Thanks MHH! It is great to be back - I wanted to pop in quickly whilst on holiday but the internet speed at my parents' was so rubbish I gave up before the page loaded.

You lot are quite organised with the outfits and gifts already! I like your gift idea, Peachy! I've got no idea what to get R. Considered skipping it altogether in the hope that he won't notice.

Hi Sal!

Great to see you! Love the pics.. they are wonderful.

DP has just trundled off to work. We had a nice weekend together to things are looking up. I still have a touch of the baby blues though, but getting ready for my first Christmas with a baby is really started to get me excited...

I went mad on the internet buying toys for little Jack for Christmas day. Maybe the postman will call with some of them today......

I have made tea and hot porridge for everyone today.. help yourselves.
So cold outside.. thought you all might need warming up.

Am off to put on that llulaby radio station on AOL now to settle Jack down.

Morning all!

'Lo all!

I am grumpy today. DD up twice last night and then woke screeeeeeammming at 6.10 like 'MUMMMY!!!!!!' and that was me, up. And DSD constantly argues with whatever we say. Even little, stupid things. Like 'Can you get your tights on please?' 'Where are they?' 'On your beanbag.' later - 'No they weren't they are on my chair!'

Oh ffs! Does it really matter!

To top it all this morning DSD leaves house going 'Bye lovely Molly, bye grumpy Mum! Love you!'Didn't know whether to laugh or throttle her....this is what I have become....

Am going to sell them on ebay. What do you think the going rate is for 2, slightly used but nicely maintained children?

Right. Enough moaning from me.

Hey sal! Glad you are back. I was watching top gear and Louis Theroux sorry. And I would be an excellent neighbour, I am tidy and very quiet (apart from when nagging like a fishwife)

Welcome katie, nice to have you here

VictorianSqualor · 01/12/2008 09:33

Lol Ellie. This is when you have to take a deep breath and think that to them, yes is does really matter, but to you, no, it doesn't matter a jot and just say 'oh, ok' saves you a ton of stress

I feel shite. Really shite and it's annoying me. I've had this fluy-cold-type thing for over a week at it's worst and a normal cold for a week before that. My nose hurts, my head hurts, I feel sick, I'm tired, I'm hot then I'm cold and I HAVE HAD ENOUGH.

BTW, wasn't being rude! Hi katie!

Oh and Sal, that christening looked too hot for me

EllieG · 01/12/2008 09:37

Poor VS. Have some virtual chocolate/ecinachea and a cuppa

Will have to try the oh ok approach. I think I let myself get too wound up by it. I just hate how unreasonable children are sometimes. God, they're so immature! Why can't they be more like adults?

EllieG · 01/12/2008 09:38

Can you get a bit of time off from kids at all and go to bed? DP give you a break tonight maybe?

VictorianSqualor · 01/12/2008 09:52

You remind me of DP Ellie He does exactly the same, something that after 8 years of parenting I have just had to let go, he'll be like and then he complains about being stressed Don't think he realises it's him that allows himself to get stressed...
........However DS1 has turned into a little git. He keeps stamping and slamming doors etc and I just think 'oh well' and leave him to it but eh wouldn't dream of behaving like that when DP is here so it certainly has it's ups and downs.

I may go up to bed for an hour whilst DS1 is at nursery. DS2 has just gone down for a nap and I don't have to get DS1 until 11:30. Alex (Rather wonderfully) normally sleeps 9:30-11:20 so I'd get a good bit if I go up in a minute.

SalLikesCoffee · 01/12/2008 12:42

Hi PFJ and Ellie! It's so nice to chat to you girls again! Dh blabbered to all about my mn addiction, but if he knew how nice you all are he'd be here chattering away all day too

VS, sounds horrid, hope you've had the lie-down and that you're feeling slightly better now.

Went to see gp for Roelof's milk thing, and she was really nice, so will now be using SMA Lactose Free for a month and then hopefully slowly reintroduce his normal milk after that. I'm giving him prebiotics anyway, so suspect he'll be fine earlier, but don't want to take the chance to upset the poor mite's insides again.

PFJ, that hot porridge (virtual or not!) was lovely. My body's still in a bit of shock with the temperature difference.

Ellie, good luck with the keeping calm! Rescue Remedy is my answer to everything these days. Tbh I don't think it really makes one bit of difference, but at least feels as if I'm doing something. I'm sure 4 drops on the tongue is what's needed for world peace.

