What a lovely article, I felt a bit teary reading it .

Happy birthday to Fraser .

SPB, dare i ask about your poor son's bowel movements???

It's so cold still I'm getting really fed up but we've had a nice day out and about, went to the farmers market and had hog roast - yum!!

CaptainDippy · 19/04/2008 17:12

Awwww, lovely article - I rushed out early to work this am especially to purchase it!! Gorgeous pic

Well I've been at work and I've been swimming and now I am exhausted and ready for curry with the girls, putting them to bed and falking out in a dark corner somewhere ....

Doobydoo · 19/04/2008 20:08

Right well.According to Wilkepedia Necker Island is 45000dollars a day!But I reckon with the USA economy going bonkers 45000 will be like 2.50 in a few months
Apparently children are welcome.
THink I may have to get in touch with Richard Branson
Hope you have lovely evenings all.xxxxxxxx

Sexonlegs · 19/04/2008 20:19

Hellooooo

Where is everyone??

Hi to Liath, Dippy and Dooby.

How are you all?

I feel emotional. Can't believe that this time last year Katie was on her way and was born right here in our lounge. Keep welling up! Daft old bat.

Back later on. x

oooggs · 19/04/2008 20:42

good article ellie

happy birthday fraser

dts terrible to go to bed tonight

I'm still shattered

leakyR · 19/04/2008 21:11

Evening all

Happy Birthday Fraser

I liked the article and the pic POTC. Glad the wording was changed too (phew)

SPB hope thing with T get easier soon. George has never slept through. Some weeks I feel like tiredness is weighing me down.

SOL - the description of B's return is so lovely. Glad she likes her room and I'm sure she'll get into big sis mode again soon

I too have new hair today. Jaw length bob and some highlights - it meant I had 4 hours off from sorting the house today so I love it!! Actually it is nice. Gutted that I'm going to have to find a new hairdresser in Manchester. Took me 2.5 years to find one I like in Leeds - I find the whole haircut thing quite stressful.

George took his first solo steps today!
Sadly it was when I was out and despite dh and I trying to force encourage him to do it again, he has shown no interest in showing off for mammy.

elkiedee · 19/04/2008 21:21

Happy birthday Fraser (It's also my dp's birthday today)

Today we've been to a nearly new sale - but most of the stalls were clothes very small babies, 5 up or girls - I did get a few plainish tshirts and a pair of jeans. dp had taken D to the cafe where I joined them, a rather unpromising greasy spoon in appearance but it turned out to be a very friendly place whose owner thought D was great. D apparently reached out for the highchair as soon as he saw it, yay, food! He missed his chance for a go on the swing in the park by being asleep.

This afternoon we went to the library where I had another knitting lesson and dp let D race around the place - he somehow managed to get covered in the ink used for stamping due dates on books.

I did get the Telegraph as well as our usual paper, I'll sit down and look at the article properly before I go to bed this evening.

Tomorrow dp is at work 2-9 so we'll probably venture out in the morning and for an early lunch.

Can someone find a link to SOL's birth story, or an account of K's arrival?

elkiedee · 19/04/2008 21:24

Leaky, I still haven't dared go to a hairdresser in London - after I first moved I booked a couple of appointments when I was home for the weekend, but my hairdressers closed years ago.

Eddas · 19/04/2008 21:26

hi everyone, so very quite today

oo leaky first steps, how exciting good luck for the move hope it all goes well and they pack and move everything properly of the packers and movers though as I had to pack our whole house when we moved and on moving day dh worked(mind you I did send him there, easier without him hanging around)

sol made me when you said about B and complaints about the room, dd would be the same. it is emotional thinking about last year, we discussed the births(dd's and ds') last night

SPB, lol about your worries but only the mixture not the actual things IYSWIM. hope T has remained d&v free today

oooggs, you poor thing. I cannot imagine how you feel or cope. Fingers crossed they start sleeping better sometime very very soon {{{hugs}}}

Hi to everyone i've missed

i'm feeling better today, not sure what was wrong yesterday i needed a slap

Today has been great, dd and I had a girls day, shopping this morning and painting this afternoon. She seemed most impressed that by mixing colours you get other colours, although our red and blue mix was a very disappointing browny colour instead of the intended purple too much blue i think.

