hello all. sorry for my protracted absence. i am have been full of moan, and thought it best to keep away .

lots of news to catch up on. princess, how is ferdy? i am so sorry to hear he has been ill again. i cant believe you spent a week at the inlaws. my MIL's lovely but i still felt a bit aggrieved having to do three nights over xmas.

egg - how r u? sounds like you've had a miserable monbth. tonisilitus is rubbish and i have just started to learn how horrid it is to be ill at same time as LO's. i keep thinking of running away!

gill - i have been thinking about you and malcom and sleeping. dd's been getting progressively harder over past 6 weeks or so. she's had a couple oof viruses, a nasty cold and lots of changes to her routine as we've been driving a lot and staying at ILs and my parents. as a result, we've been v happy to comfort her indefininatley in the wee hours and we've been co-sleeping a lot. now we've been home for a week and she's well, she's become clingy and inconsolable. its usually at about 11pm and for the three nights we've only been able to settle her by holding her upright for the rest of the night. dh goes to front room and watched telly while cuddling. i mastered art of holding her up while lying and sleeping myself . the moment yoou attempt to put her on her back she starts to scream. she wont even lie beside me in bed, falls asleep leaning on me tho' . dh back at work tomo proper and we are both quite shattered. we've been doing alternate nights but not poss now. i really dont know what to do. i hate not having the answers. i am really hoping that it sorts itself once dh at work and life gets even more back to normal.

um - my pain was an abcess below tooth. mega anti b's have really helped. am having a root canal AND and extraction week on monday.

loads more to catch up on but dd stirring. will be back soooon! x

strawberrycornetto · 06/01/2009 12:03

Hi SB. Glad to hear from you although the tooth sounds terrible. If its any consolation, I had a root canal after and abcess and the pain of the abcess was far worse than any of the dental work that followed.

Gill, LOL at your poo story, yuck!!!

Count, sorry about your car

Question for all, how long from cruising to walking do you reckon? DS can't stand but is definitely cruising and pulling up all the time. How long do I have left before he becomes a toddler??!!

missnatalie · 06/01/2009 12:22

Hello everyone- sorry havnt been on for a while. Was sooo busy in the run up to xmas.

sarahmikeandrosie thanks for the birthday wishes hun. Cant beleive im 26 i still feel 19 .

Gill79 love the pooh story. I can just imagine, lol.

CountTo10 i had the same problem with the closer to nature dummies too. He hated the new shape ones. He hasnt had a dummy since about 3 - 4 months old now so theres one positive side.

We had a fab xmas. DP put a pressie at the top of henelys cot, when he woke up i could hear him opening it and it was Iggle Piggle. He was ecstatic (sp). We def bought him too much. He opened about 5 presies, got bored and ended up playing with the boxes .

NYE wasnt all that good. Spent it in A&E with Henley. His temp got upto 39+, was throwing up everywhere, diorea, coughing, the lot. Turns out that he had a throat, chest, ear and eye infection. Poor baby. What a way to start the new yr of, ey!

He's alos had he 1st outdoors walk around Tesco. What a nightmare!! He was pulling things off shelves, having tantrums when i put them back and causing major jams in the isle due to him walking a 0.5 mph, lol.

Did anyone to to the next sale? I did and dragged DP with me. We spent a whopping £576!! We did get loads though. All Henleys 12-18 months stuff and 3-6 months & 2-3, 3-4 for nephews. DP also got a couple of wooly jumpers too. I bought nothing as im dieting. Im determined to drop a few dress sizes this yr. Lost half a stone at the end of last yr put put 2-3lb back on over xmas. Have just bought the Claire Richards (from steps) exercise DVD. Even the warm ups look tireing. She lost 5st lasy yr. Lets see if i can lose 3.5??

Hope everyone is doing ok and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

missnatalie · 06/01/2009 12:26

strawberry Henley was cruising at 8 months and taking a few steps at JUST under 9 months. Since realising that he can walk he has become a nightmare. I need eyes in the back of my head

strawberrycornetto · 06/01/2009 20:41

Miss Nat, that's what I'm afraid of . Hope Henley is better now. Good luck with the diet, I am also trying. I put on 4 pounds over CHristmas and because I also stopped breastfeeding I am terrified I am going to gain loads. I am still lighter than when I got pregnant, but its been a struggle and I still had way to go to my target.

gingermumi · 06/01/2009 21:01

Count - are the dummies made by vital? if so you can buy them direct from them... i have had same problem and spoke to company about it today and bought them then and there.

