Seeing as none of you lazy beyaches are going to start a new one...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
HollyPutTheKettleOn · 02/02/2009 21:47

He started today, but needn't have bothered really. He left home at 7.30, got to the office at 10.30 and no-one was there. They assumed he wasn't coming in because of the snow! Hopefully he'll start properly tomorrow if it's not too hellish out there! We have a new (massive) car as well, which is nice. Glad dh is enjoying his new job, he must be much happier now in a job he likes.

Sputnik · 02/02/2009 21:54

No cake, I was going to make one then we went out, but we'll have one tomorrow. Tbh I still don't have a lot of appetite really.

LackaDAISYcal · 02/02/2009 21:57

lol sputnik at your house buying....sounds like the italian property scene is as relaxed as all other aspects of italian bureaucracy!!

fingers crossed for you.

not a happy birthday as such bumper.......40 . Feeling decidedly middle aged....and no amount of water flumes, adventure playgrounds or tear-arsing around with DS on his scooter (and falling over and landing on him ) will make it otherwise.

keepingitRia · 02/02/2009 22:01

has DP got a job holly? big relief isn't it (though getting the buggers to stay put is a bit of a challenge)

Jammy, when you come back I want to ask you a question about toilets - purely for research you understand!

our new bed is from Ikea. The boys and DH seem very comfy in it. I went there once, it was scary.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 02/02/2009 22:16

The new Ikea is going to be scary. I don't understand how it is going to work. Getting into Southampton centre is hellish at the best of times and Ikea is smack bang in the middle of town. I don't even want to think about the traffic next week. I might never go into town again! I hate queues and pushing and crowds. I like shopping to be a leisurely and enjoyable experience. It's going to be fab because we can get all the things we need for the house, but it'll spoil my shopping days in town. I blame my sister, she is a town planner and helped approve the site!

Yes, dp has a job ria! He's quite excited about it. I had a nice day today without him around. I do miss him, but it's good to get some alone time! How's your dh going with the job sitch? How's his shoulder?

Daisy, hope you had a lovely birthday, even if you do feel old. Age is a mental state, I am 67!

Ohforfoxsake · 02/02/2009 22:30

Massive congratulations to Norty and her wee boy!

And a happy birthday to Sputnik

And to Daisy for yesterday

fuckingcocksuckinsnow
kids off school today FFS
but it gets worse, so much worse

my cleaner can't come tomorrow waaaaaaahhhhhh

I've cleaned the kitchen and bathroom myself

keepingitRia · 02/02/2009 22:32

it is my evening for bizarre questions (I bet the cat is glad I am mnetting again) DAISY! are wall cavities a standard size?

DH is still in his job Holly, things improved for about an hour after the senior management found out about him resigning. The "incentive" hasn't appeared, the hours are still shite and he is still doing his immediate bosses job. He has been approached by one of his suppliers to go on an assessment day on Thursday to see if he could be a rep, but I know he would hate it. He has been approached for another new venture too, so hopefully something will happen as he is still making weekly trips to A&E with the pain in his shoulder, and I'm sure it's down to the intensity of doing more than one persons job.

Ohforfoxsake · 02/02/2009 22:32

we are going tea-tray tobogganing tomorrow morning
and watching space-chimps in the afternoon

could be worse

Ohforfoxsake · 02/02/2009 22:34

x-posts ria

Nice to have you back. You were missed.

shit about DHs job. Hospitality/catering is a tough industry, I should know, worked in a sandwich bar once. Hardest job I ever did

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 02/02/2009 22:41

Shitey shite for dh ria. He does seem to get treated like crap a lot by his employers, poor man. Hope it all works out. Does he know exactly what is up with his shoulder?

