Just popped back to see if there was any news on J......

Oooggs - really hope everything is alright. Hugs to you all xxx

Sexonlegs · 22/04/2008 21:27

Oh Christ Oooggs, hope J is ok. What an awful shock. Hope he and you are ok

Ange, I am really sorry you are having such a tough time with feeding. They are sent to try us. How long has she been off food? Cold it just be she is feeling off colour? Hope the pesky HV backs off. Have sent you a text btw. xx

K has 7 ounces milk and a small amount of porridge and a few bits of my toast at breakfast.

Lunch she will probably have the equivalent of 6 ice cubes of hot dinner and then a fruitapura or fromage frais.

Tea will probably be about 6 ice cubes of something else or 2 fish fingers with the breadcrumbs scraped off with some mash. Sometimes a pudding.

8 ounces milk at bed.

Will have a biscuit or a few organix crisps as snacks.

GMM, incredibly envious of your holiday. Really glad you have had such a great time.

Brain now emptied. Am exhausted. Have a headache from hell as well as af is due - tmi

Right, need to do Tesco on-line. Might be back later. x

Bramshott · 22/04/2008 21:28

Oh no for Oooggs - is it her little J or her big J do you think? I'm sure it's only a matter of time before O falls down the stairs - I came in from the garden last week to find she had pried the stairs door open with her fingers (it was shut, but not latched) and got to the top where she was playing with the stairgate ! N was sitting on the sofa watching Cinderella, totally oblivious!

Ange - what a PITA about the spoonfeeding co-inciding with HV check. O is starting to have opinions about spoonfeeding, and about eating a different meal to N. She will eat finger food / with her hands but like you say, I know she will eat more if I feed her so we tend to alternate. She will always let me feed her pudding though!! What we do is probably fairly similar to others:

Breakfast - 1/2 banana, 1 weetabix, drink of milk, maybe some raisins or dry bran flakes
Mid-am - rice cake or similar
Lunch - sandwich / finger food based + yoghurt
mid-pm - cows milk - about 5oz
dinner - either mashed/pureed meal or pasta-type finger food + organix fruit pot
bedtime - another 5oz cows milk

O is very keen on pasta with pesto sauce as a finger food, and will eat mash with her hands.

NorthernLurker · 22/04/2008 21:30

I was assuming it was big J but little J is walking isn't he - and it could easily be him. Oh dear - hope we get some news soon.

Bramshott - I must try pesto on B

oooggs · 22/04/2008 21:32

right we are home!!!!!! cheers Ellie

Jack is fine, dh was shocked, I was mortified

I undid the gate to let ds1 go down (remember we live in upside downish house) dh then went down.

I let ds2 out of highchair, then I hear bump, bump, bump, crash, scream!!!!!!!!

I ran to top of stairs and dh ran to bottom (dh & Ds1 were going out on bikes and were in garage) and Jack screaming - chucked everyone in car and straight to A&E. Were seen after 2hrs

all in bed asleep now and thats where we are going

the little bugger will try anything to get out of nursery tomorrow

PLEASE REMEMBER TO SHUT YOUR STAIR GATES

Bramshott · 22/04/2008 21:35

Great that you are back and he is okay! PMSL about him doing anything to get out of nursery! Hope you and DH are having a restorative glass of wine.

AngeG · 22/04/2008 21:35

Hope J ok Oooggs, thinking of you. xx

WCL - I'm still breastfeeding morning and evening. Izzy drinks quite a lot of water from a tommee tippee cup like NL's B.

Thanks everyone who replied to my post. I don't think I'm starving her, but I was beginning to worry.

Our typical day is something like this.

BF on waking
Breakfast about an hour later, normally Readybrek, with toast or cheerios.
Snack of raisins, biscuit etc
Lunch - Toast or sandwich with cheese spread and mammite, cucumber, peppers, cheese, crisps (don't be Eddas) then 2 yoghurts for dessert.
Snack
Tea - Used to be a 7month jar or whatever we're having or have had with added cream. Then fruit pot/dessert.
BF before bed.

Sometimes more bf during the day.

Any one see anything I'm doing glaringly wrong?

Sorry to go on. As you can tell it's getting me down.

Would love to hear others please

NorthernLurker · 22/04/2008 21:35

Thank God he's ok!