Am v busy with work but hope all ok. Toby was one on Sunday and is doing a bit of walking! Been party-tastic here! Will catch up properly soon!

princessllama · 06/01/2009 21:17

missnat-henley sounds like he had what hope had. i was in a and e again last night. she had an ear an eye and a throat infection. glad we didn't have vomitting though. although we did have alot of diarrhoea- unfortunate that this coincided with dd's potty training. poor child will never ask to go and see the hospital again. good thing was we knew everyone . we think hope had the same as ferdie-a horrible virus that's laying loads of kids low this winter-it can give you conjunctivitis, tonsilitis, ear inf, tummy probs and for babies chest inf too. dh still looks like he has been punched in the eye and is complaining of sore throat. first thing he did when i traipsed in last night with dd from hospital was to ask me to look in his throat. i only just have enough in me to look after the kids right now and frankly i didn't get any sympathy when i was ill from xmas eve until 2 days ago so he will have to go without nursing.
swotty-good skills. i wonder why she wants to sleep bolt upright. you must feel like you're being tortured. ferdie is really good now-bit crotchety but cruising the furniture, dancing, waving at balamory and eating as much as he can before we all get bored and leave the table.

ImSallyIHaventAClue · 06/01/2009 22:44

hello everyone

am still struggling with working fulltime, feel so drained all the time!

however, DH thinks the xmas holidays were MORE tiring than being at work don't know what that says about his job or our respective parenting attitudes

DS is being a love. now recognises his own name he is also in the cruising club at the moment. v v cute.

we are still bf. I am still expressing at work but am going to stop this soon. and if it's the end of bf (as it may well be - have had supply issues) then so be it. would like to get to 18mo too, but expressing at work is doing my head in.

swottybetty · 06/01/2009 23:19

hullo all - have done a better catch up (went TWO pages back and wow the sicknesses were far worse than i realised. so many mums poorly too. princess i did lol at your dh asking you to check his throat when you got back from hospital ... dh was def not allowed to get ill over xmas. at one point he did start on lemsip and was most aggreived once when he found out i'd had the last one. hs even managed a small (subconscious,i think) cough as he asked me what had happened to it ....

count, sorry about the car and that the loan didnt work out. is your dh still looking suitably ashamed at relevant moments? i just looked at your pics for first time your boys are so cute.

sally, i am taking a small bow in awe at the working FT and expressing. no wonder you are tired. it'll all start to feel a bit easier when the days get a bit longer

happy birthday Ginger's Toby i hope everyone is doing ok in the Ginger house. we need to get the birthdays list over from an antenatal thread.

strawb sorry your ds was so ill again over xmas, hope its been ok being back at work. lol at wondering when they become toddlers... when dd is having a mega tantrum in bed at night, i do think maybe the terribles twos have come early.

has anyone else read any of that mouldie stuff? tis nuts in its sheer volumn. and the fact it was reported in three national newspapers. MN is so big isnt it?

gill- any work news? hope you have an ok night tonight.

i am going to try to upload some pics onto profile.

Gill79 · 07/01/2009 14:37

Missnat you've almost inspired me to get my exercise dvd on now malc having his sleep. Almost. I've put on weight over christmas and since radically cutting bf. Sainsbury's are selling off big toblerones for 81p today. I picked up one then thought oohh might as well get another. I ended up with 4 .

Swotty hmmmmm. That standing up thing sounds like a pretty massive issue to me!!! Can't believe you are managing. One day you'll laugh about it. I guess she's fighting so much to not sleep or not be put down by herself she's aware of it even when she's dozing. Malc fights sleep a lot but has never been that bad except for his first week when we had to do shifts. Good luck!

Last night actually pretty bad here but am putting it down to FINALLY seeing tooth number three peep through. Two nights in a row I've also knocked my bottle of water (sans lid) off the bedside table into the cot once he's asleep . Not woken him up yet though.

First day at work tomorrow! Quite nervous especially as my position a bit uncertain. Need to go out again today to put money on oystercard. Think getting to the office is my biggest challenge.

Sorry to hear about DD's illness Princess. And also about your car Count. These things always happen at the wrong time don't they?

Happy Birthday Toby!!!

swottybetty · 07/01/2009 14:54

wow look at all those names. ty sarah for finding list. it was you who neatened it up and made it look good wasn't it ? i want to do that to my current ante natal thread but i post so rarely it might seem rude.

looking at that list there are loads of people who were posting til a couple of months ago but have been quiet for a while - bovril omy and mitfords being three who spring to mind. always wonder how PK is doing - she sounded so low when she popped in to see us after her baby was born .

ginger - mouldies are a breakaway group of MNers who have set up their own private forum. its invite only and i think there are about 150 member mainly the established prolific posters who hang out in chat and pedants corner etc. AFAIK it was set up in Nov sometime but came to light here on MN just before xmas. since then there have been about 7000 posts on the subject and quite a few upset people .

gill - fyi dd needs to be upright not standing,so happy propped up sitting. thank god! we had no problems last night. hurrah! GL for tomo. dont envy you the commute, is it Northern Line?

HULLO!

Happy Birthday Toby!!!

Gill step away from the toblerones. "Moment on the lips, life time on the hips" and all that . Good luck for tomorrow

Ive completed the DVD twice this week and its actually more fun than i thought it would be. Even Henley joins in. Well he stands there and bounces and then climbs on my back and tum whem im doing the situps and press ups.

Did anyone watch the claire sweeny documentary lastnight? Cant not beleive how much weight she put on and how podgy she went. Just shows that we cant eat what we want and not exercise.

