Can someone please add "our babies" as my machine will probably blow up if I try it

No sorry, R's ok with that (however, makes up for it a lot by not sleeping through, chewing electric cabling etc etc). I think they're supposed to grow out of it not too long after they start being able to process solids, but no idea on exactly when.

NoPresentsInVictorianSqualor · 02/12/2008 11:27

Nope, no idea ladies, my boy is perfick.

SalLikesCoffee · 02/12/2008 11:28

I'm nervous - I have an interview tomorrow, and it's been so long since I've worked that I don't know whether I can do the Professional Look anymore...!!!

SalLikesCoffee · 02/12/2008 11:29

Lol VS

TheShipsCat · 02/12/2008 12:18

Sal - you can! You'll be fine. Its like riding a bicycle...When I started trying to be professional again, I found that it was worth saying I was coming off maternity leave, as people are really understanding. Before you have kids, you don't realise that other people at work do [stupid emoticon]. But once you've had them, its a really good way of getting to another level with people.
Anyway, good luck!

scorpio1 · 02/12/2008 12:18

Mimi is poorly now

We all are actually, well me, dh and Mimi. Mimi was up from 6am crying she just wanted boob for hours

Got the boys ds's today, with Wall-e games. they are going to be soooo excited

Good luck Sal - what sort of job is it for?

TheShipsCat · 02/12/2008 12:19

Talking of work, I must stop MNing and actually bloody do some!

NoPresentsInVictorianSqualor · 02/12/2008 12:22

Lol Sal, I had an interview yesterday, with half an hours notice IN MY HOUSE, it was all I could do to brush my hair!

TheShipsCat · 02/12/2008 12:28

how did it go, VS?

NoPresentsInVictorianSqualor · 02/12/2008 12:34

Ok, I think. It's just working from home dealing with appointments/sales etc via a server for a local company. A couple of hours a day, about £400 a month which we could do with (who couldn't in today's climate?)
I'm supposed to be hearing back today or tomorrow and starting in the next week or so.

scorpio1 · 02/12/2008 12:35

extra money, VS

NoPresentsInVictorianSqualor · 02/12/2008 12:36

Oh and the reason it was in my house was because I called them and they were so impressed with my fabness that they wanted to do the interview that afternoon but I had the DCs and the guy was doing an appointment nearby so it was either that or wait til next week.

MadameOvary · 02/12/2008 12:44

Oh hope it goes well VS!
Ellis has had a fractious few days but bizzarely napped more.
All four top and bottom teeth visible now - no wonder she was miserable!

NoPresentsInVictorianSqualor · 02/12/2008 13:07

Got the job!

SalLikesCoffee · 02/12/2008 14:03

Congratulations, VS!!!

Not that I'd be able to persuade someone to do an interview at home, but even if that was possible, I wouldn't get the job, as they'd take one look around and decide that I'm obviously not even remotely organised! (And that's if they were able to find the sitting room after stumbling across all the rubbish from the front door...)

Thanks TheShipsCat, I'll try to remember that. Fingers crossed that R doesn't plan a repeat of last night when he had a screaming match with himself at 4am...

Scorpio, it's finance - same as I used to do, just with a different company. Managing small finance team, nothing too exciting (well, that's finance for you i guess). Even though I actually love what I do, I wouldn't mind being a little more creative in a next life!

Have to see the neurologist again in an hour - wish I didn't have to, as it's really just a checkup and i'd much rather spend my afternoon chatting with you girls instead of sitting in a hospital's waiting room...

TheShipsCat · 02/12/2008 14:50

Congratulations VS! Even doing the interview at a moment's notice when you're poorly...well done

Sorry to hear about the neurologist, Sal. Hope it goes OK.

Rant alert: The builders have just phoned me to say they are not coming today. Our new bathroom was meant to take 10 days to install. We are now on day 12, and they still have to do : the plumbing, make the walls, the tiling, install the lights, move the toilet, put in the extractor fan and that's only the bits I know about. They are nice builders, and I trust them, but aarghhh! when will i get my home back? And we can't start on the dds room before the bathroom is done, and i wanted it finished by christmas.

DaidiNaNollag · 02/12/2008 14:52

Congratulations VS!
And can I also commend you on your grasp of the Irish language!
DaidiNaNollag is Father Christmas!

SalLikesCoffee · 02/12/2008 17:08

Well, appointment went ok and in retrospect I'm actually glad I went - she was really lovely. We chatted about conception as well and I think, having taken all risks and stress with new job / lack of sleep into account, I'm going to wait at least 2 years or so before we try for another. She was nice in the "there are no rights and wrongs" kind of way, but if I get pregnant right now, I'll have to play the risks of current dose (which isn't very high, but still) that could, worst case, lead to spinal deformaties off against no meds but seizure risk... So I've decided to wait until R sleeps through completely, has passed all / most of the teething bits etc etc, and then give it a couple of more months just for my body to get used to no medication again. So we'll be one-baby family for a while to come. Don't know whether I'm relieved or disappointed, but definitely feel better for having had a proper chat about it.

Denny185 · 02/12/2008 18:05

Hello again Sal, sounds like your hols and R baptism went well it was kind of quiet without u and lady bee. Glad u the appointment went well, good to have pro's and con's laid out 4 u sometimes isnt it.

Congratulations VS

Scorpio I went to Rome for a friends hen do and it was lovely a really great city with lots to see but buggered if I can remember where we stayed.

Well DD2 still not great, inhalers have helped but she is still wheezy and not eating food or drinking much milk. DD1 was sent home from school on Monday after vominting in the food hall - great place to spread a few bugs, but she is currently fighting (with the scatter cushions) with DS in the front room so will be returning to school tomorrow. Mum is having DS tomorrow am too so hoping to catch up on some sleep as the multiple coldsores are hinting that I may need it.

scorpio1 · 02/12/2008 18:26

Sal - I'm pleased your appointment went ok. Try and enjoy being a one child family - it's the easiest it has ever been for me, just the one. I have 2.4yrs between R&J and 3.6yrs between J&M - those age gaps were perfect. You will be able to devote alot of time (and ££) to R and his things, and he will still be your baby for a while yet! It is good to give your body a chance, as this sounds like a serious enough reason to delay ttc. You have plenty of time for more babies you being safe & well is more important for everyone

Denny - your poor dds. is ds ok still? My boys are fine but Mimi seems to be getting worse am conncerned about possible ear infection. She is feverish and just BF all the time. I am so very tired too and feel a little weepy, am on period too. DH has gone swimming. Everyone is asleep though. I do have chocolate & cake oh and wine

Chipmonkey - thanks for the hotel link, that looks lovely! & babysittingservice too

VS - congrats on job and extra pocket money! I am going back to uni on the 5th Jan. Eeeek. How are you and your lergy?

Peachy - how are boys? Are yours all well still?

Where is LadyBee? Did she go somewhere, namechange or something?

Denny185 · 02/12/2008 18:48

Shes on her hols - v inconsiderate, I believe the destination was New Zeland ? catching up with family.

Yes DS is fine, just his normal self Now working physiological principles the colder the temperature the harder it is for viruses to spread so why do we seem to have lots of poorly children this time of year . Hope Millie is feling better soon your poor boobs could do with the break.

Anyhow 2 in pjs 1 to go so best get cracking (dh on lates today so I have the joy of the witching hour by myself)

Congrats on job VS!
I have been trying the oh ok but she is still being annoying - I think I may have to try it for longer than an afternoon to have a noticable effect. My sympathies to your DP as a fellow stressy-parenter

I went to work for a whole afternoon! I missed mumsnet DD