You don't need to tell me about stairgates - I had my own scare the other week. So pleased Jack is ok - hope you and dh get a good night's sleep!

Eddas · 22/04/2008 21:38

glad all is ok oooggs

NorthernLurker · 22/04/2008 21:39

Ange that sounds fine to me - as you've already seen - it's very similar to B. DO NOT LET THAT HV GET YOU DOWN! She's a lovely girl and you are doing everything right. I admit there's probably little chance of her playing Rugby for her country - but you can't have everything

AngeG · 22/04/2008 21:41

Sorry major x-posts.

So pleased J is ok Oooggs. How scary for you all.

Thanks for text SOL. I've a hair appointment on Friday, but can't remember what time, will let you know.

I think Izzy is just going through an independent stage, but perhaps she is teething/under the weather.

I'm still going on about it sorry

Bramshott · 22/04/2008 21:46

That sounds fine Ange. I think it's their age and it's very common for them to get distracted by all the exciting things they're learning and not want to eat so much. I am lucky in that O is a porker so has reserves for those times when she would rather flick all her food on the floor than eat it! The girl's cousing in Ireland has always been a picky eater and I think her parents give her cashew nut butter to try and fatten her up?!?

Sexonlegs · 22/04/2008 21:56

Oooggs, so glad J is ok. Hope you and dh are ok and get a good nights' rest. xx

Ange, I think Bramshott has hit the nail on the head. There are more exciting things to do than sit in a highchair. K isn't bad, but she does get v distracted and I find it quite frustrating. K loves to try and feed herself, so I have 1 spoon and shovel stuff in while she attempts to feed herself!

Hi to all you other lovey mummies. Sorry for lack of personals. Back tomorrow. Going to Jo Jingles with K tomorrow for the first time. Used to go with B when she was wee.

Sleep well everyone. xx

Bramshott · 22/04/2008 21:58

Sorry, clearly that should have said "the girls' (as in N & O's) cousin"!!

Hi SOL! I am taking O to Monkey Music for the first time on Friday, having had 2 years off toddler music groups!

Right, I will text IDOC if no-one else has heard from her, just to check she is okay.

NorthernLurker · 22/04/2008 22:03

Jo jingles, Monkey Music, Baby Sensory whatsit - I am very

I can take B to French for Fidgets when she's 2 - but I don't like French

NorthernLurker · 22/04/2008 22:05

Oh and has anybody else seen the thread about the near miss - it is very, very funny! (As well as being very serious and concerning too of course)

elkiedee · 22/04/2008 23:53

eek oooggs, glad Jack is ok

liath · 23/04/2008 07:41

Morning,

Oooggs, glad J is OK!

GMM . Sounds like you're having a great time.

Food-wise:

Breakfast - BF then weetabix
Snack - banana
BF either at naptime or after lunch
Lunch - veggie nuggets and bits and pieces of what dd and I are eating, usually chicken, tomato or pizza etc. Yoghurt for pud.
Snack - muffin or fruit
Tea - Something cooked with dd like pasta, casserole etc then usually another yoghurt.
He has a digestive biccie and BF before bed.

Luce, love the cupcake idea, I'd be happy to host if people don't mind coming through to Edinburgh (might depend on whether there's any petrol left in Scotland !!!).

Happy Birthday Dylan and Thewilderbeast's little man

Oooggs so glad J is ok

Bloody dh His boss has had a moan at him this morning, so he comes and takes it out on me instead of standing up for himself I want to be grumpy and make him apologise, but don't know if I can be bothered with the bad feeling, so will probably just let it go..........

You would all laugh if I told you what it was about though......not sure if I can actually type it though

Thinking we might go to the local toddler group later, so that Charlie can meet some new friends before he starts Playgroup - probably in September.

mammyjo · 23/04/2008 10:33

Happy Birthday to Dylan and to little Wilderbeast!!

Ange, the diet you are giving Izzy sounds absolutely fine. F's day is something like this......

8am Bottle of milk and breakfast. 1 1/2 Weetabix, or some other sort of porridge type thing made with whole milk.
Mid morning, snack of some sort. She likes the soft organix biscuits.
12md lunch of 7 month jar, plus one or two fromage frais.
2.30pm bottle of milk, although she often drinks very little of this. Depends on her mood!
4.30pm dinner, whatever we are having, baby size bowlful.
6.30pm 6oz milk before bed.

