Your dcs are very cute sarah

My voice has come back but I'm still full of a cold and so is ds. I've become addicted to vicks sinex I will have to wean myself of it soon but its the only thing that helps me get to sleep.

Work was quite good in the end. There was only 3 of us in and it was very quiet so we spent most of it chatting! Found out about a new job that is kind of being created for me, still 3 days a week but out in the community and loads more responsibility (not much more money though). I think if it comes up I will go for it as promotions in my job are few and far between and almost unheard of for part time. Gonna have to start using my brain again though

CountTo10 · 30/12/2008 12:17

Bit quiet on the western front!!

Egg - sorry you're ill again, and tonsillitis is the worse so I feel even more sorry for you especially with having to take care of 3 dc too.

Carseat cleaning - ds1 has been sick over his car seat twice and both times we did a washing machine job and it didn't harm the covers at all. I found with the straps some disinfectant spray left for a couple of hours and then some vanish carpet upholstery stuff just about get the smell out. Then the car seat frame got showered and scrubbed in the bath!! Worse place for them to be sick I think!!

God I hate being at work at xmas, just want to be at home eating chocs!!

princessllama · 30/12/2008 18:41

alkar well done getting back into work and promising news re job oppertunity.
sarah-lovely new pictures, yes, i can see your dh was in fully interactive mode
egg, ferdie, yes they were whole ones, like that he can do a bit on his own before i have to help him. he is good at not gagging, he seems able to eat anything whereas i would never have given his sister fishfingers whole at that age. glad you're not vomitting any more.
well we've had a shocker. ferdie got worse yesterday until i took him to gp in the afternoon and she called an ambulance. his temperature was 40.1 and his eyes were rolling back. felt weird zooming back to st marys again. i think they might have thought i was weird too as i didn't cry this time even though they did lots of horrible things to him. he had 1 tiny red mark by his eye so some wally thought he might have had menningitis again still he was severely unwell so can see there point. after a night on a drip and iv antibiotics they now think it's bronchiolitis -just like all the babies on our thread-he's in with the in crowd now. we're home but had to go back in for more antibiotics and have to go in tomorrow afternoon for more of the same. just worried as alot of the babies had to go in again? am i right? should i sleep in his room tonight in case he gets worse?
thank you for all advice re car seat. i think i've got it all off now but i can't smell anything as have flu so not sure.

strawberrycornetto · 30/12/2008 23:51

Hi, just a quicky, as am still cooking for our insane party tomorrow night! Princess, poor you and Ferdie, I really hope he's better. We are such a sickly bunch!

My SIL came over on Boxing Day complaining of a migraine but it has turned out to be flu and now I am feeling achy so I really hope I haven't caught it. I've generally seemed pretty resiliant to all the bugs, haven't been sick at all so far this winter touch wood, and have only ever once had flu, but with a house full for New Year tomorrow I really hope I don't get it (although it would mean DH would have to do everything .

Good news on DS, had him weighed today and he's gained all the weight he lost and more, he gained one pound and 6 ounces in two weeks which is pretty fantastic at this age. He's so well now, I am so so happy but also a bit to realise how unwell he was and that I hadn't really properly realised until he got better. I saw a photo of him recently at DD's birthday party in November and he actually looks really ill. Poor little man.

Egg, glad your LOs are on the mend but hope you aren't too unwell with tonsillis, its so horrible. LOL at "basketball" the basketball. DD is a bit like that, she said she'd like to have a dog and call it "Nice Doggie". Such imagination!!

Hi Sarah, hi Alkar, hi Count, hope you are all ok and not working too hard.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 31/12/2008 09:16

hi strawberry- really hope u do nmot get theis nasty flu virus it really is a hard one to get over!!!!

re working hard- there is no danger of that here!!!!!lol

loobyt · 31/12/2008 19:57

happy new year tis my birthday too, do i get extra drinks then??

miniandme · 01/01/2009 14:52

princessllama seems your little one is joining the bronchiolitis crew, our little jack has had it 3 times now, been in hospital once for a few hours then again when he turned blue and we had to get an ambulance for him !! I would thoroughly recommend a humidifier for little ones room, when jack get a cold or starts to get chesty we leave it on overnight and it really helps him get a good rest and seems to help him shake the infection before it gets too bad.

