Just thought i'd get on now while i can to wish you and all your families a "Very Merry Christmas"

I've got lots to do today including taking Ds1 out on a LONG bike ride to tire him out for tonight! with a bit of luck they'll both be asleep for 7pm.

XXXXX

rozzyraspberry · 24/12/2008 09:33

Merry Christmas to you too Leesmum - good luck tiring Lee out!!

Hope everyone else has a lovely time too xxx

Excitement is mounting here..............

OutNumbird · 24/12/2008 11:28

Hi everyone, lljkk here trying a different chat name :

just popping in to say

Merry Christmas!!

I must move my fat behind supple arse and go do things in a minute, rather than enjoy another a quiet cuppa keep comforting a terminally ill pet rat. Apparently oral antihistamines (Piriton syrup) is the most effective thing for chickenpox irritation, although my 2 older DC who had cP were completely unbothered by it, didn't seem to itch or mind at all. I am perhaps the only person disappointed that DS3-4 aren't having CP for Christmas, I so want to get it over with!!

ImSallyIHaventAClue · 24/12/2008 12:23

Merry Christmas everyone!!!

Am so excited to be off work and ON HOLIDAY!! Also I think DH star that he is has volunteered to be head chef tomorrow.

DH is out buying my Xmas present atm and DS is snoozing in the sling - bless.

gingermumi · 24/12/2008 13:29

Merry Christmas one and all!! Hope it goes well for everyone and all poorly peeps are soon recovered.

Has been hectic here, ds got croup and a chest infection at weekend (and has been puking too - none today so far though) so another trip to emergency docs for us! Am v behind with preps as verything came to a halt when I had mc, might just get pressies wrapped before midnight .

Have a fab time will speak soon XX

gingermumi · 24/12/2008 13:36

Just having a quick read through and Strawb am v much with you, ds has had one thing after another an i asked my gp if i should be worried- she said bronchiolitis makes them low (which i knew anyway) and that 8 infections a year is normal intil a child is 5 as they have to build up their immunity by catching things. Ds didnt have anything at all until August and had had 2 sickness bugs, a couple of colds, bronchiolitis, an ear infection and now chest infection and croup (all since he started nursery). She said its all quite normal. Hope this helps hun.

Thanks again for everyone's good wishes am much better now, only affects me occasionally when something reminds me or seems particularly poignant. It does get better with time but i can';t help but think about it sometimes and what might have been.

gingermumi · 24/12/2008 13:38

anther moan here. sorry . am at end of course of anti-bs and seem to be worse than when started, head feels like its is being squeezed in vice and neck all swollen. think it may be not just be ears feels bigger. miserable being away when feel so bloody. 4 hours til all wake up and can go home and suffer in own room.

despite pain and four hourly countdown to painkillers, been lovely dd being with all dh's family. dd been at her happiest and cutest -- really lovely. not bothered by presents but stuffed face with xmas lunch. girl after my own heart. her cousins sweet with her. older one is just over three keeps chatting away to her and bringing her stuff to play with but looks so surprsied when she doesnt answer his questions . poor love, he went to church this morning with sil and mil and other cousin and threw up half way thru prayers and been a bit ill all day. younger cousin is eighteen months, not quite sure what to make of esther still - esp as esther has habit of climbing onto SIL's lap for a cuddle!

alkar · 26/12/2008 17:45

Hope everyone had a good christmas. We had a fab time, DS got loads of presents - a trike, rocking chair, trampoline and a years pass to the safari park

Its my first day back at work tomorrow - I offered to do the morning as they were short and I figured it would be an easy way to start back. Unfortunately I have lost my voice so I don't know if I should go in but if I dont it will look really dodgy. I'm thinking I'll go in at 9 and make sure they know I'm ill and then I can leave at 10

miniandme · 27/12/2008 14:40

Hello ladies ,hope everyone had a fantastic christmas what with all the bugs etc ,ours was a bit like organised chaos !!!
I am finding a little time again to get back on the computer without a little person hanging off one of my legs so hoepfully i can get around a bit more again, oooooo that sounds terrible doesnt it
Had a wee look at your piccies Egg,cant believe its almost a year since they were born eh,still find it so hard to believe that we were due the same day yet had them the same day nearly 4 weeks early lol!!!
Ill put an updated piccie of my 2 on my profile.

sarahmikeharryandrosie · 27/12/2008 15:22

Hi Mini, i cannot believe you and Egg either, also can't believe we are approaching our babies first birthdays already,

lovely to hear from you btw,

Hi everyone, Rosie much better now thanks to medicine, i can finnally relax a little,!!!!

CountTo10 · 27/12/2008 21:02

Hi everyone, hope you all had a fantastic xmas. Can't believe how quickly it went. We had a rough few days in the lead up to it with illness but luckily by the big day we were all ok but now ds2 is ill again. Temp was close approaching 40 yesterday but we managed to get it down, I wasn't relishing a trip to the emergency doctors on boxing day!! He's still not right today but his temp hasn't been as high. Just hoping he continues to improve. Don;t think its helping his teeth all seem to be coming through!!! Typical really, no teeth for 11mths and then they all come at once!!! It's weird looking at him with teeth poking through, he looks strange!!!

