH - he is so looking forward to it

DS1 seems to have got over his 'contrary' mood (for now) - in fact, instead of taking Sam's dummy off him, he actually gave Sam his own dummy this morning cos he was crying (he of course then wanted another one for himself!) but the thought was there. He also trotted off to Sam's crib to get his blankie - very sweet! I was a bit at the sharing of germs (DS1 has a bad cold/cough atm) but DS1 slobbers all over kisses Sam that much I guess it isn't really going to make any difference!

vbab78 · 26/02/2009 09:39

coolkat - sorry to hear about Becca's finger and feeding troubles. Sure her finger will be sorted out quickly and better to be spotted now than in later life. Sorry no advice on BF from me. Didnt work out with DS and went start to formula with A.
merry - hope today is a better day for you.
pinky - hope the session helps. Good luck.
ladybuzz - glad your first day was ok. Sorry to hear about J vomiting whilst out. It's part of my daily life with A at the mo. Everytime I pick her up I expect it (she's under the hospital for it). Thing is we always take spare clothes for kids but cant ourselves or we would have to take a suitcase!
drswife - glad you had a better day yesterday .
twinkling - glad the baptism was good. we/me are considering getting DS and A christened (what's the diff) at the same time of DS b'day (june) or A's b'day. 2 birds one stone and all that. just that me, DH and families arent religious. Believe some stuff but dont go to church but a christening is the DONE THING and kept getting hints dropped from both families. MIL has bought A a beautiful dress that is apparently an "Easter" dress but looks like a christening one to me .
Sorry about probs with DH but the 1st step was him admitting a prob. Just a little worrying that the problem is aggresion.
dozy - wow at your DS being ready in his uniform. you must be proud but at 5.50am! I was up for half hour 4.30-5am with A just ssshhhing her and it nearly killed me (so to speak). But she did sleep until 7am then. Also WOW at your running. wish I had the guts (i have a gut but you know what i mean) and motivation.
obs - congrats on yet another sleep through . Also .
BE BACK IN ABIT TO DO ME POST AS DS DEMANDING.

coolkat · 26/02/2009 10:59

Dozy and Ceebee well done on weight loss

Do we have a weight gain thread !!

Going for my 1st coffee with another mum - Woohoo!!