Hello to everyone else

swotty cant get onto your profile to look at the pics.

oh, glad she doesn't have to be standing Swotty. I must admit I was . Can't see your pics either.

Egg · 07/01/2009 15:52

Hello sorry am back. Feel such a slacker...

I wrote a long post on Sunday, wishing ginger's toby a happy birthday amongst other things, and then lost it . And I couldn't face doing another one afterwards.

We are ok here. Both babies seem to be teething again (have 12 teeth between them and cant see any new ones coming but they are gnashing at everything, snotty and grumpy).

DS1 (3 next month) has gone from sleeping 2-3 hours at lunch and 11ish at night to sleeping no hours at lunch and 10 at night with sometimes 2 or 3 hysterical wake ups. He is resolutely refusing to try potty training (will not sit on loo or potty for love nor money).

DTs are mainly sleeping through and have bizarrely been sleeping from 7-8 some mornings (but as DS1 is up at 6am it is kind of pointless...).

Got no presents or even cards for their bdays yet . Feel so very disorganised.

Gill lots and lots of luck for work tomorrow. It must be really quite daunting, esp as you were not there long (I think you said) before you went on mat leave so prob dont know them all really well. As for Malc and his sleeping, god I don't know what to suggest. It sounded good that he was only regularly waking once a night (despite needing boob and bottle at that time) but I think the crux of the prob is the not getting to sleep on his own. I think I said before (in fact I know and I am prattling on repeating myself!) but DS1 was the same and we bit the bullet at 6 or so months and just had to ignore him. However it was so much easier as I had stopped bf at 4 months and he had stopped feeding at night completely at 5 months, was just a bugger to actually get to sleep. He was sorted fairly quickly but I never did the going back in thing, just completely left him to it . That's why I did that with DTs early on this time round and my god it made it easier when getting them to bed (obv DD had other issues with sleep of course .

However we just CANNOT ignore DS1 now when he wakes up. The babies just go back to sleep generally if they cry, DS1 gets hysterical . Waaaaah.

DS1 has now waddled over (inside his snuggle sac) wanting to look at hot air balloons on youtube so have to post this and come back later.

missnatalie · 07/01/2009 16:05

Forgot to ask earlier but how many of us have moved LOs into their own rooms? Henley is still in with my and DP. DP is constantly on at me to put him in his own room but i dont feel ready. I quite like having him sleeping next to me in his ot and i think he likes it too.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 07/01/2009 16:34

swotty yes it was me that organised the list cannot belive how many people are no longer with us!!!!! (there are moreew on the list that never anounced they had hatched too!!!)

i too wonder about PK616 have searched for her a few times and nerver found anything recent, shame as she was a huge part of our ante natal threads!!!

Miss nat- We put Rosie in her room at 6 weeks!!!! she was sleeping pretty much 10 til 7 and we found that dh was disturbing her when he got up for work and tbh irts great as its our space!!!! (til 5 am when there are 4 in the bed some nights!!!!!!)arghhhghh

Egg- cannot belive your twins are nearly one!!!! best get shopping for cards and cakes!!!!!!

Any one know what they are doing for lo's bday? we have ds s on 22nd with a huge party so am thinking probably a little family thing for DD- we are all birthdays this month- DH was yesterday, my dads is sat, mine is next thurs(15th), Harrys is the following thurs (22nd) and then dd will be one on feb 7th!!!! (plus a few friends in there too!!!!!)OMG!!!!!

anyway enough about us lot!!!! how is everyone?

Rosie has cut her 7th tooth and is very miserable at the mo- and not sleeping too good!!!!

gotta go do dinner before i head off to work be back later, xxx

Swotty- cannot see your pics!!!!!

ImSallyIHaventAClue · 07/01/2009 16:36

I read the mouldie stuff, can't say I'm bothered personally but the amount of hoohaa was quite astonishing!! all sounded to me a bit like those endless debates we used to have at school about who was best friends with who, and who your friends were ranked in order of how much you liked them (can you imagine the fallout from that)... or was this only my school? (girls secondary)

swottty am sure your dd is gorgeousness itself but I cant see your profile at all! have you made it public?

missnat - LO not only still in our room but still in OUR BED. DH quite reasonably rather keen to get him out into his cot at least!! But it is such a faff to get him to sleep in his cot and I am always so exhausted in the evenings after work I do not have the energy to do this (for some reason it seems to be my job and not DHs, well if he is that bothered I am sure he would gladly volunteer to be the one on cot duty of an evening).

Gill good luck for work.tis a bummer eh.

gingermumi · 07/01/2009 17:00

OOh thanks for the birthday wishes! Better get organised Egg (and mini too if you're lurking)!

Good luck tomorrow gill

Swotty your dd is indeed gorgeous, love the ears!

Not sure about mouldies, seems a bit pointless, isn't it against the ethos of mn?

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 07/01/2009 17:32

lovely pics swotty!!!!! your DD is so cute xxxx