ThePeachyPlumFairy · 01/12/2008 14:36

the prebiotics should help a lot- fingers crossed!

shattered here! ds1 being a bit of a pita at night and as soon as he settles ds4 awakens and...arrrggggghhhhhhh...LOL

coffee is calling me. Anyone? (tis fair trade).

have spent a busy weekend- went to cribbs causeway mall Saturday after bake sale in Ilminster, yesterday making nativity costumes- got school fayre thursday with all the baing etc, and ds1 is 9 wednesday so cake for him too (plus a second for his bowling party sunday though that will probably be fairy cake based)

TheShipsCat · 01/12/2008 15:53

Hi Sal,
Welcome back! Its been very quiet without you...glad you had a good time

DH has gone away till Friday - so I've just been cheering myself up buying loads of presents for dd1 all the dcs in my life. Hawkins is great, VS, thanks for the tip. I've never been this enthusiastic about Christmas, but it the first time really that dd1 will understand it properly. As its her birthday too, I feel as if I've been waiting a whole year to buy her stuff. And I realised that I'll have to get dd2 a stocking as otherwise dd1 will be a bit about why father christmas ignored her sister!

SalLikesCoffee · 01/12/2008 16:10

Peachy, coffee for me please! I've realised I've run out and is starting to panic. Not that I'm addicted or anything, of course.

Hello TSC!!! :D Lol at reason for 2nd stocking, hehehe.

My cousin once dressed up as Father Christmas (they lived on a farm) and drove around on a borrowed motor bike to the local children's houses to deliver gifts. When he reached their house with his brother's gift, his little brother (who was 16 years younger than him and I think about 3 or 4 at the time - quite the surprise, hehe) looked at him, frowned, and asked why Father Christmas was wearing his brothers shoes. I always crack up when I think of it.

SalLikesCoffee · 01/12/2008 16:17

Sheesh, I can't believe how dark it is outside! Roelof's at nursery today and I have to go and collect him just before 6, but it feels as if I'm going to venture out in the middle of the night!!! Guess it really is time for me to do my driving licence now, isn't it.

I'm off to do a search for Baby Signing classes now, would love to do some with R. Am limited to those close to a station, which sucks a bit.

scorpio1 · 01/12/2008 19:02

I need to learn to drive too, especially as we will be changing our car for a 7 seater in the first half of 09. Am so very scared of driving though.

scorpio1 · 01/12/2008 20:21

Anyone here been to Rome? Want to go for our wedding anniversary, with Mimi but not boys. Any ideas? Don't know where to start.

SalLikesCoffee · 01/12/2008 21:10

Scorpio, I'll ask dh a bit later. We've been, but for the life of me I can't remember where we stayed. O no, just remembered. We stayed at the Holiday Inn or something which was a little out of the centre just because it was such a good deal, but while there regretted it as it was so much schlepp getting to places etc. Will ask him if any ideas, or else I'm sure someone might have better tips. I'm slightly jealous, Rome would be wonderful for a anniversary!

ThePeachyPlumFairy · 01/12/2008 21:23

Had I done my pgce this year there'd have been a week in Rome (glad I didt, would miss too much of Bas- pgce supposedly veeeeery long days with study).

I need to give up driving! I'm awful- its a lack of confidence I think. Plus I have this thing about only parking in daylight-bizarre. However we need the car as its the only reliable way to get to the shops.

Just contacted someone about signing classes and dh okayed the petrol- yay. Plus I can meet people withoput worrying each person is the parent of a classmate of ds1

this is what we got Bas for his present (but from a local shop)

DaidiNaNollag · 02/12/2008 00:18

scorpio, we stayed in a nice hotel near a train station, I'll see if I can find it.....

DaidiNaNollag · 02/12/2008 00:20

Hotel Royal Court It was lovely, very helpful friendly staff and very central, we walked pretty much everywhere.

DaidiNaNollag · 02/12/2008 00:21

I'm chipmonkey, btw! This is my Christmas name!

SalLikesCoffee · 02/12/2008 10:39

Morning all!

Hi chipmonkey. I clicked on "threads i'm on" and thought I'd better come over and introduce myself to this person I don't know yet, hehe. Like the look of your name, no idea what it means. Please tell, I'm nosy.

I'd love to know: Why oh why do children (or R anyway) ignore all the toys, blocks, books, squikey stuff, noisy electronics - hell, even the piece of ribbon I gave him and is watching like a hawk in case he tries to strangle himself - and go straight for the electric cables??? He's worse than the cats were when they were small, and I'm sure even they weren't supposed to chew it!

NoPresentsInVictorianSqualor · 02/12/2008 11:01

(it's irish for santa, I think, either santa or merry xmas)

SalLikesCoffee · 02/12/2008 11:08

Ah thanks

VS, how are you feeling today?

NoPresentsInVictorianSqualor · 02/12/2008 11:18

Shite, still.
The cold type thing has gone onto my chest now so I'm all wheezy and I'm annoyed as I'm meant to volunteer today and can't, just hope I'm a bit better for friday as I'm in a meeting then doing training so 'tis important!

TheShipsCat · 02/12/2008 11:18

Hi! Can I ask - is anyone else's LO a real chunderer? When does this stop? A throws up every couple of hours or more, and I am starting to get a bit bored of smelling of sick, all the time. It was OK when it was just milk, but with solids its a bit grim...will it ever end?
