Hi - welcome to the new thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Jenbot · 12/02/2009 17:03

Maybe we're both cursed sunflower!

DH just asked me to pick him up a card as he was sure it was someone's birthday or something but he couldn't remember who... I figured out and had to tell him he meant a valentine card for me!

Jenbot · 12/02/2009 17:04

Ah x posted, the curse is spreading!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 12/02/2009 17:17

oh, yeah, forgot about the dishwasher, we (DP) had to handwash a load as the tablet compartment hadn't open...

Hopefully · 12/02/2009 17:35

As long as my Kenwood doesn't give up the ghost, I don't care! Too poor for a dishwasher...

Kagey I'm banking on my hand blender and steamer being sufficient. And possibly some new ice cube trays. And a bowl and spoon for him! Beyond that I'll just see what I need as we go along.

Want to try a bumhugger and an itti bitti d'lish. I hate you both!

digitalgirl · 12/02/2009 18:04

I've been using my steamer everyday since offering A stuff. Very handy. Thinking about getting heavy plastic bowls (too light and I can see him flinging them halfway across the house) etc but it's too early for that at the mo.

Gawd, A is going through some sort of 5-6 month sleep regression [yawn emoticon]. He woke 10pm instead of 11pm then 1am, 3am, 4am, 5am, 6am and 7am. No fair no fair. It took us so long to get it down to just a 3am wake up. Can't believe I was contemplating trying to shift that - what I would do for a baby that 'sleeps through'...

I started the day feeling absolutely shattered. Then the contrary little fellow managed a 2 hour morning nap during which I showered and did the whole Pilates for Dummies DVD! (should have showered after, but had no idea how long A would stay asleep for). So have felt a million times better after doing some stretching and a little exercise. A's also been a lot jollier today after his morning nap.

hopefully my Kenwood came with the blender, food processer, spice mill, and juicer. I think it was on offer at the time. I haven't actually used the mill or juicer I think the attachments are often on Ebay.

digital - M has a 2 hour morning nap every day. It really sets him up for the day and it's the only nap I insist he always has in his cot. It's when I prepare dinner and get housework done. I hope you have a better night tonight.

Oh, and for the people who are going to puree, the flexible ice-cube trays are good. Tesco's used to sell them dead cheap.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/02/2009 18:23

Thread titles anyone? I guess something to do with weaning? I have no imagination though, where's Starlight when you need her?

Hopefully · 12/02/2009 18:35

How about Sept 08: Soon be weaning, still dreaming of sleeping

ILTMIMI - if you get the urge to sell your spice mill/juicer let me know!

DG glad he at least managed a nap after all that partying!

Kagey · 12/02/2009 19:10

Thanks Hopefully that sounds like a plan!!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/02/2009 19:13

Good one Hopefully, to make it a wee bit catchier, how about:

Sept 08: Soon be weaning, and of a full nights sleep we're dreaming ......

If we get a few yes' we'll use it as

  1. It's a good title name
  2. We're running out of time ....

Will let you know if I fancy selling my juicer and mill.

Debs75 · 12/02/2009 19:38

Hopefully great thread title.

It took me 5 different visits to Asda and Morrison before I culd get some new ice cube trays. They kept telling me it wasn#'t really the weather for ice cubes. What do they put in their vodka and cokes for christs sakes?
Finally gor some cheap ones frpm Asda last week, 3 little trays for 97p. When i get a new steamer pan (burnt dry my old one last week) i will start pureeing some veggies. Am quite looking forward to it now.

We have about 4" of snow outside, 10 days after the rest of the country got their snowstorm it has finally made it to East Yorkshire. Hope it all goes tonight so dd1 and ds can go to school, it's bad enough they are off next week.

Robyn had her 3rd set of jabs today, she was asleep until I sat her on my knee, then she cried after the 2nd jab and by the time the 3rd was in she was yawning away. Put her clothes back on and popped her in her pram and she was fast asleep for the next 2 hours. She has not made any fuss whatsoever which means she will probably not sleep tonight but at least they are over for 7 months.

DebiTheScot · 12/02/2009 20:21

Ikea do good big ice cube trays. I found them more useful than normal ones last time as ds1 was such a pig he needed about 6 cubes at a time as soon as he started on solids. I only have a hand blender and a steamer, ice cube trays and wee pots.

digi you can get bowls with suckers on the bottom so they can't throw the bowl across the room.

I took advantage of having mil here for a few days and made a batch of carrot and apple mush (not together although I did very nealry steam them together but thought that maybe wouldn't work) today. have also got swede and pear to do once this lot have frozen and I can decant the cubes into bags.

ILTMIMI yes go with that title, its good

Ponymum · 12/02/2009 20:33

Debs75 we have the same sort of snow here (near Helmsley) and I was speaking to my friend near Pocklington earlier who is also under loads of snow. We have two snowmen now, built by DH when he was digging out front and back doors.

hopefully oh yes please make the peppermint marshmallow. You are my vicarious foodie thrill provider now that I am on a ... diet. My mum has a Kenwood and used to make marshmallow squares for every party. Chocolate biscuit crumble base, layer of white marshmallow, layer of pink marshmallow, grated chocolate on the top. Very retro. (Oh... I am now transported back to the 1970s, getting excited about a birthday party while licking the Kenwood beater ).

Carriebo so sorry you are feeling ill.

Hopefully · 12/02/2009 20:54

Ponymum I'm sure I've said this, but I used to have a boyfriend who lived in Helmsley - it's such a pretty part of the world. I always wanted to move there. Shame the boyfriend was a disaster in every respect except geographically!
I will think of you while I chomp unhealthy peppermint marshmallows (I soooo need to be stricter with my diet, have lost about 6lbs, but that's in about 3 months).

CarrieBo · 12/02/2009 21:17

Evening all. Feeling very blue here, just found out someone I know has terminal cancer. She has two pre-school age children. This is the second friend in as many months, thankfully the first was treatable and she's doing really well.
Also I've lost my voice and ds didn't sleep well today so was a total grump and needed to be held all afternoon. And I forgot to puree the swede that we got in our veg box, but that can wait til tomorrow!
debs75 whereabouts are you? We got snow in York today too.
Can't wait for our Croydon meetup, even if its not til May! There's a lovely starbucks in the new shopping centre we could go to, but I'd have to try and keep dd off the escalators! Or is there a soft play somewhere? I need to find out things like that. Or can I persuade my mum to have some bonding time with dd while I go out with ds...?!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/02/2009 21:18

I'm going to start the new thread, will link to it once done.

Please stop talking about marshmallows, you're making me gag and go this colour!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/02/2009 21:22