Hope that the HV visit goes ok. F is starting to be a little bugger when I put her in the high chair. She is too busy to stop and eat at times, drives me mad!

Oooggs, glad Jack is ok. So scary when they do things like that.

Caz, hope you sort things with dh Unfortunately, we are there to take the brunt most of the time I think! I know how you feel xxx

Cant remember any more now, sorry. See you all later xx

Pesha · 23/04/2008 11:04

Thanks for all birthday wishes We got up early so he could have his pressies with big dc before they went to school and are now just having a day of playing at home. When M and N get home we may drive down to the seaside and get fish and chips or something, as long as the weather stays nice But he has had one party already and we had a trip to the zoo last week for his birthday treat and then another party with his cousin on sunday so he's doing ok! Will try and post on birthday thread when I get a chance.

I've read up til half 8 last night (and skim for Oooggs' news!) so quick post now then will read rest later hopefully!

Oooggs - really glad J is ok

Problem I'm having with stair gate atm is trying to get M and N and J to rememeber to shut it Although we only have one at bottom of stairs until I get my other one back from my sis so I don't leave him unsupervised upstairs cos I know theres not one there iyswim which prob safer than me having and then dc leaving it open and me not knowing!

GMM - glad you're having fab time

Dippy - I see!!! When you said on facebook you had some grass I thought you meant something entirely different!!

Luce and WO - lovely cakes

Will post a pic of D's Paddington cake later. Problem I have is I dont like the roll out icing so always use butter icing (with a bit of roll out for details if I need it) but its much harder to get it how you want! That and I always end up decorating birthday cakes at midnight! Although the amount of cake I've been eating I probably should use royal icing and that might help my diet a little! Did you all know Paddington is 50 this year?! Random fact there for you!

NL - I would have thought about £1000 for moving too, last time I looked into it thats roughly what they told me and wouldn't have been moving far But have always just hired a small lorry and rounded up a couple of fit strong men to help!

Ange - D's food -

Occassional bf in morning but depends what time he wakes up and if its a school day or not!

Breakfast - large bowl of mini weetabix or bitesize shredded wheat (tesco's ones with apricot or cranberry filling) with just a dash of milk so he can feed himself.

Lunch - sandwich or toast with ham, hummus, cheese, tuna mayo, whatever I can find; bit of fruit or veg; he had a boiled egg the other day which he loved.

Tea is whatever we're having.

Snacks are moon biscuits, fruit, cheese, rice cakes, baby crisps, oat cakes etc. And he has quite a bit of water to drink. Has milk before a nap, either bf or bottle depending on where we are and bf at bedtime, sometimes bf then bottle if he's not settling! All food he feeds himself, does not like being fed with a spoon and tbh I haven't really tried for ages, it does get very messy sometimes but its so much easier! I think probably about half of whatever i give him ends up on the floor or in the dog!! A few weeks ago he was eating loads and all the time, just constantly grazing, and last time I had him weighed he was up to about 21lbs But think that must have been a growth spurt as he has now stopped that and isn't really snacking much anymore or eating as much of his meals.

Have finally had another offer through from insurance which we have accepted, not as much as I'd have liked but if we didnt take this it would go to ombudsman and we'd be without a car for months. Plus it s slightly more than we paid (and thats after they take off the excess) so its actually pretty good its just that we got car at a bargain price in first place. So most of my internet time has been spent searching for cars and reading reviews. Think I may get an Audi!

Anyway this seems to have turned into a massive post and I really should go play with the birthday boy!!

Bramshott · 23/04/2008 11:06

Happy Birthday to Dylan and to baby-Wilderbeast!

Sexonlegs · 23/04/2008 11:39

Morning all.

Happy Birthday Dylan and baby Wilderbeast!

Pesha, wow at D being 21 pounds + He has piled it on hasn't he bless him!

Oooggs, how are you all today?

Hi Caz, grr to dh's. Hope the air is cleared soon.

Well, Jo Jingles was a huge success! B used to enjoy it but could be quite clingy. K on the other had was quite happy to crawl off and interact - really lovely to see.

Sun is shining after a wet start. Going to grab some lunch shortly, and hoping K will have a nap after lunch so I can dobuggerall do housework!
