sounds sleep inducing interesting jammy

I remember my first time away from DS1. A friend and I went for a two night stay in a posh hotel and I left him with DH (who wasn't H, or even very D at the time!!) and I didn't stop thinking about him, or talking about him the whole time. My poor mate must have been sick hearing about him. He was about 20 months as well and didn't miss me at all, although he was pleased to see me.

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 02/02/2009 17:58

aw daisy thats such a pain. which pram is it? can u not squeeze the raincover over one of the other buggys?

LackaDAISYcal · 02/02/2009 18:05

no, it's a graco and has a middle post on it that gets in the way. Mine's a P&T as well, so no way would our cover fit the side by side graco.

I'll figure something out. DH wants the company to send a new seat unit out first before we return the ripped one, but I don't think that's likely.

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 02/02/2009 18:10

where did u getit?
if you email and explain situation u may be able to arrange something.
if not argos do universal double raincovers, and then perhaps request a refund from company

(or take it back to argos and say it dont fit.. i always do things like that, but then im a pikey!)

LackaDAISYcal · 02/02/2009 18:19

I'm sure we'll sort something out with them? perhaps they will lend me a buggy for a period.

Not sure what u mean about argos. the graco doesn't have a raincover so nothing to take back and say it doesn't fit?

FrazzledFairyFay · 02/02/2009 19:06

Daisy - has the 'second seat' split along the seam? If so, that's what happened to my P&T, and the same thing happened to a friend of mine. I too it back to the shop and they ordered me a new one. I kept the old one in the meantime, as mine just looked bad, it didn't have any structural impact iyswim. The shop did offer me another one to borrow in the meantime though. It is definitely unreasonable for you to be without your pushchair so they should really provide an alternative if they need to send it away

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 02/02/2009 19:17

Funnily enough the same thing happened to mine too! The seam split on the 2nd seat. I just thought it was my dd being a bit chubby ! I did the same thing, took it back and kept it whilst they ordered me one. It's a bit more tricky if you bought it online, but they should order you one and send it before you send yours back. You legally shouldn't have to be without it as it is an essential item. If it was a luxury item (jewellery, clothing etc.) they don't have to offer you a loan, but if it an essential item (mobile phone, kitchen appliance, pushchair) then you have to be offered a suitable loan. Them's the rules!

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 02/02/2009 19:18

what i mean daisy is to buy a universal raincover to use for the graco, for the period you are without P&T, then take it back to argos, say it was a gift/or too small whatever. as long as within the 28 days and undamaged they usually dont quibble.

JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 02/02/2009 20:13

Daisy, did you get the P&T from that place in norfolk? If so you shouldn't have any problems, they were great when we had a wheel break.

I'm all packed ready for going away, just got to write a list of reminders for DH/hints for MIL on how to look after jamlet and the cat!

LackaDAISYcal · 02/02/2009 20:15

durr natty....iswym now!! brain frazzled with snow blindness from driving in blizzards!

thanks for that holly. I'll get in touch with the company I bought it from tomorrow. I think they are renowned for their quality issues so hopefully getting a replacement will just be a formality.

kids all in bed thank god. today has been horrible, just horrible.

LackaDAISYcal · 02/02/2009 20:16

I did jammy. They were very good when I ordered it as I had a few queries and spoke with them a few times

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 02/02/2009 20:22

aw daisy sorry u had a crap day. ive had DH home cos no uni today or tomorrow, so i feel a bit better.
tom still being awful, but ellen is being so loving and caring and wonderful that its balancing out. just about.
she puts a smile back on my face everytime i start to feel sad, im so glad ive got her.
love her.

Bumperslucious · 02/02/2009 20:22

Hello

Big congrats norty!

No snow day here for me I'm afraid, but it is fab. I am just hoping that it all freezes over and work decide it is too dangerous for us all to drive tomorrow!

Jammy that conference looks very dull! I'm sure you will enjoy it and it's always nice to stay in a nice hotel. Will it be the first time away from Jamlet?

