Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ronshar · 04/02/2009 21:35

I eventually found you all this morning! I posted a nice supportive post for Star and then my computer decided to throw a wobbly so I gave up!
Star. I just wanted you to know you are not alone. It took me nearly a year to get back toit after DD1 was born. She was a very traumatic birth for me and I ended up with full induction, waters broken, a really fast drug regime, an over enthusiastic midwife who wanted me to hurry up and then the world and his mates having a look inside me whilst my poor DD was dragged out with Ventouse!
My DH was so horrified by it all he refused to come near me for months and then whenever we did have crap sex it was painful for me. After a long time it just got better. We now have 3 children and 2 perfect deliveries without any drugs at all.
Sussex is just below Surrey, I can get to M25 in 40 mins from my house on the coast.

If anyone wants to have ice-cream by the sea when it warms up you are more than welcome to come for a visit
I have just read in the Lancet about the latest research which said that if you use Calpol/paracetamol too often, more than once a month, you dramatically raise the incident of asthma & excema!!!! WTF.
I a more worried about all the stuff my poor boy had put into him this afternoon. Nasty immunisations
I hope every one is ready for more snow. It is supposed to be back again in the morning.

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/02/2009 21:38

You'll have to let me know the date, and if I'm up there then I'd def be up for meeting up.

Has the changed - I thought it looked a bit odd earlier too, but can't place what's different, if anything (am in classic mode).

Warwick Castle is always good for a summer meet up CherryChoc.

Sorry/pleased (delete as appropriate) to hear about your job Lozza.

Dd and I seem to be improved today, but dh is ill now too!

CSWS I hadn't thought of Warwick Castle - funny how we ignore the things on our doorsteps! Nice and central though and just off the M40.

Myjob I know about the weaning, I said that to the HV and she just said "Well you would think that, but it makes a difference on the charts". Them and their silly charts! He's not exactly wasting away! Only 2 months and 1 day (Or 8 weeks, 4 days!) until he is 6 months anyway - oh and she also reckoned my milk was bad quality because I don't eat. I'm just going to follow my original instincts and feed on demand, letting him join in with mealtimes when he can sit reasonably well in a booster seat, when he is ready. Thanks for saying though! Am really annoyed that I even took him to be weighed today, but DP was concerned he wasn't gaining at all so I did. The funny thing is he isn't worried now!

I hadn't heard of Tysoe, had to google it, it's not far away from me, but I don't drive and it is a bit in the middle of nowhere. I live near the town centre, about a 30 minute drive from Tysoe according to google, or there are bus connections to Stratford.

Honeymoon, did you find the charts? They are here if anyone else needs them. I found it quite interesting to plot Ryan's weight gain on these charts compared to the standard ones.

Crap. I just compared DS to the Kellymom charts and he is way down on his line! Way down. Even more than in red book. Whats that all about?

I love castles I wish I lived near you guys

CSWS, your house is under quarantine. A nasty sick bug has attacked you all. How is Duncan?

Heather, I would persever(sp) with the Creche. All children are unsure at first, remind DD that you will be back to get her and how much fun she will have there. It will give you some great baby time.

Lozza, are you pleased not to be going back to work or will you miss it loads?

Myjob, congrats for the move up in clothes. I looked through the Kellymom stuff and it very firmly said if family is little baby will be little. You must be a beautiful skinny wench then

Ekka · 04/02/2009 22:45

Star poor you, I do remember that it wasn't great the first time after dd was born & I used to have to really consciously relax myself beforehand for ages! Its not so bad 2nd time round, though as I'm sleeping in with Matthew we aren't exactly getting much opportunity! I'd second the counselling idea.

I'd definitely be up for meeting up sometime

Bother, got to go as ds is really unsettled tonight........

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/02/2009 08:00

Ronshar - haven't looked at the linked charts yet (but assume they are NCT ones that I've seen before), but I have said before that bf babies tend to grow quicker early on, not slower, and then even out further down the line, so that's why William would be further down the line at the moment.

