Fairy cakes for breakfast sounds very nutririous - glad the party went well

leakyR · 01/02/2009 12:29

Mmmm fairy cakes.

I've got a horrid sinus infection and my head feels like it might explode.

Elkie - I echo what everyone else has said. You and dp must be feeling so stressed with waiting. Hope you have a better day today and that baby feels like making an appearance soon. So sweet about D kissing you tummy. G just keeps looking at me as if I'n mad when I tell him there's a baby in mine.

leakyR · 01/02/2009 12:29

elmajo · 01/02/2009 22:32

had to pick J up early today, he was screaming in pain and Justin admitted he didn't know what to do and rang me (hoo-bloody-ray!)

seems ok now, after pooing all over the floor and covering the sofa in neat vimto cordial

children - gotta love 'em

not read up on anything cos I'm getting too annoyed with the new MN. Will try to make time to log on with pc instead of laptop cos I've got settings saved on there!

Eddas · 01/02/2009 22:59

oh poop, loads of snow here, dd is unlikely to be at school as we're in the servere weather warning bit on the met office map here so we maybe snowed in! DH has to travel to kiddiminster for his first day on the management training course, he's a very good driver but still snow is not good to have to travel in.

On the plus side it looks like we'll be able to make snowmen that's if ds lets me put on his hat and gloves or dd'll have to go alone!

at least tax return season is over though so I don't feel too obligied to have to make it inot work on tuesday mind you i'm alone with dc mon and tues since dh is off on his course and won't get home til late on tues we haven't told dd yet, she isn't gonna like not seeing Daddy

elkiedee · 01/02/2009 23:27

Thanks all for sympathy. Still waiting.

Ellie, oops at Joe, rather you than me cleaning up your sitting room.

Didn't row with dp today but we had a row with a woman over seats that led to us being kicked out of the Wetherspoons in our local shopping area and then had an accident with a cup of hot chocolate in Costa Coffee (luckily not very hot and D was the only person who didn't get it spilt on him though his buggy cover and coat have to be washed).

liath · 02/02/2009 07:45

Goodness Elkie - what a time of it you're having.

I can't get mumsnet classic back....... I don't mind the new look too much but would prefre the old one back.

There's a little bit of snow here and it's arctic. Think I'll be leaving the heating on and staying indoors, brrrr!

Eddas · 02/02/2009 07:45

as predicted dd is not at school today. She seems fine about it atm and I had to tell her she'd not see dh til wed, which went down ok. Now when bedtime comes round it'll be a different story.

I need milk but i'm not driving anywhere, do I walk the half hour(normal conditions) walk to the 'local' shops or do I just give dc skimmed milk which I have loads of, hmmmmmmmmmm I might see how made they're drving me this afternoon

Eddas · 02/02/2009 07:45

mad not made

elmajo · 02/02/2009 09:26

sod it Eddas, give 'em skimmed just this once!

Lots of snow here, and still falling. It's falling so heavy and fast that before a car is out of site the tracks are covered again
All 12 Upper schools and 26 Middle schools in the area are closed, along with 73 Primary schools. There are 20 Primarys open, of which ours is one . However, the company that provide the bus service to the school (which M uses) are not running today so open or not, M isn't going! I could drive him, but I kinda think that if it's not safe for a bloody great big bus to do it, I won't be either! Because we're such a rural area most of our schools have buses bringing the children in. None of the buses are running, and are expecting the weather to get worse and them not to be able to get out to take children home, which means those schools have to close. The only ones open are the much smaller village primaries where the children live within 3 miles of school so no buses (M is one of about 10 children to live far enough away to get bus provided).
The A14 is traffic chaos for pretty much all of the 30 miles between me and work so I won't be going in, I can log in and work from home instead.

Liath - have you seen the thread in Site Stuff giving some tips on how to get MN classic back? Seems that you have to change a few things to get it to work, not as simple as you'd think

M has just asked if he can go out in the snow naked I am tempted to let him, just for a few seconds, we are supposed to encourage their curiosity, right?

geordieminx · 02/02/2009 09:46

Loads of snow here too now - a good 3 inches, and supposed to be getting worse of the next couple of days.. grrr.

Typical that I have loads to do today, including visting the job centre (have to put a claim in so that I get un fees paid), and also enrolling at uni, to start tomorrow, although I cant see any of it happening.

Have started the wake to sleep thing as C had started waking at 5, have to say that its working at the moment, 7am which is nice!

Also - proud mummy moment - he has been ddoing his wee's on a potty of his own accord - although he doesnt like sitting on it - he has to stand like dadda

elmajo · 02/02/2009 09:49

That is so cute GM
Can you call the Uni/Job Centre and see if they are open/you could do it on phone? Would save you getting out and finding there was no point.

J is using the potty but thankfully doesn't insist on standing up! Ah, the benefits of not having a man about the house

geordieminx · 02/02/2009 09:56

Have spoken to the job centre, and suprisingly - I still have to come in unless told otherwise as folk are still coming in - although they are probably walking - its about 5 miles from here.

The uni thing isnt the end of the world - I need to register with them, before I start tomorrow but if the weather stays like this I wont be going tomorrow either.

I wish we had a sledge...

elmajo · 02/02/2009 09:59

There was a discussion on local radio this morning about sledges and how we've got nowhere to buy them now Woolworths is closed

I let M go out naked, he came straight back in and said it was too cold on his feet , the genius of men has hit early

CaptainDippy · 02/02/2009 10:45

I love snow!!

cazboldy · 02/02/2009 11:14

Hello all

lots of snow here as elmajo has said ... I bloody hate it!!!!!

Little one's school is closing at half 1 .......if i'd known that before I got there I would have kept them off.... but I have to get Charlie from playgroup a 12, so I am going to get them then.....

elkiedee · 02/02/2009 11:25

elmajo, brrrrrr.

I can't believe all London buses have been cancelled, I've had to book a minicab to my consultant's appointment at the hospital this afternoon - once I'd checked the clinic is running - (it would be this one, which I can't really skip or reschedule until next week!) The bus is one bus direct running along busy main roads all the way, I'd expect disruption but to have all the buses pulled.... I'll remember this one when anyone claims the private sector are any better at doing things, grrrrr.

elkiedee · 02/02/2009 11:27

The snow looks beautiful, I'd love to go and play in it and take Danny. It's just a pain when I have an appointment 3 miles away and I live in a city which doesn't have settled snow and has no idea how to cope.
