Hello all. Have been away so just wanted to wish happy birthdays and speedy recoveries to our sickly los.

Ginger, how's Toby? I am in the same position with DS re one thing after another. His cough is worse and worse despite the latest antibiotics. Am also so worried about him but luckily he is covered by my private medical insurance so I have got him referred rather than waiting for his NHS follow up for which I am still awaiting the appointment nearly 2 months after his first admission. Grr. We are lucky I know.

I have a good sleeping bag story. When DD was about 18 months old we stayed at a friend's house for a party. It was a summer bbq and DD was put to sleep in our friends' travelcot, which is one of the samsonite bubble ones. I was happily enjoying drinks around the bbq when a child appeared at the patio doors. Imagine my horror, it was dd. She had unzipped the travel cot and managed to crawl/walk down a corridor, down a flight of stairs with a bend in them, then come through the house and open the back door, ALL IN A SLEEPING BAG! We stopped putting her in that travel cot after that....

gingermumi · 18/01/2009 11:46

How cute mini, you'll have to put some pix up! Thanks for info on probiotics etc.

Thats so scary strawberry but just goes to show how clever they are!

Toby mush improved today. Hr has an appointment with paediatrician on tuesday for follow up re fits he had when he was a wee one so am going to talk to them about all the infections.

Am supposed to be marking (have sent ds and dh out so i can get on!) so had best do it!! Have a good sunday.

miniandme · 18/01/2009 15:48

Gingermumi try toby on some echinacea,it comes in liquid form for little ones, gives their immune systems a real boost as once they have one infection it floors them leaving them open to more but this stuff gives them a boost, use it for 3 weeks and watch him pick up,makes it much easier for them to kick off the little infections.I have used it on and off for all 5 of mine for years now especially around winter time and also on the return to school after the summer hols as all the nice bugs are flying around.

ImSallyIHaventAClue · 18/01/2009 16:18

Hello everyone and welcome back ruva/rivergoddess!

Just dropping in to say DS has just had his very first tooth come through

and finally he is sleeping better too. Not quite through the night but he only wakes 2 or 3 times. Bliss! It wasn't anything we were doing - maybe tooth related, I dunno.

gingermumi · 18/01/2009 16:56

thanks mini, heya sally congrats on tooth!

swottybetty · 18/01/2009 21:36

congrats sarah on the four steps and sally on the tooth. [toothy grin]. we have a first here too. dd turned telly on. and was stood with her little nose about two centremetres away. reassured dh it was a complete fluke and we could leave her alone in front room ... then dd blew it and was found five min later stood in same position jabbing button expectantly. these milestones, eh?

ginger i am glad toby is a bit better today. we are overflowing with dh;s marking at the moment. i keep telling him to stop setting them so much work. but apparently coursework's compulsory...

Egg · 19/01/2009 09:33

Hello all. We had steps yesterday Sarah! DS2 took 2 unaided. I think he took one a few times on Saturday but was never sure as one is so quick I couldn't tell if he actually took the step whilst not holding on! Def 2 yesterday tho [proud].

DD is too busy pooing and being sick to reach any new milestones . She is at home with me today and not at nursery with the boys. Need to get some of those probiotics asap, thanks mini for info! I remember now that DS1 did have some when he had an extended period of bad poos (a whole month, but was ok otherwise). I had some in capsule form that I opened up (powder inside) and put some in his milk each day.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 19/01/2009 10:56

well done Jacob!!!! it so amazing how we are getting all the milestones in i still feel like i only just had Rosie, where did the year go???????

get well soon rebecca xxxxxxx def get those pro biotics egg """

Egg · 19/01/2009 10:59

Sorry I posted earlier before i had finished as DD had another poo (third today...).

She went upstairs for a nap but is now yelling already poor thing so am off again now.

Betty - what about REBECCA for a girl .

rivergoddess · 19/01/2009 12:41

hi all, hope all the lo not feeling well feel well soon. Saba is doing some serious teething at nite so not fun, feel like a zombie, he has four teeth but there are two top ones peeping out not cut yet, still need to put more stairgates trying to wait for the nct slaes.
Iam trying to combine saba's birthday with baptism have not been a church goer since my wedding.
have a sunshining day.

strawberrycornetto · 19/01/2009 21:12

Hey all. Swotty, we went to Cornwall on the night sleeper train and then stayed in a nice hotel. It was lovely although stressful leaving DD and DS. Both were ill but my mum coped fine (of course she did!!). Hope your root canal was ok and that you are recovering. Good luck for your scan too, how exciting.

I'm also very broody Sarah, but my DH has said no more to me too. Not sure that's the end of the discussion...... DD was 4 recently, its such a lovely age and they really get properly excited.

Egg, congratulations on the steps. Wow!! DS is desperate to try I think but not strong enough yet. He's not 11 months yet though, so I don't want to rush him. I want him to stay my baby!!

Gill79 · 19/01/2009 22:45

Root canal AHHHHH. Hope was ok. Me at dentist tomorrow too hopefully just check up.

Congrats on all the walking talking and toothy babies. Today's "milestone" was doing the actions to heads, shoulders knees and toes, as I was trying to drive us home from Sainsbury's I looked round to see him trying to do the actions to the CD. Somehow we made it back with no crashes.