I spoke too soon about dd, as she was sick again in the night.
Funnily enough, Duncan is absolutely fine (barring his cold). Bf is supposed to offer protection from tummy upsets, and it seems that it has in this case!

Bit worried about the additional snow overnight and forecast for next few days. Can see people not wanting to venture out for dd's party.

Oh, forgot to mention that it appears that we've hit the 4 month growth spurt (ds 17 wks tomorrow). After an initial 3.5 hr sleep, ds mostly slept for around 40mins at a time last night, with the odd hour thrown in. He was having a good guzzle at each wake, not just a couple of sips then dozing back off. I suspected that he was building my supply up a couple of days ago.

Warwick castle good for me too

myjob I am WR2 and there are 2 soft plays here. WR14 Is malvern so only 15/20 mins away.

Will def be good to meet up.

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/02/2009 08:56

Jenwa - which soft plays are good up there? Have been to the one in the old co-op, but don't know others in Worcs.
Just spoken to mum, and may well be coming up in half term.

Thanks everyone for support. It is comforting to know that I'm not alone. Trying to get counseling. The last counselor basically said she couldn't help and that i needed cognitive behavioural therapy (and she blabbed confidential things to the GP with the door open!). I asked about another counselor but they said that's the only one attached to their clinic. I'm going to contact the consultant at hospital that I had during pregnancy and see if he can come up with someone.

pepperrabbit · 05/02/2009 11:57

Bored of snow now.

Ekka · 05/02/2009 13:13

I agree pepper. Lets hopeit melts soon....

We've been at the docs for Matthew again.... His cradle cap has gone all yellow & weepy so they took a swab to see if there was a fungal/bacterial infection (yuk!). We also spotted that one of his finger tips is really red & sore & is infected somehow so he's on more antibiotics, so we'll probably have another week of nasty nappies/sick & little or no weight gain. Plus he's got yet another cold, like the rest of us... Can you tell, I'm feeling sorry for myself today?!?! I may be joining you in trying to go dairy free csws, I'm very sick of giving Matthew medicines.... I think its clear he's nowhere near weaning though - he can spit out pretty much an entire dose of medicinedespite our best efforts - thetongue thrust reflex is working good & proper

Hope the nights settle down for you soon csws, growth spurts are a real pain! Hope you are all feeling better soon....

Marthasmama · 05/02/2009 15:10

Hello. I've been to Bluewater today so no Mumsnet for me! We bought Martha some of those socks with little bugs on them that help them to 'find their feet'. Martha has been fasinated by her feet for weeks now so I thought they would be a hit. But no..... they are really annoying her as she can't reach them to play with them! Our snow has pretty much melted away now, everything looks horrible and dirty again!

DH has picked up his appointment request for his vasectomy! However he has just been reading about the side effects and I fear he may change his mind. DS's face has got worse! Apparently the face painter did skin tests on SOME of the children but not all. That's not much bloody use is it?!

jenwa · 05/02/2009 15:21

been making a snow man and washing loads of clothes and playing with DD1 lots today.

csws there is another in st johns where the bowling place used to be (near car garages) It is also ok, food bit naff but food naff in them all. There was a fantastic one in Malvern but it closed nearly 2 years ago, that was big and fun.
madhatters (old co op) is good though, they are all just noisy!

think there is also one in sheriff street by shrub hill although not heard brilliant things baout it, quite dirty and also in kidderminster.

There is a pub (manor farm) and they have a ball pit/small soft play which is ok.

myjob sounds fab. Scary to think about Sept though and how little ones will nearly be 1!

pepperrabbit · 05/02/2009 16:23

I shall be cross if it snows again tonight. DH has the day off tomorrow as it's my (ridiculously old) 40th birthday .
Plan to spend most of the day Sulking Big Style.