Hi fox, sounds like a good day you've got planned there. I used to love tea-tray tobogganing when I were a lass. That's when it used to snow though. Before today it hadn't snowed down here properly since my 16th birthday!

keepingitRia · 02/02/2009 22:41

poor you foxy. according to Jilly Cooper most cleaning ladies have a drink problem - it is to take away the product fumes

DS2 loves the cillit bang ads. he has been cute today with the snow "lizards" too.

baggins was being super cute tonight - when he was going back to sleep his face looked just like he did when he was born (this could be a bit of ...). He has just discovered books and reading with mummy too. He chooses off the shelf and puts aside anything he doesn't fancy

keepingitRia · 02/02/2009 22:43

right, am off for a drink (though I haven't cleaned anything today) and to watch Catherine Z-J pretend to be a chef...

night all. x

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 02/02/2009 22:46

Ds does that ria, he spends ages making me hold him up at the bookshelf choosing a book and throws all the discarded ones on the floor. He always chooses the same ones as well...a Thomas book about Gordon, a book about Trains or the Usborne That's not my Train book. Can you see a theme here?

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 02/02/2009 22:48

Have a nice drink. I want some Baileys, though it's not Christmas now so I would feel bad about buying some!

I'm going to bed now. Ds is still running around like a loon , so I spose I'd better try and make him go to sleep! 'Night xx

LackaDAISYcal · 02/02/2009 22:49

My cleaner....never bloody cleans anyway so I don't even know why she turns up...just swans about drinking tea and pootering....

oops I forget, she would be me

hey foxy, haven't talked to you for ages it seems.

I hope to god DS is at school tomorrow or he will only be pestering me to go sledging. How do you cope with four children foxy? I'm finding three of them more than a little challenging, especially all at the same time.

Ohforfoxsake · 02/02/2009 22:51

Aw, they are lovely aren't they? DD2 climbs onto DD1s bed, wiggles her bottom and gets comfy, plonks her hands in her lap and does a throaty (slightly mad) laugh, as if to say "Isn't this great, huh?" She loves a bedtime story.

I'm off to bed. I suspect tomorrow will be a looooooong day. Hopefully DP will bugger off to work as he is doing my head in.

Night all

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 02/02/2009 22:53

My cleaner is the same daisy, lazy biatch! She eats all my bloody chocolate too and pays no attention whatsoever to my children!

Sleep well x

Ohforfoxsake · 02/02/2009 22:54

x-posts again Daisy

Dunno really. They have my undivided attention as I don't have to clean?

LackaDAISYcal · 02/02/2009 23:03

lol foxy

g'night all

morning

all snow gone, schools open, and sunny enough to hang out the washing, so I won't have to babysit the tumble drier all day This cleaning lady might get something done today!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 03/02/2009 16:22

Hope everyone is well and not too cold. All the schools in Southampton are closed today and it's not even bloody snowing anymore! Bunch of pussies!

Check out this photo of ds on my FB. My bro took it on Christmas day. It is very cool! One of dd here too. He is a proper art student!

Dp is at home again. He went all the way to work again (2 hour drive in the snow) and no-one was there...again! So he came home.

LackaDAISYcal · 03/02/2009 16:32

hi holly. No such luck for DS today, but apparently there were only 13 kids in his class. They took them out sledging in the afternoon though, so not all boring lessons.

The links aren't working, but I looked at them via your profile page. they are very arty. I love DS's santa suit

keepingitRia · 03/02/2009 17:35

sometimes I astound myself with my domestic abilities. I have made chicken pie for the boys with the left-over mash and chicken leg meat, some broccoli and sweetcorn, and have veg chopped ready for DHs tea, and a soup in the slow-cooker.
And I've got 2 loads of washing dry outside
DS2 wants to go to the library after tea but it's darned cold.

We got a "new" TV from freecycle today - a widescreen one. I'm quite chuffed! (nothing wrong with our old one, but it's going in the other room. I just couldn't resist)

Right, lets see if the boys appreciate my efforts...

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 03/02/2009 18:49

do you know what both me and DH have just realised...
its our wedding anniversary
2 years today
woops!

thomas has regressed today, weeing and pooing everywhere and demanding to wear nappys.
im gonna take him to see the docs if this doesnt stop soon, something has upset him its thrown everything out, and i want to make sure its not something hes not telling me (like a UTI, or ear infection)
he has been running a temprature on and off, ususally in the evenings.
im baffled!

hubby just wrapped his arms round me and said "happy anniversary wifey" hes so funny!