Am SO busy! We're rearranging the rooms, finally moved out of Malc's room so today have been cleaning as so dusty after builders in doing windows, move furniture, sort out drawers, do a big sainsbury's shop, make soup, trying to get organised for PARTY and keep an increasingly clingy and cuddly little boy happy. And we had a doc's appt; he didn't refer us to sleep clinic but talked about you'll know what is right for your baby, every baby's different, lalalalalaaaa.

Oh and today we had an up-the-back poo explosion. Blast from the past. I undressed him in the bath and hosed him down - the smell was unspeakable.

Now that Princess has admitted to it I too can own up that my family had to be dosed with worm medicine when I was small. This is the worst tasting thing in the world and still so vivid to me. I poured my mug of (dark pink and sticky) medicine on the carpet down behind a bookcase. Sorry mum.

BTW don't you just love the way the tone of conversation here just goes down and down. It used to be poo stories but this week we've had fleas, worms, pile/s and flaps. (and some super-pooing mini eggs). Sorry if I've missed anyone .

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 20/01/2009 12:35

aahhh Gill malc sounds so cute, doing head, shoulders knees and toes!"!!!!

Mum and i have been to Clarks today and my mum has bought Rosie first pair of cruising shoes she is so pleased with them!!!!

hope everyone ok!!!!{GRIN}

gingermumi · 20/01/2009 14:35

I hate the denist! Hope it went/goes ok swotty and gill.

Took ds to paediatricain and finally someone took notice, although she felt toby was just unlucky to get so many infections she understand why we're so worried and did some blood tests (he was not a happy boy!). Results in a couple of weeks, i'm sure all is fine but it's just good to be reassured.

Hope all ok, am hoping for 5 mins to get a shower as am at work again tonight! Arggg. Toby is being a pain about day time naps at the mo So have to grab what time I can! Have a good day!

swottybetty · 20/01/2009 17:19

ginger that is great about the pead, its just nice to be taken seriously isnt it? hopefully these couple of weeks will go quickly and you'll have the results back in no time.

egg, you know i love the name rebecca! dh tho has found a la-de-dah streak deep within him and is currently favouring scarlett or delilah . wd on the first steps.

gill - you are forever making soup. was it you and sarah who were saying that grandparents were reportinbg extra words? my mum and dad are down and are convinced dd is saying all kinds of stuff that she really isnt saying such as caterpillar if we were going to do proper words (and i'm not counting either ba or bye here) i'm fairly sure toast would come before caterpillar

strawb and sarah, surely tho when your other halves say no more kids, a little part of you dismisses it ?

rivergodess sorry you are having tough nights at the moment. good idea re nct sales for door/ stair gates, we were going to do ikea at the weekend but might check there's no nct sales soon first.

i had the most wonderful dentist. the dougie howser of dentistry! she was maybe 25-but-looked-16 and explained everything so well. they not going to root canal me til baby two is here, but drained abcess and removed nerve as temporary measure. whole thing was and still is completley painless. hurrah!

alkar · 21/01/2009 12:31

Where do I get the echinachea drops or probiotics? DS is also constantly ill

miniandme · 21/01/2009 12:47

Alkar you can buy both in health food shops like holland and barrett.
Were joining in the ranks of sickness with Abby having had a high temp for almost a week now shes had a severe uti in the past and her scans indicated a tiny bit of reflux so worrying now were looking at another uti but onthe other hand she has diarhea(sp)which is bright and i mean bright green !!!!
Waiting on doc calling to give us paperwork to test for uti !

Gill79 · 21/01/2009 17:09

glad dentist ok swotty and good news ginger about paed.

Malc is ill - day 3 of diahorrea, had a high temp, very unhappy and just started vomiting. Yay.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 21/01/2009 20:20

sorry to hear Malc is poorly again Gill, get well soon lil man!!!!

how is everyone?its been very quiet,

i have just finished blowing up balloons for DS's 4th birthday, he is really excited!!!!!
went to bed early too woohoo!!!!!

dd has 2 more teeth bulging under the gums at the top so is a little unsettled again but other than that we are ok here,

not really got much to add,

swottybetty · 21/01/2009 20:35

just a quick hello to say sending healthy happy baby vibes to mini and alkar and gill. hope your ds has lovely b-day sarah.

we have just been delivered a whole van full of paint. living in school rocks sometimes. i picked all the colours from the chart, emailed this mainatence guy and three days later the van has been round to drop it off. all for free. poor dh was hoping for a bit of a wait before i started making painting noises....

i electrocuted my mum yesterday. left some wires exposed in a light switch i need to fix and of course dh and i never use light in that room cause know, but slightly tired and bamboozled last night my mum walked into wrong room and gave herself two shocks cause she went and grabbed wires quite hard .

love to you all, i'll get on tomorrow if i get chance!

miniandme · 22/01/2009 12:29

Oooooooo got my letter in telling me my wedding dress is ready for collection !!!!!!!!!! Going down to collect it next friday oooh how exciting !!

rozzyraspberry · 22/01/2009 20:31

Happy birthday James. Better to get the chicken pox over with when they're younger I think - hope he's better soon. My poor ds2 has been vomitting since last night. Unfortunately he had sweetcorn for tea last night so I had to pick out all the kernals from all the sheets, clothes, towels he was sick on - yuck yuck yuck. He's starting to feel a bit better now.

When's the big day mini?