ds is no longer crawling any where. He walks all the time, which is lovely but am feeling very as my baby is starting to not be my baby but my toddler dh keeps saying i shouldn't baby him but i've told him i'm allowed for a little bit longer. i may stop when he gets to, i don't know, nearer 5

Eddas · 19/04/2008 21:30

sol's birth announcement

leakyR · 19/04/2008 21:38

LOL Eddas. I keep referring to G as "the baby" and Dh has stared saying "He's not really a baby anymore"

He is until I say so!! Or I have another one

Elkie: I had the same hairdresser for 8 years when I lived in Bradford. Then she moved to Southampton and I moved to Leeds. Have had some shocking service in supposedly nice, upmarket salons in the city centre. They are so poncey and intimidating! Also some shocking haircuts in small local salons. Anybody can say they're a hairdresser and you don't know that they're shit not up to the job until you let them loose on your hair!

elkiedee · 19/04/2008 21:39

Thanks Eddas, and that was such a lovely story, though I'm quite jealous. And what a brilliant neighbour to have.

leakyR · 19/04/2008 21:40

at K's quick arrival into the world.

Bath and bed for me now as we've got a tonne of stuff to do tomorrow.

Goodnight x

elkiedee · 19/04/2008 21:43

Fortunately my last haircut was done well, my hair looks a mess now but I can still see the shape of the last cut I had a very long time ago, and that's not a bad thing. But I had an awful asymmetric haircut and all my split ends left in when I was 15, and it took 7 or 8 years in which I grew my hair from short to long and then had it bobbed for a few years to get rid of it being uneven lengths.

Eddas · 19/04/2008 22:08

just got caught up reading last year's threads, our posts used to rack up bloody quickly I must print off the threads around ds' birth as they will be great to read back in a few years.

It's a bit though seeing all the names of people that don't come on now.

SO if your lurking please post it'd be so nice to hear from you

runnyhabbit · 19/04/2008 22:37

evening all

trying to get the last bits and pieces sorted for the boys party tomorrow. feeling a bit though because dh will be going away an hour or 2 after the party. he's working in North Wales on monday, so it makes sense for him to do 5hr journey tomorrow.

really should get to bed

night all
x

Eddas · 20/04/2008 09:03

morning

I've just cut ds' hair again trying to keep it shortish til it gets thicker. dh wants to leave it to grow but he's asleep so i've cut it things is if you leave it it gets really long on top and he looks like he's trying to grow a mohecannot a good look on a one year old IMO

got to go to my dad's today as he's having a birthday party(he was 60 on wed) it'll be nice to catch up with everyone as my bro, sis and uncle and aunt will be there, along with step bro and sis and step uncle, if you can have one of those wonder what food'll be served am guessing salmon pretty safe bet IMO

I am aware i'm talking to myself but dh is still asleep, dd is doing cards for grandad and my borther(his bday tomorrow) and ds is having a nap already so i'm am bored.

Aaaaaaaaaanyway, need to wrap dad's pressie and have a shower so i'm of into my bedroom to very quietly get the wrapping paper

lol at K doing too much partying!
thanks for the link to SOL's birth announcement Eddas - I couldn't remember whether you had planned a home birth or not, SOL - that to me sounds like the ideal delivery! Hopefully the next one I have will be like that!

Bramshott · 20/04/2008 10:37

Happy Birthday Katie, Samuel & Sienna. Hope you are having a lovely day SOL.

I am flying past at speed, but I meant to post on Friday in response to *Lucewheel's" question about all-terrain buggies. We have an XTS Twister which is still going strong after 5 years, and I've been really happy with it. Because it has a swivel wheel at the front it's really manoeverable round town, and you can lock the wheel for ease of pushing off road. It wasn't so easy to push on soft sand but I think that's true of most of them - it's certainly very good on muddy tracks etc.

Finally - are a new pair of size 9.5 black school plimsolls any good to anyone? I have 2 pairs here owing to a mix-up in remembering what size N's feet were. They're Clarks doodles ones. Happy to post to anyone who can use them.

StealthPolarBear · 20/04/2008 10:40

Bottom update:
Diarrhoea yesterday (morning and night), normal dirty nappy this morning.
Wish he would make his mind up!

hope you are all well. like you SOL - i feel very emotional - remembering what was happening this time last year.