Father xmas made his trip and everyone was very pleased. Ds1 though has been a bit bad on I want more presents etc which I was quite surprised and upset about. We don't spoil him at all and xmas is the only time we buy him lots and he sounded so ungrateful at points I wanted to take the whole lot away!! Anyone else have this? He's never been like this before and I'm hoping it's just a phase. We had a lovely day and meal at dp's mum, really relaxed. Dp's brother who he never sees cause he;s in and out of prison was there for the first time in 10 years and it was great, everyone got on really well so all cool on that front. Have discovered via my mum though that dp actually has 3 half sisters that I don't think he knows anything about.....may be an interesting one for the new year!!

Hope everyone who's been ill is feeling better and now gearing up for the new year x

Bessie123 · 27/12/2008 23:37

princessllama · 28/12/2008 18:53

Happy Christmas everyone.
just back from in laws and couldn't be more happy. wonderful to be back in our own house not being bossed round by a passive aggressive monster mother in law-yes, we had traditional christmas non row rows. my own fault for going for a week.
count-we had some of the i want more presents from dd too. i agree made me feel like taking them away. typically after carting all of them up to cheshire what she really loved above everything else was a lollipop.
ds is ill with another snotty cold/flu and big temperature. coughed so much on way home that he vommed up his tea (fish fingers and peas) plus his milk. astonishing how much a 9month old can eat. swotty, have been looking at flylady postings for advice on car seat cleaning

strawberrycornetto · 28/12/2008 20:58

Hi all. We had a good Christmas, healthy except for MIL who ended up in A&E on Christmas day with an infected corn on her toe . She can't swallow tablets so I ended up driving to the emergency boots pharmacy to get her liquid antibiotics!!!

Minis are both well and had a lovely Christmas. DS is so much better and has completely rediscovered his apetite, he must have doubled his weight over the last week . I am so happy to see him well, although I've had a slight paranoia attack today because he's been a bit wheezy. Still, as you say Ginger, its just one of those things, I think he just got so overwhelmed by one bug after another when he started nursery. Hope he's better when he goes back next week.

CountTo10 · 29/12/2008 13:24

Well back to earth with a bump - back at work!!!! It just does not feel like xmas now!!

Ds2 is a lot better now and it appears it was just all down to teeth bless him. Sleeping still not great but its getting better.

Had a nightmare at my mums yesterday. We were there for a family day which was going well....until my youngest brother ignored my no fighting instructions and started winding ds1 up as we were leaving the house. He was screaming and making loads of noise until my mum turned round and told him to shut up...literally to which my darling ds1 replied, no grandma you shut up!!! I didn't know where to look. My mum was really pissed off and told him off and he just said well you said it first and its naughty and my mum finished it off with well I'm a grown up I can say what I want. I did tell him off but at the same time I was so mad because I'd made it quite clear I didn't want a load of messing about as it makes ds1 hyped up and then more likely to be naughty and I hate the phrase shut up and am quite cross at my mum for saying it to him. We've drummed it into ds1 that its not a nice way to speak to someone which is why he respnded in the way he did. Honestly why is it everyone just thinks its ok to ignore your wishes as a parent!!!

Anyway get well wishes to anyone still poorly and hope everyone's surviving the holidays!!

Egg · 29/12/2008 14:05

Hellooo girls

Sorry for long absence.

Count before i forget I also hate the phrase shut up (well I actually love saying it, but I mutter it under my breath to DS1 and DTs a lot when out of earshot and my mum told my DS1 to shut up a few months ago when he was shouting and shouting (she said "oh Eggboy do shut up") and I was very annoyed and said please don't say that to him. Now I have found myself saying it a few times (normally to one of DTs when they are yelling and yelling forever for no apparent reason and I am going insane) and want to smack myself over the head as I know DS1 will start telling me to shut up.

So anyway. Our vomiting bug came to and end on Christmas day thank god. We drove to Devon on the Tuesday and everyone was ok in the car, and DS1 and DD were more or less ok while we were away but DS2 puked all day 23rd and 24th. Every single time though I knew it was coming and got him over the sink / bath / bucket [proud].

Strawb at MIL with infected corn on Christmas Day! I shouldn't laugh of course... Glad your DS is so much better now. My DS2 has developed a hideous temper and screams the house down if he is not held. Today I have had to just ignore him as it is becoming ridiculous. If I leave him he stops eventually (10 mins though, it is hard going!) and then gets on with playing so hopefully after a few more times of being ignored he will give it up. He has only started it since he was puking last week so prob got used to me rushing over when he cried (he always cried very hard before a puke).

We too had an ungrateful DS1 saying "I want more presents" even though he was spoiled rotton. Wish we had only got him the basketball and the bike as all the books etc made it seem like he got sooooo much. He loves his basketball to bits and has named it....wait for it..... basketball .

My advice on car seat cleaning (we have had many incidents due to carsick DS1) is take the covers off and stick them in the machine, even if they say handwash only. The worst bit is the straps though, impossible to get the bits out!

Princess when you give DS fishfingers does he eat them just cut into pieces? I am too scared as they get so "crispy" and worry my two will gag (although they eat toast without a prob).

Oh and today I woke up with tonsillitis . Am really fed up of living in the house of illness.

Mini good to see you on here! I am often amazed that we were due same day, you nearly had yours quite a few times early, and then we ended up giving birth on same day too! For some reason I think your little ones look more grown up than mine (I must get some more recent pics on my profile too). How on earth are you coping with five? I really struggle a lot with three, plus I think I remember one of your older DCs has special needs (sorry if I am remembering incorrectly).

Alkar did you go in for your first day back at work? How are you feeling? Have you just lost your voice or are you feeling shite as well?

Sarah glad Rosie is on the mend. Poor thing. I peeked at a couple of your new pics on FB of her and she is goooorgeous .