Happy new year to all,we celebrated in glasgows george square in the cold last night !! Cant beleive we are only 10 days away from the twins first birthdays !!!

strawberrycornetto · 01/01/2009 16:54

happy birthday to you also looby!!!!!!

Hope everyone had a good new yrs eve- our was ok bit quiet but lovely all the same!!!!

beansprout · 02/01/2009 10:00

Happy New Year everyone!!!

princessllama · 03/01/2009 18:23

happy new year.
sarahmikeandharry you impress me with your work, does make me feel slightly shamefaced that i still haven't started thinking about work and i'm meant to be starting in february.
miniandme-was that 3 separate times jack had bronchiolitis? must have been terrrifying seeing him go blue. ferdie was pretty bad but never that-i did have to poke him to breathe in the night at the hospital one night when he stopped but luckily the alarm went off quickly so wasn't long.
we've just come out of hospital today hopefully for the last time. have been in and out all week. persuaded them to let us stay at home on new years eve but then had to be admitted on new years day again when we went for a follow up appointment. my mum was going mental about being crazy coming out, and have to admit reading about mini's baby think maybe was a bit mad. dh thought he'd be better off at home without monitors and iv's etc. i did end up spending alot of time in his room-incl. midnight when everyone was downstairs celebrating.-we had people round for dinner and everyone crashed to bed at 5past midnight! lot of mothers.
leesmum your boys look really sweet, love the father christmas hats.

rozzyraspberry · 03/01/2009 20:19

Happy new year everybody - hope all sickly babies and parents are on the mend.

Egg and swotty - can't see any messages from either of you since your last posts saying your not well (but I've had a lot to catch up with so may have missed them......) - hope you are both ok.

CountTo10 · 03/01/2009 21:11

Happy new year to everyone and hope all the poorly ones are better.

I'm soo tired, and soo looking forward to getting back to a regular routine!!! Ds1 is driving me mad but I know he'll calm down once he's back at pre-school!!

Realised a little while ago that we were down to 2 dummies, one at home and one at nursery, went to get some more and realised that they had discontinued the ones we use so got some of the new style and ds2 not having any of it...eeek!! We can't just have the one as we started with 4 so clearly we have a problem with holding onto them!!! Looked on ebay just to see if maybe anyone had any and my god what a thriving goldmine. Some of them are going for nearly £20 for a pack of 2!!!!! They were only £3 a pack originally!!! Have located some at a more reasonable price but dp is going to try and contact the vendor through work and see if he can get any that way. I can't believe they don't do them. I think it's all to do with not wanting the cherry type teat anymore but ds2 is simply not accepting anything else!!!!

Anyway, dummy dramas aside, hope everyone's well and keeping warm, gritters were out again tonight!!

lljkk · 03/01/2009 22:36

Gosh ladies I almost feel left out, not having had a severely ill baby recently (and obviously, long may that state of affairs continue).

I do need to vent a little, though, I am not seeking advice, just need to blather it out!!

DS4's head is covered with bruises, the pitfall of walking early, the head is still so big and the world so full of hard surfaces and sharp corners. When you only have onechild you can keep such a close eye on them, but with many, they bump each other and interfere with the toddler, and need attention themselves -- drawing me away out of the room, so poor baby is always crashing into things (sigh).

Although we've kept out of hospital, we've all been ill over the holidays, me with chills and sore throat. I'm ok(ish) now, but baby is still waking up for 3 feeds/night, which rather SUCKS big time. I don't want to nightwean yet, because (ime) it will mean breastfeeding finishing entirely. I want to wait until about 18 months... that will be bliss!!! Since he cut 2 top teeth breastfeeding is uncomfy, too (blech).

On the plus side, baby is just so CUTE. Dancing any time music comes on, happily exploring the world, getting attached to random objects, not egotisical enough (yet) to throw a major strop -- like when locked out of certain rooms. He plays certain games, especially chase and peek-a-boo and wrestling, quite eagerly. Great laugh. I forgot how cute they are at this age.

Which makes up for what a kamikaze suicide pilot I know that he will be for the next 10 months or so (the worst is around 16m old, for those of you wondering). The phase when you really do need eyes in back of your head, etc. I'm not looking forward to it!

