Here we go. I was too sick, sleepy and preoccupied with my weight to notice the old thread running out

It's amazing how bitchy some of the threads on MN can be. It's ashame coz it's a brilliant site for getting support and info, or just generally having a chat, but sometimes people even have a go because of something stupid like someone's spelling or grammar isn't up to scratch, for eg, and it's like oh FGS!

justbeme · 21/05/2008 21:11

Evening!
Well my HV today said its ok to use tap water after 6mths and cows milk in cereal - one of my friends was very pleased as she was still boiling water and mixing formula up!!
(Im abit of a rebel so am already down that route months ago!!).
Also only sterlised once or twice and just pour boiled water over teats etc.
When you see what they pick up off the floor and put in their mouths now!!
(I also keep forgetting to wipe L's hands before she eats!).

LittleMissNorty · 21/05/2008 21:14

Hi DKMA....no haven't had my op yet....and I'm about to breach my waiting times.....I haven't had any further attacks cos I've really kept to a low fat diet (god knows I need to!)....it was cream that started me....I really sympathise....its farking painful isn't it....I just didn't know what to do with myself and it reminded me of being in labour - but a bit higher up.

I was told soluble paracetamol (thats what works the quickest) and was prescribed tramadol to take as well.

My friend whose a nurse told me to read Rosemary Conely's hip and thigh diet cos she had cholecystitis and that's how she discovered her diet (and she has never had her gall bladder removed).

Are you on the waiting list for a lap chole then?

Seansgirlthesequel · 21/05/2008 21:15

Right I'm off ladies, DH is bored of being on his own. Night night ladies xx

Izzybel · 21/05/2008 21:15

That thread here

Seansgirlthesequel · 21/05/2008 21:16

Sorry Hi DKMA & JB hope you are both well

Izzybel · 21/05/2008 21:17

Night SG

Hey DKMA and JBM!

LittleMissNorty · 21/05/2008 21:17

FFS, my English is shit tonight

It must have hurt, I haven't eaten chiken fajitas since that fateful night when I spent 4 hours in A&E listening to someone screaming after their child "TRINITY, Trrrrriiiiinnnnn, come fucking here when I tell you....TRRRIIINNNN" and filling her bottle up with full fat coke

Izzybel · 21/05/2008 21:21

at the way people talk to their kids!
Sorry you're having gallbladder problems too, DKMA. Sounds awful!

DKMA · 21/05/2008 21:22

Thanks Norty - I'm still waiting to have blood tests at the gp surgery so not on a list yet. I've not had an attack for a while so haven't been that bothered. It does feel like labour but higher up and usually the only way I can stop the pain is to make myself sick which I HATE - thankfully I didn't need to tonight! I always follow a low fat diet and it seems to be wholegrain rice that triggers it (very odd?) one benefit is that it's good for weight loss as I can't face food for ages after an attack.

Happy birthday Alice btw

Seansgirlthesequel · 21/05/2008 21:28

Oh God its raging on that thread! Think I'll stay well away!

LittleMissNorty · 21/05/2008 21:29

Odd DKMA....have you had something spicy with your rice? That's the other trigger....I couldn't stop it and it hurt like hell. Do you remember that advert with the belt tightening around someones chest (a heart disease one)...that is EXACTLY how I felt....and then of course I had a panic and then it all got much worse as you'd expect.

Have you had an ultrasound? That's how mine were diagnosed. AFAIK, LFTs are only increased during an attack (and my alk phos was very high that night which is why I was kept in).

Izzy, you wouldn't believe some of what I saw in there that night....some kids don't stand a chance do they ....and my LO was good as gold (we obviously had to get her out of bed)....makes me feel very lucky.

justbeme · 21/05/2008 21:30

Hi all!
OMG Norty!!
Sorry to hear about your health worries DKMA and Norty.

Am off to have a shower. Catch up later!

LittleMissNorty · 21/05/2008 21:35

Hi JBM

Night SG

God the football drones on (with the odd shout of "wanker" coming from the lounge)

I've just done an online mandatory training of Fire Safety Awareness and Equality and Diversity , next on the list...infection control....go my life is exciting

Izzybel · 21/05/2008 21:40

I remember when I worked at Clarks (I used to work on the kids bit) there was a little girl who had really really narrow feet. There was absolutely nothing to fit her and her mum was getting really irate, so the little girl asked her mum what was wrong, and her mum said, "there's nothing to fit you coz you've got stupid feet!" The little girl looked like she was going to burst into tears and I just felt so for her. The mother didn't swear or anything, but to put your child down like that...

Izzybel · 21/05/2008 21:42

Sounds interesting, Norty.
That reminds me that I need to sort out a First Aid course for my Child Minding.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 21/05/2008 21:43

Evening. Well I've just finished my evening stint of writing about radiation risks so glad there's a nice juicy thread for me to gawp at (The 8y BF not this)

Is cooled boiled water the recommended thing then? Ooops, she's had tap water since Xmas And she's had prawns.

I can now just see her lower front teeth as well as feel them. Bless her, she's been so upset by them today. To help take her mind off things when she was getting really fed up late afternoon I got out a new toy for her. (Well new to her we got it 2nd hand) A push along baby walker. It's set up to look like a car so we need to get batteries to operate the lights, ignition sound etc (and will no doubt not replace them when it becomes very annoying ) but she sat playing with it very happily. It has a little bear sits at the front, and there is room to sit one of her smaller bears next to him, so she liked that

Izzybel · 21/05/2008 21:44

We have a plasterer coming tomorrow, to sort out the botched job that DP did!

DKMA · 21/05/2008 21:46

Ohh I didn't know that about the blood tests Norty. Gp said she want to rule out silent reflux by testing for helicobactor pylori first - then is that is clear she will send me for a scan. I know it's not reflux - there is no acid than I force myself to puke and I am really tender around the bottom of my right rib cage (can't touch it kind of pain).

I've got an apointment on 6th june for hp test, another test to check iron levels, and a smear (not had one for 8 yrs eek!). Determined to get it all sorted. I'm hoping if I do need scan etc - I can go private and get it all done fast. Until then - no more rice!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry everyone else if tmi

That other thread is full of wankers!! I feel the need to share one of my sweary attacks on them - but wont!! for now!!!
