Holly...

Loving the site btw...

Now. Maybe it's just me (usually is)... but the ad on the right 'Baby Curls'... well now at first I thought it said something very different. Bad.

Perhaps they should change the font.
Or, maybe it's just me.

And have great metadata

ToAMountainDAISYcal · 24/01/2009 21:47

Has everyone gone?

sorry you're still not very chipper natty. Are you taking multivits and getting lots of fresh fruit and veg?

bumble won't settle tonight at all . Have tried to force a dummy on him, and it sort of worked for a bit. He's awake and snuffling and has lost the dummy, but isn't complaining yet. He'll only settle if he is sucking on a finger which isn't really tenable in the long term. Maybe when he finds his own it'll be better.

spoke too soon....DH and I are playing the age old game of "Who can hold out the longest". I've had bumble all day...tis his turn!

ToAMountainDAISYcal · 24/01/2009 21:48

ooh, cross posts. hi fury and butterfly

where can I buy a finger shaped dummy?

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 24/01/2009 21:57

PMSL fury, I just spent a few mins staring at that ad and have just seen where you are coming from! Hmmm...maybe I'll use a different banner for that site!

I have found a piece of software to help the google rating, dp is going to do a dodgy download of it for me. We'll see if it works.

Daisy, we still have that problem with ds. He will literally suck all night and a dummy just doesn't cut it! Hope you can find a solution.

Hi Butterfly.

ToAMountainDAISYcal · 24/01/2009 22:05

lol I see what you mean about that ad fury!!

I was much, much sicker with DD than I was with either of the DSs.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 24/01/2009 22:12

I'm bored.

I'm trying to rewrite posts that I've already written for the other site I was writing for, but in a different way. It's dullsville.

I'm giving up for now. Maybe I'll do a pushchair review!

ToAMountainDAISYcal · 24/01/2009 22:20

holly, I have some nappy, skincare and pushchair reviews you can have a copy of....although the pushchairs won't be in the magazine until April.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 24/01/2009 22:28

Thanks daisy, that would be really great. I was going to use the ones I have done for M&B as well, just tweak them a bit. They bloody change everything you say anyway, so it doesn't really matter if I tweak it or not! I'm sure these manufacturers give M&B vast amounts of cash to fix the tests. When I did baby carriers nothing that I said was even close to what was in the magazine! The Baby Bjorn carrier that won the test I thought was a pile of shite! I mean it was bright white ffs! Who on their right mind buys a white baby carrier?!

When this gets off the ground you shall be first in line for freebies!!

ToAMountainDAISYcal · 24/01/2009 22:43

I've got to keep three of the buggies by the way....four if you count the second Graco Duopsort that arrived last week . Mamas and Papas and Jane have sent returns labels and icandy sent a courier already.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 24/01/2009 22:53

Bloody hell, that was quick by iCandy! Stingy bastards! If you are feeling naughty, don't send the M&P one back! I forgot to send one back once and no-one said anything, since then I've just kept them. I've never had a letter, email, phone call, nothing! PMSL that Graco sent you two! Fab!

ToAMountainDAISYcal · 24/01/2009 23:11

I only asked for a raincover as they didn't send one with the buggy when it came...and they sent a new buggy....minus raincover! They can't be worth very much if they are prepared to give them away.

I'm not sure I have the front to do that holly, although DH thinks that the returns labels are an insurance policy against being accused of bribery (ie if you give us a good review you can keep the pram) and that they aren't really expecting them back. He thinks I should wait a while before doing anything and seeing whether or not they ask again and if they do then send them back.

I take it you got to keep the cot beds? Bet you were popular with DP for all the building of them it entailed!!

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 24/01/2009 23:17

I built them myself. I always do the flatpacked furniture building in this house! Dp has a bit of a short fuse when it comes to such things, I am more patient and actually read the instructions! One of the cotbeds was M&P. I kept it. Hehe! I don't actually see why they would want these things back. What would they do with a used pushchair or cotbed? They don't reuse them for tests as they always send new things. The M&P one was gorgeous, I was going to keep it, but we needed the money.

I think the Graco ones are two a penny tbh. All their products always look like they are made from cheap molded plastic and a bit of nylon! It should sell quite well on ebay though, double always do.

ToAMountainDAISYcal · 24/01/2009 23:22

hmm...it is a bit flimsy to say the least. Nice to push though and a lovely big (accessible) basket.

they will be announcing the M&B awards soonish won't they? I had already found out I was pregnant so...end of February?

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 24/01/2009 23:30

It's already done. I think it was before Christmas they were announced. I think the recruiting for next year will start soon.

ToAMountainDAISYcal · 24/01/2009 23:36

I meant the recruiting. I saw the results.
If you have done testing before do they contact you, or do you have to see it and respond to the askamum forum message?

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 24/01/2009 23:39

I got sent an email because I tested the previous year, so hopefully they'll do it again. I'm sure they will, after all if you've done it before you will know what you are doing and it will mean less confusion and work for the organiser.

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 25/01/2009 12:15

hi girls.
slighty better, but still not meself.
multi vits and fruits and veggies for me. my immune system must be shot, im catching every bug going.

daisy do you know of any decent (other that motherease) wraps? ellen is now fully in a large wrap and i only have two (both ME) and wanted a few different ones. possibly pretty ones as she will still be in them in the summer and i love to put her in dresses just to show them off

Ohforfoxsake · 25/01/2009 13:56

Natty, I saw some unused wraps on Freecycle the other day. Have you discovered it yet? Worth joining a few groups and keeping an eye on it (although my bloody tumble dryer is still here so its not that great!)

ToAMountainDAISYcal · 25/01/2009 14:48

tots flexiwraps are good

or nature babies.

I'm selling some girly pocket nappies if you are interested?

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 25/01/2009 17:00

ok great will keep an eye out.
my local freecycle is crap (or was till i moved) i will check out my local one.
where are you again foxy? might have the tumble dryer off you if your close enough
daisy thanks for offer, i might have a couple off you, as DH cant get the hang off the "two part fangled nappies" (we use MEOS) how much were u looking for and what sizes?

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 25/01/2009 18:27

are the nature babies velcro or poppers better daisy>? i personally prefer poppers in the wraps, seems to fit ellen better. have you tried both?

JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 25/01/2009 19:15

Evening
We had a nice weekend. Jamlet impressed her grandparents and aunt with lots of walking back and forth across the room. She seems to do it best when she has a mission - "put this in the bin please", "take this book to Grandad and he'll read you a story" etc. She was really cute last night when I said it was time for bed so was she going to say goodnight to everyone (expecting her to make a general wave at them all) she went round and gave them all a kiss And had a nice meal out with DSis ans our DCousin.

Like the website Holly

Our cat ate all her meals while we were away (she had an automatic cat feeder looking after her) and wasn't sick, but the litter tray looks like she had some D instead So I think we'll be keeping our appointment with the vet for xrays tomorrow morning. I am planning on taking some time off in the afternoon to go collect her. I won't have the car though, so am thinking of putting the Phil & Ted back into lie flat baby mode and bringing her home in that (in her carrying box of course!). Am I totally mad or will that work (about a 10 minute walk)?