Is anybody's baby talking/saying in words, yet? Mine will probably the last to reach that milestone, btw.

miniandme · 04/01/2009 20:29

Countto10 what make are the dummies?? im up in scotland maybe i could source them up here for you ??
lljkk our little jacks head looks exactly as you describe,he has been walking since he was 9 months old and does have rather a heavy head ,im sooo glad he hurts himself when others are in as he looks like a beaten child-poor wee man ! Abby is speaking she is such a women lol says hi dada, mummy ,hiya jack dont say a word but makes plenty noise !!
Today i became the mummy of a teenager oooo makes me feel old, eldesta teenager today and my youngest a year next weekend what a gap eh !!

alkar · 04/01/2009 20:56

Big gap mini but sweet too, my little sis is 18years younger than me and its been lovely.

Lljkk why do you want to bf til 18months? I am still bf, just morning and night. I think I'm gonna stop the morning feeds on the days I'm in work but I'm scared of dropping the night feed as he sleeps so well and I dont want that to change

Thanks for asking about work leesmum but I have only done that one saturday morning so far . I'm back in properly on Wednesday though and I'm dreading it, I just dont want to leave DS . Oh and do you say our Lee and our James - I thought that was just wiganers!!!! Your boys are gorge btw x

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 05/01/2009 15:43

alkar · 05/01/2009 16:47

Sent DSs party invites yesterday and bought some party bags, treats and hats from asda today. I've got until the 31st but we went to our first friends first birthday party yesterday so I'm ll excited now

Gill79 · 05/01/2009 22:28

Hello everyone - sorry I've been away for so long! Hope you all had lovely christmases and new years. Seems there is still plenty of illness around though

Mini your two sound very advanced!

Update on Malc - can now go down steps but only occasionally and most of the time just goes round in circles at the top or reverses into the wall. He knows duck, pussy cat and fish and attempts appropriate noises / hand/ face movements. We're working on doggy but it's more complicated. He is also a great little dancer!

Sleeping is ok - the regular waking up is just once at 1am which is fab. However he's having bf and then a bottle at this feed which is not ideal. And also still completley incapable of falling asleep without bottle or boob in mouth. Arghh. We've been doing controlled crying since new year and need to do it about every other day when he wakes up in the evening or doesn't go down in the afternoon. And it's not working really. Average is an hour of screaming. We keep going in, lying him down and then he's on his feet again before we're ot of the room. Eventually he gets so worn out we can hold him down in the cot with one hand and stroke his head with the other until he's asleep which I don't think is really the point. It's really hard and gets me down cause I'm really not sure if it's the right think to do because he gets so upset and it's not really making a difference.

Amyway apart from that I have no complaints - touching wood - no illnesses or disasters. New poo story though Two days in a row I ran from the lounge (new carpet ) through the house with naked baby in my arms after he started doing his doing a poo face. Both times he pooed en route with missiles hitting the hall floor and on the second occasion sadly I then trod in it in my socks.

Oh dear - have just come on and written absolutely tons all about myself .
Will try and be back more often!

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 06/01/2009 08:19

hi Gill- love the pooh story!!!!!lol

CountTo10 · 06/01/2009 08:30

Gill - psml at the poo story!!!

Mini - the dummies are the tommee tippee closer to nature ones that look like space ships they're so big. If you can find any let me know!! Can't believe you have a teenager in your midst too - roll on hormones then!!

How cold is it today??!! Found out last night that the head gasket has probably gone on my car so either it's gonna cost a fortune or we're gonna have to buy a new car!!! Great when we have absolutely nooooo money. Never got a loan sorted either re dp's gambling debts either cause his parents couldn't get it sorted in the end so we're paying huuuge credit card payments now so royally screwed at present. Great way to start the new year

Although ds2 hasn't started walking yet he does get bumped about quite a lot cause ds1 insists on trying to wrestle with him poor thing. We're on a big mission to try and calm ds1 down tho cause he's a bit out of control all of a sudden and his behaviour is not the best. Feel like we're on a hiding to nothing though half the time.

Sorry turned out to be a bit of a moan!!!