I'm going away to the states in April (hopefully), near DC. Can't wait! It'll only be a few days for work but then I'm going to extend for a few days. I'll have to pay for the extra hotel nights, but work will still pay my flight back, and thankfully they are going to pay for my passport to be renewed too! I'm very excited. We were going to see if DH could come and join me but it's either him and DD on a 9 hr flight or her staying at my mum's which will probably not work out in the end. Still I get a nice holiday, I've never even left Europe before so tres excited!

Natty, I had to laugh at country bumpkin, don't you live in Croydon?

OP posts:
NattyPlus2andAHalf · 02/02/2009 20:24

bumper we live in greenwich now, its all country lanes and half hourly bus services.
all schools and shops shut.
its a joke!

Bumperslucious · 02/02/2009 20:33

Awww, sounds nice though. I was imagining the Good Life in the middle of Croydon!

OP posts:
keepingitRia · 02/02/2009 20:37

half hourly bus services

DS1 will be disappointed tomorrow I think, it is raining heavily now and all the snow is gone, so looks like school will be closed (apparently they closed it at 9.30 this morning, but the school buses turned up tp tell the village kids they'd been radioed not to take them through) At least if it's raining we will be spared the hour of listening to local radio for school closure news (AIBU to think that radio presenters should be aware there is a "t" in community and so pronounce it?)

Where are you going jammy?

I am off for an hour - to play mariokart with DS1 and then watch my OU DVD on sustainable housing

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 02/02/2009 20:49

That sounds cool bumper, I'd like to go to the States sometime, but dp hates America and all things American, so I don't think it'll ever happen! Nice of work to pay for your passport renewal. How's dh's job going?

Daisy, sorry you've had a shite day. Hopefully tomorrow will be better when you've settled in to being back at home again.

Luckily dd isn't at school tomorrow anyway, so I don't have to listen to the radio for updates. Thank God. I fucking HATE local radio and local TV. I still don't understand why dd's school closed today. Why does everything grind to a halt when there's a sprinkling of snow? I'd have been mighty pissed off if I was working.

JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 02/02/2009 21:03

Sorry, i forgot to say earlier: Happy Birthday Sputnik!!

Bumper, your trip to the states sounds cool. And yes this will be my 1st time away from the jamlet. (Ria, I'm only going to Birmingham, nowhere that exotic).

LackaDAISYcal · 02/02/2009 21:32

how exciting bumper, you lucky thing . I'd love to go to the states. My mum was born in Chicago and it would be good to see where she was born.

What are you planning to do on your extra days?

Sputnik · 02/02/2009 21:37

Huge congratulations to Norty , agree with Holly on the name, it has a real roll to it

Happy birthday for yesterday Daisy, glad you had fun.

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone, I'm just getting over this flu luckily, but DCs are still a bit whiny and clingy so this morning wasn't so great. Then we managed to get out of the house in the afternoon and go to Ikea and look at furniture for our new house, as we've sort of informally had an offer accepted on one, so 99% sure we'll be moving. Not the greatest birthday outing but never mind and we snapped up some half price dining chairs.

Exciting about your US trip Bumper, I went to DC when pg with DD as we have a friend there, it's nice. There are about a zillion museums, including a fantastic flight/space one, but maybe not your cup of tea! We were there at beginning of may btw and the weather was very changable, shorts one day and scarves the next, so pack a bit of everything.

Welcome back Ria

JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 02/02/2009 21:39

I am off to bed now. See you all on Thursday (or Friday).

Bumperslucious · 02/02/2009 21:40

Oooh, happy birthday sputnik and daisy! (I'm sooo self involved )

OP posts:
HollyPutTheKettleOn · 02/02/2009 21:40

Hi lovely sputnik, glad you are better. Good news about the house and fingers crossed it all goes through ok. Ikea sounds like quite a fun birthday day out (though I think the novelty will wear off for me after a few months, there is one opening 15 mins down the road next week!) hope you've had a nice day. Did you have cake?

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 02/02/2009 21:41

Have fun jammy. Hope it goes well.

Bumperslucious · 02/02/2009 21:44

Thank fot asking Holly, he loves it! What about your DP?

Sputnik space museum sounds brill, also there is a spying museum, and I'm wondering if non US nationals can get tours of the white house? It's making me feel all polictical like the west wing! Oh, and obviously there'll be shopping! I don't really have any money, but I'd like to invest in some nice gym gear from gap or something.
