Hello everyone

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

ok - well children grow - it's inevitable and wonderful and terrifying. My going to school feelings revolved around how nothing would be the same. Well - a lot of things aren't - but they wouldn't be anyway iyswim. Time with a toddler is different from time with a baby. I really don't want any more children now - but if I could have the first days of their lives back over again - just to 'notice' it more than I did the first time - that would be brilliant But it doesn't work like that. You have to remember and rejoice in what you have shared with them and look forward in the justified expectation that what is to come will be just as marvellous.

CaptainDippy · 14/04/2008 12:22

I'm crying now. Thank you. xxxx

Off to colect oldr 2 from nursery then off to friends for the PM, hoping my spirits will lift. xx

NorthernLurker · 14/04/2008 12:29

I cried typing it - huge wet-blanket of a mother than I am!

Have a good afternoon - is it sunny down your way? Gorgeous but cold here. Better go do lunch.

mamiguay · 14/04/2008 14:10

hello! feels like I have been away so long. I must have been - i think that's the first time I have clicked on 'threads I'm on' to see nothing come up!

Have been away visiting my sister. We had a lovely time and N was an angel the whole time. My sis isn't so well, she's had a trouble free pregnancy for 7 months but they've now found a fibroid and it is causing her a lot of pain. She has barely left the house for about a week and it looks a lot like labour pains. poor sis. And still 2 months to go so we didn't get to do a lot of what we planned but stayed near her and still had tons of fun.

Happy Birthday to all the little 1 year olds I have missed, hope you all had fabulous days.

My BIL was commenting that he thinks babyhood finishes at 1 year old and sees N more like a little boy than a baby now, which you can imagine made me very . He IS a baby! He's MY baby! Was not very happy with that.

Sorry I haven't caught up, we still don't have internet at home and work is so busy I rarely get a chance but you are all in my thoughts. N had his first settling in period (30mins) at nursery this morning and was happy as larry! I'm not even remotely offended as you can imagine fingers crossed as the week goes on and he realises it is going to be a regular thing he still takes it as much in his stride.

Choas abounds re. his birthday party. We were supposed to do a joint thing with his cousin on the saturday after but friends have just announced that is their wedding date. It's one of dh's oldest friends and a very small intimate gathering and the birthday party was just lunch with family so we do feel we have to go to the wedding (and want to). So now his cousin is having his own party and we'll do our own, which is fine as I secretly prefer N to have his own special day but leaves us a bit on the hop wrt plans.

Do any of you have superstition about celebrating birthdays before the big day? His is a monday so I would rather celebrate the sunday before vs waiting a whole week for the following sunday.. but dh says its bad luck

I've missed you all!!!

PillockOfTheCommunity · 14/04/2008 14:23

all ok
at work though so will catch up later, parish council meeting tonight so will be late
but I still have a house

NorthernLurker · 14/04/2008 14:26

Hi mamiguay Glad you've had a good time. Of course N is still a baby. I'm planning on claiming b is a baby well into her twentieth third year No birthday superstitions here. I want to have a party for b with her baby friends but I'm going to wait till after we move - assuming that it all goes through ok.

NorthernLurker · 14/04/2008 14:26

x post POTC - that's brilliant news - well done!

Bramshott · 14/04/2008 16:41

Just bookmarking and off to rustle up dinner for both DDs with no food in the house! Back later.
xxxxxx

Bramshott · 14/04/2008 16:42

And of course, really pleased that it went okay POTC!

NorthernLurker · 14/04/2008 17:05

are you sure it was claricebean octo? there's been someone posting as claricebeansmum for a while but she's ignored me when I've asked if she's the same person

off to PC meeting now, ooh what fun

elkiedee · 14/04/2008 19:53

Glad court went ok POTC

Hi to everyone else!

Sexonlegs · 14/04/2008 19:56

Hi people,

Good news re the house POTC. Enjoy your meeting.

Hi Octo.

NL, you really are a domestic goddess aren't you

SPB, poor T and poor you. I have no suggestions/advice, other than whenever K has been sick, she has loose poo for about a week after. It may be that because T's immune system was low after being poorly, he picked up something else from nursery. Just keep him hydrated and stick to the old bkand foods as you have been. I really hope he is better soon. xx

Brain emptied already!!

Need to sort dinner. Back later. x

oooggs · 14/04/2008 20:05

hello - having choc spread on toast for tea

katy - upset at nursery - I can relate to that - but it does improve, not much help tho

ellie - great news about court/house, have you/Matthew/Joe named the new arrival yet?

Hi Octo

welcome back maveta

back in a mo - need to put more toast in toaster

2HotCrossBunnies · 14/04/2008 20:22

Aaah - just lost post

Anyway DH is out tonight so have managed to catch up and post ! (twice!).

POTC - glad all went well today. Hope you have a good evening!
SPB - not sure what to suggest other than what others have already suggested. You have my sympathy about the washing to!! I remember that DS1 was ill on and off for what felt like ages after starting nursery with all those germs.
Maveta - i think little ones are babies til 3 (or so !). The year after 2 seems to be a biggy with potty training, dropping the daytime nap and moving to a bed - the last 3 things of babydom, sob.

It was my first day back at work today. So far has felt like a daytrip without my boys in tow but I will have actual work to do very soon and the novelty will wear off. I had steeled myself for a big scene this morning but both boys waved bye no problem. The nanny said they have been very good for her. Umm, we'll see...

CaptainDippy · 14/04/2008 20:38

Evening

Bramshott · 14/04/2008 20:58

Argh, no time! Have just done an hours work and now need to go and give DH some attention and put away my Ocado shopping.

Having a good Easter holiday though - I think this is the first time I've taken a school holiday properly 'off' work for the past 5 years!

Sexonlegs · 14/04/2008 21:11

Hi again.

Dippy, how are you doing?

I also wanted to say that before B went off to school I felt very thoughtful/sad etc. I was a wreck when we had to say goodbye to her preschool friends and carers. It is a whole new chapter, but a very exciting one. Thinking of you. xx

Hi Bramshott, you sound busy

MJ, how are you today? I assume your dh has returned and is looking after you. xx

Hi Oooggs, how was your toast?? I have nutella on toast every morning for breakfast.

Hi hotlips Really glad things are going well with the nanny/work.

Where is everyone??

I am watching half man half tree on Channel 5!
