Can someone please add "our babies" as my machine will probably blow up if I try it

Right time for me to get things sorted before bed.

Night everyone hugs to you all. I'll leave some hot cocoa out for everyone, enjoy.

Morning all. Hi gemprincess, great news about Ashton but sorry to hear about his chicken pox - at least he's getting it while he's young.
VS - your neighbours sound dreadful. I'd report them. We're still waiting for Sam to be assessed so that we can claim the one & only benefit you get out here, so it really pees me off when I read things like that.
Going back a bit - my Dad hasn't come out to see Sam yet & he gets free flights to anywhere in the world. Imagine how much that annoys me! I won't invite him either though because the last time he was here DS1 asked DH why Grandad didn't love him I still want to cry when I think about it.

Morning all.

I have lost my voice!?! I was fine yesterday... no real cold symptoms or anything, and now I can hardly talk at all. DP found it most amusing before he left this morning. I feel really stuffed up and have already dosed upon sudafed and nasel spray to try and release the pressure. Weird thing is I don't seem to have a cough, my throat just seems to be closed up if you see what I mean.

Oh well.. more fun and games for me today then eh?

I'll put the kettle on, hot tea is the only thing thats helping me so just shout if you want a cuppa!

9 days til Christmas!

ThePFJInASleigh · 16/12/2008 09:13

Awww Soph..
That sounds awful. Have a cuppa.
I'd suggest you call your dad and boot him up the ass for your kids sake but sounds like he's not much good when he is there to see them...

ThePFJInASleigh · 16/12/2008 09:15

Oh and the next thing on my shopping list:

Safety gates.

Has anyone got any vital advice/experiences on safety they want to pass to me before I take the plunge and buy a couple?
Any comments would be welcomed. Cheers girls.

Thanks for the tea PFJ
There's no point PFJ because he's just not a kid person. He was useless with me and my brother & no better with his grandkids. I also think he has a problem with Sam having Down's but would never say so iyswim. We get on OK & chat over the phone & he sends money for Xmas & birthdays & I'm fortunate to have the best step-dad in the world who DS1 adores, so in one way it's better if he stays away. DH & I just think it's sad because he's the one missing out. However, you can't change some things & the other members of our families are great.

Can't help with safety gates I'm afraid. Didn't use them for DS1 because we lived in a flat & he was never into exploring so we never had to worry. I think when Sam's eventually up and around we'll have to invest in them as I reckon he's going to run us ragged We also have 3 flights of stairs in our house & it's all tiled so we'll have to have them.

ThePFJInASleigh · 16/12/2008 09:23

Then I don't blame you Soph, and your stepdad sounds wonderful.

Soph73 · 16/12/2008 09:31

He is. Diversifying slightly ... the weather at the mo is dreadful. It's absolutely bucketing down. Poor MIL, DS1 & Sam didn't get out yesterday either because the weather was so dreadful & it doesn't look like they'll be going anywhere today. Poor MIL managed to snap one of the knobs off our oven yesterday so now we only have one ring that works - hey ho!!
On the bright side it's the carol concert at the British Church this evening & I always love that. One of the teachers wrote a lullaby when DS1 was born & the choir performed it that year & they're singing it again this year so I'm bound to get all choked this evening

Peachy - love to you

VS - you know my feelings on benefit cheats...IMO they are taking away what is really needed by others, its people like that that give genuine claimants a bad 'label' iyswim. And as for the car, surely your dp knows who to tell...you also know my feelings on that! Very sad about their dt's.

Gemprincess - i was only thinking of you and Ashton the other day

scorpio1 · 16/12/2008 09:32

Oh and Soph - poo to your dad. He is missing out, not Sam, not ds1. They have you

scorpio1 · 16/12/2008 09:33

and it is raining here, and i am cos i cannot wear my boots out

Oh and jealous alert - I AM HOME ALONE FOR 4 HOURS ALL ALONE HAHAHA

Soph73 · 16/12/2008 09:34

Also forgot to say it's the last week of term - hurrah! Friday's the last day, then we're off for 3 weeks, we normally only get 2 so we're doing well this year. Santa's coming in on Friday for the little ones so DS1 has to come in (he's been staying at home with Granny ... naughty parents!)

OP posts:
Soph73 · 16/12/2008 09:36

See when you gloat the weather changes & you can't wear your boots out so you've only got yourself to blame

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 16/12/2008 09:37

ThePFJInASleigh · 16/12/2008 09:38

Scorpio - 4 whole hours to YOURSELF! soooo lucky...

Run round with your knickers on your head!!! YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!!!

scorpio1 · 16/12/2008 09:39

i actually lol'd at that

[knickers dont cover head emoticon - are mostly bits of string

Soph73 · 16/12/2008 09:40

LOL - can just see Scorpio running around the living room with knickers on head & boots. Very fetching Christmas outfit

OP posts:
ThePFJInASleigh · 16/12/2008 09:41

Pfffffft again.. so lucky...

I used to wear exciting knickers. Now I wear HUGE GRANNY KNICKERS which if left on the bed could be mistaken for a small duvet.

Soph73 · 16/12/2008 09:42

You're gloating again Scorpio. You could borrow a pair of mine but they'd not only cover your head they'd come down to your ankles The days of wearing bits of strong are long gone

OP posts:
scorpio1 · 16/12/2008 09:43

No one is having pictures of that christmas outfit!

Sorry am not gloating, trying to be humorous, didnt wanna upset anyone.

Soph73 · 16/12/2008 09:43

PFJ - we could sew ours together to make one large duvet that both our families could snuggle under

OP posts:
ThePFJInASleigh · 16/12/2008 09:43

How do you wear bits of strong??!

ThePFJInASleigh · 16/12/2008 09:44

LOL!!!

Soph73 · 16/12/2008 09:44

Scorpio - don't worry I'm actually sat here with a huge grin on my face. Year 12 & 13 keep staring at me as though I've gone mad!
